This adapter works great. I would have say to everyone here who wrote that it doesnt work, they have no idea what they are talking about. Its not a magic adapter. It does what it is designed to do. If you connected it to your computer and you didnt change your resolution and it doesnt work, then it is working exactly as it is designed to work. Most (about 95%) of CRT TVs only have a resolution of 640x480. If you tried to connect your laptop or PC to a TV and you have the resolution set higher than 640x480, it probably wont work. Even with a HD TV, you cant get a RES higher than that via SVIDEO or Composite video cable. I hate the way you guys bad mouth Monoprice because of your stupidity. If you want to convert a laptop signal to work on an HDTV or at a higher resolution you need a Video Convertor, not an adapter. They sell those too. Spend a little more money and stop being cheap. Instead of writing, It dont work (bad grammer intentional), it sucks, its bad, what a rip off, you should do your homework and you will eventually discover how dumb you are. Why not just email Monoprice first? They are more than happy to help. So there!

This product doesn't work with the new Macs. They produce only a Digital signal. So you can't plug this into an old CRT or analog TV. That is a box that will change the Digital signal to Analog.

I didn't have too much faith in this product so I ordered two of them hoping that one would work. That wasn't the case and I am stuck with two useless VGA adapter cables.Overall, I have ordered quite a bit of different cables from Monoprice. I have not used all of them yet, but 90% of the ones I have used, they seem to be ok. There was this thin HDMI cable I ordered may be two years ago which I just took out to use last month. It did not work either.

To whom it may concern, in order to output your laptop to a tv, you need these 2 things. An svideo cable (M-M) and an 3.5mm x 2 RCA jacks. I have got 2 links for you. This is what you need.

I have a quick queston for anyone who might know. My question is, shouldnt the RCA end be a male to fit into the back of the TV. Why is it female, im pretty sure you need a male end because the back of the TV has the female end. Am i wrong & if not, is there a work around? thanks for the help guys.

I haven't been able to hook it up! I have a hp laptop and an older TV so I adapt with the vga to s video and all I get is black blinking lines on the TV? Not sure if its the resolution, I tried changing that but still not picture. If anyone has any suggestions that would help

YES this adapter does not convert RCA composite or S-video to 15pin D-Sub. I didnt read the description carefully

It will work with VGA cards that has TVOut function capability through the VGA connector.
Check your Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TVOut function capability.

People complaining that you can no connect a laptop to a TV need to know that it is becasue you computer outputs in RGB and your TV needs NTSC. I just ordered this to test. One thing that some maybe overlooking is to lower your PC resolution to match the capability of your TV. If not done, then you will get a black or no signal screen. Most will accept 800x600, but once you get the signal to the TV, then you can play with higher settings.

Hi, Great price. I'm sure the cable works, but the warning they give you (make sure your video card supports VGA or A/V out) make sure your card supports that. I'm holding on to the cable though, in case I can get it to work on my video card. Great sale, great price, great delivery time.

For those who wonder it does not work with the Nvidia GeForce GTX260M. Also tried it with an older ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 and did not work either. Great product though, nice add-on to my arsenal of adaptors and cables. I'm sure I'll find a use for it sooner or later.

What is this product for? It does not work if you think you are going to connect a laptop docking station to a TV. I have no idea what this is for, but it should come with a warning that it definitely does not work for this application.

Even though HP told me that the computer would support the cord I needed a special driver to install if compatible.... To get the driver I have to call HP and pay for a service that costs over $50.00 to get them to even assist me, couldnt even tell me the possible driver i could install myself to get it to work.... So I know I am only out $7.64 since I bought 4 for my DJ company its the principal that these are now worthless and taking up space. Unless there is someone out there that knows how to get these to work I am now working on other resolutions to solve my video split problem.

Only works with certain VGA outputs and most computers do not come with a specification that tells you if this is compatible or not.

I bought this for my monitor to connect to my analog converter.. but I order the wrong one the OUt puts should be inputs.. I need that one where I can connect my vid. converter to my moniter has VGA.. but this has VGA out to RCA in.. which is not helping me.. I could`t send this because the return charges is more that my order price..

I used monoprice because I heard they have amazing customer service, and it wasn't a lie. I bought a VGA to S Video cord. It didn't work. I emailed saying it didn't work, promptly it was responded to and I was sent a new cord.

Unfortunately our dell does not support video out to the TV with this adapter. I'm sure I'll still find a use for it, for $2 it was a risk worth taking.

This was just what we needed to give grandpa a a larger screen for his netbook. He liked the netbook but needed to pass the output to his 30" tv. This did the trick!

I erroneously bought this, my system did not support svideo over vga. I ended up buying the alternate product mentioned. Doh!

I got it for connecting my tablet PC to a TV, but i didnt really expect it to work, and it doesn't.

But it DOES work with my old video card that has no tv-out of its' own, so it's still quite worth the whole few bucks i paid for it.

The picture is fair on my older 22" television (via RCA - i assume Svideo will be more crisp)

The pictures Monoprice have are at odd angles. This thing is actually about 10 inches long.

The svideo cable is nice and thick, but the RCA cable is surprisingly thin. I expected equal gauges....

Still totally worth th emonehy and it beats payign $20+ for a comparable product anywhere else.

Did not work for what I intended it for as older motherboards with VGA don't have the necessary support for this cable. So will not knock it down for this as it does work with a graphics card installed.

PROS: Great price. Worth the tryout.

CONS: Not as easily compatible as you would think.
