Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - Clean
As a guitarist, you know you need to practice regularly to hone your skills and learn new songs. However, you can't always break out the amps and crank up the volume. For those times when quiet is required, you can both practice and hear the amplified output from your instrument using this Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar from Monoprice!
As the perfect solution to practice your musicianship, this amplifier provides clean, undistorted amplification to the output of instrument level devices, such as electric guitars and bass guitars. It features a 1/4" TS plug, which plugs directly into your instrument's output. It is powered by two AAA batteries (not included) and has a 3.5mm TRS output for listening with headphones.
An additional 3.5mm TRS auxilliary input is provided for connecting another audio source, such as an mp3 player. The audio from the Aux jack is mixed with the audio from the guitar so you can play along to your favorite songs.
This amplifier is designed to produce a "Clean" sound, which is ideal for learning a new song and hearing the raw tonal differences between the different pickups, uncolored by overdrive or other effects. The amplifier includes analog Gain, Tone, and Volume controls.
Questions and Answers
PROS: I am happy with the battery life and volume of this little practice tool. I am able to hear the difference between the pickup configurations and tone settings on my bass, and that is all I hoped for!
CONS: Put a strap clip on this and a couple feet of cable and you could better keep this little amp out of harm's way. Sound adjustments have to be done blind if your guitar's jack socket is on the bottom instead of the face of the instrument. The aux in jack does not seem to be stereoI cannot therefore hear aux input through both earphone jacks (nor is it loud enough to be practical).
PROS: This device is my sole practice tool. The sound quality is perfect, it doesn't disturb anybody, and with the aux input, I can plug it right into my smartphone if I need to play along to a song or click track. Any pro musician should have this. It replaced my Pandora and it cost one tenth of the price.
PROS: Cheap, clever way to play guitar through headphones without having to use a large amp
CONS: None yet, product is awesome!
Has a "drive" knob that wasn't advertised so you can get some overdrive distortion if you want it. I don't and don't use it. It was hard to find an amp like this that just delivered a clean sound so I'm happy to find it.
PROS: Works fine, as advertised
No problem with pots / controls, or hiss. I've used on several basses as well as a Strat.
'Clean' sound is true. A prior reviewer suggested a short cable and a clip to keep it out of harm's way a good idea! or be VERY careful, after all,it's plastic and inexpensive. That being said, I've shared it with my bandmates. They liked it as well. Happiness! Now I can practice at whatever time.
PROS: Nice unit, works well on basses as too! mp3 audio plugin a nice plus.
Under 15 bucks- great
CONS: All things made of plastic will eventually break. Without abuse this should last a long time.
PROS: "Clean" sound version is the best of the three. Works very well.
CONS: The 1/4" jack is not stable stuck in the guitar body and can easily be broken off BUT by adding a female to male 1/4" ext cord you can solve that issue. Once you've done that it's PERFECT!
sounds good with both bass and guitar
PROS: Works as advertised. Nice clean sound. Great for practicing. I will buy another one with a different sound.
PROS: Works as advertised. Decent headphone sound from my acoustic/electric.
PROS: The headphone amp worked fine. It's as good as any I've played.
CONS: A touch on the flimsy side. However with proper care it will work out great.
