Mini DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support - White

Connect your mini DisplayPort equipped MacBook®, laptop, or PC to an HDMI® display using this Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter from Monoprice.

This is a passive adapter, which requires no additional power. It converts the mini DisplayPort signal to an HDMI audio/video signal. The adapter supports resolutions up to 1920x1080p and up to 36-bit Deep Color (12-bits per channel). Note that this is not bidirectional and therefore will NOT convert HDMI video to mini DisplayPort.

Note: This is a passive adapter and is therefore NOT suitable for AMD® Eyefinity installations. An active adapter, such as PID 5135, is required for Eyefinity setups.

This adapter was reviewed by CNET UK in 2009. Click here to read the review.

This will work With audio-thru hdmi Mb pro that supports it (info on how to know if yours does support)

if you wanna know if you macbook pro has the audio over hdmi capabilty you go into the Apple menu//about this mac , you click (more info...) then in the Content column at left, you chose the Audio (Built in ) category and if the HDMI// DisplayPort output is shown then bingo your Macbook pro can send sound thru the hdmi with this adapter ... :D

PROS: Works perfectly on my Macbook Pro Mid 2009 ( version 7.1 ) with only this wire ... also connector is properly sized for all the Usb to connect normaly , only had to configure the sound in pref/sound out to route it through hdmi.. +++

CONS: none to date i'm very satisfied !

    Perfect!
Works great with my 46" Samsung and my mid-2011 21.5" iMac.

    A few things worth noting:

    - Make sure it's plugged into the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplayPort port all the way before you start cursing - I thought it was defective, then double-checked the connection.
    - If you want audio through your TV instead of your Mac, option-click the volume control in your menu bar to select your audio output.
    - The picture may appear to be "too big" for your TV at first. Go to your Display settings and adjust the Underscan slider.

    No audio
The main reason I bought this was because I wanted to connect my macbook to my TV over hdmi with audio and video. It all works great except my version of macbook doesn't support audio. You can go to the apple website and look up whether your macbook supports audio out the mini display port. Only the newest ones do. And, seriously, I just have to say, that life would be much simpler if apple just used hdmi ports. It's stupid that we even have to buy this adapter.

PROS: Works fine for video. WAY cheaper than buying from A$$leStore

CONS: No audio. But this is my macbook's fault, not monoprice. So, I still give it a rating of 10.

    No problems
Hooked it up to an Oct-2010 MacBook Air, plug in to my Sony TV, MBA went into extended display, 1080p mode. Looks great. I had to go into sound preferences to get the sound to output to the HDMI port. Not a problem. Works great.

    Works great with Surface Pro!
Works fine with MS Surface Pro (yes, audio too)

Microsoft does not even carry an official Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter! They only have a Mini Displayport to VGA and it costs $40!

PROS: Compatible with Microsoft Surface Pro!

    MacUser's dream
I've been using this with a new MacBook Pro for about a month now. Previously was using a USB to HDMI adapter on an older MacBook. The improvement in video quality on a 1080p 32" HD TV is noticeable using the Thunderbolt's higher data transfer speeds over the USB 2.0. A great picture, and a great way to view Internet content (Like Netflix streaming) on my TV. Couldn't be happier.

PROS: Compact, "plug and play" simplicity

    CONS: Can't think of any.

Transfers video and audio without any issues for an Early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5 to an LG television over Thunderbolt interface. Socket and plug fit snugly both ends.

    PROS: Reliable, effective

    Unbeatable price, excellent performance
Audio and video work beautifully with 17" MacBook Pro (Mid 2010). Don't even bother looking at anything else - this is as good as it gets.

PROS: Exceptional price, very high quality, small & compact design.

    CONS: None whatsoever.
