Nice wall plate at fraction price, but becarefull
I installed this plate over Low Voltage plastic mounting bracket that you can find at your hardware store. The under plate will not fit perfectly over this type of wall bracket. I did a small notch on each side with a Dremel an : problem solve !
At around 2$ each, you can go wrong.

    Speaker Wire Wall Plate
Highly recommended, this is good stuff.

PROS: No complaints. Connections are tight and handle the 12g cables easily w/ room to spare.

    CONS: None.

These things make speaker installations sexy. My home theatre looks great now thanks to these puppies. Pair them up with some banana plugs and it's even easier. For anyone looking to hide wires behind walls, this is the perfect way to terminate those connections behind the speaker.

It's exactly what it looks like in the picture. You can plug banana jacks into both sides if you like, insert wires and screw them down, or a combination of the two. I ended up screwing the wires into the back and will use banana jacks from the speakers.

I had a few hassles with installation, though. The 6-32 mounting screws (the ones you screw into the box in the wall) are flathead and painted, making it very hard to screw in, especially since they're quite long. A little silly since you don't even see them once the wall plate (with its short flathead screws) is mounted over them.

Also, if you're using "old work" boxes with the plastic tabs that jut out in front of the wall slightly, you'll have to get a pair of cutters (I used big wire cutters) to chop the plastic "ears" (and then some) off of the plate top/bottom so it screws down flush. For some reason the plastic is oversized from a normal electrical device form factor and they overlap. It will all be covered by the wall plate so no matter the hack job it still looks good.

Overall a great part for the price, but be aware of the hassles with the hardware and mounting.

    PROS: great price!
nice quality plated connectors, no trouble screwing in 14AWG wire on the back.
much nicer than a wire sticking out of a hole in your wall

CONS: The screws to attach to the wall box are flathead and the whole top, including the slot, is painted - the worst kind to try and get your screwdriver into and turn. Since you don't even see these once the wall plate is on, use other screws if you have them!

For the price these cant be beat but I ordered several of these and a few larger ones (5.1 and a 3 speaker) for my home theater that I am building. I installed "standard" low voltage boxes (purchased locally at Menards) at each speaker and subwoofer location. I proceeded to drywall and finish the room only to realize (when I started to wire everything up) that these do NOT fit "standard" low voltage boxes and their holes. The back piece with the terminals lines up but the holes in the cover plate dont line up with ANY holes in the box. The only way to attach the covers now is to screw into the drywall.......how long will that hold up????

Could be a flawless product with a couple minor changes.
Nice, high quality connectors that look and work best with banana plugs on both sides. However, if you are planing on just using the screw type binding post one one side the holes are annoyingly stacked right on top of each other. Not a big deal but having them at angles or running parallel would make installation easier.

More frustrating is that the included screws have the consistency of lead and are blade type. Using them with a power driver is almost impossible and either way they strip way too easily. Until Monoprice starts including higher quality screws I would suggest just purchasing some quality screws prior to installation so you don't have to deal with stripped heads.

    PROS: Look great

    Inexpensive

Fits banana plugs back to back

CONS: Alignment for screw type cabling is not well thought out

Included screws are cheap blade/standard head (not phillips)

    CONS: none

    Surprising quality given the price
I bought these because I'm cheap. The quality is fine for everyone except someone at an audio studio where they connect and disconnect everything 10,000 times. I'll probably plug a cable into them 20 times in my entire lifetime.

I didn't use cables with banana jacks and it connected well with both 12 gauge romex from the in-wall wiring, and thin 22 gauge stranded wire from my speakers. I did tin the end of the 22 gauge wire so the thread could bite into it a bit harder. Works great.
