Dual High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Banana Plugs, Black

Banana plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers that use traditional binding posts. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts.

This high-quality dual plug has two banana plugs spaced 3/4" center-to-center with a red plastic yoke, the typical distance between binding posts on speakers. The plugs are the open screw type and can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification.

The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections.

    • Can accept bare wire, spades, or other banana plugs
    • Can accept 12 to 18 AWG speaker wires
    • Color coded black/red rings for maintaining proper polarity
    • Secure, positive contact with binding posts
    • Corrosion resistant, 24K gold plated brass plug
    • Black plastic binding yoke

Check your receiver speaker terminal spacing first.
I've never had a problem before with these banana plugs till I purchased an Onkyo TX-NR656. I expected/assumed that receiver speaker terminals were a standard distance between each other for the + and -. Not so with my new Onkyo, so check first before ordering as you may need to go to the singles for a lessor cost.

    Not so high quality
The banana plugs are specified to accept 18 - 12 gauge wire. I find that the openings are quite large so no problem at the upper end but the screw does not bottom in the opening. Therefore, the 14 gauge wire still works fine (Im sure that 12 gauge would be OK too) but the 16 gauge wire is too thin for the screw to get enough bite to hold the wire securely - even doubling the wire by folding it over. Im sure 18 gauge wouldnt work at all. I would also say that the plastic looks and feels really cheap - although they do work otherwise.

I bought the separate banana plugs from MP a while ago. Nice, hefty units. I thought these would be the same, just joined by the plastic holder. Not at all. These also require the wire to be pushed into the connector perpendicular to it and mashed by twisting the barrels. Don't like them. At all.

CONS: Cannot be "backwired". Flimsy metal

    Plugs are Plugs
What else can I say? These are well made plugs, and are doing a good job.

fine speakers, but check your AVR jacks
They work fine as +/- banana plugs for my speakers, where the jacks are 3/4" apart, but the spacing of the +/- jacks on many AVRs (like my Denon) is 1", so these don't work at that end (though they would work to pair +/+ or -/- AVR jacks...but that would be most confusing). Would love for Monoprice to offer a set where the plugs are spaced 1" apart.

    PROS: inexpensive

CONS: plug spacing may not be right for all hardware

    Great Quaiity
These are better than most I have found at local audio dealers, at 1/3 the cost.

Good quality but didn't fit the spacing on my new Sony receiver. I cut the plastic connectors and installed individually. I actually like the way I had to install them because the plastic gives them a nice little handle.

    PROS: Good quality

    Screws didn't strip when tightened

CONS: Not spaced for my receiver

great product, with the right gauge wire.
These work great with the wall-plates that fit and on many amplifiers. The only downside is the speaker wire must be 14-12-gauge minimal to hold tight. When there's 16-gauge wire, you're out of luck.
