    What is the outer diameter of this 16AWG cable?

    BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! The OD of the 5287 16AWG power cable is 8.4mm.
    Will the 16AWG cable work fine with my pair of Dynaudio BM15A Studio Monitors or should I get another type of cable such as the 14AWG or the 18AWG?

    BEST ANSWER: The short answer is yes. So would the 18 gauge. The lower the gauge number of the wire, the larger the wire, and the higher the current carrying capabilities. As the wire get physically larger, the resistance inherent in the wire decreases, which means less voltage drop over the length of the wire.

    Looking at the specs of your monitors, the max power consumption is stated to be 300 watts. That would equate to 2.5 amps. A 15 foot length of 16 gauge wire would have a voltage drop of 0.15 volts at maximum power draw. For comparison, the same length of 18 gauge would have a 0.24 volt drop, and 14 gauge would drop .095v.

    Personally, I would get the 18 gauge and get back to making music!
