Great product!
|
Pros: Easy to install. Fits well and stays in place. Protects the edges of phone if dropped. Edges are slightly raised so offers a small amount of protection to the front and back of phone. Doesn't cover the front of the phone, which I like for phone use and viewing. Easy to remove for cleaning.
Cons: Dirt, lint, hair, ect can collect around the edges.
Great product, works exactly how I intended. Protects phone if I drop it, but doesn't interfere with function of the phone. Also, does not make the phone big and bulky like some other protective cases. I highly recommend this product. Please note I do have replacement insurance on my phone in case I crack the screen!

Great Bumper, be weary of cosmetic damage
|
Pros: It looks great on the iPhone 5, it is slightly raised (with rubber) to keep the front and back each from getting scratched on a flat surface. It has saved my phone at least a half dozen times now! It even fell into the street when I was getting out of my car (case took some scuffing) but it was still in good shape, and it protected the phone which is all I care about! Complements the colors of the Slate iPhone 5, but does not distract from it.
Cons: I have noticed that on the lightning connector side of the phone (when you take the case off) there are many (mostly small) spots where the slate coating has been flaking off and reveals the raw aluminum. I really don't like that, but I don't see any way around that. The problem is that the entire inside of the bumper has a some rubber on it, but this is not the case with the bottom section.
I am going to buy more of these, because I really like them, but it does appear that they are not as gentle on the inside as I would prefer.

For about $4, this is a great case.
|
Pros: 1. Looks good. 2. Fairly unobtrusive. 3. Fits well. 4. All buttons easily accessible
Cons: 1. Thinner section near charing port looks less durable. I anticipate this will end up breaking. I'm very careful when removing the case. I would be hesitant to buy this if you need to frequently remove the case for any reason (by frequently I mean on and off every couple of days I remove the case, maybe a couple times a month).
I've had the case for about 5 months. It does what I want. For $4, the pros outweigh the cons. I would definitely buy this again at this price. If the price went up, I would have to reconsider.

Great bumper
|
Pros: - Well built - Protects back, sides and front
Cons: - I wouldn't take it on and off too often as I fear the rubber part might get stretched out. Luckily, you don't have to.
Overall a very good bumper. It wraps around the sides to protect the back and front when laying on flat surface. My son has thrown it across the room several times without doing damage to my phone or the room.

Great bumper
|
Pros: Light, basic protection Allows easy access for charging w/o removing bumper Great price
Cons: Can tear if you remove it frequently
For what it is designed, this case is terrific. It is basic protection, and does not mask the phone's aesthetic. I am on my second bumper I had been removing it frequently (to use battery packs, etc.), and I found that if you stress the end where the cable/speaker access is it can tear. I remove from the other end now, and have no problems with build quality. At this price, I don't mind getting a new one every few months anyway.

Nice bumper, watch the thin parts
|
Pros: Mostly tight fit, cheap, fairly sleek look despite the very functional wraparound design.
Cons: Mine broke and became a little loose in the thinner parts around the lightning connector.
You may not like the monoprice logo.
Overall, I have a hard time complaining about this bumper as it's provided good protection with a relatively sleek look for my phone. But the thinner part with less hard plastic reinforcement down near the connector has broken, not all the way through but enough for it to be kinda loose and I think it will break all the way eventually. Might be something I did, so you might not have the problem. Much as I hate to waste dead dinosaur material, I could buy 2-3 of these things before hitting the price of the next competing bumper (which is probably not significantly nicer).

Great Product for a Great Price!!
|
Pros: Great Price and fits perfect!
Cons: Bottom loosens up a little, but has not broken!
I was looking for a bumper for my iPhone 5 and since Apple doesn't make one, they are hard to come by! I found another company that has one just like this but for 6 times the price!!!!! These were such a great price that I bought 3!!! So far I've had it on for about a Month and it's great. It's saved my phone a couple of times already and still looks good!!!

Pros: Slim, simple case. Manages to protect iPhone 5 against drop damage. Shows off front and back of phone.
Cons: Limited durability. I keep my phone in my pocket, and - after four months - the simple act of putting it in and pulling it out has cracked a bit of the plastic near the base it will break off soon.
I wanted a case that showed off the phone as much as possible. This does that well - almost all the front and back are exposed. I wanted a case that would protect the phone from simple fall damage. Again, this does it well! The phone normally strikes a corner when dropped (check out youtube for videos people have made), and this case has absorbed the handful of drops I've made. I wanted to have full access to controls and ports. Perfect, again. I found the stereo jack to be too tight for some headphones at first, but that went away within a week. I'm not a big fan of "MONOPRICE" being written out on the side, but that is no big deal. The only real downside is that one of the thin strips of plastic on the bottom has cracked a bit, probably from the phone sticking a bit to my pocket on removal. It will eventually tear the rubber bit as well, and I expect I'll need to replace in a month. Still, not bad longevity for the price. I'll likely buy the same thing again.

Great Product. High Quality.
|
Pros: + Very high quality (that's standard for Monoprice) + Looks great on the phone + Lightweight + Adds just enough protection where you can set your phone down, either face up or down, and not worry about scratches. + Added grip
Cons: - Bottom opening is not large enough for lightning connector to fit all the way through - Says 'Monoprice' in large, white letters on the side
This bumper is great. I would give it a 10 for my own personal review, but I want others to know the few minor flaws with it. The fact that it says Monoprice on it may bother some, I don't care at all. My phone is in my pocket most of the time and when its not, that is covered by my hand holding it. Not to mention, Monoprice is awesome anyway.
The only major flaw is the fact that the opening on te bottom for the speakers and the lightning connector is not large enough to allow the connector to fit completely in. Without modifying it a little, charging it spotty if its not in the perfect spot. However, there is an easy fix. Simply trim away *very* little bit of the plastic and it will fit in with no issue. I used a dremel but a razor blade or probably even a nail file would get the job done just as well.

Good for the money
|
Pros: Good fit buttons respond, cutouts perfectly aligned. The front and back are protected fairly well since the edges are raised.
Cons: None
I have been very satisfied with my black monoprice bumper for my iPhone 5. I don't like cases, so the bumper gives a moderate amount of protection without adding bulk. I had the Apple bumper for my 4S, and paid quite a bit more for it. For the price this is a good product.

Cons: Product was essentially useless as the hole for the lightning connector did not line up to let me recharge the phone without taking the bumper off.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
My apologies for the issues you encountered with the Bumper case. It should have supported the lightning connector with any issues. We had the opening adjusted to accommodate the lightning cable sometime ago. If you like to try a replacement I can always have that setup or if you no longer have need for the case I can setup a return, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely

Good, not great
|
Pros: Great price. Snug fit. Low-profile bezel.
Cons: Bottom opening is too small to accommodate Lightning-to-30 pin adapter. Can be forced, but rigid plastic cracks. Also, small as it is, phone is so thin that the bezel completely changed the feel of the phone in your hand.
See pros and cons. Good phone protector at great price, but has some limitations

Misleading Monoprice Administrator Comments
|
Pros: Sturdy construction. Great price.
Cons: Doesn't fit with Apple 30 Pin to Lightning Adapter. Thats a deal breaker.
First off, Monoprice.com is one of the best sites on the internet. Hands down. But I am sad to say this is my first negative review. How can they produce a case that doesn't fit the adapter? Monoprice should know better than anyone, that Apple is not allowing anyone to produce the new Lightning cable (or adapter) other than Apple. This leaves two ways to connect this device, the Lighting cable and/or the 30 pin to Lightning adapter. Further more, many people (including myself) have purchased multiple 30 pin cables from Monoprice in the past. The adapter is necessary to utilize those very same 30 pin cables.
A few other people reported this already. But one of the Monoprice administrators chimed in and said that the next batch of cases had addressed this issue. So I felt comfortable ordering it. Uh, ...... nope. Cant use the in my car and its too much of a pain to take it on and off.
The site shouldn't mention that issues have been addressed if they truly haven't.
Still love ya monoprice. Just bummed about this issue.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Mike,
Thank you for your review and my apologies for the issues you have experienced with PID 9772. Unfortunately I'm afraid this is true for many cases available. A shame this didn't work out for your needs though.. Now if you are dissatisfied, I can help setup an RMA for a return. If you would like me to proceed with the RMA, all I would need is the order # this case is under. Sorry again for the trouble and thanks in advance!

Pros: Keeps the phone looking slim and sleek. The bumper allows for easier holding and handling of the phone. Provides slide/slip resistance on the front and back of the case. The bumper fits securely and all the buttons are very responsive. Keeps the overall look of the iPhone 5.
Cons: None
Overall I am very happy with this case. It provides the protection that I want and need while keeping the phone looking slim. This case will provide mild to light moderate drops and bumps, so you should still be fairly careful with your phone. Also, you have to realize that this is just a bumper case there is nothing to protect the front and back of the phone. Works great for me. I would recommend this case to others.

Absolutely love it!
|
Pros: - Bumper case does exactly what it should - Raised edges lift the phone off the surface, protecting the back/front from scratches (if you don't have back/front screen protectors) - Bottom port access is big enough for AmazonBasics Lightning cable (which is huge compared to Apple's OEM cable) not sure how other users are reporting Apple's cable doesn't fit with this - Retains the phone's slender appearance, hardly any weight is added to the phone (huge plus for me)
Cons: - Volume buttons/sleep (wake) button is a little tough to press, at least, more difficult than it should be. Regardless of how hard you press, it seems as if you're not pressing it - The mute switch is a little too recessed from the case
Overall: Nothing else to say. The bumper case does its job. Third party cables fit nicely with this case. The edges are protected as they should be with bumper cases. The raised edges protect your phone from surface scratches (assuming you don't have screen protectors). Love it! Monoprice delivers again!

Does the job very well, considering the price.
|
Pros: Fits well and is very secure on the phone. Nice, simple protection without the bulk of a full case. Headphone jack is reasonably accessible, fits all but the largest "jumbo" style connectors. I've had the case on the phone for about 2.5 months, and it still looks nearly new and has worn extremely well so far.
Cons: Lightning connector does not plug in fully without physically separating the bottom of the case slightly - There is a plastic "recess" along the connector which prevents the plug from seating fully. I thought I had a bad lighting cable until I discovered this. Volume buttons are a little hard to press. Transition from the hard plastic sides to the rubber front and back is a little rough, almost sharp.
Overall, I am pleased with this case. It's fit is great, and was exactly what I was looking for.

Good value
|
Pros: Perfect fit, can charge fine with apple lightning cable.
Cons: Not as nice as original apple bumper case for the iphone 4. volume buttons are not as responsive as original apple case. when taking photos using volume up button, there is some slight shaking as I am trying to force the button down. monoprice logo on the bottom right side is ugly. monoprice is known for cheap stuff and not exactly a "brand name" that most people would like to advertise.
There are much better cases out there, but for the price, this is a good buy if you just want a simple bumper case.

It's ok, but a little thick
|
Pros: Lightweight, fits well, inexpensive, raised edge
Cons: Materials, feels cheap, button covers make them hard to press
The lightweight porous bumper material feels terrible in my hands - almost rough if you know what I mean. The hard plastic feels cheap and looks tacky. The raised edge on the top and bottom do a good job of protecting the phone, but adds a bit too much thickness and could be a little thinner and still do the job. I eventually went with a thinner full back case with a thin edge and rubberized texture coating.

Pros: very thin protects edges durable (so far)
Cons: partially blocks charging port (needs to be trimmed with blade) white monoprice branding on otherwise completely black phone
This is a very nice thin bumper for the iPhone 5. It is by far the most minimalistic case I have found. I have used it for a couple of months now and the durability seems to be pretty good as well. The soft rubber on the front and back has started to separate from the hard plastic on the sides of previous bumper cases that I have owned (for my last iPhone), but this has shown no sides of that kind of separation.
My only real complaint (why I didn't give it a 10) is that the plastic around the charging port doesn't allow the lightning cable to be plugged in completely. I woke up one morning with an almost dead battery. I ended up taking a razor blade and trimming the plastic so the plug fits in without a problem. This is somewhat of an inconvenience though. If you are willing to make that modification (and deal with the monoprice branding on the side), this is a great bumper case, especially for the price.

Does what I want
|
Pros: Protects the phone from surface scratches from being left or pulled across a surface which is what I w looking for without adding bulk. This bumper does all of it and I'm very pleased within so far.

Great bumper case
|
Pros: Protects the sides of the iPhone 5 from scraps, nicks, bumps and scratches without adding any bulk
Cons: None
After less then a week with my iPhone 5 with no case, I noticed it got a nice gash on the chamfered edge on the bottom. Not wanting to get any more blemishes I got this case. The case doesn't make the phone any larger and still shows off nice the aluminum back.

My favorite "case" for iPhone 5
|
Pros: Very small profile, absorbs shock, slides in & out of pocket easily, protects phone from falls, buttons / holes all well designed
Cons: I'd like the TPU part to be black instead of grey case wraps around front far enough that it pushes the side of my Monoprice screen protector and causes a "bubble"
This is a fantastic product that I would (and probably will) buy again. I want the smallest possible case that will protect my phone if it drops, and this does just that. I've dropped it twice on hard surfaces, and while the bumper is scuffed, my phone is just fine. Thanks for another great one, Monoprice.

Excellent bumper

Pros: tight fit, well constructed
Cons: Has a monoprice logo on the side, but it's barely noticeable.
excellent fit and protection for iPhone 5. just like the original iPhone 4 bumper, but seems to last longer. (the Apple iPhone 4 bumper tended to come apart after a year or so)

Pros: Protection, good fit, cheap, good access to earphone port.
Cons: A little difficult to access using special dock connector, noticed a slight yellowing around the edges of the bumper (iPhone is unchanged).
I used the white one and it is great! Has already saved me from a couple of medium-small drops.

Great Bumper cover... Just get it already :)
|
Pros: High quality Low profile Feels great in hand
Cons: None. No issues with charging cable either.
Great bumper cover. It's small enough so that it doesn't feel awkward on the iPhone 5. And big enough so keep a small space on the front or back when it's laying down. Very nice cover and very happy with it.

functionally same as Apple bumper
|
Pros: inexpensive, but same functionality as Apple bumper light protects back and front
Cons: Lightning connector slightly wider than the opening for the plug itself. Either have to spread the plastic or trim away some for the Lightning plug to sit fully in the phone
Great bumper. Have been using it ever since the iPhone 5 came out.
Only complain is that I had to trim the plastic where the wire plugs into the phone. The bumper in it's original form had to be spread out for the plug to be fully seated.
Would buy again, despite the need to trim.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Steve,
Sorry about the trouble with the bumper and having to modify it to accommodate the lightning connector. Our Product Management Team has actually addressed this issue and the newer versions of the same case have been corrected to accommodate the lighting connector as intended. So if you like I can issue an RMA for a replacement to be sent out to you if you like, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

similar to Apple's but has big Monoprice logo on it
|
Look is very similar to Apple's much more expensive bumper. Difference is there are rubber buttons instead of metal. The rubber surround is a harder material than Apple's, but that might be ok since my Apple bumper's rubber tore after a few months so might have been too soft.
One edge has Monoprice logo on it. I didn't realize it would have it until product arrived. I couldn't easily rub off the logo and it bothered me enough I bought another case somewhere else.

Incredible value for the price. I would HIGHLY recommend for those that need a good case. Price is incredible. Why pay a 400% markup when they are probably all made in the same factory anyway.

Good!
|
Pros: snug fit good quality hard plastic softer edges but not tacky (lint won't stick) Nice texture quality knockoff bumper
Cons: does not fit well with apple's 30pin adapter... you have to force the plug in and it does work but not ideal like the oem apple 4s one this one does not have metal buttons ... Still functions well with the plastic however..
I have had the iphone 4s original bumper case from apple I loved it. Since my upgrade to the 5 I've been hoping apple would put out a bumper for it... I saw this on monoprices web site and thought I would give it a try... I'm glad I did... Price is good compared to function and quality... Very happy with it and probably won't be purchasing a different case or original bumper if ever released...

Great bumper except for one significant issue
|
Pros: Very good price Made well
Cons: The hole on the bottom doesn't allow the lightning connector to fit snug and causes some issues. Several mornings I've woken up and found that my iPhone hadn't charged all night because the connection was too loose.
Except for one detail, this is a great product. Fits the phone well, protects the phone from small drops, aesthetically pleasing.

Hard to see how it could be better for this type of case
|
Pros: This is a very nice looking edge bumper case. There is a generous cutout on the bottom for the speakers, earphone jack, and lightening connector.
Easy to install and remove.
I like the subtle but readable 'Monoprice' logo located on one side. To me it says 'Yes, I paid top dollar for this phone, but I'm not an idiot who overpays for simple accessories'.
Cons: Because of the generous holes for the various controls and connectors this case will not keep dust and moisture out of your iPhone.
You can go to your Sprint/ATT/Verizon store and pay 4x the price for an iPhone bumper that isn't as well designed as this one.
Clearly Monoprice didn't just go to China and buy the cheapest knockoff they could find.
I can tell that even though this case is inexpensive, the Monoprice designer and project manager cared enough to put real effort into delivering a good looking quality product.
Recommended.

Good bumper protection with a minor flaw
|
Pros: Small profile, sleek, inexpensive
Cons: Sturdiness is questionable
Purchased this soon after I received my iphone 5, and have been mostly pleased. It's low profile look does not detract from the looks of the phone, and on the white iphone, the black bumper looks very nice. However, one minor flaw exists. The bottom of the bumper was made in a way the prevent the lightning adapter from plugging in, causing too much stress on the plastic, effectively causing it to crack. Only a matter of time before it splits completely, rendering it useless.
by Shoop I'm happy to say that after contacting Monoprice about the design flaw from the original design, they were happy to send me out a new one in its place that was designed better for the lightning cable. However, this will still not allow use of the lightning to 30-pin adapter, unless its the corded one. Just an FYI. very happy with this case, and it looks great! Thanks, Monoprice!!

Charge cutout does not allow use of 30pin adapter
|
Pros: Great feel and fit!
Cons: Cut out does not allow the 30pin to Lightning adapter from Apple to work. It would be great if it was redesigned to fix this.
Overall exactly what I want and for a great price, just wish it would be redesigned again to allow for the adapter.

Nice Apple bumper clone
|
Pros: enhances grip near perfect clone of the Apple bumper value
Cons: buttons are not metallic fit is a tiny, tiny bit loose
From all the cases I tried, I ended up using this bumper it offers good grip, and the least interference with the thin profile of the phone itself. Of course, I'm sacrificing protection, but I didn't see the point of getting a monster case for such a thin phone. The fit is near-perfect, but if you tug at it on a corner, the bumper can come a bit loose that being said, it would never come undoing during normal handling, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Even at $4 I was a little dissapointed
|
Pros: It's cheap and does offer decent bumper protection.
Cons: The cutout at the bottom isn't accurate, and overall quality is not great.
I've had mine for a few weeks. Because the cutout on the bottom requires you to stretch the opening slightly, mine actually cracked along the thin plastic on the bottom. For the price, I think you probably get what you pay for with this one.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Chris,
My apologies about the issues with the cut out on the button of the case and not accurately supporting the new lightning connection. We have since corrected this issue so the case comfortably supports the connector now with out any modifications. If you like I can issue an RMA for a replacement to be sent out to you, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Great product
|
Pros: good protection, snug fit, looks good, easy to press buttons, not bulky like other cases
Cons: Monoprice logo
I've been extremely happy with this bumper. It is solid and well designed. The black bumper complements the black iPhone well - it is sleek and still shows of the phone's thinness. The buttons are easy to push. I have had no problems pugging in the Lightning connector even though there is as little bit of plastic between the phone and connector. Highly recommended. In my mind, it is the best case at any price.

excellent, already paid for itself
|
Pros: excellent fit (except one thing, see con) front and back lip of the case protect the aluminium back and front screen protects the phone very well from drops
Cons: the opening for the lightning connector is not large enough. with some manipulation it will fit. A more permanent solution can be obtained with an x-acto knife (only reason for deduction of a star)
excellent protection in a minimalist package. Dropped the phone from approx. 4.5 feet, direct hit onto concrete, one bounce after hitting the concrete, struck another corner, and then fell on it's side. not a scratch on the actual phone. the case has two scuff marks. this case has already paid for itself many times over.

OK for the price
|
Pros: Fits well, seems well made.
Good value.
Cons: The volume up/dn buttons are small and hard to push
The soft rubber on this case is not as grippy
The port on the Lightning port on the bottom is too small
The Monoprice logo on the side is irritating when you have a black case on a black phone (that is, no other distinguishing marks). I'll be polishing that logo off.
The volume up/dn buttons are small and hard to push. If you used the iPhone 4 bumper sold by Apple you'll know how positive those buttons should feel. That said, for the price I am satisfied.
Also if you're coming from the Apple bumper you'll find the soft rubber on this case is not as grippy. The Apple bumper gave a bit of non-slip texture to the phone which was nice when putting the phone down temporarily somewere that wasn't totally flat. The Monoprice bumper, while better than using no bumper
As others noted the port on the bottom is too small for a positive connection. I'll have to take a small file to it and enlarge the slot slightly. This is my first day using the case and I've had to reconnect the plug 6 or 7 times already.

Best cheap iPhone 5 case I've used
|
I've used a few cheap iPhone 5 cases (all bumper-style designs) and this is the best one I've used so far (and incidentally, also the cheapest). It is a good, tight fit, the volume up and down keys work really well and have good feedback (unlike other cases) and the lock button is easier to activate than other cheap cases I've used. Also, the cutout at the bottom for the headphone and USB connector are sculpted a bit better than other cases I've used. It's very slim, which is what I want in a case (which is why I prefer bumper-style cases).
Two thumbs up for Monoprice, as always!

Lightning port too small
|
Pros: Fits, protects from minor catastrophes.
Cons: Lightning port too small! It's too narrow and doesn't allow the cable to plug all the way in. Like Chrizfm said, you have to pull apart the rubber sides, or take the case off. Not very convenient.
I agree with Chrizfm. The hole for the lightning cable is too small. Didn't realize until I woke up and took the phone with me and saw the battery was low instead of full.

Great bumper case
|
Pros: Good protection, great price, exceptional service
Cons: Fit and finish could be a little better
I thought about keeping my iPhone 5 bare, but my toddler quickly convinced me otherwise. I wanted to let the industrial design of the new phone shine through, though. This bumper accomplishes both tasks - protection without obscuring the design - very well. It's a simple solution to a problem others have made extremely complex. There are a couple of extra little rubber and plastic tags along the cut edges, but a razor took care of those very quickly.

High Quality
|
Pros: Great fit, high quality finish. Sleep/volume buttons work and feel nice.
Cons: Button part of bumper has large opening to accommodate speakers, headphone jack and lightning port and and such borders are thinner/weaker so I'm sure this is the part of the bumper that will be the first to be stretched and give out. Definitely not monoprice's fault, just a design negative with the phone.

iPhone 5 Bumper The best I have found

Pros: Fits Great! Feels like your carrying the phone naked People really get to see how thin and light the phone is Case easy to get on and won't fall off covered all the way around the phone on both sides
Cons: Minor - Monoprice Logo. Don't get me wrong, I love monoprice and have shopped for years but not big on my case saying "Monoprice" (I saved big money) on the side.
I bought 5 cases before my iphones arrived, I like this the best. For $5 I get the protection I want, and yet you can feel how thin and how light your iphone 5 really is. I have two of these cases, and the fit and finish are great. I didn't get first batch, missed it by minutes, but mine don't have lighting connector issue at all. I am not sure if they changed the design, but my charger cord fits without issue, in both phones. I am very happy!
by CJ Daniel Update: Sorry my lighting port adapter hole is not big enough either, I just never noticed it because our two phones charge fine with it only partially plugged in. It wasn't til I got to work and my cord would be very touchy if I moved it. So yes at work I slightly pry the bottom apart, I will dremel it soon.

Ok
|
Pros: Looks nice, great protection, Slim
Cons: Lightning port cutout is too small
The case looks great, shiny, nice material. BUT, the bottom cutout for the charger (lighting port cutout) is too small. When you try to plug it in, it doesn't go in all the way. In order for it to charge you either have to take the case out which is a hassle, or you have to stretch the bottom outward and then push it in (which can be done because luckily the material is kinda soft) yet this is annoying and looks funny while charging. One prefers to just quickly plug and go, rather than having to stretch it out just so it can fit.

Really nice simple case
|
Pros: Nice simple case. Gives the phone a bit of an edge to grip onto. I really like this bumper style. It's two toned PC TPU finish actually match my black iPhone really well and they complement each other.
Cons: Wouldn't say it detracts from the phone at all.
Cheap, Simple, Elegant and Effective. What more could I ask. Having no issues using any of the external buttons or toggles.

Good Fit, Needs Minor Redesign
|
Pros: Excellent fit
Cons: Lock button is a little tough to push Cut out for Lightning connector needs to be widened slightly to allow for plug to fit snuggly. As is, the cord does not make a perfect connection.

Good bumper at unbelievable low cost
|
Pros: Low cost and fit well to iPhone 5. All openings are at right size that makes connecting accessories function well.
Cons: A bit too plastic looking, but not a big deal.
I like this products. It's design and build quality seems way beyond its low cost. Good job, Monoprice.

Great bumper
|
Pros: Slim. Tight fit. Good cutouts.
Cons: Hard to take off.
If you're a bumper fan, you eill like this inexpensive bumper for the iPhone 5. All you need is a back-skin and this bumper and you'll have protection and no bulk.

Excellent case
|
Pros: Snug, secure fit. Made of a flexible, rubbery plastic that's sturdy, not squishy. Provides great tactile grip for an otherwise nude phone (the bumper has a glossy edge with a rubbery, raised top face and rear face, giving sufficient front or back face-down protection). Very clean design, all relevant ports exposed and no problems with attaching lightning cable or headphones. Adds negligible weight to phone.
Cons: A little bit tough to press the lock button through the bumper, but definitely functional. Monoprice logo emblazoned along the side is a slight tacky, but a minor quibble.
Would buy this case again in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone with a black phone. The price, even with shipping included, is an unbeatable value. I have yet to apply a clear shield/skin across my phone, so I can't say how the bumper would sit on top of that, but I can tell right now that this bumper is so snug that there may be some bubbling or peeling when the skin competes for space. Either way, very happy with this bumper.

Nice enough
|
Pros: Price, Slim design, fit, all ports accessible.
Cons: Rubber not sticky, a tad difficult to get on and off quickly.
Great little bumper that fits really snug. In comparison for the Apple brand bumper I had for my iPhone 4, this one has a smaller lip on the front and back which I like. It still provides enough of a lip to set the phone down on its front and not worry. The rubber is less 'sticky' than the Apple one also. This is good for getting out of ones pocket. TLDR: Good for the money.

Good
|
Pros: I got it days before the iphone was even released, giving me peace of mind on day one Extremlely thin. Several people thought it was part of the design of the phone Just enough lift on front and back to keep it off the table
Cons: Fit almost too snug. Feels like a lot of force to get it on and off. Volume buttons are small and very hard to push Power button very spongy Would never be compatible with a rear decal or screen protector
I want to love this case really badly. It looks great, it's very slim, it's sharper looking than the ebay special I have on there now, but it makes using the phone just too difficult.
All the problems stem from the "rubber" material used as the soft part of the case.
The TPU/rubber substrate is too hard, which leads to several problems: 1. The volume and power buttons are a molded part of this rubber, and because it is not flexible enough, they are difficult to press, even when the case is not on the phone. They feel like they're attached too much to the hard plastic frame which isn't allowing them to press in enough. 2. The rims around the edge of the screen and back are not very flexible, which makes it very tough to put the case on. I felt like I was going to scratch the sides of the phone with the case. 3. Because those edge rubber gaskets are so stiff and fit so tight, they would peel any decal or screen protector right off when you put the case on.
So I bought a generic black and clear bumper for $5 shipped. Here's how they compare: + generic had softer rubber substrate + generic installed easier + Monoprice seemed a little more secure + Monoprice cutouts were better + Monoprice frame is thinner overall - generic so thick the silent switch is tough to flip + generic has metal buttons mounted on a soft rubber membrane, looks 100x classier + generic's buttons communicate the phone's "clicky" feel - generic's rubber is not perfectly trimmed and feels like little edges need to be trimmed - generic's transparent plastic is super ugly. I found one in all black and ordered it
Overall I'm sticking with the generic one until someone provides an Apple-quality bumper case like for the 4/4S.
by Monoprice Administrator Hi Ryan,
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback and my apologies things didn't work out with the case for you. If you like and no longer have a real need for it I can issue an RMA for a return, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your feedback.
Sincerely

Good, only minor issues
|
Pros: Price, snug fit
Cons: Power On/Off button seems a little less responsive while in case.
No one else has mentioned this so thought I'd mention that it seems my power on/off button is a little less responsive with this case. I seem to have to push much harder like there is a bit of a gap between the case and button itself.
I wish the volume buttons would be more like the Apple bumpers but thats what you get for less than $5.

Great Value
|
Pros: Fits perfectly. All the cutouts are sized properly and all of the ports are accessible. The button covers allow the buttons to work properly.
Cons: Not a huge con, but the soft-touch part would give you more grip if it was a little more "rubbery"
Seems like an excellent value.
This bumper for the iPhone 5 fits perfectly and the button covers are plastic instead of that faux-metal that some manufacturers use. They seem like they're made so that they won't fall out or come loose, but only time will tell. I tried some low-cost bumpers from other sources for my iPhone 4 and the button covers they used fell off or didn't allow the buttons to function properly.
All of the ports and cutouts are right, the charge cable clicks snugly into the port. The cutout around the headphone jack has a little more clearance than the bumpers for the iPhone 4 did, so even if the headphone plug isn't super slender it should still go in okay.
The only improvement I would hope make is that the outer edges of the bumper aren't as "rubbery" as the OEM bumper, it still gives a nice grip in your hand, especially compared to the bare aluminum...but if you're laying it on a tilted surface I'm not sure it's "grippy" enough to keep it form sliding down.

Too tight around the lightning plug.
|
Pros: Great fit, style
Cons: too tight around the lightning plug.
I have to amend my earlier glowing review. Upon further inspection, I have to agree with a previous reviewer that it is a little too tight around the lightning connector. It doesn't want to plug in all the way. As the other poster said, you can shave it down with a sharp knife, but I think they should change the mold just a hair to accomodate the plug.

Great case
|
Pros: fits great, style
This case fits the Iphone 5 perfectly. It reminds me a lot of the original Apple bumper I had on the Iphone 4. The colors on the black one are a perfect match for the black Iphone 5.

Perfect design. Perfect price.
|
Pros: Slim Doesn't compromise the weight or feel.
Cons: Umm...
Bought 2. One for iffy and me. This case is perfect. The cut outs are perfect. The design is beautiful. Looks seamless on the slate. Now all I need is invisible shield and I'm set. We couldn't be happier. The design is rubber at bottom and top. The side is a hard plastic. Every port and button is protected and Ashly accessible. Monoprice did a better job with this case as far as ports are concerned. No complaints.

Good, but has one big flaw
|
Pros: Nice looking, doesn't add much the the phone's width / height, good protection for a bumper.
Cons: Case gets on the way of the lightening cable.
With the new iPhone having pretty much only aluminum on the back I wonder if I'll ever buy an actual case. For now, this bumper does what it is supposed to do - protect the phone without being bulky. I don't give it 10 because there is one flaw (at least mine has this issue): the case gets on the way of the lightening connector and I have to kind of pull the bumper back so I can connect the cable all the way through. Design flaw, but still decent.

Perfect Fit
|
Pros: Snug fit, doesn't seem like it will tear, price.
Cons: Monoprice name printed on side...no biggie, though.
This is a snug fit, much better than the Apple Iphone 4 bumper that was loose. It also does not seem like it will tear on the sides like the Apple one did.
