20ft Premium 3.5mm Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Female 22AWG Extension Cable (Gold Plated) - Black
The 3.5mm (1/8") stereo TRS connector is more commonly known as the Headphone Jack on portable mp3 players and mobile phones. This cable features a male 3.5mm stereo (TRS) plug on one end and a female 3.5mm stereo jack on the other end, each with molded connector housings and strain relief boots. Each connector is gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections.
The cable is made of heavy-duty coaxial cable for each conductor. The conductors are 22AWG and each conductor is shield to prevent EMI or RFI interference from entering your audio system. The cable is 12mm x 6mm thick, while the connector housings are 41mm long x 15mm diameter.
Because of their size and weight these cables are best suited for more permanent connections, such as from your PC to your sound system. If you want something more suitable for portable applications, please try one of our standard 3.5mm audio cables.
PROS: Definitely heavy-duty, premium cables. 20 ft cable probably weighs over a pound.
CONS: As others have noted, a bit over-kill for what I needed. Just wanted to listen to my big-screen TV from my couch without waking up the wife after hours. I feel kinda silly plugging my earbuds into these, but they do perform as advertised and do the job!
As always, the best cables from the other guys aren't as good as Monoprice's standard cables. As for the premium cables, I have never seen a headphone cable this nice and I am an audiophile.
PROS: Cables are very durable.
CONS: These cables are thick and heavy which does not lend themselves well to a headphone extension. I should have ordered "a lower grade" as did not understand the difference.
I use this to plug my headphones into the home stereo, and since it sits on a shelf about 4 feet off the ground, the extra weight of the cable can be an issue on the stereo connector if it's not balanced. Otherwise it works great so far.
PROS: Solid build quality
CONS: Can stress the connector when plugged in due to its weight
Second the cable is huge and heavy and not useful for much of anything.
The price fooled me into thinking these were just high quality normal 3.5mm extension cables, which they are not. These would be something I would expect to see in a HiFi speciality shop selling for what ever the owners conscience could bear.
I bought several of these cables in different lengths with the intention of using them as extensions for connecting phone, iPod, Ipad, and headphones to various gear.
While the cable is very flexible it is much to heavy to be plugging into a 3.5mm jack.
The cable is a molded twin lead design with the insulation for each lead being about the diameter of the average computer AC power cord.
Each end terminates into a heavy duty molded connector appropriately sized to match the girth and weight of the rest of the cable.
