I'm using this cable to connect my router right to my Playstation from across the house. I was warned there are 2 different types of Ethernet cables... Patch and something else. I can't remember which one was which but I'm using an Optimum router. Do you know if this cable will work for my application?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work.

About the "two types", you may be thinking of crossover cables. These days you'll find most all devices, especially routers, auto detect whether a cable is wired as crossover or straight through, so you're good either way.

These flat Cat5e cables make it easier to hide temporary hard-wired runs to places that are difficult and/or expensive to place a new drop (such as offices with a drop on the opposite wall).

It's also easy to carry a 10 or 20 ft length in a compact roll in a travel bag.

PROS: Flat construction makes it easy to run and hide in tight spaces along walls/floorboards. Shorter lengths can roll neatly into travel bags.

CONS: Easier to damage than standard round cable

White option would be useful in some situations.

    Looks great spray painted white
I just spray painted it white with a $0.99 can of paint fr Walmart and it looks great, then I used sticky tack to run it around doorways and baseboards to get to my living room.

PROS: Easy to hide around doorways and baseboards, can easily be spray painted

CONS: Doesn't come in white to match my walls

    Very well packaged, works great
This cable is packaged extremely well, and is very small (less than an inch thick of a package... storage is a breeze)

I love that it is the cheapest cable in this category, as it is the best looking, smallest packaged, and easiest to work with.

    PROS: -Thin
-Great packaging (less than inch thick, 10x10?)

CONS: -Flat cable different to work with

    Cat5e cables
I am really impressed with these cables. They are flat which is definitely better than what's out in the retail market. Most cat5 cables are round. Makes for easier placement on floors or carpets for home and business use for tripping issues. Light weight and easy to move Ethernet connection from one room to the other. Really impressed with the price and quality.

Definitely worth while. Accidentally bought a different cable elsewhere(ended up lying to me and not being a cat 5e at all, it wasn't even a cat 5 lol) but decided to buy this b ad boy and see what was up. my net speed increased from a meager 3Mbps down and 0.7 up to a whopping 220+ Mbps.(yep two hundred twenty and up) down and about 25 up.

PROS: length and flatness of cable.

CONS: none so far, I probably couldv'e gotten more feet but eh its alright a t 50.

    Great Cable
I ordered this thinking it'd be the average gauge round cable. To my surprise it was a flat cable. That allowed to run it against baseboard and through the openings in doors without any hindrance to door function or cable integrity

    PROS: Long, Slim, Compact

CONS: Tap design is a little ineffiecient
