100ft Super VGA M/M CL2 Rated (For In-Wall Installation) Cable w/ Ferrites (Gold Plated)

Despite the introduction of DVI and HDMI®, the common VGA connection is still the primary connection for most computer monitors.

This double-shielded cable is designed to handle analog VGA and extended VGA resolutions. It features gold-plated male DE-15 (aka HD-15 or DB-15) connectors on each end for smooth, corrosion-free connections. It includes ferrite cores at each end, which ensure that EMI and RFI interference will not enter your video system.

This cable is CL2 rated, which indicates that it complies with fire safety and insurance standards, making it safe for use through or within the walls of residential class buildings.

HDMI, the HDMI Logo, and High-Definition Multimedia Interface are trademarks or registered trademarks of HDMI Licensing LLC in the United States and other countries.

Pros: Quality, size, durability, handling, price

    Cons: Connectors

This is our second purchase of these cables from Monoprice and they are exceptional. We are not using then in an in-wall application, but rather as part of a portable AV system that is setup and taken down each week. What sells us on these cables (besides their fair price) is the "weight" of the cables themselves. They handle nicely, lay flat, and work great. This purchase was to replace one cable that just failed after three years of use, and have another on hand when the second finally goes. Given that these cables are used and abused (a quick warning here: be especially aware of how much you knock around the connectors) I think three years of life is more than fair!

    Pros: Strong, long lasting, reliable

    Cons: Not indedstructable

I've used this cable for just shy of 4 years in my organization and am now in the process of buying a new one. It was uncoiled and recoiled ever week during that time. It's finally shorted out.

*Notice that this is designed for in-wall installation!!!*

My usage obviously was not in-wall, where it would be stationary the whole time. If your usage is in-wall, expect a VERY long lifetime out of this cable. 4 years of coiling, uncoiling, throwing, and other abuses is not bad, but of course we would all love our cables to last for decades.

    Pros: Gold Plated,
    Plenum Rated,
    Great insulation,

    Cons: Non-rebuildable ends.

I bought this cable to run a remote projector from a laptop. It works great, 100 feet is just what I needed.

The only gripe I have, and this is probably to be expected, is I used this cable in a temporary environment. It was setup, and removed once a week. It lasted me about 2 years the first time, but in those two years, there were many people wrapping it carelessly or incorrectly, people stepping on it, hitting it with chairs and couches, throwing it around, etc. It was abused. Eventually a conductor broke internally in the cable, and I had to trash it and buy a new one. The lack of rebuildable ends is only a minor annoyance, it would have been nice to take apart the ends and see if the break was at the end, but I highly doubt it was.

My use case is not typical for this cable. I expect that an actual in-wall or ceiling install would last much longer than the hardware it's connecting.
