4x1 HDMI Switch with CEC Engine (Full 1080p HD) with 3D Support

It seems like everything uses HDMI® these days, from home theater equipment to your Android phone. With so many HDMI devices in use, most televisions quickly run out of available HDMI input ports. You don't want the hassle of plugging and unplugging cables whenever you want to watch or play something different and you don't want the expense of new TV. Just get this 4x1 Enhanced HDMI Switch from Monoprice!

If you're looking for a switch that will allow you to take advantage of the advanced HDMI features your equipment has to offer, then this is the switch for you. This switch features a CEC (consumer electronics control) engine that allows the switch to communicate with your devices, automatically power your TV on when a source device is powered up, and will even switch your TV to the correct input for the connected device. This switch also supports advanced HDMI features, such as full High Speed (1080p) resolution, 3D video, and Deep Color (up to 36-bit). Additionally, it provides full support for advanced digital audio formats, including DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby TrueHD™.

The four input and one output HDMI ports on the back of the unit are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. It is powered by an included 5 VDC, 2A AC adapter. The remote control allows direct selection of each input by pressing the appropriate numbered button.

Note: Certain devices may not be compatible with the CEC engine and certain functions may not work with your specific equipment. Manufacturers have developed different variations of the CEC protocol (Samsung ANYNET+, Sony Bravia Sync, Sharp Aquos Link, etc.), and equipment from different manufacturers may not be fully compatible with each other.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances.

will this work with a Xbox one and Xbox 360? Also what about apple tv or a firestick?
    Dan F on May 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it works with Xbox One and Xbox 360. I have not used it with Apple TV or Firestick, though I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't work.
can you purchase a replacement remote?
    A shopper on Dec 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don’t see the included remote for sale, but a universal remote should be able to take on the codes. We use a Logitech Harmony remote and this switch functions perfectly with it!
Would this support a 1920x1200 monitor connected to computer?
    Steve B on Jul 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. This unit will support HD Television resolutions. So it will be locked to certain resolutions. Such as 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
If I use this with a TV that doesn't support HDMI-CEC, will the switch change between its 4 inputs automatically using its own CEC engine or does the CEC engine in the switch require the TV to have HDMI-CEC as well?

Can't get this to work with my Xbox One S and LG OLED 4k TV. PS4 works fine, but no signal coming from Xbox. Anyone else having this issue?

I wish it worked for me
I ordered this unit because my 2+ year old Panasonic Viera has only one HDMI port. However, the TV does not support CEC. The following describes what happens both using CEC mode and not using the CEC mode on the Monoprice switch

When both the Dish PVR (vip722 - stand by mode) and the TV are turned off, the Monoprice switch - remaining on - loses the connection, although the port setting does not change. I have to use the switch's remote to cycle the input ports to get it to "wake up" and pass the signal.

The chatline-tech was only able to suggest I replace the cable (2 meter/6 ft) switch to the TV because the signal strength might be low. This did not help. The PVR-to-switch cable is only about 45 cm (1.5 ft)

May work for you, not for me.

This thing is great for the price. I was debating between getting this one and getting one that had more ports on it, but was unsure if I was going to need more. Well, after using it for a bit and getting a new computer, I've already outgrown the four ports. That's my mistake in not planning ahead and not that of the manufacturer. I have had zero problems with this. The picture comes through just as clear as if it was plugged right in to the back of the television and it's small enough that it didn't take a lot of time to figure out where it was going to live in my set up. Setting it up was a breeze.

The only thing that I would say is a detriment to the product is more of a nit picky thing. The button that controls the switching between ports and the power button are the same thing. I think that I would have preferred there to be two buttons, one for each function, as it took a few times getting used to using as I had misplaced my remote. Like I said, a nit picky thing, and definitely not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination.

PROS: Expandability of HDMI ports on TV, small footprint, matches the rest of my entertainment center.

CONS: Four ports, a little weird to switch between ports without the remote.

PROS: Works right out of the box, just as advertised.

CONS: No auto switching? I honestly have to play with it a bit more (just hooked it up last night). But it would be nice if it could "auto select" devices based on priority and what is powered on. Either way, once I get my Harmony remote programmed, this will no longer be an issue.

    Just works
Attaches to my Onkyo system and supports my Apple TV, PS3, Samsung HDMI TV, and Comcast digital cable appliance. I use my Logitech Harmony Remote to control them all. Flawless.

PROS: Provides extended HDMI connectivity without loss of signal strength or clarity. Supports full 1080p. Easy to install and configure.

    CONS: None

    Great switch, works as advertised
I ordered this switch mainly because of the CEC function. I have a wall mounted LCD (Samsung LN52A650) and only one HDMI cable running thru the wall. Due to the length of the run (50 feet) I did not want to buy another HDMI cable. Because the components were located across the room in a cabinet I needed the CEC function for my Samsung Blu-ray player. It works like a charm and I noticed no loss in picture quality.

    Good switcher but times out
I recently bought this switcher and it works great EXCEPT for the fact that it times out if you leave it for a while. I just turn it off when I turn off my TV but it is an extra thing to remember

I got this a while back but ended up not using it. Last week I decided to move my xbox to the bedroom and needed an extra HDMI port so it finally got unboxed and installed. My first disappointment was the remote didnt work. After squeezing the remote in the area where the batteries are located it worked 1 out of 10 times I pushed the button. Next thing I noticed is it would lose connection evrytime I would change input on the TV. So now I have to get up manually switch the inputs until the signal comes back. Monoprice stuff is usually great this is the worst product I've ever bought here. Extremely disappointed. Id give it 0 stars if possible

    PROS: small

    CONS: Remote doesnt work
loses signal as soon as you switch TV inputs
    doesnt work

    Works with small issues

PROS: low price, works with Harmony remote, does what it's supposed to

CONS: Seems to glitch evry so often. I'm running a Motorola HD DCT and a Samsung bluRay player. they both glitch every 3 or 4 minutes.
I know this issue is probably because I have the output to the TV running thru the Monoprice passive wallplate HDMI extenders. they work fine when I bypass the switch, but not great when it's connected. I know this going into them as Monoprice strongly suggests running 24 guage or lower HDMI cables.

Works as advertised. Have cable receiver, Xbox, and Blu-ray player hooked up and works flawlessly.

    What's not to like?
Picture quality is as good as a direct connection. Switches perfectly with remote or front panel controls. Great price.
One small annoyance is that if an input is selected and a source is then plugged into that input, you must switch away from the input and then back to activate it.
