BEST ANSWER: That is what I use mine for there is a limit for usb cable length Google it to find the information.

Great for flip
I bought this "extension" cable instead of a dedicated cable for my flip ultra hd (which was like $20) and it works perfectly. Love it.

Cables for HDTV
Since mid 2008 I have purchased all my cables from Monoprice and haven't had a bad one yet. 52" Sharp, the Dish DTR, Panasonic DVR recorder and Yamaha surround sound. That's a lot of cables, mostly hdmi, but also a couple of component sets, at the right length to avoid the usual cable mess back there.

Works as promised!
Great price - works great! I specifically use it to connect external hard drives and usb sticks to my wdtv live. I don't want to over use the jacks on the unit. This is perfect for that - and I imagine any other usb extension over a limited distance.
At this price - by a couple other lengths for long printer runs, and other things. Great item & price.
