Best large format monitor for the price
Pros: -Full one year warranty from a reputable company
-2560x1440 resolution
-IPS panel with LED backlight, 5ms response (looks great for gaming, relatively low power consumption)
-Large 27" screen
-Built-in speakers
-Thin, lightweight, ergonomic design

Cons: -No HDMI on 27" model
-No on-screen menu
-Slight yellowing of backlight near Monoprice logo (only noticeable when watching letterbox movie)

For the price you can't get any better than the Monoprice 27" IPS monitor. I use it for gaming and working with my i7-950, GTX 670 OC, 8GB DDR3, with SSD computer. The display is amazing despite it's few faults. Most games and or operating systems have built in gamma corrections for getting the best picture. Out of the box you will notice how sharp and impressively colorful this monitor is. It looks as good as the Mac Cinema display in my opinion. The glossy semi-reflective screen is great in my opinion and unless you are working in a very bright room with large windows directly behind you, the glossy screen seems to enhance the contrast of this screen. I've had several nice mid-level Dell, HP, and Asus monitors in the past six years and this monitor is by far the best I have owned. I can recommend it to anyone wanting more than an entry level, budget monitor. Monoprice support is great to work with. I would re-purchase in a heartbeat.

Solid monitor, great price
Pros: Image quality
Resolution/dollar
Thin

Cons: Pretty glossy, beware if you want to use in a room with windows that would be on it

Buttons a little funky, but you'll probably just mess with them once when you get it and not need to touch them again

Quality monitor, very good image quality for the $. I use this 10hrs a day for a CAD workstation and am very pleased. Highly recommended if you need a lot of real estate for a low price, and don't need unnecessary features that never get used anyway. People complain about the stand being cheap but who cares. It holds the monitor up just fine, the screen is what you care about.

I had hoped that a DP - DL DVI adapter would work for an input from a laptop but it has to be native DVI-DL, but that isn't a problem for any modern desktop. If you want to hook a laptop up you need to get the next model up. Speakers are standard fare for budget monitors.

Almost Perfect Monitor
Pros: Beautiful monitor, responsive, bright, not too much glare.

Cons: Have one stuck pixel right in the middle of my screen.

For the price it is very difficult to beat this monitor. It is very well made and nothing about it feels cheap, though I do have a few minor concerns on the stand. The display is beautiful and bright with very little glare. You don't have too many settings you can play with on the monitor which is fine because it comes out of the box looking solid.

My only major concern is that I now have one stuck pixel sitting right in the middle of my screen. It showed up after about a month and you only notice it during dark screens, it stays bright green.

So you are taking a small risk getting this monitor but the price makes it worth it.

Great buy
Pros: Zero dead pixels, shipped earlier than promised, incredible image quality especially at this price point.

Cons: The stand is a little wobbly, and there is no OSD.

I really almost feel bad giving this a 9/10 rather than a 10/10. I mean you really just can't do better with your money than this display. But as others have mentioned, the stand is a little flimsy. My computer desk is pretty solid, so it doesn't wobble when typing (which would be annoying), but it does bounce around in a somewhat scary way if I bump my desk with my chair. Yes, that is an issue with most displays this size, but this stand is noticeably flimsy compared to other (far more expensive) displays. Also, there is no OSD. Certainly not the end of the world, by any means, but it would be nice to have.

Don't get me wrong: I'll more-than-happily deal with those two things at this price point. But combined they mean I can't give it a perfect 10 although boy is it ever close.

The bottom line is, like I said, for the money this product can't be beat. If you're even considering spending $400 on any other kind of monitor, stop right now and just buy this one. You won't be disappointed.

Amazin display
Pros: I own this monitor for more than 2 months now, and i connect using Apple Mini Display Port to Dual-Link Display Adapter, with USB Extension to my Retina Mac Book Pro. It just works fine. All my colleagues were amazed with the monitor. This monitor even looks better than my Retina Mac Book Pro. Trust me, it is. You must see it, then you will know.

Cons: Wish it supports this resolution over HDMI, as HDMI1.4 does suppor this resolution. Otherwise, this monitor has thunderbolt support.

Just amazing .... amazing and amazing.

27" IPS LED CrystalPro Monitor WQHD 2560x1440
Pros: I am enjoying this monitor, the colors are bright and sharp and was easily set up.

Cons: None so far

The monitor is doing as advertised. My only disappointment was Monoprice simulated a shortage of these monitors and encouraged us to be notified when in stock and to buy when notified. A few days after I bought mine these monitors were reduced in price and placed on sale.

good value
Pros: clear, sharp, colorful

Cons: as others have said, the stand is too weak so it wants to wobble a lot, even just typing I cut 2 pieces of wood to put under the front edge, making it rock-solid

well worth the cost

Awesome monitor and the Price is a great value
Pros: Large size
High Resolution
Great price

Cons: The only con that I have with this monitor is the fact that the stem that connects the monitor to the base is not removable. If you plan on using the base then this is not an issue but if you are going to use the VESA mount then it will be hanging there. Not the end of the world but it is a con

This monitor is an awesome value. I have 0 bad pixels. I am running this on a EVGA 590 and games play great.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM
Monoprice is out of stock of the proprietary charging cables required to make this monitor even turn on in the first place. If you buy it, you will be unable to operate it.

Unbelievably, they shipped me a monitor without the power adapter and so it was about as useful as a paperweight on my desk. They then proceeded to hustle me through an utterly ineffectual RMA process that resulted in denying me a refund on my return shipping ($30+).

An utterly useless thing to buy right now. Save your money. Buy a reputable brand from a better company. ASUS, Dell, etc, etc.

Hello,

My apologies we shipped you a monitor without the necessary power cable and weren't able to locate one to ship out. From the status of your RMA it appears the RMA department will be refunding you the cost of the item as well as shipping. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We do also have a few newer models we will be releasing you may like if you decide to purchase another model in the future. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.

Pros: Works with old MacBook Pro with built-in DVI connector.

Cons: Doesn't work (yet) with Monoprice "Mini DisplayPort Thunderbolt + USB to Dual-Link DVI Adapter" attached to MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2011). Apple says the laptop "Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors."

Base is attached via tension and a screw, but wobbles on screw head due to shallow sticky-pad on one corner.

Works great on Mac Pro.
Pros: Great price, fast shipping, works very well.

Cons: Stand seems flimsy.

Just finished calibrating with a Spyder 4. Looks gorgeous. Works just fine in Mac OS X 10.7 with a dual-link DVI port on my video card (Radeon 3870).

Nice monitor - worth the money
Pros: bright
glossy finish
LED, so only uses ~65 watts
2560x1440 resolution
i got it when it was $365

Cons: about 7 dead pixels, maybe some of them are just imperfections in the outer layer of the panel
shipping to Canada is expensive
almost no light bleed

I bought this when it was $365 USD, but shipping from Ontario California to Ontario Canada was $62.75.
Convert that to Canadian dollars and it's ~$442. Charge on delivery was just short of 60$, 50 for customs and 10 for the broker.

I'm pretty happy with it, and at 503 Canadian dollars, I don't think i could have done better and still have a 30-day refund option and a 1-year warranty.

Gaming, file management, watching 720p videos, and programming are all much better with 2 1/4 times the pixels of my old 1080p monitor. I'm using it to write this review right now and it's awesome.

The real deal
Pros: Great display at an unbeatable price

Cons: Considering the price, none really.

This is the real deal: A true 2560x1440 27" display for under $400. The display is surprisingly decent - LED Backlit, IPS panel. More than good enough for all but the most discerning of graphic designers.

The display might be a little wobbly, but it is part and parcel with monitors this large. Unless you live in an earthquake prone area, you will never notice.

Unless you have a computer that already supports dual-link DVI, you are probably better off getting the model that supports DisplayPort and HDMI. I hooked mine up to my Dell XPS 13 using a mini-DP to Dual-Link HDMI converter. By the time I factored in the cost of the converter, I could have just gone with the native DisplayPort solution.

One other oddity - this is the first monitor in at least 10 years that I have seen that does not have some sort of On-Screen Display for the controls. I guess having OSD would have added to the cost. Not a big deal, as I can adjust the monitor just using the various buttons, old school style.

Added bonus: While it is not mentioned anywhere in the description, this monitor does have built-in speakers (and even comes with a 1/8" audio).

SUPER IMPRESSED
Pros: Super impressed by this monitor. Coming from a 27" Acer S271HLid TN panel monitor the difference is night and day. Every shade of color is simply better on this monitor.. i have them side by side and i can't believe i ever thought that acer was any good. I also love that it doesnt take FOREVER to turn on as my acer did. Games simply look amazing @ 2560x1440... thankfully a gtx670 is enough for the games that i play.

Cons: Stand is a bit wobly... and that lil hump isnt removable. And its definitely a con i don't have 3 of them (some day).

From the packaging, to the power on... to the color.. every... everything about this monitor was what i had wanted it to be. I have 0 dead pixels... and from what i can see.. no light bleeds going on either!!!! And monoprice was awesome to give me store credit because it went on sale 2 days after i purchased it. I will definitely be investing in more of these beautiful monitors... i can never go back to TN panels

DVI-D??
Pros: High Res

Cons: DVI-D

DVI-D is old technology that cannot possible support this resolution to its full capacity. In order to be a truly high def, high res monitor, it should be using Display Port technology.

by Monoprice Administrator
Hello Mel,

Sorry for any confusion but DVI-D most certainly does support 2560x1440 in addition to Display Port. You may be perhaps thinking of DVI single link which does not. A dual link cable is provided and if you are having trouble with your monitor or curious if your card will support the resolution of the monitor we would be more than happy to help. We also have a higher model monitor that does support Display Port, DVI-D and HDMI. I have pasted a link below just in case.

Excellent Quality no dead pixels
Pros: * Superb image
* No dead pixels
* Even backlight
* Standard VESA mounts

Cons: None.

This is my first time buying from Monoprice. I was very hesitant about buying a "discount" monitor from a company I don't know but I was pleasantly surprised. The monitor is a pleasure to look at, the resolution and pixel density are excellent, and there are no dead pixels! The back-light is very even (except for a narrow dark band in the lower quarter of the monitor... I could only see it when I looked carefully during a dead-pixel test. I have looked for it during regular work, but have not been able to detect it.

As some of the other reviews mention, the stand is a little flimsy, but it has standard VESA mounting, so I just used the excellent stand from my (now dead) Dell 3008WPS. It attached with no problem.

I will likely by more, for home and company use.

Excellent Value
Pros: Large size and huge resolution at a low cost

Cons: Limited inputs, wobbly stand, no on-screen controls, limited controls for color setup

In a sea of average 1080p choices for monitors, the 27" 2560x1440 CrystalPro monitor stands out. Other monitors in this size, resolution, and quality will run $700 - $1,000. This monitor is barebones, but comes in under $400.

I'll mainly use this monitor for programming, so the real estate bump from my old 1920x1200 monitor is much appreciated. This was the main reason for choosing the WQHD 2560x1440 CrystalPro. I also plan to do some 3D gaming and will take advantage of the extra resolution.

The picture quality is better than I expected. There are no stuck or dead pixels and the default color and contrast are acceptable. It's a good thing, because the only controls are brightness and volume. This worried me, but having used the monitor for a week now, I can say that this will not be a problem for me. Those finicky about color calibration may miss these controls.

There is some light bleed in the corners. This may be a viewing angle issue as I can focus on the bright corner and the effect is minimized. Still, it's noticeable enough to mention, but only when the screen is completely black.

In order to obtain the 2560x1400 resolution, a dual link DVI-D cable is required. This is not a limitation of the monitor, but all PC monitors needing more than 1920x1200 signals. The video card must also be able to support dual link output. Any recent 3D gaming card should support this, but it's probably worth checking. Other resolutions work of course, but you will be missing the value of this beauty. Mac users may need additional adapters, so read about that if you plan to connect Apple computers or laptops.

There is only one DVI-D connection and this hurts because I like to connect gaming consoles and other PC's to my main monitor. Connecting an Xbox over an HDMI to DVI cable works fine at 720p, but I'll need to switch cables in order to do so. Dual link DVI KVM switches are expensive! And the HDMI switches I have tried do not work. If anyone has had luck with a sub-$50 switch, I would like to know.

The stand is wobbly as I'm sure you have already read, but I'm not concerned about it falling over. It's cheap and short. If you are worried, get a VESA stand or mount. Bear in mind, the stem of the stand cannot be removed. Otherwise, it's an attractive monitor and seems thinner and smaller than the 28" 1920x1200 monitor it's replacing. The Monoprice logo isn't as gaudy as you would expect. The LED power light is a little bright.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. I got exactly what I ordered a huge resolution monitor with a decent picture for half the cost of a name brand monitor. The features are limited, yes, but the pros outweigh the cons.

Excellent Monitor / Easy Fix for Wobbly Stand
Pros: Excellent high resolution LED IPS monitor Displays very sharp high resolution images Plastic frame (less energy used for production/shipping) Minimalist stand

Cons: The blue On/Off LED light is too bright (need to cover 2/3 of it with black electrical tape)

This is a no frill WQHD 2560x1440 IPS monitor. Two concerns before I ordered. (1) DVI-D dual link only. I confirmed spec on video card manufacturer's web site before order. No surprise. Connect, power up, it displays 2560/1440. (2) Wobbly stand. Adjust tilt so that screen is vertical, squeeze a piece of clear polycarbonate (26 cm x 5 cm x 2 mm) vertically between the underside of monitor and the rectangular base of the stand. Significant less shaking. I like the visual simplicity of the stand.

Good display at an even better price
Pros: Low price
Good image quality
No dead pixels on arrival

Cons: Somewhat wobbly stand

I was a little hesitant purchasing a monitor so much cheaper than the competition, but I'm glad that I did. The display itself looks great (subjectively at least). The blacks are noticeably blacker than my old TN panel next to it and I've not noticed any dead pixels so far. I also see little to no backlight bleed around the edges. The display adjustments are minimal (just brightness and contrast I believe), but sufficient. Chances are you'll be using this with a decent graphics card and can make finer adjustments if needed in your driver. Even the little touches are nice, such as putting the connectors along the side instead of the bottom, making them much easier to access.

The only weakness, as others have mentioned, is the stand. It's certainly on the wobbly side, but it stands up straight on my desk and doesn't move under normal use. The viewing height is good for me so I probably won't bother buying a better stand anytime soon.

I would definitely recommend this display to a friend, and might even get a second one myself.

This isn't cheap, it's a bargain
Pros: Sharp and crisp display in a large format for very good price.

Cons: The shell of the monitor is all plastic, but that's to be expected for such a low price.

I've never owned a large format display before, so I have nothing to compare it against. But if I've been missing this for this long, then I've been blissfully ignorant. The screen is bright and sharp. There isn't a dead pixel to be seen. This is good enough for me to ditch my dual monitor setup (1600x1200) and I'm not missing anything. I'm driving it with an HD6670, which I was doubtful would be able to do it. I'm glad my doubt was misplaced. The base isn't as bad as many here say it is. It's solid enough as long as you're not fiddling with the positioning all the time. Buy it if you have the coin. It's worth every penny.

Our experience using this display with Macs
Pros: Looks great

Cons: Annoying stand nub, technically removable.

We picked up one of these displays at my work place to test out. The intended machine was going to be with an iMac, and we were curious if it was going to work due to the various reviews and product description that stated it would not.

I am here to report that it worked just fine. Obviously, your milage may vary.

We initially tested it with a Mid 2011 21.5" iMac running 10.7.5, using Monoprice's Mini Displayport to Dual-link DVI adaptor (product 6904). This worked with no issues.

We then tried out a Mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro running 10.8.3, again, no issues.
The same was true of a Mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro running 10.7.5 and a Late 2008 Macbook Pro 15" running 10.6.8.

We only noticed one dead pixel in testing.

Besides that, the display looks bright, crisp, and we have no complaints. The stand was quite flimsy, but we mounted it to a Monoprice desk mount.

And yes, for those who are concerned about the stand nub that is seemingly not removable, it technically is, though I'm sure Monoprice wouldn't honor your warranty if you remove it.
Remove the four screws along the bottom of the display.
Work around the bezel with a non-marring pry tool the bezel is removable. Pull this off, there are four tabs on the sides of the display. Release these and lift the display gently, lifting the bottom. NOTE: The top middle of the display has numerous cables coming out of it. This must be done gently. Using a stubby phillips screwdriver, you should be able to remove the two screws which affix the mount stub to the display.
I would not recommend this if you have not taken apart a display or any other piece of electronics before, or if you value your warranty, but if that nub really annoys you, it's possible to remove it.

Looks great, intermittently.
Pros: Nice, big screen.
Excellent price.

Cons: Doesn't work on Macs.
Flimsy base.

Waited forever to get this monitor. It came in yesterday and I needed to go get a mini display port to dual-link DVI adapter (another $90) to make it work.

But, it didn't work. Sadly, no matter what Mac I tried, it would come on and then off, and on, and then off.

This monitor is not compatible with the hardware of the most valuable company in the world. It will, however, work with your crappy Dell. Go figure.

by Monoprice Administrator
Hi Eric,

My apologies not being able to get the Mac working with your monitor. Unfortunately, this issue is related to recent updates introduced to Lion/Mountain Lion since the introduction of Airplay as a built in option with release of the new Retina/and 2012 models. Those updates have subsequently found their way into older revisions of their OS ( Snow Leopard, etc. ) There are many threads on Apple Support Community forums speaking of this issue, however there are no “official” fixes. The problem is not your Hardware, your video card your Mac in general is just fine!

Regardless of the make or model we would experience the same problem.
In order to discover the root of the problem, we had proceeded to Boot camp both Windows 8 and Windows 7 on a 2011 Macbook Air, and 2012 Retina Macbook Pro. We were surprised to see that is was isolated to just the MAC OS, and the multiple displays worked flawlessly.

I hope this helps clears up some of the issues for you and again my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.

Non-removable stand "neck"
Lack of connection options

As many have pointed out, the stand is indeed cheap and the monitor only accepts dual-link DVI but if you're ok with that, you're in for a treat when it comes to picture quality.

By far the biggest issue for me was the non-removable "neck" which sucks if you're using an arm to mount the monitor (standard 100mm vesa mount is on the back). You have to take the casing apart to take the stand off . it's pretty easy but seems silly - I wish they just put the screws for the stand on the outside instead of the inside.

In any case, this is a hell of a deal. You won't be disappointed if you're a video editor or graphic designer on a budget.

Great deal!
Pros: High resolution, low price.

Cons: The stand obviously. Small back light bleeding in bottom corners.

NO dead pixels! Great monitor for the price. Stand sucks, but knew that before I bought it. Fast shipping. Great job Monoprice.

Pros: Nice, big, worked, no dead pixels

Cons: doesn't work on my 2010 Macbook Pro

Would keep if it worked on my primary machine.

Fantastic but . . .
Pros: No dead pixels
Vibrant display

Cons: Not HDCP compliant

This is a beautiful monitor with one fatal flaw for my use with a home theater computer: it is not HDCP compliant over dual link at 2560 x 1440. This means that you can't use it for bluray or copy-protected cable TV with Windows Media Center. Monoprice service is, however, superior. They handled the return quickly and without any hassles.

Pros: It looked great for the few minutes before it died.

Cons: It died within minutes. Crappy stand, but I was going to wall mount it anyway.

The monitor turned on and looked great. There was a single dead pixel off to the side. Within a few minutes, it went black and started flickering and making a popping sound. It doesn't work on my desktop or laptop now. Judging by the other reviews, I just got unlucky.

Great Display!
Pros: Great quality. Clear colors. No dead pixels. VESA mounts. It does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Cons: Extra buttons that don't do anything. I have the monitor attached to an articulated arm but i can't remove the vertical portion of the stand, so I have this 4" stump hanging down from the bottom of the screen.

While I can't knock the monitor for requiring a dual-link DVI connection as it clearly states so. It absolutely requires a dual-link DVI connection. All of the components from the PC to the screen must be dual-link. If you have to switch from DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI, you need to get an active converter like the Accell UltraAV B087B-002B.

Great Display
Pros: Great color. No dead pixels. Well packaged.

Cons: Bottom corners have some light leaks but nothing terrible. Won't stop me from buying a second one!

The monitor is great. I use it for video and photo editing. Not a single dead pixel. I don't get the complaint about a wobbly stand. Unless your constantly bumping your desk (get a girlfriend) then I don't see why it's a big deal that it can be slightly wobbly. It certainly won't fall over from the slight wobble. The bottom corner light leaks isn't a huge issue. DVI-D connection just like it states in description, so unless you can't read (and a friend is reading this to you) or don't look up what DVI-D means it shouldn't be a shock or a complaint. DVI-D is great for extending your desktop across multiple monitors which is exactly what I want to do. Check your video card to make sure it supports DVI-D.

You get what you pay for
Pros: Low price, high resolution

Cons: Inconsistent brightness across the picture (not quite but almost ruining the picture), horrible speakers, large power brick, cheap chassis

it has a fake "on" button on the front that I pressed, only to have
it snap off and fall inside the monitor casing. Now there's a big hole
in the front of my monitor.

The built-in speakers are horrible, they make a whistling sound, the amp must have
been poorly designed. So horrible that they should not have even been included, it's not even worth calling it a feature. There are some fake buttons below the monitor
that don't do anything. I already expected these though. The snap-off button in the front was a surprise though.

But the picture looks good and it worked without a hitch. A moderately
strong complaint is that there is a bad whitening effect due to the
backlight. This whitening is horrible when the brightness is high, and
it's only slightly bad when the brightness is moderate. This is super
noticeable and annoying when watching movies that are letterboxed. The monitor is
great for working on, when its brightness is turned low, and I have true full
screen picture that is sufficiently "busy" that I don't really notice the inconsistent brightening.

There's no transformer in the monitor's chassis so the power cable has a large power supply brick, that is kind of annoying. I guess in theory it makes the monitor thinner, but it really looks about the same thickness as my other monitors that do not have a brick.

Anyway, it's an okay value, but I wouldn't buy it again nor would I recommend it to anybody who is serious about graphics. You get what you pay for. I was led to expect low-quality everything, except for high picture quality, and this would have satisfied me. However, the product only delivered low-quality everything. Disappointing.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the customer support. I am satisfied with the monitor, and I do not wish to go through the hassle of returning it. As I stated, it is an acceptable value, although I was expecting more. If possible I would revise my rating to 7/10 as the whitening has not been as much of an issue as I had originally feared, and Monoprice's customer service has been quite good. (Whitening effect is still there, of course, but I got used to it and it doesn't bug me much anymore). You can close my case if you want to.

Great monitor for a great price
Pros: Very high contrast and vibrant colors. Very affordable. Great Performance

Cons: Limited adjustment options, very basic

This Monitor is fantastic, the contrast between the lights and darks is amazing, at the price, it is an unbeatable value. If you are going to limit somebody to an input that is on a graphics card, why not display port? The adjustment on the monitor is limited to brightness control everything else has to be done through the graphics card settings. The worst thing about this monitor is that it stands head and shoulders above my old 24" 1080p monitors, and makes me realize what I have been missing. I would recommend it in a heartbeat, if you need a monitor and you can spend the money get one you will not be disappointed.

Working on MacBook Pro Retina
Pros: Great value. Unbeatable display for the price.

Cons: Gloss Finish. Dual-link DVI only.

This is a fantastic monitor. We previously purchased a similar unit on Ebay. Now that Monoprice carries them we will be purchasing more. NOTE: We have it connected to a 13" MBP Retina with an mini-diplayport to DVI adapter that is made by Accel and it is working like a champ! Will test with more MacBook model when time permits.

by ODAdmin
Tested with Mid 2012 13" MBA (Mountain Lion) and 2011 13" MBP (Snow Leopard) and both work as well. Note: We have tested using both the Accell B087B-003J UltraAV miniDisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter and the Apple A1306 adapter. We do not have the Monoprice adapter so we are unable to comment on that configuration.

Love it
Pros: Color, glossy, no stuck or dead pixels, price

Cons: stand, black levels

I orginally bought an Auria panel from Microcenter but had to return it because it was not LED, glossy, or a 10bit panel as they used to be. I hooked up this new Monoprice monitor and I'm glad I went with this one. Colors look great and the picture is very clear. There were no stuck or dead pixels at all. The only complaints I have are the black levels on the lower corners are not very good, and as others have said, the stand is terrible. I have not noticed any input lag from the display and am happy with the purchase. I use this for gaming, photo editing, and general web use.

Simply Amazing!
Pros: - Screen is perfect (Not a single dead pixel)
- Stand is minimal and looks great with monitor styling
- Everything else...

Cons: - NONE!

(I'll update this review if I find anything I don't like)

I have ZERO issues with my monitor. I can't even for the life of me figure out what people are complaining about with the monitor being wobbly. The only thing I can think of is that these are "special" people who can't figure out how to unscrew the bolt and screw in the stand to the arm. Once that's done it's no less wobbly (when you touch it) than ANY OTHER MONITOR.

So, if you want the best monitor for the best price, buy this one!

P.S. Quick shout out to Monoprice for surprising the shit out of me and having it delivered 9 days before they said it would be available. You guys are the BEST and I will be praising your name all over the internet.

Pros: Beautiful screen. Nice and bright. Zero dead pixels afaict.

Cons: A little too bright by default settings. Glossy screen isn't for everyone.

Great monitor and great value. Next time I buy a monitor, I'm going to get another one of these or one of the 30" displays. Thanks Monoprice! Now we just need monoprice to expand to more consumer electronics. :)

Beautiful Monitor - Terrible Stand
Pros: Monitor is gorgeous and vibrant.
Backlight is pretty variable.

Cons: Stand is TERRIBLE.
Only DVI-D

So, this monitor is beautiful and lives up to the hype of quality, but the stand is complete trash. I'd love a replacement for it, or maybe I'll just VESA mount it eventually.

Having only DVI in isn't that big of a deal, but it'd be nice to have HDMI in as well.

Gorgeous and better warranty than the Korean monitors coming from ebay for similar pricing.

EXCELLENT monitor but DOES NOT WORK AT ALL with Dell/Macs
Pros: The display is awesome and a monitor with features identical to an Apple Thunderbolt but at such an affordable price is a great deal!

Cons: This monitor doesn't work with DELL Precision (M4600), DELL Precision (M4500) and Apple McMini (Dec 2012 model) or any other Mac's for that matter.

I went absolutely crazy trying to connect it to my Windows Laptops (DELL Precision M4600 and M4500) and also spend additional $70 to buy a display port to VGA adapter. This did not work. So, I turned the NVIDIA Optimus technology in order to drive the display from the discrete graphics card. This did not work either. I updated all the device and graphic drivers but this did not work. I was so much in love with this monitor, that I went ahead and purchased a $600 MacMini. This monitor still did not work. The only laptop it works with is Apple Macbook Pro (2009 end). However in that too you have to start this monitor in a specific order else the screen will continuously keep flickering. Now, I have no choice but to spend $36 and return this monitor. Worse is that now this company is advertising this product as 'not compatible with Macs'. If I had this information earlier, I would have never bought this monitor and moreover gone through all the hassles.

Great Monitor for Price, unstable stand.
Pros: - Included DVI-D cable
- Monoprice deadpixel warranty

Cons: - Unstable, wobbly stand
- no swivel & tilt

Great display (no dead pixels on mine). Best bang for your buck for a 27" IPS display. Received mine within 72 hours of purchase (shipped to BC, Canada). For fellow Canadians interested in purchasing this monitor, it cost about $130 extra for shipping and cross-border taxes ($70 DHL + $60 in taxes).

I use an active displayport to dvi-d adapter from my laptop (Lenovo T420) to drive the full 2560x1440 resolution without a problem. I have a second smaller VGA lcd panel and have quite a nice setup for my work.

The stand is the major flaw in this monitor. The base screws onto the unmovable plastic neck of the monitor but doesn't sit properly, so it wobbles quite a lot. As a result, on a flat desktop, my copy of this monitor actually tilts slightly to the right which requires me to stick a wad of paper underneath the right side of the based to straighten things. The single screw that attaches the base plate to the plastic neck on my copy also protrudes further outwards than the bottom of the stand, so it actually contacts the table top and further makes the stand uneven, unbalanced, and unstable.

Despite the poor stand, I am quite happy with my purchase.

Pros: Stunning 2560 x 1440 Display
Price
Warranty

Cons: Does not work with current Mac products
Flimsy stand
Lack of inputs

I was pretty excited at the prospect of getting a display comparable to an Apple Thunderbolt Display at less than 1/2 of the price. That excitement ended when I received the item and it does not work with any of my Apple products (late 2012 Mac Mini, 2011 Macbook Air and 2010 Macbook pro). I've tested the monitor with the Monoprice dual link dvi/displayport adapter as well as the Apple adapter. With the Monoprice adapter, I get no signal whatsoever and with the Apple adapter, the screen turns on and off every 5 seconds or so.
I've been talking to Monoprice tech support and they tell me that there seems to be an incompatibility with Apple products, and that a resolution is being worked on. My only option is to return the item for a refund and rebuy the item when a solution is found. I was told to continue to contact Monoprice tech support to find out if a fix has been found.

So for those thinking about buying this for use on their Apple machines, do not buy it. Sure you will save over 1/2 the price, but you won't be able to use it! It does work fine on my Windows machine.

Just a suggestion to Monoprice- you should put on your description that is it incompatible with Mac. That should save some aggravation for customers who buy this item only to find out it doesn't work.

Hello,

My apologies for the problems you have had with getting the monitor to work with your Mac. The problem is not your Hardware, your video card on your Mac in general is just fine.

Unfortunately regardless of the make or model we would experience the same problem.

Hope this helps clarify things and perhaps find other use for the monitor. If not I can issue an RMA for a return. I would just need your order number to get the process started. Again sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Sincerely

Does NOT work with certain Macs
Pros: Price

Please note that certain macs do not support this monitor, at least as of the present writing. I am a late-2012 rMBP and a 2011 Mac Mini and with both of them, the screen comes on for a short second, then goes black. (Yes, I am using the $69 Monoprice adapter.)I contacted Monoprice tech support who said that there may be an issue with a recent Apple firmware update breaking support for not only this display, but other displays as well.

For the split second the image appears, it looks great, but I wanted folks to be aware since the Mac problems are not covered in any reviews yet, nor is Mac compatibility specifically mentioned anywhere on the website. Else, you end up like I, with two unusable products that I need to ship back.

Great Monitor
Pros: The monitor itself is great - fantastic colors and no dead pixels!

Cons: I was hoping to use this monitor with a laptop that has a Mini-Displayport port.

I bought the Monoprice dual-link DVI to Mini-Displayport active adapter (6904) along with the monitor, however it seems that this monitor does not work with said adapter. When I plugged it in, the video would display briefly on the monitor before it would go black. I also tried the Apple dual-link DVI to Mini-Displayport active adapter, which had similar behavior but kept flashing on and off but never would stay on. When I tested the monitor on another computer that had a dual-link DVI port on it, it worked perfectly. Therefore, please note that this monitor may not work with a dual-link DVI to mini-displayport active adapter

Love the new Monitor
Pros: Great picture and no dead pixels.

Cons: Lots of light bleed around the edges (Only shows when on black/very dark screens), the stand is horrible, and the bezel feels cheap.

I knew what I was getting into based on the reviews and for me the pros far outweighed the cons. The picture on this monitor is simply amazing! It is as crisp and clear as I would expect on a high end IPS monitor.

The light bleed on mine was more than what I was expecting based on other reviews but isn't noticeable in everyday work in Windows which is what this monitor is used for. If I was a gamer I think it would get old with the light bleed real quick.

The selling point for me was the price/monoprice warranty. If you can live with the cons then by all means get this monitor.

Great panels but weird hardware glitch?
Pros: Bright display. Good colour accuracy and deep blacks. No dead pixels. Really high res.

Cons: Limited 'on-monitor' adjustments (back light and on/off buttons only), wobbly stand, difficult to calibrate to match dell2408 wfp.

Overall I'm happy with this purchase and I'd give it a higher mark but I've been frustrated since I hooked up this monitor strangely my mouse has been stuttering every 10 seconds and clicks are occasionally delayed which makes it difficult to do graphics work/editing. I'm not 100% the monitor is causing this, but I tested it for a full day (multiple setups, dual display/single, new cables) and it only happens when its connected.
Monoprice has been contacted to see if they know what the issue is.
Running OSX 10.6.8 with Radeon 5770

by Shay
UPDATE:
The mouse problem is a result of kernel panics caused by bad drivers between the Monoprice monitor and the Radeon HD5770 in Snow Leopard on a 2006 Mac 1,1
It's such a specific problem that there are no solutions other than using a different monitor.
Took me a week of research to figure this out, and now I'm sad.

Great Value
Pros: - Great price
- No dead pixels
- Very bright

Cons: - Slight backlight bleed bottom left
- Cannot completely remove stand
- Slightly wobbly stand

Overall, this was a great purchase. No dead pixels at all. Color is great for typical web surfing and other work. Not sure if the color is good enough for professional design work.

Amazing Monitor but not working with my Mac Mini
Pros: On my Windows 7 box it's rock solid
NO dead pixels
Even for such a deal the monitor stand adjusts (Tilt)
For me the glossy finish makes it look awesome (I do NOT prefer Matte)

Cons: Does not work correctly with my Mac Mini (Late 2012) - I have the Apple MiniDisplay Port to Dual Link DVI Adapter and the monitor is recognized on boot by my Mac, then once I get to the log-in screen (and any after) the monitor cycles from on with my desktop (looks amazing), to sleep (light goes to Red), then back to on and then back to asleep (cycle never stops). I'm working with Monoprice support but so far no resolution. The reviews on the Mini-Display Port to Dual Link DVI adapters (both Apples and Monoprices) aren't all that great, so perhaps it's just something flaky with the technology to convert using this super high resolution? Anyone else having these issues with their Mac?

When using the Tilt Adjustment I feel like I could break the monitor so I pick it up and move the sand by pulling the sand itself (vs. pushing on the monitor to try and adjust) - I don't have to adjust the tilt often, so this is a minor issue

Overall this Monitor is a HUGE WIN, I was worried that for the price there would be major sacrifices, but honestly, at this point (I've only had it a few days now) I love it. It's only able to work on my windows PC currently, but it just looks amazing, I want one for work! I really wanted the Apple Monitor but for 1000$ and it only working with MAC's, I was hoping to get this one and use it on both and it it worked well I could buy a 2nd one and still save 200$. At this point, I'm thinking this will be a windows only monitor and I'll look for a old/used Apple monitor for my Mac. If I get this monitor working with my Mac I'll update this post.

Returning Product
Pros: None

Cons: Doesn't work with my MacBook Pro, wobbly stand, can't remove the neck of the monitor, the screw under the base isn't flush, non-adjustable angled viewing, can't use my monitor stand without washers.

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro (unibody) and this monitor doesn't work with the Monoprice DVI-D adapter (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=6904&seq=1&format=2). It turns on for a few seconds then turns off. It does this every 5 minutes or so.

Other reasons listed in the cons above. I never got a chance to turn it on so I have no idea about quality.

Looking to get refunded ASAP.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your review. Just to make sure, what kind of videocard do you have on the Macbook Pro? Is it the integrated Intel or Nvidia or AMD? If possible have you tried already forcing the resolution on the Mac? Have you already tried testing this on another Apple or Mini displayport device? Please let me know, thank you!

I tried making the resolution on the montior 1024x768 and it still didn't work. I have not tested on another Apple and I believe it is the Intel, but I would have to check once more.

I didn't test it on another machine because if it doesn't work on mine, then there is no point in owning it.

The package was sent out yesterday and I hope you and your team receive it soon for review.

Thank you.

Pros: It comes with the DVI cable you need so you do not have to buy a cable like I did.

Cons: Mine had 1 dead pixel.

It comes with the DVI cable you need so you do not have to buy a cable like I did. You will probably need a stand to put it on if you want to raise it. Your are not going to be able to beat the price and the quality anywhere.

Extraordinary panel. Mediocre everything else.
Pros: This panel deserves a 9/10 because I bought this for the sole purpose of having a high quality WQHD screen.
* Pixel perfect panel
* Colors remain true essentially up to 180 degrees
* Great color and contrast out-of-box - someone please link to a calibrated profile, if possible
* Barely noticeable ghosting while gaming (still slower than TN panels, however)
* VESA mount compatible
* Has speakers...

Cons: * "Glass" portion of stand is not removable
* Stand itself wobbles if you adjust volume or brightness
* Limited inputs - only DVI-D
* This particular unit has a partially defective power button - if you push it, it will become stuck (either on or off). After some working it out, I don't anticipate pressing the button too often

The unit comes well packages in two heavy duty boxes. First attempt to turn on the screen by the power button caused it to become stuck. After a few minutes of prying it out, the unit turned on fine. I probably wont return this unit just because it arrived without any dead pixels and I don't feel like playing that lottery again.

Just be aware that everything besides the actual LCD display is relatively mediocre quality. It can also be aesthetically annoying for some who use the VESA mount, as the stand cannot be removed.

Absolutely amazing display!
Pros: Bright and beautiful display
Warranty!
Monoprice customer service

Cons: Limited availability! :)

I've been waiting for this unit to become available for about 6 months, rather than take my chances with an overseas unknown. I'm pleased I waited because the display is gorgeous and clear. No dead pixels that I could find and I wouldn't know what light bleed looks like. I'm also not a gamer or graphic artist, so I can't comment on what a high-end display should look like, but it makes my 24" Acer look terrible!

The stand isn't as wobbly for me or my desk as others reported, but YMMV. The power button also isn't intuitive (it's a bottom-mounted, on the left, not next to the LED).

I have been waiting for 2 months for this to come back in stock - the instant it did, I placed the order. Very disappointed to say it was completely dead when it reached me. I've been told they will replace or refund - I took the refund as it is out of stock with no guarantee as to when they will get more.

Hello Mac,

Thank you for your review and my apologies for the issues you have experienced with PID 9579. A shame the display arrived DOA.. Glad to hear you were able to get a refund though. Now once the displays are back in stock, they will be listed on our site and social media outlets. Sorry again for the trouble and hope this helps!

Awesome Panel, Cheap Plastic, Perfect.
Pros: This display is awesome. Higher resolution that most monitors in its size / price range.

Cons: Glossy screen, I prefer matte.
Plastic feels like it might break when adjusting the angle.

This is what a computer monitor should be (1080p panels are for TV's, not computer monitors). The price is impossible to beat. Keep up the good work Monoprice!

Best IPS monitor for the price... anywhere
Pros: Beautiful, full HD display, indistinguishable from Apple IPS monitor
Came with all necessary parts/cables
No dead pixels
Sturdy stand
Looks great

Cons: No HDMI but hey for this price and dual-link DVI don't consider it a complaint

This monitor looks amazing. 2560x1440 resolution is phenomenal. It is literally the same monitor as the Apple retina monitor for a 1/3 of the price. There should be nothing stopping you from picking this up when it's not sold out.

Good monitor
Pros: -Came with no dead pixels
-Warranty I can actually believe will serve me
-Quality display without the mark up
-Single input actually helps me in gaming (reduces input lag)

Cons: -(neutral) Black light bleed in bottom right, but as expected.
-(neutral) no scaler, expected and also helps reduce input lag.
-"Glass stand" is not removable without voiding warranty (had to remove stars for this)

Got my unit in 1 day via Norco. I was wrong in doubting them lol. Their tracking number never worked and they didn't send me an email with the picture like I see other people having. They just left it at my front door and didnt even ring the doorbell, but overall I was pretty satisfied with the speed especially considering it was only $10 for overnight on a 27 pound package.

As for the actual monitor, I have 0 dead/bright pixels which is great. There is quite a bit of black light bleed via the bottom right corner, but it was expected and honestly not a big deal in actual use. I had to pay ~$388 after tax and shipping in CA and am very pleased with my purchase. Got it for around the same price as a Korean seller, but got lucky with no dead pixels + 1 year warranty I can actually believe in

Note: To the other buyer who says his power is stuck on, the actual power button is the right most button on the bottom of the panel. I got confused for a while too til I started playing around

Light bleed at bottom of screen
Pros: Nice IPS screen and quality. Really nice at every angle.

Cons: There was light bleed from the bottom left middle of the screen.
Stand is Flimsy

There was light bleed from the bottom left middle of the screen, especially noticeable when watching dark scenes in movies or when the desktop has a dark background. It was really annoying that the rest of the screen was amazing except for this one major defect. I am getting a replacement and hopefully it was just the one unit I got that had the problem.

Great monitor for the price
Pros: Great image quality - definitely on par with the Apple Cinema display

No dead/stuck pixels

Came with DVI Dual Link cable and 3.5mm audio cable

Built-in speaker (though low quality sound)

Cons: Base is a little flimsy - monitor shakes if I bump my desk

No built-in USB hub

I'm very pleased with this monitor I'd gotten spoiled by an Apple Cinema Display at work and wanted something similar at home, but didn't want to spend $900. The display of the Monoprice monitor seems every bit as good as the Apple monitor. I didn't find any dead or stuck pixels at all and the backlighting is is quite even across the display, with a tiny bit of bleed near the bottom of the display as compared to the top, only visible on an all-black screen. I'm not a graphic designer so can't speak to the ability of the panel to be color calibrated, but for my use it's perfect. I wish the screen was less reflective, but it's no worse than the Apple monitor.

Fit and finish is not as good, with a plastic base and standard black plastic bezel around the monitor, but it still looks fine. The plastic base is a little flimsy, if I bump my desk, the monitor sways a bit. Not a huge deal, but the metal base on the Apple monitor is definitely more sturdy.

The speaker is pretty low-fi, the speaker in my cell phone sounds better. But having the speaker is just a "bonus", I didn't have any speakers at all previously (I use headphones) and if I wanted high quality sound, I'd buy "real" speakers.

I wish it had a USB hub like my old monitor, but I'll just buy a cheap standalone hub.

Good for my needs
Pros: The display is as nice as advertised.
Dual link DVI-D cable is included.
It has built-in, low quality speakers.

Cons: The stand is truly horrible.
On/Off switch didn't work

I needed a monitor with a reasonable height (1080 pixels) for work. And I like big monitors. Since comparable monitors are very expensive, I was pleased with Monoprice's pricing. I had to down rate this monitor because it has some real issues. For my needs though, I think I'm going to be happy with it.

It seems like a lot of the savings on this monitor were due to the quality of many of the non-display parts. As many have commented, the stand is a joke. Because of the size of the thumbscrew used to secure the base to the arm, it will not sit flat, but wobbles a bit. The actual connection between the two is very weak and also contribute to wobbling. It's just not stable. I'll be ordering a stand from Monoprice this week to give it more stability. Unfortunately, you can't remove the existing arm with anything less than a saw, so I'm just going to live with it.
The on/off switch doesn't move so it's permanently on. Definitely not worth returning over since it powers down to sleep mode properly.
I've seen one dead pixel (by looking hard), but on a monitor of this resolution, they are almost impossible to detect. Not an issue for me.
The only connection is a Dual-Link DVI-D. No display port. This is mentioned in the description and isn't an issue for me, but you might want to make sure your graphics card can drive this monitor.
The speakers weren't mentioned in the description. They are rather cheap and tinny. But if they weren't there, I would probably have had to attach some cheap and tinny speakers to my computer myself, so I'm happy with these. Obviously, you don't have to use them.

Hooked up to my computer, the display looks great, and that's definitely the most important thing to me. I use a 30" Dell at home, but couldn't afford to spend that much on an office computer monitor, so this seems close enough for my needs.

Given some of the component issues, I'm a little bit concerned about whether I might have trouble in the future with the monitor. However, I'm comforted by Monoprice's warranty and my previous interactions with their support group.

Finally, it's damn hard to order one of these. They must be popular since they are always on backorder. Although I asked to be notified when they arrived, I heard nothing. Fortunately, I logged into the site frequently to check the status, and was able to order one when a shipment showed up, briefly.

How did MonoPrice miss this?
The stand is not removable. How does company that has made millions selling mounts mess this up?

Great monitor. No dead pixels, solidly built, well packed. Does work at 1080p for eyefinity, and also works with Xbox with a hdmi to dvi. Speakers are a great bonus. I'm not the biggest fan of the matte finish... However, at the price and monoprice support this was a fantastic purchase.

Beautiful Display!
Pros: Beautiful Display
Price

Cons: Base is kind of cheap but that's no reason NOT to get one.

I purchased 2 of these puppies! I must have gotten a good batch because I have no dead pixels, discoloration, etc. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I do recommend that those with MBP's to get a THUNDERBOLT to DUAL LINK DVI-D cable. Apple sales one for $99 but monoprice has one for much less. No issues with either. Looks freakin' GREAT in my recording studio.

Plan on buying 1 more once I figure out where I'm going to place it. hahaha!

Good monitor
Pros: Image, warranty, price

Cons: Stand

You can't get a better deal for the money with US warranty - 20% off coupon made the price very attractive.
Mine came with no dead pixels, works great with Gigabyte 670 video card. BF3 runs 40-50 FPS on max settings. The only thing I don't like is the stand. Vertical adjustment is very limited, I can't lift the monitor enough - looks like it is designed for shorter people. Will have to use a separate stand. Like somebody said the glass leg that goes into OEM stand is unremovable so I will have to live with that ugly thing sticking out.
Still like the monitor - good buy

Awesome screen, only one big flaw
Pros: Price
Screen
Size
Monoprice brand

Cons: Stand
Glass portion of stand unremovable(for wall mounting)

The screen itself looks amazing, Mine came with 3 dead pixels but you can't see them unless you're on a pixel hunt. After just talking to tech support, I've learned that the glass portion of the base is unremovable and will void the warranty if you do. This means that if you use a wall mount or desk arm there will be a glass piece sticking out of the bottom of the monitor. Disappointing, but I can live with it. The overall quality of the monitor is great and I look forward to what Monoprice offers in the future.

Amazing monitor for the price!
Pros: No dead or stuck pixels that I was able to see
Huge display for a very reasonable price
Reasonably aesthetically pleasing

Cons: Stand is extremely wobbly
Some back light bleed in the bottom center area of the screen on my particular monitor
Color seems slightly cool or bluish to me

First off, I'm not a professional photographer, graphic artist or gamer that needs extreme accuracy in my display, nor would I likely be able to discern one high-end screen from another. I simply wanted a huge screen for work and entertainment purposes. I just received the monitor today, so I cannot attest to the longevity or long-term quality of the product.

With the above disclaimers out of the way, all in all, I am satisfied with my purchase. As I mentioned in the "cons", my monitor has some back light bleed at the bottom center of the screen this really doesn't bother me much, since I use it primarily for office work and surfing the web. However, if you often have dark colors on your screen for whatever reason and/or use the monitor in a dark environment, I can see how this could be an annoyance. The colors also appear slightly cool or bluish to me, at least relative to the last monitor I had (Dell SP2309W, which had a TN panel). Otherwise, the colors on this monitor are very crisp and vivid and look great.

As far as monitor adjustments, there are very few. You are able to adjust the amount of backlight and the speaker volume and that’s it (I don’t plan on using the speakers, so I haven’t tried them). Also, you can adjust the tilt of the monitor. You cannot adjust the height.

One last thing that was slightly annoying was the power brick, which made a quiet, rapid clicking noise when first plugged in. After about an hour, it seems to have minimized to an almost inaudible hum, so I'll have to keep an "ear" on that to make sure it doesn't start clicking again before the warranty is up.

Despite the negative traits I noted above, overall the monitor is very nice, and I'm very glad I bought it. It works well for my purposes, which, admittedly, aren't that demanding.
