PROS: This adapter works as advertised. I plugged it into my Lenovo TP W500 Displayport, then to the Monoprice Redmere 6 foot cable and finally into my LG TV HDMI port. It works without a hitch.

CONS: None

Simple connector, works well.

Maybe I just got a bad one, but I'm sending it back (even though the shipping will eat up most of the refund). I recommend trying a different adapter. A $10 mistake.

I guess it is my fault for not reading reviews and the description, but this cable doesn't work with eyefinity. It is passive, so it doesn't convert the signal. You will need to buy an active converter which is 18 on monoprice. Active converters have an actual chip built into it that converts the signal. Just be aware of this.

The product does work as designed, but I prefer the 6" dongle instead of the all-one-piece version of this converter. I had trouble finding the 6" version on the website too but if you can find it someplace, it is worth the extra dollars for it.

I have had one of these for several years, and I have to say that it may have saved me several hundred dollars today. Having not purchased longer cables to accommodate a new sit-stand desk, I accidentally had a cable snag, which put pressure on the monitor and computer, but the adapter split apart instead saving me a $200+ monitor purchase and a $300+ graphics card purchase. So, even if it is a little flimsy, it has been a safe connection and one that will break instead of breaking your devices.
The adapter has worked great to convert a displayport signal into my DVI (single) monitor. I even discovered that it takes care of the wonky plug-n-play behavior of DP that makes the monitor disappear despite being connected to a DP card, the DVI monitor doesn't disappear from device manager.

PROS: - A surprisingly effective fail-point
- Maintains a solid connection under normal operation
- Behaves like a DVI connection, not like a DP connection

CONS: - Sags a bit when connected horizontally, and would be nicer if it had a wire inline to reduce stress on any DP device plugs.

Used with Windows7 Pro with a nVidia quadro graphics card that has a single DVI port and two Display ports. The primary DVI-D port is hooked to a single display and I wanted to add a second monitor to extend my desktop across two displays. After installing this Display Port to DVI-D adapter, windows immediately recognized the second display so I could configure it to extend my desktop.

I am very happy with this purchase. Monoprice.com is the only place to buy cables/adapters.

PROS: Works perfectly.

Works as advertized. It would be nice if the adaptor wasn't so long. With the stiffness of the cable and the length of the adaptor I had to reposition the computer a little further from the wall. Maybe a cable with the DP on one end and the DVI on the other would have worked better.

Worked as advertised, though due entirely to the fault of the graphics card I was unable to have my desktop extended across both displays. No matter what I did it would only clone the monitors. I suspect that it could have to do with the card only having the capability to render a single DVI signal at once. I would like to try again with a display port compatible monitor but I'm not willing to spend 150+ bucks to test out a hunch on a work computer.

PROS: Works exactly as advertised. It allowed my work computer video card to output a DVI signal over the display port to my DVI monitor. Very inexpensive and worked great.

CONS: The adapter itself is rather long and next time I might consider buying one that has each end joined by several inches of a cable so that it didn't stick out on the back of the computer so much.

Solved my connectivity problem. I would recommend it to anyone who has a DisplayPort jack and needs a DVI.

PROS: Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Passive, no compatibility issues, just works as designed.

CONS: I guess it could be a little smaller? No real cons.

Monoprice is considered to be a excellent source for cabling and adapters for this OEM.

PROS: Monoprice one again delivered the require product on time with tracking information available at all times. The product was "excellent" quality and for a very reasonable price.

We are deploying hundreds of Lenovo M700 Tiny's globally. They only have DP outputs. In order to hook up to our legacy monitors (HP ProDisplay P221 and Samsung SyncMaster B2230), we needed a DP/DVI adapter. This adapter was tested up to FHD/1080p resolutions (1920x1080), and they worked without issue. We saw no problems associated with syncing, refresh, display artifacts, etc.

Stop paying twenty dollars for these adapters. This one works just fine.

Used this to connect my Dell Latitude E6400 to my plasma TV. It doesn't carry audio, of course, by my TV has a 1/8" audio input.

Added a 4th monitor to my setup with only a display port available on the gpu.
This adapter works just fine with a 24" 60Hz display via DVI Dual Link cable.

The adapter with DVI cable is connected to a KVM switch and works and that's all I needed. If you are tight for space, be aware that the whole connection (including the adapter and DVI cable) sticks out almost 4 inches pass the back of the Thinkpad / docking station where the Display Port is located.

Anytime I order "generic" cables online, I'm always wondering whether the cables will work or not. This time, the cable works.

CONS: Typically adapters should have some support to hold the weight strain of the cable / DP port.

Because of it's bulk, thought that it would block the other connections to my video card, but it doesn't! Now I'm able to use the display port on my video card, thanks! Competitor products are much more expensive, this is a good deal.

CONS: display port side might be a bit fragile, you probably don't want this for an application where you are constantly removing and inserting it!

The monoprice website pictures and descriptions were very helpful in selecting the correct product. The adapter works exactly as advertised. No software drivers to install. The adapter took just a couple of days to arrive by standard mail. The product was professionally packed. The price was the lowest I could find. A co worker recommended the monoprice website to me. I recommend it to you.

I deployed this in a corporate environment to allow dual display for a number of users who had been provided with new desktops. Within a few days several users had snapped the adapter off in the port by moving their desktop around or kicking the cable with their feet. The adapter is very stiff when inserted in the displayport socket. I've found that the cable type adapter does not suffer from this problem and would recommend it over this product.

CONS: Stiff construction of adapter head leads to breakage

The only bad thing about these is connecting nut screw is a bit short or the design is off a little so DVI cables cannot connect and stay secure on it. I also order the VGA version and the VGA version works great and have no connection fitment issues at all.

PROS: Order a couple of these and they all work as intended.

While it totally works, I wish it was a bit thinner and a flexible cable instead of a solid piece of plastic adapter. I needed to buy more, but since Monoprice did not make a flexible cable version of this, I opted to buy a display port to DVI-D cable from another company instead.

PROS: Works fine. Great Monoprice customer service.

CONS: Because of the design, after you plug it in to your video card, then plug in the DVI adapter, you have a cord which sticks out a few inches and is putting a lot of pressure on that display port adapter plug and feels like it will either break the video card or the adapter. I've had to prop up the cable so it will not bend under the weight. It is also a tight fit when dealing with low-profile cards.

I wish it's a flexible cable instead of hard plastic shell, that way, 2 (or more) can fit into the tight space allowed on a low-profile card.

PROS: Works as advertised.


CONS: DVI-end too wide for converting the 2 displayports on a low-profile video card, making it impossible to use more than 1 and a time.

Our use id fairly static and very little chance of stressing the adapter. Price is right so I bought extras in case we needed to replace.

PROS: Simple, easy to plug in on HP computer with 2 display ports. Is used to show patient xray images of what the doctors are working on. Price is very good.

CONS: As suggested in other posts, it's a fixed adapter that looks like it could break if stress is applied from the cable it's attached to.

This adapter works as advertised, but the bolts for the incoming screws from the DVI plug are too short so the connection is not as secure as I would like it to be. As long as you are implementing in an environment that is immobile, you should have no problem with these adapters.

Works with my HP Elitebook 8540 running Ubuntu. Cheap construction however, external plastic feels like if I twist it enough or pinch too hard it'll shatter. There is a "button/tab" on one side of it that does nothing, not sure of its purpose.

CONS: Cheap.

Works pretty well. Just snap it in and it locks into place. Plug in DVI cable and you are good to go.

-Certain DVI cables will not screw into the DVI portion of the adapter due to length DVI cable screws being short and length of the adapter

7 becuase it works fine but not a great fit for all situations. If the rear of the system is tight to a wall you'll want to go with a 45 degree or cable solution. If the dvi cable is too short and tugs on this extension you'll be putting strain on the port. I haven't had any fail but I'll be replacing several because of the space most of my users want to keep their PC in our desks.

CONS: Adds 2 inches to the rear of the system.

If cable is taut it puts strain on the port.

Did not work with Asus Z97 Deluxe motherboard and DVI monitor.
