Select Active Series High Speed HDMI Cable with RedMere Technology, 50ft

Reliably connect your home theater equipment to greater distances than with passive cables using this Select Active Series High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology from Monoprice!

This High Speed HDMI Cable supports the following general features:

    • Active signal regeneration to ensure accurate reproduction over longer distances
    • 10.2Gbps data throughput
    • CL2 in-wall fire safety rating
    • 28AWG copper conductors
    • Gold plated connectors

It supports the following HDMI features:

    • 1080p resolution at 60Hz
    • 4K resolution at 24Hz
    • 3D video
    • HDMI Ethernet Channel
    • Audio Return Channel
    • Deep Color up to 16-bits per channel
    • x.v.Color™
    • High Definition Audio, including SA-CD, DVD-Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio™, and Dolby TrueHD™

Note that Active HDMI cables are directional. Check each end for markings indicating whether it should be connected to the source or the display device. Connecting them backwards will not hurt anything, they just won't work until connected properly.

Note also that only one Active HDMI cable should be present in any single cable run, even if using a switch, splitter, or matrix. Connecting multiple active HDMI cables in series will cause them to fail to reliably transmit the video signal because each is trying to do the same thing.

TIP: It is a good idea to test cables and connections before installing them inside a wall. If there are any issues or problems, we can help you resolve them before you spend the time, effort, and expense of installing them inside the walls.

I am unable to use my Monoprice Active select series with Redmere technology with my iMac using an adapter HDMI to thunderbolt to connect to the iMac . I do know the cable work (50 ft long) as I have tried it with a laptop which I plugged one end to laptop HDMI adaptor and other end to my Samsung HDTV and it work fine . Even stranger, it work fine when I use a 30 Feet cable Monoprice Active select with my iMac and adapter HDMI to Thunderbolt. The only difference is the lenght of the cable 50 ft versus 30 feet. Does anybody have had this problem trying to connect from a iMac to an HDTV using a 50 ft cable ?

BEST ANSWER: Another trick is to first do setup operation with a shorter cable to the unrecognizable device. Use the device with the short cable so that it is proven to be hardware recognized and initialized, then try the long cable. Sometimes a signal only needs enough power to send the data; but the hardware recognition and initialization rendezvous requires too much power to get started.
I read a review that someone experienced issues with these keystones and the "redmere" series HDMI cables. Is this an issue? I'm running 50' redmere active HDMI cables.

BEST ANSWER: No problems with the keystone jacks. They are rather large if I remember correctly from installing them
I currently have a 40ft RedMere HDMI cable. The cable is capable of 4K@24h. My TV is 4K@60hz. Will I still be able to watch in 4K or will it downgrade to 1080?
    A shopper on Oct 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You will still be able to watch 4K with little to no downgrading.
Can you tell me if any of the HDMI cables will also pass infrared controls to change channels on a cable box? I want to connect a cable box that is about 50' away and, for obvious reasons, I need to be able to use the remote control.
    Thank you

BEST ANSWER: Your TV needs to support HDMI-CEC and it needs to be turned on for this to work.
    Will these support dolby atmos?

I routed two Redmere cables through walls/ceilings when constructing a basement media closet to a theater. I tested the cables prior to installation, and ensured they were installed correctly (the display end at the projector/VT and the source end at the media closet). After installing the projector and receiver, I tested the cables with a Denon e400 receiver and an Epson 3020 projector. I had some initial trouble getting a connection established, but after a few tries, it worked. Both picture and sound were sent just fine, and CEC signals from the sink were received at the source.

But after three days, I could no longer establish a connection. One weird symptom is that when the Redmere cable is connected to the Denon e400 receiver and the projector, the receiver will not send any audio to the speakers. When I disconnect the cable from the projector (to switch from HDMI1 to HDMI2), it starts sending audio to the speakers again. To troubleshoot, I connected different devices at both ends of the cable, switched to different ports at both ends of the cable, and verified that connection with a shorter, standard cable was working. The main connection is from the receiver to the projector location, but I also tested a longer receiver to television connection. Neither of the Redmere cables is working. Luckily, I installed multiple CAT-6 cables to the same locations, so HDBASET is an option, and I have a kit on order now.

Bottom line: both cables no longer work. Unfortunately, they are permanently installed in the walls, so I can't easily remove them for a return.

CONS: Stopped working after 3 days of use.

60 ft. length does not pass 1080p
We ordered a bunch of the 30-ft. cables and two 60-footers for a computer rollout stage event. All of the 30-footers worked, except for one DOA unit. Returned the bad 30-footer and was sent another DOA cable. After the 2nd return was sent a working unit.

The 60-footers are another storythey won't pass 1080p (at 50 or 60 Hz) 1080i is fine, but not 1080p. Have sent them back twice, but the story is the same: must be a design limit. I tried to get alternate 50' replacements from the higher speed Cabernet series, but they just returned the same product. Still working on getting what I want. I hope in the future Monoprice will post individual specs for the longer lengths that state what resolutions they will pass.

PROS: Rugged cable, not too thick, that runs 1080p 30 feet reliably. Reasonably priced.

CONS: The 60 foot length does not pass 1080p. Wish the website showed which resolutions work with the longer lengths. Also, there appears to be some quality control issues with the 30' length recently.

great, 1080P, blu ray, onkyo, and Dish DVR
wanted this when heard in February that Mono would be getting it, signed up for alert and ordered as soon as available. it was worth the wait. it is stamped on the cord 28AWG. incredible. flexible as any "normal" 6ft. HDMI cable. solid connections on both ends to my receiver and TV. did not even need port protectors or HDMI "bend joints". just one solid cable run, nothing else in between.

My set up on the "source" end is Onkyo receiver. the "display" end of the cable is Philips LCD. sony bluray and Dish 722 DVR output to the receiver in the closet at the back of my living room. bluray outputs in perfect 1080p video, no artifacts.

well worth the wait. you can rig up multiple cables and equalizers, etc. but if you want a clean HDMI run w/ high speed specs, go with this cable.

    Didn't Work!
Tried this cable and will return due to 720p signal not making it to my projector. Chat support recommended the Cabernet series as a replacement. We shall see if it solves the problem! I appreciate the ease with which I can return and try another product, as well as the online support.

PROS: Cable seems to be well constructed and is very pliable.

CONS: Doesn't pass 1080p or 720p signal reliably

    Works perfectly
I was advised by the tech expert that this would be the best HDMI cable for my purpose. He was correct. Works great with no problems.

We ran this from a camera booth at the back of our church sanctuary to a HDTV display in the lobby. Hand shaking happens quickly and the picture and sound are solid. As a test we also ran this 50' cable in series with a 30' for a total of 80' which worked equally as well.

PROS: Relatively thin and supple. Works perfectly

    CONS: None

HDMI to the other side of room!
My home theater has been waiting for the RedMere cable for several months. I jumped at the chance to purchase the 50' when MonoPrice got their first batch in.
Now my projector is connected to the A/V in the closet on the other side of the room.
I had absolutely no issues with it.

    PROS: 50' HDMI works great!
Light weight and easy to route.
    Low price

    CONS: None
