    1X2 Mini HDMI® Splitter w/ 3D support

Watch your video content on two displays at the same time using this 1x2 HDMI® Splitter from Monoprice!

This splitter features a small footprint, allowing it to be hidden behind your home theater equipment. It has a single HDMI input port and two HDMI output ports, each of which are gold-plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The splitter draws all the power it needs from the HDMI connection itself. However, an external 5 VDC power supply can be used instead.

The splitter supports High Speed HDMI signals, which means that it supports the following HDMI features:

    • 1080p Resolution - It supports the full 1080p@60Hz HDMI resolution.
    • 3D Video - It supports all standard HDMI 3D modes.
    • Deep Color - It supports deep color up to 12-bits per channel, 36-bits total.
    • High Definition Audio - It supports high-definition multi-channel audio signals, including Dolby TrueHD™ and DTS-HD Master Audio™.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances.

    Misleading Description
Will not pass uncompressed audio (DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD) through both outputs as I was only able to get a 2.0 downmixed PCM signal through the output. Product description is very misleading on box!

PROS: Passes video signal to two different sources.

CONS: Cannot simultaneously pass uncompressed sound through outputs.

Fixes all HDCP and sound issues with Xbox 360 (X360)
I encountered several issues between my Xbox 360 (X360) and my TV.

    1. No sound would play if display discovery was turned on
    2. No DVD would play because of "Secure HDCP link not found"

So I just bought this box and an additional HDMI cable.

    1. Plugged the xbox into the splitter
    2. Connected the splitter to the TV

At that point, the HDCP error was fixed, but sound from DVD was not playing on the TV. Sound from the games worked but not DVD.

So I went into the settings and reenabled "Display discovery", which now works thanks to this box, and also fixed the missing sound on DVDs.

Finally I can play DVDs with sound with my Xbox 360. HDCP is the worst crap I ever witnessed, I wish it would be banned from all electronics, it does not protect anything and makes your life miserable.

PROS: 1. Fixes all issues with Xbox 360
    2. Small and easy to install
    3. Cheap

    CONS: None

    Works Perfectly
I wanted to connect 2 TVs to the same cable box so we can watch the same program in kitchen and living room. I've seen a lot of horror stories about other splitters, but this one works great. Whether one TV or both TVs are on it works. I've heard other splitters can have a moment of flickering signal when turning on the other TV, this doesn't. Both of my TVs are Samsung 1080p supporting HDCP, but as long as both TVs are of the same resolution and HDCP support it should be fine.

Keep in mind this splitter is limited by the HDMI standard and so it must select the lowest common denominator between the TVs. If one TV is 1080i max and the other 720p max, then the result is a request to the source device to transmit 720p. Since both of my TVs are 1080p, I don't know if the "lowest common signal" only applies when both TVs are on with this splitter.

PROS: Very small, so you can hide it.
Haven't had a single issue with video quality.

    CONS: None

No 3D or Bitstream audio either
I was unable to get 3D through the device, the audio only in PCM format. Onkyo AV supports HDMI 1.4 and is capable to pass 3D and accept bitstream signal. I'll return it.

    works great for tv/projector setup
I'm using this to split the hdmi signal coming from my cable/DVR box and send it to the TV in the same room and a project in the next room via a 50ft hdmi cable. I have had no issues with the signal or the picture using this splitter.

    PROS: Compact size
    Great price
    Solid build

Very well made product, good price
I have six of these working with 4 TV's connected to a 6 input receiver daisy chained to a Monoprice 5 port HDMI switch, 6 Video game consoles, 2 PVR, 2 DVD players, 1 WDHD player, 1 HTPC and 1 Laptop. one of the TV's is two floors up in a kitchen. I need a few more splitters. They all work perfectly.

One thing I learned is you MUST use the power supply in spite of claims by MonoPrice, and most importantly - You must power the switch last - Power it first and no workee.

    PROS: It just works

CONS: I have 6 of these, every one of them needed the power supply to work.

Monoprice - Most users concur - you might want to change the product claims. Rated 9 by me for that reason

    Great Box
My company does professional video production and post. We needed splitters to run from a Canon 5D to an onboard monitor and client video village. We knew going into it there may be some issues when splitting the signal as the 5D down converts to a 480 signal upon recording but we tried it anyway. The splitter works great when plugged in and monitoring your set-up shot, but when you record the signal does not pass through and the Canon 5D will not record. It will work with the 7D or any other Camera that does not down convert a signal. All in all, it is a great splitter for the price and we use one in the studio for client monitors.

PROS: Works as advertised. Great splitter for the price.

CONS: Does not do signal conversions with a Canon 5D.

Does the job within limitation on 3D pass-through.
As always, a great quality Monoprice product at a great price. I have two of these for two different 2-TV applications. Despite the instructions, both TV's don't have to be on in order for a signal to be sent to either one...a good thing. On one application, I have a 3D TV and a non-3D TV hooked up, and it won't pass 3D channels from my DirecTV DVR to the 3D TV. Actually, after this happens, even if I disconnect the splitter and feed HDMI from the DVR directly to the 3D TV, It shows on the DTV 3D channel(s) that the TV is not 3D capable. I then have to reset the DVR (reboot it) for 3D channels to be active again for the TV to recognize them. When I posed this condition to Monoprice, I was told that this is the way it works (with this limitation). I don't believe (at the time I bought them) this is pointed out in the website description (that both TV's have to be 3D capable in order to pass through 3D signals). Other than that, it delivers a crisp 2D HD picture to both TV's, even on a 50' run to one of them.

    PROS: Plug and play
Delivers HDMI split even on a 50' cable run
    Small
    Well built for the price

CONS: Will support 3D ONLY if both TV's are 3D capable

    5/5
You can use one cable TV box to view Hi definition TV on 2 TV's without buying a second box from the cable company. Instead of paying for a "whole house DVR" monthly just pay $30 once and enjoy.
We use the product to watch the same channel in 2 separate rooms.

PROS: Affordable and ease of use. Just plug n go.

    CONS: None

Works great with Dish and Charter...however...
We are using two of these splitters, each with one cable box. We had Dish and it worked great. When we switched to Charter we had a problem with one of the splitters not transmitting the signal to both TVs.. The problem was with the signal from the HD Dual Tuner DVR (DCX3510-M). Solved the problem by switching the DVR/cable box to a TV without a splitter, and using a non-DVR cable box in its place. Everything is now working fine.

Additional Info: one of the splitters has output 2 connected to PID 4034 (40ft 22AWG CL2 standard HDMI). Second splitter has output 2 connected to PID 9171 ("Select Active Series High Speed HDMI Cable with RedMere Technology, 40 ft")

PROS: Small and easy to keep in place on TV mount with double sided picture foam.

    CONS: None

BEST ANSWER: It is powered and I have it on a 50ft. directional HDMI cable to a TV and it works fine. Hope this helps!
