My PC has only one HDMI display port and no vga or other ports. I need this USB - VGA cable I want to connect a pc USB port to monitor as a second port because I work with to monitors. Does this cable work for me? Thanks

BEST ANSWER: No, this cable has nothing to do with monitors. This cable converts a USB port on your computer to a serial port for legacy devices that require a 9-pin serial port. You are probably looking for a USB to VGA adapter.

this cable is for connecting serial device via USB not video. You can use this to connect to routers and switches is you do not have a serial interface on your computer. USB doesn't transfer Video

You need a cable with a DE-15 port and an USB. Monitor connector is a port with three rows with female holes. Found the product by typing in Google.

No, this cable is for serial connection to use laptop for console connection into Cisco gear. Not intended for video

This cable would not work for that purpose. You would need a USB to VGA adapter for what you describe.

Probably good for some devices, not mine
Once you get the driver installed, windows sees it as COM3.
I have yet to succeed in connecting to my managed Gigabit switch with it though. Had to purchase a straight-thru gender changer (F-F) and a null modem cable. Still no success in communicating with the switch from Windows 10 using Putty. Driver comes on CD-ROM. Since my laptop does not have a CD-ROM, I had to search the web for the driver and download it.

Worked out of the box with Win10
I bought this cable, plugged it into my Lenovo Win10 laptop and it worked right out of the box.
The USB kept connecting and disconnecting in the first USB port that I tried so i moved the cable to a second port and it works fine. I'm not sure if I blame the port being a little worn or if it has to do with the USB version of that port. Great addition to my PC for the price.
