    Does the job
My little cousin wanted to be able to use a particularly pair of headphones to listen to voice chat on his Xbox 360, and this allows him to do so. For that purpose it works perfectly.

PROS: Works to allow Xbox 360 voice chat through headphones with a 3.5mm plug.

    CONS: None.

Perfect problem solver if you need it
I have a Kenwood ham radio handheld and a speaker mic for it. The speaker mic has a 2.5mm mono jack for an earpiece and I don't have anything suitable, but I have lots of 3.5mm stereo earbuds. This little adapter bridges the gap and lets me use my earbuds with the Kenwood. If I need noise reduction I can put both earbuds in, and if I need to be able to talk to people around me I can just insert one.

I chose this rather than the metal version because the speaker mic is typically clipped onto your clothing, and it's good to keep the weight down. The speaker mic will probably break before this adapter does, so the tougher metal adapter would offer no benefit.

Note: this is NOT the adapter you want if you're connecting headphones or earbuds to a smartphone. You will want a stereo adapter for that, and Monoprice also has those.

PROS: Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Inexpensive.

CONS: The slightly more expensive and rugged metal version might be preferable in some applications.
