I need a cable that goes from the computers usb port to
    a smart tv?
    A shopper on Oct 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: What are you trying to do? Most TVs are meant to host USB peripherals like USB drives, not *be* a USB peripheral for a computer. The rectangular USB connection is generally only on the host side with the other various connections (mini, micro, etc) on the other side for the peripherals. If you are looking for a USB cable with the rectangular connector on both sides you probably need to rethink what you’re trying to do.

    Just what I needed
Just a note for Mac users: Check with Apple (online or at an Apple Store) to verify the correct cable to use for "Target Display mode". In the case of my Thunderbolt-equipped mini and Minidisplayport-equipped iMac, it's this cable that permits the mini to use the iMac's screen (and speakers!)

    PROS: Works exactly as represented.

    CONS: None.

    Nice Cable
Oops - didn't read description closely enough to see that this is a MINI Displayport. Cable is so inexpensive that it isn't worth the effort and shipping cost to return. Don't make same mistake that I did!

PROS: Typical, high quality Monoprice cable. Inexpensive.

    Pin 20 erroneously connected
Looks like Monoprice has fallen victim to the "pin 20 connected" plague that so many DisplayPort cable manufacturers don't realize is a problem. Pin 20 is a POWER pin that is not supposed to be connected on usual cables (only captive cables for peripherals). Since my Dell monitor drives voltage over this pin, it dumps voltage directly onto the PCIe bus of my Mac, which knocks out WiFi while it's plugged in. On my previous laptop, the same problem actually destroyed my WiFi card *twice* before I caught on. If you have a Mac and you use WiFi, don't buy this cable.

PROS: Works with 4K at 60Hz on my Mac

CONS: Destroys WiFi on my Mac

I got them to connect my macbook pro to my imac but they are not been detected.
