    25ft RCA Plug/Plug M/M cable - Black

Despite the introduction of more advanced audio and video signal cables, such as HDMI® and Toslink, most audio and a large number of video connections still use the common RCA connector.

This is a single-channel cable with a male RCA plugs with molded connector housings and strain relief boots on each end. The cable is is ideal for short, low-frequency connections, such as standard audio signals. For higher-frequency signals, such as for RF or composite video, over longer lengths we recommend the use of one of our premium RG-6 or RG-59 based cables.

Not recommended for connection to subwoofer, use coax RG59 or RG6 instead
My cable turned out to be defective for connection between receiver and subwoofer. Spent several hours trying to troubleshoot a humming and buzzing problem until I discovered a tiny cut in the wire. The cut did not expose any actual metal from the wire, but it was enough to cause buzzing noise from my sub. I replaced it with RG6 coax (PID 3976) and problem solved.

    PROS: Very flexible.

CONS: No shielding. Very susceptible to subwoofer hum.

Total trash RCA's threw them away
Cheap RCA's may be OK for short lengths, but at 25 feet, there was an absurd amount of noise in the line. I was attempting to use these for line-level connections and this cable is simply too cheap for anything you'd be likely to turn up. At any reasonable volume the noise is readily audible. My wife even had huge problems with the noisy sound. Don't attempt these cables for any but the very lowest of requirements. They are not suitable for any serious use. I threw mine out. Save yourself the cost of replacements and use a higher quality cable for a 25 foot run.

PROS: Carries a signal. Useful for cheap projects with no quality requirements.

CONS: Terrible noise performance. This cable should never be used at this length.

Not for Subwoofers! Not Enough Shielding For Length!
The wires are thin but initially worked for Composite Video, but when I finished my setup and moved the wires to my two subwoofers, they each produced a hum when the av receiver was turned off. When the receiver was turned on, the hum went away. Another user recommended PID 3976. 4x's as much, but necessary to avoid the interference.

PROS: Very low cost and very long.

CONS: Introduced a loud "Hum" into my subwoofers when the receiver was turned off. Lack of shielding picks up interference along entire length of cord.

    Response from Monoprice
    Hello Mr. Ross,

My apologies for the trouble you had with the rca cable you ordered. The 655 isn't as heavily shielded as our actual subwoofer cable which you will probably want to consider as you mentioned another user recommended. They are shielded against RF and EMI frequencies. If you like I can set up an RMA for a return on the 655 cable, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

    Sincerely

    Tjayi Malone

loud buzzing sound when connecting my correctly working sub. Checked with an ohm meter and center and outside are connected when flexing the ends. Not worth shipping back due to cost. I cut the ends off to replace and found that the gauge of wire is very small and poorly shielded. Not worth placing new ends on. I went loca just so I could get my Sub moved.

    PROS: Cheap

    CONS: DOA

    Good Cable
If you need a 25' RCA cable, here it is.

PROS: Inexpensive, effective, and it works.

CONS: A little thin. It still has plenty of shielding though.

    Good Cable
If you need a 25' RCA mono cable, this is it.

PROS: Works great. I used it to connect my powered sub woofer to my receiver and it does the job. It works just as well as the overpriced "sub cables" that retail stores try to sell you.

CONS: A little thin. But for $2 you can hardly complain.
