75ft 18AWG CL2 Premium 5-RCA Component Video/Audio Coaxial Cable (RG-6/U) - Black
Component video, also known as YPbPr, produces the highest quality analog video. This cable includes conductors for each of the three video channels (Red, Green, Blue) as well as the two stereo audio channels (Red and White) and is ideal for connecting the analog output of DVD players and VCRs to the corresponding inputs on your TV.
The video conductors in this cable are made from RG-6 coaxial cable, with 18AWG cores and shielding to prevent EMI and RFI interference from disturbing your video signal. The audio lines utilize 27AWG stranded conductors. The connectors are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The connector housings have color-coded, knurled rubber rings for easy identification and a perfect grip when installing or removing the cable.
This cable is CL2 rated, indicating that it conforms with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use through or within the walls of residential class buildings.
Color Coded: Green, Red and Blue (Component Video) & Red, White (Stereo Audio)
- Triple heavy-duty super shielded RG-6/U coaxial cables to maximum signal transfer and minimize interference.
- Gold plated RCA plugs to improve conductivity.
- Color coded and labeled for the luminance (Y) and chrominance (Pr, Pb) Signals.
- Solid center conductor: 18 AWG (1*1.02) Super shielding: 120 % aluminum foil + 9*16/0.12 Braid
Fully molded construction. Excellent quality.
- 26 AWG (10/0.12) Super shielding: 120 % aluminum foil + 48/0.12 Braid
With this cable, the signal is clear and strong with no signs of any interference. I will use these cables for in wall aps from now on.
Took one star off because the connectors' soldering is fragile and on two of this type of cable purchased previously, a lead has come off one of the audio jacks. No problems with the recently installed cable, however.
PROS: Shipping was timely, item built of quality materials, worked great.
PROS: ALL GOOD!
PROS: Works perfectly. Excellent construction.
CONS: A bit stiff, so don't use in areas where lots of flexibility is needed.
PROS: Heavy duty. Solid construction.
CONS: None that I can tell.
Instead of getting another DVR for the living room I wanted to run the signal from the existing DVR from downstairs to upstairs.
I found a device on Amazon (Tripplite B136-100) that used a single CAT-5 cable to extend component video and audio. It did work but the picture was less than ideal and had interference bands throughout the picture. Most of the time I couldn't see them but the times I could see them were annoying. For some reason CBS programming was especially bad. I think part of the problem was there was no amplification of the signal.
I did some research and found some options that used two Cat-5 cables to transmit the signal and had amplification but they were in the $300 (and up) price range.
As a result I ended up doing some research and found that I should be able to get away with 75ft cables for component video and stereo audio.
So I decided to try these cables. They arrived yesterday while we were watching TV. I took a few minutes to swap out the Tripplite adapter for this cable and the difference was astounding. The colors are more vivid and the interference bands are gone.
I wish I had tried this option first as the Tripplite adapter was $55 and the 100ft CAT5 cable was another $30. I will be buying another one of these to connect the DVD changer. Then everything we can watch downstairs will be watchable upstairs.
Now I have to do is "bury" the cable which just means getting it down the wall to the basement and over to the home theater area but that should only take about an hour.
If you are able to run these cables it definitely seems like the way to go.
