Do these support 10 gigabit over Cat6A?
    Gary L on Dec 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, since this is a simple passthrough it should support 10 gigabit accordingly. Just make sure the rest of your setup supports those speeds and it should work properly. I hope this helps and thank you for your question
Does the "white" color of this keystone jack match the same shade of white as Product # 6727? The image for this keystone jack looks more ivory than white.

Wall Plate for Keystone, 2 Hole - White
BEST ANSWER: They do match up very well. It is probably just the lighting of the picture that makes them look different. Have used this combination of plate and jack many times over the last couple years. You'll really like them.
How is this really any different to a cat5e jack - both cat 5 & 6 have the same pin-out?
    Michael M on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: cat5, cat5e, and cat6 are all different standards with different wire gages, insulation material and cat6 has a riser spine in all versions. A cat6 jack can be used with 5 or 5e but in general they are meant for cat6 wire. thicker terminals for thicker wire so the wires may not stay terminated properly if there is a lot of movement. In my home I have some cat6 ports terminating cat5e wiring but it is used only because it's what I had on hand, in a place that isn't used often.

if you can, use cat6 wire, terminals and ends. it is much better than 5e in the long term.
Is the CAT6 label on the front really blue?

Does this Punch Down Jack work fine with Solid Ethernet cables or just stranded?
    Mohammad M on Feb 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Actually, I have never seen a jack for stranded. They make crimp on ends for stranded, but inside the wall cabling and terminations are always solid. If you must use stranded cable in the wall, look for a pass through plate or one that the RJ45 end clips in on the back and front.
I bought the FLEXboot Series Cat6 24AWG UTP Ethernet Network Patch Cable. I ran through the wall and want to hook up to a Cat6 Punch Down Keystone Jack. would i cut it just like cutting strip it and use a punch down tool the same as when using a spool of ethernet?

BEST ANSWER: There is no difference in the cable than what's on a spool, just factory terminated instead of on a spool. Patch away.

    They work side-by-side for me
With all the warnings that these would not fit side by side in a 4 or 6 hole plate, I figured I'd have to by a few of another brand to meet my needs on the one drop in my project that needed a 4-jack plate.

The first thing I did when receiving these was try them out on the 4-hole plate. They work just fine, and do not bump into one another in that side-by-side setup. I think the complaint people have must be based on the super-narrow "Decora" plates (the width of a light switch), because these jacks worked fine with the standard plates I ordered from Monoprice.

    PROS: 1. Great price.

    2. They fit side by side in a 4 hole keystone plate (regular, single-gang plate sold by monoprice, NOT the skinny "light switch" decora plate)

CONS: None so far, though I haven't "fluke tested" the connections.

    Works Well
These can be a little tricky to wire the first few times but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. I was even able to achieve good connections with stranded wire and a cheap punchdown tool from the hardware store.

Just as a note, these will fit just fine side-by-side in the 4- and 6- hole Keystone wall plates sold by Monoprice. It's possible to get 6 of these on a wall plate the trick is to insert the ones at the top of the plate first and work your way down. Getting them out might be another problem hopefully not one I will have to encounter. Worst case you have to snap the plate and use a new one.

    PROS: Price, solid connection.

    CONS: None so far.

    5/5
I installed a couple of these using a Monoprice punch-down tool without any problems. The tool doesn't manage to cut off the excess wire so I broke it off by bending it back and forth repeatedly. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. The jacks fit into the two-hole Monoprice wall plates without problems.

    PROS: Work reliably.

Easy to install once you get the hang of it.

    Includes zip-tie for strain-relief.

CONS: Minor: no documentation included for how to choose between 568A vs 568B wiring, etc (but this is covered by the video above).

    Good jack BUT...
Wish they had more than 8 colors! (Leviton has 13 colors)

PROS: Nice, cheap, great for non Decora style wall plates. (or up to 3 place max)

CONS: These WILL NOT FIT side by side in the Decora style wall plates! (Of any manufacturer)
If you need to put 2 side by side then you should use Leviton's jack, the Leviton keystone jack is .63" (5/8") and these are .75" (3/4") wide.

    All tested good when done
First time using these. Well definitely use these as my "preferred" choice. The only time I'll use a different type well be if I'm doing a 4 or 6 port wall plate. They don't fit next to each other. Great value. Every one passed testing, some runs were over 150 ft., no loss.
Prompt shipping, no errors in quantity. Thanks Monoprice!

PROS: Great for the price! Both "A" and "B" configurations clearly labeled. Every one passed testing after installation.

CONS: Don't expect these to fit side-by-side in a 4 or 6 port keystone. They are too wide. I used these in a 2 and 3 port wall plate so was fine.

    Great Product+
I recently purchased this and other items to cable an office with about 95 network lines, jacks, both CAT5 and CAT6, all the hardware needed to hang, wallplates, keystone jacks, J-hooks, and patch panels. All the equipment I got from MonoPrice was excellent quality and installed with absolutely no failure.

CONS: Wiring maps were sometimes different from similar product. Had to be on your toes to get them all right.

Works great, just not with 12-jack keystone plate
Purchased these keystone jacks along with PID 6387, a 2-gang, 12-jack wallplate. The jacks are spaced too close together for the keystones to fit. You can pair side-by-side with other AV jacks like coax and RCA but not another RJ45.

PROS: Works great, easy to punchdown

CONS: Not much other than being too wide for the 12-jack wallplate.

    I'm impressed
First let me say that I use a high quality cat6 jack on a daily basis (at work), some may say the best quickport jack on the market @ $6 ea. When I purchased these (5384) from monoprice for my new home, I was skeptical. The jacks I use at work have a different color pattern so it took a few minutes to adjust. I am impressed, these jacks punch quickly and look nice in the monoprice faceplates. I'm using 6727, 6731, 6733, 6829 & 7088 and the fitment is perfect on all.

I do not have any switching components installed yet but I expect these jacks to work just fine. If any of the jacks turn out to be defective I will update my review.

    PROS: Inexpensive, quickly terminate

CONS: The few patch cables I've used so far are extra snug in the jack, could cause damage if plugged a lot. The wire retainers easily fall out, I recommend using the supplied cable tie to secure the fastener.

    cheap and work great
Used these for an office installation along with a punch-down tool (PID 7041), and various 2-port (PID 6727) and 4-port (PID 6731) wall plates. As I said in cons, it took a few punches with the punch-down tool to get some wires in properly, but that could be a problem with the tool.

Would have been even easier to install if I had a consistent surface to punch-down on. I was switching between the floor and desks at times. I would suggest not to punch-down on any damageable surfaces (obviously)
All in all, a great buy. I picked up about 20 of these and 10 of the red ones. I don't think I can ever go back to certain unnamed stores after seeing the prices here. They just can't be beat, even with shipping charges.

PROS: - damn cheap compared to some stores selling them for $4/each!! :O
    - look and work great
    - durable
    - come with zip tie to secure the wire nice feature.
    - fairly easy to install with a good punch-down tool

CONS: - In a few cases, it took a few punches to get the wire in properly, but could be an issue with the punch-down tool I was using.

    Price, Performance and Simplicity
I actually used this Jack on a 30 foot Cat6 cable that I bougut from Monoprice that had connectors on both ends. Since I could not buy any (no-connector) Cat6 UTP from Monoprice in quantities less than 1000' I did it this way. I don't think I will ever need anywhere near 1000' in my lifetime. The cable was clearly marked TIA568B so I followed the color coding on the Jack for 568B. Worked like a charm first time. I am now streaming HD movies from my DVR in the Livingroom to my Laptop in my Home Office. Thank You Monoprice!

PROS: Very easy to wire and worked perfectly the first time. The color coding for the TIA-568A abd B specs couldn't be more plain. I actually used this on a 30 foot Cat6 cable that I bougut from Monoprice that had connectors on both ends.

CONS: I'd really have to hunt for CONS! If there are any they are well concealed!
