Select Active Series High Speed HDMI Cable with RedMere Technology, 15ft

Reliably connect your home theater equipment to greater distances than with passive cables using this Select Active Series High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology from Monoprice!

This High Speed HDMI Cable supports the following general features:

    • Active signal regeneration to ensure accurate reproduction over longer distances
    • 10.2Gbps data throughput
    • VW-1 in-wall fire safety rating
    • 28AWG copper conductors
    • Gold plated connectors

It supports the following HDMI features:

    • 1080p resolution at 60Hz
    • 4K resolution at 24Hz
    • 3D video
    • HDMI Ethernet Channel
    • Audio Return Channel
    • Deep Color up to 16-bits per channel
    • x.v.Color™
    • High Definition Audio, including SA-CD, DVD-Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio™, and Dolby TrueHD™

Note that Active HDMI cables are directional. Check each end for markings indicating whether it should be connected to the source or the display device. Connecting them backwards will not hurt anything, they just won't work until connected properly.

Note also that only one Active HDMI cable should be present in any single cable run, even if using a switch, splitter, or matrix. Connecting multiple active HDMI cables in series will cause them to fail to reliably transmit the video signal because each is trying to do the same thing.

TIP: It is a good idea to test cables and connections before installing them inside a wall. If there are any issues or problems, we can help you resolve them before you spend the time, effort, and expense of installing them inside the walls.

Can anyone tell me the diameter of the cable? I would like to tuck it under the trim at the wall (carpeted floor).

BEST ANSWER: It is roughly 3-4mm. It's a bit thicker than an iPhone cable and is just a little thinner than my Dell keyboard's USB cable.
if you can only have one of these in a setup, where should I use it in mine. connecting tv to receiver, or cable box to receiver?

Did not work in this configuration
If you are looking for a cable to connect 2 wall plates, this is not it. The product description states "They can be used in any application in which a normal HDMI cable can be used and many applications where HDMI extenders would otherwise be required!". This is not 100% true. They can not be used to go between two wall plates - this should be emphasised. The "display" end of the cable must be connected to a display / sync device in order for the internal chip to get the required power to run.

PROS: light weight, would be easy to route through walls

CONS: Product description requires an amendment.

Redmere cable use thru wallplate N/G
I will order longer cables of this type to direct connect to my components.

PROS: Easy to manage behind my TV.

CONS: I wish I read a previous review that stated that these cables cannot be used thru a wallplate.
    They cannot.
Info on website and on the tiny piece of paper that comes with the cable needs to be updated.
I found out the hard way after connecting them. I had to mix and match these cables with other HDMI cables I ordered to get my TV to work

    No issues
    See pros and cons.

PROS: Good cable. Light, flexible, awesome.

CONS: Can't really think of any. I guess, if you are an idiot, you might not understand that these are unidirectional and will try to plug them in the wrong way. But if you're not an idiot, then this is great.

    redmere cable
I have 40 foot and 15 foot cables with redmere and both give the same picture and sound. I don't know if these are better than the other high speed cables that monoprice sells but they are easier to use. I have never had a bad cable from monoprice. I bought these because I have a 3D projector and wanted to be sure the 40 foot cable would be good at 40 feet out from the DVD player to the projector. It is good.

PROS: thin and easy to make bends and thread through holes. Great picture

    CONS: none known

Select Active Series High Speed HDMI® Cable with RedMere® Technology, 15ft
I use there for travel as I always have a pc with me and have my own content so when I am in a hotel I can easily connect to the TV monitor. Problem was normally I had to use a short cable and need to find a place to put the PC. Now I have a nice long cable that is actually easier to transport and I can put the PC anywhere I want. These produce an excellent picture and the sound was good also. So they gave me what I wanted.

PROS: Very light weight, easily transportable cable

    Works as advertised

    Quality product

    Performed perfectly

CONS: None that I know of

Thin, thin, thin quality HDMI cable: Hallelujah!
The HDMI cables that are ~0.5-inches in diameter are murder to routethey're not flexible, hang heavy at the couplers on TV and receiver. This new, small-diameter-cable HDMI cable is no more expensive than they are (and compared to anywhere else they're just plain CHEAP here). All of my A-V cables and connectors have come from Monoprice since 2008. Given their pricing, web site security, efficient order/shipping process, quality of their products, and did I mention pricing, I don't bother looking anywhere else.

PROS: Thin, easily routed HDMI cable.

    HDMI Cable
This is exactly what I needed for my HDMI entertainment center. This cable is nice and thin as described and I will be ordering more in the future. I am fully satisfied with said cable and I would advise family and friends to purchase HDMI cables for Monoprice. I really like their cables.

PROS: Nice and thin and the design is unique.

CONS: Signal travels in one direction only and the cable has labels at both ends to instruct proper hook up.

    Xbox One Warning!
The cable acted like it plugged into my Xbox One, but the TV would not pick it up. Tried with different cable (I purchased 3) and same thing. Tried again with old HDMI cable and worked no problem. Had to use an adapter that came with Chromecast for this cable to work

PROS: Cables are nice and thin

CONS: Connector doesnt seem to fit into the Xbox One HDMI slot all the way

    Doesn't work with iPad Air
Works with some equipment, doesn't work with others. iPad Air to Vizio TV - no luck. Lenovo laptop with mini to HDMI adapter to Vizio - no luck. Tried cable in both directions. Tried another RedMere cable in both directions - no luck. Switch to another brand of HDMI cable and it works perfectly. I've found these cables only work with some equipment.

    PROS: Flexible cables.

CONS: Doesn't work with iPad Air using Apple's expensive HDMI adapter. Doesn't work with Lenovo laptop and HDMI adapter. Test them before you leave with them on a trip and expect to watch movies on a big screen TV from your iPad or laptop.

    Response from Monoprice
    Hi Craig,

Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about your experience with PID 9169. Keep in mind redmere cables are directional, can you verify that the source end is connected to the the source device and the display end is connecting directly to the TV? For trouble shooting purposes, have you tried testing the cable with another device without an adapter to verify if the cable is defective? Also would you happen to have your order number so that I may look further into the matter? Please let me know so that I may further assist you. Thank you in advance!

Worse performance than regular HDMI for me
I have a long (regular) HDMI running through the attic to get from one side of the room to the other. One end comes out and goes to the tv, the other end goes to an HDMI wallplate. I had been using a 25ft, 26awg regular HDMI cable from the wallplate to my laptop, and it worked, but there was a bit of purple pixelization in some spots. Replaced that cable with this 15ft Redmere and it is completely unwatchable. Screwed up colors, jittery pixture, lines across the screen. I'm surprised a shorter Redmere is doing much much worse than a longer regular HDMI.

PROS: Nice and thin and flexible.

CONS: Worse transmission of signal than regular HDMI in my situation.
