3ft Premium 3.5mm Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Female 22AWG Extension Cable (Gold Plated) - Black

The 3.5mm (1/8") stereo TRS connector is more commonly known as the Headphone Jack on portable mp3 players and mobile phones. This cable features a male 3.5mm stereo (TRS) plug on one end and a female 3.5mm stereo jack on the other end, each with molded connector housings and strain relief boots. Each connector is gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections.

The cable is made of heavy-duty coaxial cable for each conductor. The conductors are 22AWG and each conductor is shield to prevent EMI or RFI interference from entering your audio system. The cable is 12mm x 6mm thick, while the connector housings are 41mm long x 15mm diameter.

Because of their size and weight these cables are best suited for more permanent connections, such as from your PC to your sound system. If you want something more suitable for portable applications, please try one of our standard 3.5mm audio cables.

Amazing quality for this price level
I've been the guy who typically ran over to Radio Shack whenever I needed a headphone extension or other common audio parts. This time I only needed 3' and didn't think the $9 or so was justified, nor did I NEED it that day, so I ran over to Monoprice where I've gotten my HDMI cables and such. For this really low price, I've saved quite a bit.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the package and instead of the usual thin cable with the standard jack/plug on each end, I find a crazy thick well insulated thing with two separate independently insulated cables running the length, and the connectors at each end are similarly thick, industrial strength, and look as if a car could probably run them over without so much as scratching it.

Does it work? Yeah. I haven't heard so much as a hint of static or interference, and bumping the cable or either the jack or plug didn't introduce any issues. Cables of lower quality do pick up some noise, at least when moved around or bumped, and that doesn't happen with this one.

The downside is that if you NEED a thinner cable because of the space you're running it through, or you're close to one end and the weight of the cable itself would be an issue, this is probably going to be too thick for you. If you're OK with the thickness, you'll be getting the most durable and interference-free cable you've ever bought unless you've previously bought one of the overpriced Monster cables, I guess.

    PROS: *THICK!!*
    * Durable
    * Works flawlessly

CONS: *Could be TOO thick for some uses

    Making it work
I bought two of these a few months back, one for me and one for my coworker. If you plug headphones directly into it, it either doesn't work at all, or sounds really bad. I have MacGyver'd it with tape and a bead so that my headphones are barely plugged in and hitting the side, and it sounds fine. The only annoyance with this is that when I move it sometimes pulls it out. we've had them for a few months, now finally going to purchase some better ones.

    Works, very heavy duty
Does what it's advertised for at a reasonable price. Extremely heavy duty construction. Would have preferred a "normal" quality version in 3ft, but Monoprice does not sell one as of this review.

PROS: Wanted a 3ft extension for at work. This was the only one in stock and I didn't pay attention to actual picture. This thing is WAY over built for the job.

CONS: Did not work correctly with a pair of headphone with a built-in mic (meaning 4 "bands" on the plug). This is a common issue with many headphone jacks. When fully plugged in the left and right channels would cancel out and you end up with a very quite, muted version of the original sound. Ended up buying some cheap headphones for work with no mic and the cable works exactly as it would be expected to.

    Looks can be deceiving
This what I was looking for, something sturdy, the right length for what I use going to use it for, but it didn't work correctly. That is to say that when I plugged in my headphone jack I only got one channel. When I would pull the jack out I could get both channels, kind of. For a dollar seventy I am not complaining, but they aren't as premium as I was hoping. Everythng else from the order I placed worked just fine.

    PROS: STURDY

    CONS: Did not work

Would be nicer to have had the option for a larger gauge variant of this item. As is, the cable is way too large for personal use.

    Not what I expected
I just needed a short extension of my earphone cable. The cable is ten times thicker than what I expected making this extension very heavy and inflexible. Doesn't suit the purpose I intended. The gold plated cable ends are chrome. Only mistake I made was ordering two of them so I have two nearly useless extensions for my earphones.

PROS: Right length. They are functional.

CONS: Very heavy, too heavy, for a short earphone extension.

First the cable is very good quality.
Second the cable is huge and heavy and not useful for much of anything.
The price fooled me into thinking these were just high quality normal 3.5mm extension cables, which they are not. These would be something I would expect to see in a HiFi speciality shop selling for what ever the owners conscience could bear.
I bought several of these cables in different lengths with the intention of using them as extensions for connecting phone, iPod, Ipad, and headphones to various gear.
While the cable is very flexible it is much to heavy to be plugging into a 3.5mm jack.
The cable is a molded twin lead design with the insulation for each lead being about the diameter of the average computer AC power cord.
Each end terminates into a heavy duty molded connector appropriately sized to match the girth and weight of the rest of the cable.

Go to a local store and pay 10x the amount for a lesser cable.

    Great deal!
These cables are of excellent quality and you can't beat the price.

PROS: Excellent quality + low price

CONS: Ummmm......... none that I've found.

    Great item
I'm no audiophile, but this thing gets the job done when extending my monitors audio to my speakers!

    PROS: No noticeable sound loss
