USB cables are not all equal. I use a charging current app to determine the rate of charge. Many cheaper cables throttle the current coming from the charger anywhere from 600 mA to 1000 mA. Not these cables. I get the full 1800 mA. This results in faster charging times and a rate that will exceed what your continued use of the device and display will be using.
PROS: Fastest charge possible.
Long mini-usb flange for inserting through thicker case openings
Works just fine to charge my smartphone with both low power computer USB port charging and high power charge using a Monoprice 12-outlet surge protector (PID: 9203). I don't do any sync'ing with my phone so I haven't tried that. The connector housing is small (thin) and LOOKS like it would connect to a phone that has a case around it.
My new tablet came with the flimsiest cable and charger imagineable. After only 3 months the cable wouldn't stay in and just fell out making charging impossible at worst and sometimes took 8 or 10 hours at best. This cable fits snugly and with a new charger my tablet is now completely charged in less than 2 hours.
The connection that these cables make is so solid that I like to plug it into my phone, hold it in the air, and swing it around like a pendulum.
The micro B connector works like that for several months, too, but it will ultimately wear down. The connection on the CABLE is supposed to do that per the spec-cables are cheaper to replace than USB ports are.
Buy a dozen, and when they're no longer up to snuff, throw them away. It's STILL cheaper than a single OEM cable for your device.
PROS: Superb quality. Very flexible. Excellent strain relief.
As long as Monoprice continues manufacturing such a nice cable at such a reasonable price, I will be back for more and more. The finished ends of the cables are what impressed me the most. The quality and price are excellent.
