10 + years back I bought I bought 12 gauge wire from monoprice, oxygen free cooper it was 100 feet, I probably spend 25$ on it, that roll has 36 feet left if that, I have since moved and in the new room I need at lest 93 feet of wire. Longest run of wire I gonna need is probably 38 feet, and from there the run will get lower and lower, Thing is I gonna run the wire under a carpet along the walls, And I found that 12 gauge to be bit to thick, I am assuming 14 gauge will much better, cause with it cover on it too thick and I find the wires when exposed is to thick to thread properly into my speakers and receiver current speakers and receiver have to have the actually wires thread into them.
Will 14 gauge or even 16 gauge be ok for running the wires under carpet around the side the walls to where they need to be? Nothing will be placed on top of where the wires will be ran under the carpet other then the carpet. 1 cable run will be 38 (feet Rear Left), all other speaker runs will be 23 (Rear Right), 15 (Front Left), 11 (Front Right) , 8 (Center) if I choose to just staple them to side of wall bottom frame this wont matter but I don't want to see the wires.
The quality of this cable is awesome. Ive seen cable twice the price of this for the same amount.. and for lesser quality. Cant beat it. Shipping was a bit - due to the weight I guess.. but it still ends up being 1/2 the price of any store/retail giant.
This wire is about the same price as the low priced stuff you can find on the shelf at your local home center, but it is the same quality product as the much more expensive wire. Very easy to work with, strips cleanly, and a nicely clear, untinted jacket. My only complaint is that my 100 ft spool was short by a goodly amount. Fortunately, this is Monoprice, who calculated a larger refund than I requested and provided it with no questions asked. The product is inexpensive and high quality. The customer service is even higher quality.
PROS: Copper, copper, copper
CONS: Quality control for measurement could be better
Wow...This is 100% stranded copper wire. Be careful when buying speaker wire, because most of the junk being sold nowadays is copper clad aluminum. It makes a HUGE difference in your resistance values. Do you want quality? This is quality merchandise from a reputable vendor. Great price!! An absolute no-brainer.
I was totally impressed with the product, but honestly had my doubts at first what the quality of the product would be .that is. till it showed up at my house..extremely high quality product..blew me away! their products are really that good..very impressed with product and price and shipping time..would recommend monoprice to anybody!
PROS: fast service, supper prices and really quality products
What can I say? This is good speaker cable. It worked great to replace the thin stuff that came with my home theater package, and is comparable to some ancient Monster XP speaker cable I bought years ago that is on my old stereo system. Why pay the extra cost of the Monster name when you can get the exact same quality for less?
