    6ft 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable - Black

The 3.5mm (1/8") stereo TRS connector is more commonly known as the Headphone Jack on portable mp3 players and mobile phones. This cable features a male 3.5mm stereo (TRS) plug on each end, with molded connector housings and strain relief boots. The cable is ideal for connecting a stereo audio output, such as an mp3 player or phone, to a stereo audio input, such as the auxiliary input on a car stereo system.

    3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable - 6ft, ID=644
    Pro: Cheap, flexible and light.
Con: Bad metal contact material, not for uninformed users.
    Solution:
Use contact grease, Silicone grease, or Teflon grease (Radio Shack). **Absolutely** no ordinary grease, auto grease. Curiously, auto engine oil maybe OK. [Note: Not responsible for damage.]
Thinly coat the contact (the jack or the plug), to prevent metal contact separation, or future metal oxide forming that causes intermittent problems (manifest as click and pops, 'shorts', hum, etc.)
The low price provides fun and enjoyment for cheap, poor, unaffordable people like me.
    The Cause:
Bad metal contact material is especially frequent for ear phone jacks and plugs. It is not immune to name brands.
This design "spec" problem is really an abuse in quality control. The spring pressure on the contact, and contact area are specified in the design.
If the contact metal quality is lowered, the spring pressure may not be high enough to hold the contact for reliable conduction. Worse, metal oxide, an insulator, forms over time, encroaches on the contact slowly, creating acute intermittent contact problem in the future.
    More problem:
Many makers, relentlessly being push to providing lower cost, simply change the plating material (very important).
When dis-similar metal types are in contact, it may form semiconductor junction that is not true electrical contact (manifest as hum and low bandwidth).
Many makers resort to superficial metal color to sell. Gold color is not Gold. A large physical metal size for the plug, and thick cable are do the selling (plastic is much cheaper than precious metal). But the underlying material engineering design is lacking.

    UNSHIELDED cable!
The description implies that this cable is shielded (since the applications listed require shielding), and shielded cables are the standard for 3.5mm cables. This cable, however, is not shielded. (I cut one cable open to make an adapter, realized the problem, and cut open 3 cables from the same order to confirm.) I'd recommend not using this cable for anything other than connections between an amplifier and speakers.

    PROS: decent build quality

CONS: At least as shipped to me recently, this is an unshielded cable! The description recommends it for connecting ipods, etc., to other audio devices. Since the cable is not shielded, it should NOT be used for this type of application at all, since it will be prone to picking up hum and buzz. The only proper use for this cable is between an amplifier and speaker.

    Low quality cable
I would say that this cable is just "OK".

I've owned several and they tend to short out if you plug and unplug them often.

The wire appears to be very thin and fragile near the plugs. Of course, they are "economy" quality and price. The "Premium" version of this wire cost about double the price, and is a much better cable, however, the cable is over twice the size. It's like both wires are heavily insulated and tend to make it bulky and heavy. The best option is the cable "Designed for Mobile", however these cables are four times the price of the 6 ft. cable I purchased ( .88 vs 3.37)

    PROS: Price

    CONS: Thin wire

I got two of these because the price was good. It's been almost exactly two months since then and both of them are broken.

    PROS: Worked well. Good price.

CONS: Broke after about a month.

    Exactly what I needed
Thanks to monoprice's amazing prices, I was able to buy this as an impulse purchase when I realized my desktop computer speakers had a second 3.5mm input in the back I wasn't using. I purchased this cable, and it arrived quickly. Now I can leave the cable plugged in, and if I want to hear something from my phone over my computer speakers I can easily plug it in. Very convenient.

    Monoprice rules.

PROS: Allowed me to connect my phone to my desktop speakers

    CONS: None

    Another Great Buy
I'm constantly amazed at MonoPrice being able to provide great products at such unbelievable prices. It's like a stroll back in time. Where else can you find cables for 68 cents and 89 cents? Answer: You can't. This was a very simple purchase for this cable. My son had a guitar amp that had a jack on it for an iPod. We used this double male cable to plug his iPod in to the amp so he could crank it up and play along. Flawless. Thank you MonoPrice. I will continue purchasing from this vendor.

PROS: Great products at unbelievable prices. Flawless shipping.

CONS: No retail outlet. Would be great to walk in and buy everything and not wait.

    Great company
Monoprice is just a superb company. Their service reps are polite, prices are terrific (an understatement), and shipping is quick. I always come to Monoprice without even looking elsewhere.

PROS: It's a cable. I ordered this one when I also ordered several microphone cables. The microphone cables are terrific (see that review) and so is this one.

    CONS: None.

Cable to connect headphones to cd/radio player?
    A shopper on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you have bluetooth wireless headphones that have an aux jack as a backup input, then these will work for you. However, if you have standard headphones with the cable attached, then you will need the extender mentioned above.
