What is the conductor type and gauge?
A shopper
on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER:It meets or exceeds specifications for RG59 so it would be about 22 Gauge conductor. I am not sure if it is CCA or pure copper conductor type but I would assume at the price point it is CCA. That being said I have used these cables many times and they work great without an issue. Which Monoprice's Lifetime warranty on all cables how could you go wrong?

I feel bad giving this 3 stars. It's not the cable's fault or Monoprice's fault. It's mine for not believing what others said. A friend of mine recommended these cables and told me that for him they worked fine as HD-SDI cables. He's a professional and so I trusted him instead of what other people wrote here. The funny thing is that when I first got the cables and plugged them in, they seemed to work fine as HD-SDI cable. I even tested them in various applications. All worked fin in my office. I was excited to have found such a great deal on something that worked great. However, when I took them out on a job. The signal started having problems, blinking like crazy or just going out altogether. Had to do a lot of cleanup in post because of that. Good thing we weren't doing any IMAG of live streaming. Man, do I feel dumb.
PROS: Coils easily. Lays flat. Seems to be built well.
These cables are not rated for HD-SDI signal. Cannot use to connect with HD-SDI source. This should be mentioned in the description by Monoprice to avoid grief for all buyers.
I ended-up buying bulk Belden 1505A and 1694A cables to build HD-SDI cables. These would work perfectly even with 250 feet runs.
Bought 3 of these cables for use as a HD video cameras to connect to a video mixer. These cables will not transmit HD-SDI signal. I unfortunately did not read the reviews carefully before purchase a while back as I was under the impression it was another piece of tech I am using.
PROS: inexpensive cables
CONS: Not HD-SDI will not work with professional video cameras
I purchased this cable in various lengths to wire up video to each of the rooms in our post production facility. They do not, repeat, DO NOT, transmit HD video. I'm sure Mono price will let me return them, but the bummer is I paid an electrician to help me install them and of course none of them worked, So I had to use my nicer more expensive cables instead. I don't really understand why they're not working as I purchase HD SDI cables from Mono price before and they worked fine.
Bought a bunch of these for use in our HD video production rig. The description said, "professional video use". Monoprice should explain that these particular cables are NOT compatible with HD-SDI equipment. The cables simply did not work (100' and 50'). Monoprice took them back, but I still had to pay for the shipping.
PROS: Great build and durable feel, very good price
Bought these assuming that a cable is a cable but this are atrocious and only support SD with heavy artifacting. If you need an HD-SDI cable I would suggest
I purchased 2 of these to use with my Canon XF305 camera to whatever video switcher/capture device I was using during a shoot and these cables never worked. They work fine for composite video transmission or anything with a lower data rate. I tried with Blackmagic ATEM Switcher, Blackmagic Intesity Extreme, Intensity Extreem Pro, Roland V800HD.
PROS: Cable is very flexible, easy to wrap, good jacket, ends seem solid.
My apologies the cables didn't work for your particular application. I see that the RMA department has already begun the return process for you. If you have any future questions or concerns please let me know.
Thank you

Disappointed
I purchased 3 of these for SDI video transmission for an event. None of them ended up working. I checked it with other cables a few weeks later. it ended up that all of the monoprice cables were not working for our cameras, but the hacked together coax was working just fine.
PROS: As with everything I have so far purchased from Monoprice it arrived quickly and was made of really high quality materials. I order all my cables and adapters from Monprice.
