What version of Bluetooth is supported?
    David F on Nov 17, 2017
I'm planning to use this only to connect my AppleTV to my stereo. One question that will be a deal breaker - will i need to pair it every time I use the AppleTV if it's the only thing I'm using?
    Stephen L on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They will automatically pair and stay connected. I use mine to stream from an iPod Touch dedicated for use with my sound system. Also, if your stereo supports it, I recommend a Toslink (optical) cable to connect this device to your stereo.

BEST ANSWER: Stays onEnter an answer to this question.
Is it possible to connect to my PC? I'm using a standard bluetooth transmitter and I can connect from my PC to other bluetooth speakers just fine. I can connect to a generic "music receiver," but it does not appear to function as an audio device when hooked up to my stereo.
    A shopper on Jul 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Your PC would have to have a optical toslink or 3.5mm/RCA input. Most PC's will not have an audio input. Typically it would require an upgraded sound card that offers that support. I hope this helps.
    Does this accept 220 volts?

BEST ANSWER: No. Althought, I am certain you could find the correct transformer for this off the shelf or via the internet.
Can I hook this receiver directly to the 5" Studio Monitors to play music from my smartphone?

    Solid aptX Bluetooth transmission
This device is small and light. The unit has it's own power supply. I paired my Samsung S4 via NFC in less that 10 seconds. This device uses aptX technology which allows the audio quality to be transmitted in CD quality. During pauses, with my volume turned up pretty high there was no humming or static. I paired an Ipad and an Iphone and the connections all remained intact. Not having to keep pairing is an awesome feature. This is a great addition to a high end home theater. Keeping in line with Monoprice's great prices, I think a $29 price point would be perfect for this device.

PROS: Small, Easy to pair, Pair up to 8 devices. Absolute best Bluetooth audio transmission due to aptX technology.

CONS: Probably about $20 more than it should be.

    Great Experience
Great product. Sound quality is very good for a BT device. The RCA output level is a bit lower than other devices that I have connected to my receiver. Although it's possible that my receiver has an issue with the particular input that I'm using. I haven't tested that. I'm going to hook it up using an optical cable and see if that makes a difference. Don't let this deter you from purchasing this product. It has plenty of signal strength, just not as much as other devices I'm using.

In my set up, I can't get 33 feet away from it with a clear line of sight to actually test at that distance. I can get 25 feet away from it, and it works fine at that distance. If there are obstructions between transmitter and receiver (Walls, Countertops, etc...), the signal can degrade quickly, but that's to be expected with Bluetooth RF.

Overall, I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

    PROS: Small size

    Multiple output options

    Easy set up

CONS: Nominal distance between iPhone and this device seems to vary.

PID 10248 + PID 605500 = Awesome Bluetooth speaker system
I bought this thing together with Monoprice 5-inch Powered Studio Monitor Speakers PID 605500 and I must say, these 2 items together make an awesome Bluetooth speaker system.....probably the best Bluetooth speaker system that I have ever owned.

I have paired this thing using Bluetooth with 3 of my Android devices - they are Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10-inch and also with my HTC Sensation 4G smartphone. All 3 devices can pair perfectly and can stream music to this receiver without any problems. Although only one device can stream music to the receiver at a time. The Samsung Galaxy S3 sounds the best because it has an equalizer that you can tinker with.

The sound quality is just as good as connecting the speakers directly to my smartphone. I did a sound test, whether my speakers were connected to receiver via Bluetooth or through a direct connection, I can't even hear the difference....which is simply awesome.

Like one reviewer said....pair this thing up with your smartphone and it's like having a jukebox at your fingertips.

PROS: - works great with all 3 of my Android devices
    - has both optical and 1/8" audio outputs
    - compact design
    - sound quality is just as good as a direct connection
    - makes an awesome Bluetooth speaker system when hooked up to Monoprice speakers PID 605500

CONS: NO auto pairing. For example, if you pair this thing with your smartphone and then take your smartphone outside, and then come back in an hour or so, this thing will not auto pair with your smartphone after you come back.

You have to manually pair it up again. It's a bit of a downer but I can still live with it.

Almost perfect High sound quality bluetooth
this is my 3rd, and final!, bluetooth receiver. i use it for a clean setup in my kitchen, so i can use my phone as a sound source. my first receiver was a belkin and the sound quality was poor. i upgraded to a logitech, which had much higher sound quality. i then discovered a lot of small, inexpensive and high performing DACs on the market and began to look for a bluetooth receiver with a digital out. i discovered this lovely receiver, which also happens to have support for APT-X codecs, which, i learned, allow cd quality sound to be streamed over bluetooth (pointless with mp3s, but it's nice to know that the limit to fidelity resides in my sound files rather than my system). until some magical new technology comes along, i'll be using this monoprice receiver for a while.

PROS: -amazing sound quality, especially if your broadcasting device supports the APT-X codec for bluetooth.
-digital out allows the use of a separate DAC, for even better sound quality.
    -clean, simple design

CONS: -when the unit is receiving, but there is no sound, it goes to sleep. when it auto-wakes at the start of a sound source, it can make an unpleasant crackling noise as it comes to life.

Do one thing, and do it well.
If you have a smartphone that supports the APT-X audio codec and carry music on your phone/tablet, then you need this receiver. Listen to your music at near CD quality through your entertainment center over Bluetooth. It's like having a jukebox at your fingertips.

This receiver is straightforward and does its job well. I haven't had any issues, and it sounds great. Do yourself a favor and get this for your living room. You'll be glad you did.

PROS: * Easy pairing with NFC for Jellybean (and straightforward bluetooth pairing otherwise)
    * APT-X audio sounds great considering this is the only way audiophiles should listen to Bluetooth audio
    * Simplicity: plug it in, power it up, pair it, listen.

CONS: Hardly a con, but this device is very light the cables connected to it are heavier than the device itself, so it can be difficult to get it to sit nicely on your entertainment center.

    Bought 2
    see pros & cons

PROS: 1 is working great at my home. Great sound quality, Good range, about 30-35ft, and easy BluTooth connection. I have a very large living dinning area. I have it on top of my system cabinet.

CONS: 2 was installed at relatives home. Range was poor, but improved some after moving it up & out from the low shelf . I plan to get a longer connector to move it even higher and away from systems to see if I can improve the range. It was no comparison to my 1 range .

    Great little device
For $50 i'm very happy with the capability that this has added to my vsx-1021k receiver. I am sure it is far less expensive that the pioneer proprietary Bluetooth add-on that probably doesn't support aptX (all Bluetooth audio devices I buy from now on will be aptX compatible)

    PROS: -Simple to use
-Puts audio out of optical and 1/8" simultaneously (with the audio perfectly in sync too), which is great for receivers with two zones that don't share digital inputs well, or if you have two separate amps
-I've use this with an Evo 4g LTE and the audio quality with the aptX algorithm is phenomenal for Bluetooth audio.
    -Nice and small
-If you have non-techie family with NFC enabled phones this is the perfect device for you

CONS: These really aren't cons, just more of a wish list
-Wish it used micro-usb for power, would make a great car accessory for those with automobiles with an aux jack.
-Range is okay but not great (I think it's more of a result of the Bluetooth standard), i'd say 20' with line of site, 10-15' with typical home obstructions.
-I think it's priced fair, but lower is always better...

    Good Bluetooth Receiver
Good little Bluetooth receiver. Audio quality is good - you will never get as good a quality as you will with hard wired components, but this is the nature of Bluetooth. None the less, audio quality is still very good.

I use this for audio only in my workshop, connected to my iPhone. iPhone sits 20 to 25 ft from unit. I have never had any dropouts or hesitations. Unit has worked flawlessly for almost a month now. The only drawback ( which is very minor) is that if you power the unit off, it does not automatically recognize your device next time you power it back up. You have to manually connect to Bluetooth receiver through Bluetooth settings on your device. But this really isn't an issue, and I am extremely satisfied with this unit in general.

PROS: No dropouts with iPhone. Decent audio quality Easy to install and set up

CONS: Have to manually reconnect after powering down- does not automatically recognize your device.

Great way to upgrade a non-Bluetooth enabled receiver
Just plug it into an A/V jack on your receiver, turn on your phone's Bluetooth, and connect to "Receiver". I was able to stream Pandora from my droid to my Onkyo within 30 seconds of taking this out of the box.

PROS: Great bang for your buck, simple to set up

    Good for streaming audio

This fits my need to play streaming music. It is the best value for quality I could find. I would suggest that a future version should allow a LED dimmer, remote part in and auto connect. Maybe a coax option will improve sound

PROS: + nfc makes for easy connection

+ apt-x is better quality and on par for streaming audio

+ optical spdif out for using an external dac

    + small and attractive

CONS: + bluetooth doesn't pair automatically to devices it recognises when it is powered on (I downloaded an android app to do this for me)

+ I notice a level of softness in the output (some of the punch and clarity is removed)

+ light is very bright and flashes

+ connection is sometimes flakey without walls from 5 metres away
