    Blackbird 4X1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch w/ Built-In Equalizer & Remote (REV.3.0)

It seems like everything uses HDMI® these days, from home theater equipment to your Android phone. With so many HDMI devices in use, most televisions quickly run out of available HDMI input ports. You don't want the hassle of plugging and unplugging cables whenever you want to watch or play something different and you don't want the expense of new TV. Just get this 4x1 Enhanced HDMI Switch from Monoprice!

This switch features a built-in HDMI signal equalizer, which helps compensate for weak signals. It has four input and one output ports on the back of the switch, each of which is gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The switch is powered by an included 5 VDC, 1A AC adapter. The included remote control allows you to cycle through the four inputs or access them directly using the numbered buttons.

    Features:

    • Supports 3D video
    • HDCP compliant
    • Supports HDMI resolutions up to 1080p@60Hz

    Many issues
Not satisfied with this product. Very inconstant results. It seems built well and will work but randomly drops hdmi signal when other switches ive used have been fine. one time I got a high pitch squeal from audio. some time it will not pick up devices.

I think i will stick with passive items from monoprice.

    PROS: remote switching

    CONS: Not stable. Inconstant results.

Works with some possible adjustments to device output settings
Recently moved to a newer house that has the tv wall mounted above the fireplace mantle - there is only 1 hdmi ran through the wall to the tv. Rather than try to fish another hdmi through the wall I decided to give this a try.
I've tried 3 devices so far.
DirecTV Genie and Mediacom Tivo boxes worked immediately, no issue
Samsung Blu-Ray player did not work initially. If connected directly to the hdmi to the tv it was fine. I went through the Blu-Ray player picture options and turned off the Deep Color option - this fixed the issue.

PROS: Very low cost option to add more hdmi ports to a tv, or to avoid running additional cables through your walls.

CONS: Can be picky on input signal. If you are having issues try seeing if your device has a Deep Color option that can be turned off.

Apple tv and amazon fire tv won't work
Have connected a cable box, Sony Blu-ray player, apple TV and amazon fire box..... both apple TV and amazon fire stick don't work. They flicker and display the image only for short duration. I have gone through the different suggestions posted here used 1.5 feet 24 AWG cables to connect but still does not work. The cable box and the Blu-ray player work perfectly fine.

PROS: Price, compact, compatible with harmony remotes

CONS: Does not work with apple TV or amazon fire tv

Doesnt work with Roku or Apple TV
I read all the reviews and then bought the appropriate 24 gauge hdmi cables to go with this. As others have said, doesnt work with Roku3 or Apple TV2. This should be made VERY clear in the product description, it would save a lot of hassle and returns.
I'll be requesting an RMA for this and the not needed 24 AWG cables.

    PROS: Small, compact

CONS: Doesnt work for the intended use

Great Device, Stay away from Ferrite Cores
I used this switch to get some additional devices, including an AppleTV2, to my input limited Sony HDTV. I used a 1.5 foot Monoprice ferrite core HDMI cable to connect the AppleTV2 to the switch. The AppleTV2 was twitchy (often had to cycle it on an off several times to get the video signal to lock, and even then, it was sometimes garbled on the menu screen), while all the other devices worked fine. Read somewhere recently that ferrite cores can interfere with certain switches and are not recommended for such applications. I changed out the ferrite core, and sure enough, all problems solved. Relaying this only since it may help somebody else avoid the problem. This little HDMI switch works great though, buy it if you need more input options.

PROS: Works great, at a great price

CONS: None, but probably best to cable without ferrite cores.

Now you see. Now you don't.
I was happy with this switch until I received an Apple TV for Christmas. When I connected it through this hdmi switcher, I could not get a signal when the port was selected. I switched cables around with the other devices that worked through the switch without success. I also tried changing the ports used. Still no success. Apple TV works when using the same hdmi cables directly to the TV. My only conclusion is that the signal coming from the Apple TV is not compatible with the switch.

    PROS: Price

    CONS: Incompatibility with Apple TV.

    Great unit!
I've had a couple of these splitters because our 1080p TV just had ONE HDMI port. What the heck were they (Westinghouse) thinking?

This thing is great! Not only does it have both the remote AND the push button switch on the front of the unit, you can also turn the thing off! Our other ones would stay on all the time unless you unplugged it from the back.

I'm yet to have a problem with it, it's performed perfectly.

I have an XBOX, PS3 and DirecTV box connected to it.

    works perfectly for HDMI switching
I am using this to switch between my PS3 and Macbook Pro as my Onkyo only has 2 HDMI in...it works perfectly and integrated without a hiccup thanks to the device also being listed in Logitech's Harmony software.

Can't go wrong if you're looking for an affordable HDMI switching option.

    PROS: great price
    listed in Logitech Harmony database
    color matches my receiver

    PROS: none

CONS: Unit powers on but the signal is just green lines now and then on the screen...

Great HDMI Switch for a low price
This was exactly what I was looking for.

My lcd tv only has 2 hdmi ports and I have 5 items that need a hdmi input.

Cable box - Directly to tv HDMI1
Mac Mini - Connected through Switch
Blu ray player - connected through switch
    xbox 360 -connected through switch
    ps3 - connected through switch

It works really well and the box is smart enough to only switch to the ports that have something turned on. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and have had zero complaints.
