Looking at this adapter compared to Part 6854 and Part 2083 the build specs are 99% the same. The cords are the same, the module in the middle of the cords looks the same, and the keyboard and mouse plugs are the same. There is a difference in the USB connectors (very slight molding changes) but overall these all three look identical. The difference lies within the performance of the adapter itself. This adapter worked on all OSX installations I tried it on (Leopard 10.5, Snow Leopard 10.6, and Lion 10.7). I tested these with the Server versions but the client installers should perform the same. There is one other Monoprice adapter which I tried (Part 173) that performed the same but had a larger converter module in the middle of the cable and was $1 more per adapter. For one machine its not a big deal, for many servers that adds up quick. Overall out of all 4 Monoprice adapters I bought this was the one I will be buying a lot more of and wanted to save you some time if you are scratching your head on which adapter to buy, spend the $3.60 and buy this adapter.

PROS: Works well in OSX Server 10.5 / 10.6 / 10.7. Works well in CentOS 5.6.

CONS: None, its the best USB to PS2 adapter sold by Monoprice.

I love the feel of the old genuine IBM keyboards from 10+ years ago. Problem is they only have a PS2 connector. So I bought this adapter and it works perfectly on all keys and modes (num lock, caps lock, etc.). I have not tried using the PS2 mouse port, since I have a USB mouse.

Windows 7 64-bit on a Lenovo T510 is now working with an old IBM Model M from 1984. Another adapter, 2083 or BT-1000 didn't work at all.

Good product in a pinch or for a server kiosk that will NOT have to handle repeated keystrokes. I think this is more an issue with the CHIPSET used, and not the product itself, which is decently built, and in NO way the same as some cheap $2 eBay hunk of fail.

PROS: Works with any keyboard, including a Model M

CONS: Does NOT support held-down keys, does not like to handle repeat functions.. I.E: if you game with it, and you're holding W, it will "drop" the keystroke after a certain amount of time.

Many of the new PCs I build are finally doing away with PS/2 ports rendering my 2x 8-port KVMs useless. When looking at DVI/USB KVMs, they are rather pricey and would also need new cables. The USB PS/2 adapter has worked without issue with my existing KVMs giving them a nice renewed lease on usability. I am using Windows 7.

These adapters work well with PS/2 keyboard & mouse connected DIRECTLY to the PC. DO NOT PURCHASE THESE IF YOU INTEND TO USE THEM WITH A KVM SWITCH!! For whatever reason, these will not pass a signal through the KVM.

CONS: These adapters won't work with a KVM switch, which unfortunately was my intention and reason for purchasing.

I gave it a 5 out 10 because half the functionality works. However, I am using the adapter in an unusual setup. I am trying to pass the mouse and keyboard from an older KVM with PS/2 peripherals through this adapter to a Windows XP pc with no PS/2 ports. The keyboard works fine through the adapter connected by itself but once I connect the mouse, both keyboard and mouse stop functioning. I am still using it for just the keyboard and connecting a USB mouse directly to the second pc.

Only needed this for use with a keyboard. Mostly works when performing normal desktop tasks, but fails to function when using multiple keys simultaneously. Did some searching and found that this is a common issue for passive keyboard adapters. Ordered an active adapter and the problems were gone.

PROS: Might be all you need (assuming your needs are light)

CONS: Doesn't handle multiple concurrent key-presses correctly

I purchased two of these adapters in April 2012, and just dropped in to see if they're still available. I note you could not get yours to work with a KVM switch, and just wanted to say that mine have been working fine with my KVM switch since I got them. I regret your configuration didn't work, but wanted to let others know that it might work for them. In my opinion, for such a low cost item, if you need one it's worth the chance!

Looked all over for one of these locally. Best Buy, Radio Shack, Office Max. Best price I could find was $15, but most were over 20. I was thrilled to find it here for a fraction of that, shipping included. Thank you!

This USB to PS/2 converter was a life saver for me. I was able to easily use my older keyboards and mice with this device, saving me the cost of a new set. The installation was simple. All I had to to was plug it in and it worked for perfectly me. My PS/2 mice and keyboards had plug and play compatibility when used with this device. I used this in conjunction with a KVM (Product ID: 219) with no issues. As of now, I have had the product for about a month and have had no issues. It is used in a technical productions booth, with heavy usage.

Monoprice USB to Dual PS/2 Adapter 2274: Prior to this I couldn't find a PS/2 to USB adapter that would work with the ton of PS/2 keyboards and PS/2 mouses that we have at work. Most of our newer Windows computer systems are USB only so I needed to find a workable adapter. A also still use some IOGear 2-channel PS/2 based KVM switches and this adapter worked where other cheaper ones did not. My search is over. It also works as a single PS/2 to USB adapter. I can highly recommend this specific adapter.

What can be said about a USB to PS/2 adapter. It works as advertised. More to the point monoprice is a great site so the price was just right.

Worked like a charm! And for the price, I was pleased to find that the mouse I used this adapter for worked fine. The only problem is that I couldn't get the machine to boot up (for a different reason) so I wasn't able to test all the functionality of the mouse. For this reason, I can only attest to the fact that the mouse powered up and seemed to register just fine. I love the monoprice equipment being offered for such reasonable prices.

I only ordered this item because I needed it at that time and price is cheap. My laptop keyboard broke and I tried to use my desktop keyboard with serial port which I do not have in my laptop. If I ever needed it again at least I already have one without waiting.

I used this to connect a Labtec wireless keyboard and mouse to a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. Works perfectly out of the box with Windows XP Pro. No driver installation necessary. Just plugged it in and it works.

This PS2 to USB adapter is another great product from Monoprice at an amazing cheap price. I hated the keyboard that came with my new Dell computer, so I wanted to keep using the keyboard from my previous Dell computer. But the old keyboard had an old PS2 connector, and the new computer only had USB connectors. So I found this adapter on Monoprice, and I simply plugged it in, and it worked instantly. There are 3 or 4 similar adapters available from Monoprice, and the helpful Monoprice "Live Help" chat tech helped me figure out that this one, the cheapest one, would do the job just fine.

I f the products works and last a reasonable time, it would be a good buy. In my case 2 of them won't last more than 10 months. It is waste of money and time.

CONS: I bought 2 of them for my laptop keyboard due to spilled water from my kids. The first one worked for about 4 months and then died. The second one worked for about the same amount of time then dead. I have to ditch those adapter and spend 16 dollars for a laptop keyboard.

This adapter can feed the power-hungry Model M, and I did not notice any issues with held-down keys. Did not test for _KRO, as I do not have a PS/2 keyboard with NKRO.

I am using it to connect my logitech mouseman marble to an ibm thinkcentre desktop computer. It works good. I also bought a second converter that was a little bit cheaper and it also worked. After I bought these I noticed there was a straight through connector for logitech mice specifically, but I did not try that one.

Bought this Item Couple of months ago and still working perfectly Fine On my computer I would recommend this Item to Anyone

I had purchased a new computer and I had a legacy 1984 IBM keyboard which I will always use as the keys give you tactile feel as well as audible feedback when depressed. Unfortunately, this keyboard is so old that it adheres to the PS/2 standard. I no longer have a PS/2 mouse but since I needed to get the keyboard to work with my new PC I purchase this device.



When it came I immediately plugged it in, booted the PC and voila ... it worked!



I've used it on the PC now for about a month and have not had any issues with it.



If you have this need for an old IBM computer to work with your new PC I highly recommend this solution to you as it is inexpensive and allows you to use your old IBM keyboard.

I love these things so much. I've purchased several of them. I hand them out to clients with laptops who say they can't use their home keyboard and/or mouse with their laptop.
Requires no installation, any OS will pick it up automatically.
I've even used this with a PS/2 KVM switch and it works perfectly.

PROS: I had a couple of old hand held POS barcode scanners. I needed one for a new sales job on the road, and needed it to work via my laptop. This adapter worked GREAT! My scanner had two male PS/2 connections. The adapter had 1 male and 1 female to a single USB male. Luckily all I needed was the one connection. Instantly recognized by the laptop. WooHoo! Didn't have to buy a new scanner.

We had a lot of issues initially when using this adapter. After trying many different options we determined that the USB plug doesn't make full contact on our Dell Optiplex USB 3.0 ports. When we switched to the USB2 ports it worked fine, also with a USB extender, just not in the USB3 directly. Otherwise it allowed the use of our legacy card swipe keyboards, no muss no fuss.

PROS: PS/2 driver have always been wonky on my motherboard so I've never been able to use PS/2 devices. Used this to get an old cherry keyboard with a touchpad to work.



It does what it needs to. The packaging says USBto PS/2 but don't worry, it is in fact PS/2 to USB.

Worked great with my 14 year old Dell desktop. Just wish the Dell had more USB ports! Monoprice really has inexpensive computer and electronic cables that fit the bill, work wonderfully and don't break the bank.

PROS: Worked fine with Windows 8 when plugged directly into the desktop's USB port (using an old IBM clicky keyboard).

CONS: Was flaky when plugged into an unpowered USB hub. I did not try a powered USB hub. Very strange because most keys worked but some gave strange results.

This works as advertised. It allowed me the replace the really crappy keyboard on my new Dell with an older Dell keyboard that was decent.

I had earlier tried the $.99 straight-through variety, and it didn't work for me. So, spend a little more on this one if you want success.
