    2x2 Matrix HDMI® Switch & Splitter

Switch, split, and amplify your HDMI® signal with this Monoprice Switch/Splitter!

This Matrix has two HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs, so you can switch between two input source devices and send the signal simultaneously to two displays. No setup or special configuration is required, simply connect the input device(s) and output device(s), then start using it!

The unit also has a built in, automatically adjusting amplifier. This means that you can use longer than normal HDMI cables running to the inputs. The built-in amplifier will then regenerate the HDMI signal before sending it to the outputs. This lets you extend your HDMI beyond the normal range (25 feet) for High Speed (1080p) signals.

The unit supports up to 1080p resolution, 12-bit per channel color depth, and high definition audio signals, such as DTS® Digital, Dolby® Digital, DTS-HD Master Audio™, and Dolby TrueHD™, as well as standard LPCM stereo.

Note that you don't have to have two inputs and two outputs to use this device. You can use just the switching function if you only have one display or just the splitter function if you have only one input.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI cables when connecting a device, such as this switch/splitter, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

Not a true 2x2 matrix switcher
I'm a professional AV installer and this is the first negative review I've left for a monoprice product. Most of there products meet or exceed expectations.

CONS: You can select either input 1 or 2 to output to 2 displays. If it was a matrix switcher you could for example send input 1 to output 2 and at the same time send input 2 to output 1. Also about 30% of the time it wont sense the TV which is run thru my receiver so I have to switch it off and back on to pick up the TV, which is inconvenient when there is no remote control.

    works well

    PROS: does what it should

CONS: when it's turned on my other 2 HDMI inputs cannot get a proper hand shake and output No audio. not a biggie for my application just strange.

    Splitting one signal
I am using this matrix to split my Directv signal to two tv's in my newly finished basement, and it works great. I am feeding a 65" Vizio Razor M and a 32" Vizio Razor M, the quality is great on both. The 32" is run though a 50' Redmere cable (9172) that I had the contractors run inside the wall/ceiling, and the 65" is going through a 15' Redmere cable (9169), the cable between Directv and the matrix is a Redmere 3' (10206). This setup is working great for me, note that I am just using it as a splitter, I read reviews on splitters and noted that in some cases you need to make sure that both TV's can output the same resolution, so I kept this in mind when selecting the Vizios

    PROS: Great Monoprice value

Does what it should - One nice "Hidden feature"
I didn't see this mentioned, but the switch defaults to input one if there's no signal on input 2. This makes operation simple - I have an always-on computer hooked to 1, and a DVD player hooked to 2. if I turn on the DVD player, it switches to 2, and when I turn the DVD player off, it automatically switches back to 1. i never actually use the switch.

PROS: Simple, works as it should.

    CONS: None

    only input ports selectable
    5/5

PROS: Works as described but not as hoped

CONS: Only the 2 input ports are manually selectable. Output is sent to any/all devices connected to the output ports. The output ports are not manually selectable.

I was hoping that the device would allow manual selection of which input would be sent to which output. This is not the case.

Replacement for VGA to Composite Video splitter
I run a computer Karaoke system and was tired of poor video on my monitors. I used to operate, like most KJ's, VGA off my computer into a composite video converter and splitter. The signal was 480P at best. Now I run HDMI from the computer and HDMI from the Karaoke player to both monitors through this splitter and the resulting video is great.

    PROS: Sturdy Cable
    No Signal Loss

    Splitter
We purchased this device after buying my husband a wireless DVD/Blueray player. We needed it to connect several components to our TV without wires showing. The price and quality was better than anything we could find in any of the big box stores.

PROS: Delivered very quickly. Easy to use. Reasonably priced. Does what it's supposed to do.

    CONS: No Cons.

I had intended to get the 1x2 splitter but it was sold out so i sprang the extra 10 bucks for this one and am VERY happy with it. There's a power switch and a select button on it- that's all. I say it's almost stupid proof because it has an auto detect feature that doesn't always detect as fast as a user can push the select button so sometimes it cycles past the intended I/O combination.

The LEDs are red which i was told make the device look "angry and menacing" by my wife...I really don't care but she is partial to the green LEDs on all our other devices...

    PROS: "Almost" stupid proof
    Sturdy metal enclosure
    Small!

    CONS: nothing bad so far

    Works like a champ
Splits signals to other TV perfectly. However one of the red LEDs flashes indicating a possible issue but instructions do not mention a flashing LED as an issue or normal.

    PROS: price
    quality

    CONS: instructions

    Useful problem-solver
Great little HDMI switch and splitter in one unit. While listed as a 2x2, it's actually a 2x1x2 that is, the signal you select is sent to both outputs. The sending device gets its EDID info from the device on Output 1. It has lights for the presence of inputs and the selected signal. We use it in live events to have a local monitor for a source and send it to a projector as well. If the local monitor is from Output 1, there is no disruption to the source computer if Output 2 gets disconnected.

PROS: HDMI switch and splitter in one unit. Nice metal cabinet

CONS: The manual is too simple.
