    Great for Playstation 2!
My TV has a resolution of 1440x900, and the upscaler frankly sucks for less than 480p quality. On my TV, 480i games look awful, pixelated, and with a strange gritty grid pattern over the image. With this device, I simply got a VGA cable, plugged it into this device and to the TV, plugged in the component cables for the PS2, and set the resolution to 1440x900 and shazam! It looks great! At least, games with good graphics do. Driv3r has bad graphics so it does not really improve much, but games like Crash Nitro Kart, Transformers (not the one based on the movie!), which are 480i look great. 480p games are marginally approved.

It can even play Playstation 1 games! Anyone with a PS2 using component cables knows that you can't play your PS2 library through the cables. The Component to VGA converter allows PS1 games to be played through component just fine. Note that I set the motion detecting to maximum, since I read somewhere that you have to do that on the similar HD Box Pro to get them to work. (For those who don't know, PS1 over component has a strange effect where the image is rolling up, I suspect the motion detecting holds the picture still)

Be sure to use the auto adjust feature on your TV/monitor, it makes the picture fit better!

Best of all, I have noticed no lag or glitches in the picture with this device. If you are unsatisfied with how your Playstation 2 games look, would like to play Playstat

PROS: Is far better than the upscaler built into my TV.

It allows you to play your playstation one games through component cables! (At least, with motion detecting set at the maximum)

    No noticeable lag.

CONS: The up and down buttons appear to function backwards. Up is down, and down is up. It's not really a problem though.

I'm using this to run output from componet devices to a ceiling mounted projector via vga cable.

Works great with all the dvd players, xbox, wii and other component devices I used it with. Plug and play, no setup needed.

    PROS: Good picture
    Easy to use

Works with the Wii to LCD Monitor!
If you're looking to connect a Nintendo Wii to a PC LCD Monitor, then a video converter is your best option. I initially tried doing this with a $5 component-to-VGA adapter, and while I did get a picture, the screen was completely green. My next option was a video converter, some can go for $100, but I was lucky to find Monoprices' product with good value.

Picture looks great! I have the Wii set at 480p, I left the screen at 4:3 though to not warp the picture.

    PROS: - Easy to use/setup

CONS: - No Power button, have to unplug AC adapter manually

VGA Monitor to TV Cable box
The product did exactly as advertised. I wanted to use an old flat screen monitor as a TV in a work area. After numerous attempts at splicing RCA cables to VGA I soon realized that VGA monitors and TV cable box's do not speak the same language, I needed this Needed converter box to take me from component (YpbPr) TV to VGA monitor. The product was easy to use connect RCA cables from cable TV box and connect VGA monitor cable. I recommend this product and the price was right..

PROS: The product did work exactly as advertised. The product was easy to use connect RCA cables from cable TV box and connect VGA monitor cable. There are a few function switches to use again very easy, Also this gave me 1080i High Definition.

CONS: The converter box has no on/off switch. The box does get hot but not so hot that you worry about it I'm not sure if that is by design that it stays on all the time or a missed design. I worry about it burning out early anytime anything gets hot it has potential to burn out early.. So I fixed that by connecting it to a power strip with a switch so I could turn it and the other outlets associated with the monitor out when I'm done.

Attaching a Wii to a VGA Monitor
This great little device allowed me to connect a Nintendo Wii to a VGA monitor using a component video cable. We choose not to have a regular television in our house, and this device allowed us to maintain that choice when we decided on getting a Wii for our two young boys. Video play through Netflix on the Wii looks very good. The audio output sends nice sound out through the small computer speakers we use.

    PROS: • Easy to Use
    • Compact
    • Nice Setting and Controls
    • Nice Display/Output Quality

CONS: None that really come to mind. Perhaps an option to use a remote control to turn it on/off.

    Good Stuff
As I said, it just works - plain and simple. I can use my LCD monitor to watch whatever I feed through my component cables, DVD, BluRay, my uncles breakfast. It autodetects my monitors resolution and sets itself accordingly. Also has an onscreen menu if I what to play around with resolutions and other display properties.

The usual Monoprice deal - low cost, great quality.

PROS: It just works - no goofyness

    CONS: None

    Not Bad!
Needed to convert one of my Program component outs on my Panasonic switcher. This powered conversion is reliable with a clear signal. We're loving it.

PROS: - Everything you need to convert your component signal to VGA
    - Simple setup
    - Automatic resolution detection - no menu access required!

CONS: - Not a whole lot of documentation.

    Totally worth it.
If you have a VGA monitor you want to display component on, this is the only one to get. Monoprice makes wonderful stuff and this is no exception. I play my PS2, Wii, (and soon my modified N64) on my 22" Dell monitor now. Switching back and forth is pretty easy, even though at times I jump the gun and release the button too soon and the menu comes up instead of switching inputs. Overall I intend to use this product for a long time. It is the best on the market especially for its price.

PROS: Amazingly small and convenient size.
Gives the option to view component signal 3 ways: something like 4:3 16:9 or Full and does a wonderful job of scaling.
Menu options give you all you might need to tweek image but it probably won't be necessary since it displays so nicely.
The 3.5mm audio in and out are convenient.

CONS: The button scheme/configuration could be revised slightly.
Sometimes holding the button 3 seconds to switch between VGA and component can be annoying.
I suppose it makes sense that the 3.5mm audio ins and outs only work when it is in component mode but sometimes I wish they worked all the time.
Also, an on/off switch would be nice.

It does everything it says it can do, and well.
    To clarify:

I don't have any way to test the lag on this thing, but I was able to execute actions that require precise timing easily. (L-canceling in Melee, for example) This appears to be the case for both interlaced and progressive input. (Though the progressive image is of noticeably higher quality.)

The instruction booklet never explained what "Dark Detail" and "Motion Level" were. Hmmmmmm. It doesn't matter that much, but I would like to know.

I would have given this device 10 out of 10 if the instruction booklet were translated a bit better and provided more information. It's a small issue, and doesn't detract from the overall quality of the hardware.

PROS: - Perceptibly lagless, both in transcoding and deinterlacing.
    - Accepts 480i signals and deinterlaces them quickly. Most YPbPr converters do not do this at all, and few do it so well.
    - Better, faster scaling than your monitor/TV. Doubles as a competent upscaler.
    - Fast switching for image presets (Standard, Vivid, Soft, Sharp, and User-defined) and aspect ratios ( 4:3 , 16:9 , and 16:10 )

CONS: - The AC adapter cord is quite short.
    - The instructions are somewhat Engrish-y. You have to read them twice to understand everything.
    - The buttons were labeled differently than what was shown online and in the instruction booklet. ( Menu, Up, and Down were labeled "On/Off","SD/HD", and "Mode", respectively.) The new labels are still somewhat self-explanatory, however, and the buttons function in the same way.
