Another hit from Monoprice
|
I've been using this for a while, and it has worked wonderfully. Right now, it powers an old receiver that has a 600watt power supply, PS3, Apple TV, HDMI switchbox, laptop, plasma TV, and I can say that I have no electrical noise, and feel safe behind it. Plenty of connections for me, so really it has worked great. I even like the green LED display as it doesn't light up the room like some blue LED's tend to. It would have been nice to have added a switch on the back to manually select which outlets are switchable, but that is my only gripe.

Pros: Very solid construction. Easy hookup. Very good addition to my home entertainment center. Everything is pretty much straightforward when it comes to hooking up your equipment. Outlets are clearly marked.
Cons: Nothing so far. I did not read the instructions carefully, the on/off button turns on the switched outlets. Its make in China. I dont have faith in Chinese make electronics. (sorry)
Arrived like they said the next day. I think it will compare if not better than the Monster 1650 or the other switched outlet kinds they will offer. But when I hooked it up, WOW!! What a difference!! My 8 year old Panasonic HDTV had more vibrant colors right off the bat! And its only a 720P! My Panasonic Blue Ray brought out more colors in old recorded movies than ever before. The sound from my Onkyo receiver is crisp and solid. This is worth the $90 well spent!!

It Works!
|
Pros: I needed 7 outlets for Receiver, TV, Xbox, Blu-Ray, DVD, Apple TV, cassette and unit has 8 outlets. Alarm has not flashed yet (input voltage above 130 Volts or below 85 volts).
Cons: Made a high pitched noise when I first plugged it in, but after a little burn in (by the end of the day) it was silent and has remained silent for the last month
For the Knowledge Base: Starting at the end where the power cable exits, the white text printed on the top of the is: Coaxial (Cable TV HD Satellite) in/out in/out Data/Network in/out High Current Filter 1 (HD Panel, AV Receiver, Powered Subwoofer) ALWAYS ON ALWAYS ON Analog Filter 2 (DVR Cable/Satellite, AF/FM Tuner, Turntable) ALWAYS ON ALWAYS ON HD Video Filter 3 (Digital Set-top Box, Game Controller, Computer) SWITCHED SWITCHED HD Digital Filter 4 (Blu-Ray/DVD Player, Digital Media Player, iPod Dock/Apple TV) SWITCHED SWITCHED
On the front of the unit, the text under the 4 green LEDs is: Ground OK, Alarm, Power On, Protection On

Pros: Nice Snug Plugs, Heavy Duty Construction, LED's not too bright.
Cons: Only Con is I wish the power cord was on the other side.
Works exactly as it should, I like that the LED lights aren't too bright like other models I have looked at. It's very well constructed and is a great addition to my home theater.

great deal!
|
Pros: by its looks, it doesn't look like under $100. for me, it look like one of those overpriced monster power conditioners.
Cons: nothing.
thank you monoprice for great deals like this. now, an average guy like me makes home theater building affordable.

Outlet Orientation Less Functional
|
Pros: I don't feel that the tightness of the outlets is a negative as others have suggested. A firm connection that won't come loose is a plus in my opinion. The level of protection is more than adequate for a home theater setup.
Cons: My complaint is that the outlets would be much more functional if they weren't using standard duplex recepticles (like those you put in a wall plate in your home). They should be verticle. These days many components are powered with "bricks" or low voltage transformers. This configuration is useless unless you want to put "pigtails" between the bricks and the conditioner or connect a secondary strip for the bricks. That sort of misses the point of it's intended purpose. This may seem like nit picking but it's buzz kill to me.
This is a very well made unit. The case, hardware, fit and finish are quality. Still my Cons will not allow the purchase.

Pros: Cheap clean looking
Cons: Plugs were too tight no rack kit or ears to mount it Power wire exits on the right...(most high end electonics exit on the left)
Overall I can’t complain. Had to plug and unplug a device multiple times to loosen up the outlets on the back...it wouldn’t let you seat them fully. Once loosened it was fine.
Really wish there was a mounting kit to put this in a rack. Using all Middle Atlantic shelves so this looks a bit out of place.
Also from a functional note...exit the power on the left like most modern AV electronics. Reason I Bring this up is that most of us want to keep the power routed the same as the rest of our devices and to keep them separate from our other audio wires. I run my power down the left side speakers, HDMI, Cat6 down the right.

Great unit! A must buy!
|
Pros: The price 3500 Joule rating Nice solid construction
Cons: Not a thing!!!
I received the unit well packaged and on time. The first time taking it out of the box, my first thought was that it seemed like heavy duty unit and was very well made due to its weight. I am powering my Samsung 40" flat screen, Xbox 360, Sony AV 5.1 receiver, and Sony Blu ray player with this product. I did not have any issue with plugging in any one of my devices like the other reviewers stated. They all plugged in nice and tight. As for the looks of this unit, I am very very pleased. This unit is made mostly of metal, even the silver plate and black frame in front is metal not plastic. It is a very nice touch to my theater/game room. The bright green l.e.d. digital read out display looks sharp and crisp. I love the fact that it has four switchable outlets. My twin brother has the HD IR 2550 by Monster and he paid just over $300. He was very pleased when he saw Mono Prices version. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a surge protector at a lower price compared to Monster and Furman . It's been doing it's job great for the last 3 weeks so far and performs just like the other high end ones will. -Thank you MONO PRICE!!! =)

seems ok
|
Pros: Seems well made, looks decent.
Cons: Depth of unit is so small (about 8") that you can't stack any components on top of it. It would be better if they had made the case a standard size, even if it was just full of empty space.
I couldn't plug my gear into some of the plugs on back of the unit due to the internal metal connectors being too tight. Instead I had to "loosen up" the plugs by plugging in a lamp over and over. Now everything plugs in okay, but it makes the unit feel cheap.
Not all of the plugs on the back are switched, only some. So I still have to unplug the power conditioner if I want things truly turned off. I understand the unit was designed this way, but it would work better for me if it was the other way.
Hard to tell how much good the unit is really doing my components in terms of power conditioning.
Power conditioners are hard to objectively rate. This unit seems well made and goes about it's job without fanfare, but I can't say for sure that my music really sounds better or anything. I guess I just felt like buying a fancy power strip.

Good but not great
|
Pros: Seems solid and fairly priced
Cons: Quality control might be lacking
I was pleased with the overall appearance and packing of the unit. Unfortunately, I had a real problem getting a few of the outlets to accept the polarized plugs of my A/V equipment. I had to remove the unit from my rack and fiddle with 3 of the outlets before I could get the plugs to seat. It was as if the internal prongs were just out of position. Now that I have everything connected, it appears to work as advertised

Pros: I was happy happy with the shipping and delivery. It arrived on time and was well packed. I have a larger Power center from another maker and this power center is quite hefty for it size. Set up is simply plug and play and it was in operation within minutes. It is being used to protect my HT system, which consists of two receivers, 51 inch 3D plasma and blu-ray player, along with the cable box. I feel much better with this power center as part of my setup. And the price is nice. Thanks Monoprice.
Cons: No Cons

work just a good as monster 2500
|
Pros: great product, quality and feel is just as good as any Furman or Monster
Cons: rack ears option?
it feels like a $150 unit.. and works great. I have owned Monster and Furman in the past.. and this thing does the job for a mid level studio or home theater (I have both)

So far so good
|
Well I purchased this after many months of reviewing power centers and seeing some of the steep prices. I've had this about a week now and everything seems to be working wonderful. My set up sounds cleaner and helped me eliminate the surge protectors I was using.
