Good pack, just not for everyday use.
|
Pros: Nearly the same design as a Swiss Gear pack. Great configuration of pockets.
Cons: Not nearly the quality of a Swiss Gear pack. Shoulder straps do wear out pretty quickly.
Owned about 6 months. I am a full-time student as well as work full-time. I carry this pack with me to school and work. I used the larger pocket for my books, then the next for my Stethoscope and work related material, and the next for pens, voice recorder, ID's, thumb drive, etc. The small pouch near the top is my man purse. I just noticed after 6 months of being carried everywhere and tossed into my car several times a day that the webbed material on the shoulder straps are starting to fray. Which wouldn't be too big a deal except that directly under the webbing is the foam. I can see it falling apart quickly from here. I was hoping that this pack would get my through Nursing school that I start in the fall. Looks like i will need to go ahead and buy the Swiss Gear pack after all. Probably would be a great pack, just not for someone that needs to use it everyday.

Question on the recent negative
|
Pros: Pay no attention to my 5 rating as I have not purchased this product. I was considering it but I noticed the numerous complaints about the weak straps. I have also noticed that Monoprice admin's have readily issued RMA's, and kudo's to them for good customer service.
My question is: have the strap issues been resolved on the items currently for sale? I don't want to order it, then have to send it back.

We do get frequent new batches of items, so we do improve upon the product. Unfortunately I cannot specifically say if the strap issues have been resolved on the batch you will be getting. We did file these issues accordingly and have forwarded the issues.

Low quality bag
|
Pros: Good space for laptop
lots of storage and good card and supply options in the front.
I also like the small compartment on top for quick access to small items.
Cons: seams fall apart.
Laptop velcro strap is too big. I leave it undone and the hook side is sticking and ruining the mesh opposite of it.
First, let me say that I am a HUGE Monoprice fan. I am usually thrilled with the products I get as well as the deal I get them for. This is not one of those products. It holds my Dell laptop easily in its compartment, but the velcro strap to secure it is meant to hold a 6 inch thick laptop in place and is usually in the way. This lets the hook side of the velcro touch the mesh compartment across from it and start to destroy it. I got mine and told my coworkers about it and a few grabbed them during the back to school sales. I watched my coworkers units start to fall apart right away. The stitching will come loose at any given point and then it frays and opens up quickly. Mine started doing it a little later, but now its to the point I don't want to trust carrying it across the country with me. I don't overstuff it by any means, but I do have a number of different cables to carry with my PC, papers, small tablet and maybe a reading book.
I suggest staying away from this one and getting one that has better reviews and a proven track record. I am trying a High Sierra or North Face next.

POOR QUALITY, already broke with one month of use!!!!!!!!

Pros: Fair price, but POOR QUALITY.
Cons: POOR QUALITY in the material, with one month of use the backpack broke off one of the main stitching. The stitching in the top of the backpack broke off with just one month while carrying low weight materials 2 books, one computer, and an ipad.
I honestly DO NOT recommend this product due to poor material and workmanship.

Backpack - Starps Critical

Pros: 17-inch Premium Laptop Backpack:
- Great space
- Great sections
Cons: 17-inch Premium Laptop Backpack:
- strap material poor which is surprising since other materials are quality
- strap split and seperated
- poor plastic foam material fellout from ripping fabric
I purchased this bag in late April 2012 as a backup to my other bag. I used it on a few business trip flying around the country. Initially liked it so much that it became my everyday bag, well, within a few months, a string here and a string there started to fray and befor you know it, left strap is just a few threads supporting all of your valuables inside.
All the best quality materials in the body of the backpack are deminished with the poorest of quality of strap material. Since you are wanting a backpack you need the strap, but after it is frayed and gone, you are stuck with using the handle on the top. The top handle is strong and of good material but now this is a hand bag not a backpack.
If the critical straps were of the same quality material as the rest of the bag, my rating could have been a 9 or even a 10.

Backpack blues
|
Pros: Large with plenty of pockets and good padding for the back.
Cons: Backpack straps are fraying.
Unfortunately, the strap has started to come apart up near the top and after only a few months. Like so many other products and particularly with backpacks, it is only as good as its weakest link. Monoprice is replacing it under warranty, but I expect the same to happen again as others have written in reviews with the exact same problem. If I could I would prefer to have the money refunded. Otherwise, great company with quality products at value prices. Monoprice can't be perfect all the time even if they blew it with this back pack.

Quality at an affordable price
|
Pros: Weight, construction, compartments, padding and QUALITY!!!

I would highly recommend this backpack for hauling your tech gear! I use a 15.5" MacBook Pro, iPad, and haul a bunch of gear and adaptors with this bag. I have zero complaints and and cannot find an issue with this bag period. I am a hugh fan of Monoprice and purchase their products for myself as well as for the district I work at. My only suggestion would be to include cool Monoprice stickers with each order. I would proudly display this next to my ThinkGeek stick on my truck :)

Great Deal
|
Pros: I have had the backpack for about a month and think it is great. So far no problems, it doesn't show any wear and has served me well. I like that the pouch for the computer is in the middle of the bag, not right along the back so it is well protected.

Beautiful, Functional, Falls Apart
|

Cons: Started falling apart way too quickly
I picked this up in August of last year and very quickly retired my computer bag and was carrying my laptop and other work things to and from work in this backpack. It has a lot of pockets, including a great small pocket at the top near the handle that works great for my mouse, a padded pocket that holds my laptop and plenty of space for business cards, books, binders and the like. However, the stitching in the left strap has started falling apart near the top, and it is now very frayed and unprofessional looking, and I do not expect it to hold up for much longer, despite being only six months old.
This has gone from being a product I was very pleasantly surprised with the functionality and feel of, to a product that I am highly disappointed in based on how very quickly it started falling apart.

Poor Quality

Pros: Tons of clever pockets and zippers
Cons: Backpack starts falling apart in weeks
If this backpack didn't fall apart - it would be the best laptop backpack ever. But alas...
Two of my zippers stopped zipping entirely
The area above the headphone pocket has completely torn open
And the top of the back straps has torn into pieces exposing the inner padding (on one side - the side I initially swing it onto my back).
Keep in mind that I only use this backpack twice a week and I am not mean to it...
I LOVE monoprice, but I am so utterly disappointed with the quality of this backpack.

Not bad for the price
|
Pros: Lots of storage. Nicely fits a large laptop right next to your back. Zippers are smooth.
Cons: Would be nice to have a few more smaller pockets inside the larger ones. Having 2 hand carry handles is not really necessary and the one integrated into the shoulder straps can be a bit uncomfortable when wearing on your back.
The shoulder straps are coming apart and I don't give them much life left. At this point I don't know how long they will last but I'm disappointed in the durability of the straps.

OK backpack for the price

Thought I'd try this backpack, since I like everything else I've purchased from monoprice. I was disappointed with the construction of the shoulder straps. I frequently carry 2 laptops or more and I usually wear the pack over one shoulder, so it puts a lot of stress on one strap. The strap started to shread afte about 3 weeks. I've had other packs that have not had this problem.

Shoulder straps are cheaply made
|
Pros: Great bag for the price, lots of pockets. Lots of room
Cons: Shoulder strap material rips and looks poorly constructed.
Bought the bag and 2 weeks later the shoulder strap material ripped. It is now ripped in 2 spots on the same strap and I can see the foam insert. I was really hoping for a higher quality product from MonoPrice as that's USUALLY what I receive when I purchase items from here. A little disappointed in this one.

Pros: spacious, comfortable to wear, can hold 2 laptops, plenty of pockets
Cons: some nooks not as large as the picture suggests, ie: the one with the iPhone blank in it, which must be a mockup of a mini iPhone
Great backpack for computers. There is also plenty of room for books, or cables, or a clipboard, or another laptop, etc...
Comparable to backpacks that sell for twice as much.

Sturdy and Many Pockets
|
Pros: Has many compartments and great material, water-restitant. The pockets are deep and safely hold items and a good laptop compartment.
Cons: The small pocket, in which one would place keys and other important items, is behind the holding strap which attaches to rolling luggage and is inconvenient. Though most people probably won't use it in this capacity, it still is something that should've been considered.
Other backpacks have pouches where the straps fold up into recesses and out of the way. I still really like this backpack as an alternative to a luggage tote, as it can be carried or strapped on to a roller-board luggage. The tough material will make sure it lasts for a long time and stand up to the travel rigors of an international flight crew member.

|
Pros: Competitive price, large enough for a big-screen laptop, the laptop feel quite secure in the case.
Cons: A little concerned about the quality of the reinforcement of the handle. Time will tell.
This has been a good buy. The product is well built. It is big enough that one can pack their laptop and an overnight change of clothes in the same bag.

Cons: Rigid bottom makes it look a tad bulky even if nothing is in it.
While hefty, the cable handle isn't comfortable to lift by.
I bought this backpack while it was on sale and I don't regret it. There is plenty of space inside and it is generously padded. Lot's of cool pockets to put stuff in, and it just has a nice look. I am currently using it for school and it comfortably carries notebooks and textbooks. Highly recommend.

Made very touch and feels good on ur back. Don't know how MP does it to sell it at the price they do, but pick one up!
Cons: Honestly, I don't see any con's as of yet, will update if I do.

Great Backpack

Pros: Stores laptop nicely. Lots of pockets. Has held up well for 2.5 months.
Cons: None that I have discovered.
Works great to keep the laptop secure. Four other compartments for the rest of your stuff. One is specifically for an MP3 player, and one for small stuff and writing implements. Best feature is the price! Can't beat it. Similar backpacks go for 2-3 times the price. No seams have split or zippers fallen apart, so I'll call it "durable". However I'm a pretty light user, just haul the laptop in and out of work. Not a roadwarrior or student, so I can't really attest to its ultimate toughness.

Pros: Not a kids back pack?????. Come on cable handle, sturdy material, generous comfortable straps! I very much disagree that this is some kids back pack. You could buy a lot worse for a lot more money!
Cons: Only problem is, you don't own one!
Best Bag ever. I use the $^@ out of this bag, throw it, drag it around, and dump into my trunk at work, and not a scratch. The compartments are perfect and just what I need. i carry my Xoom tablet and my 17" laptop with out a problem. Use the front pouches for my flash drives, and Cell. Others have written that you can't fit an iPhone, but that's simply not true.

Pros: This bag is sturdy and well padded. Many compartments for your laptop and associated gear. Just the right size too. There are pockets for pens/notebooks, another area which I use for chargers, a 3rd area for the actual laptop, and some smaller pockets for any minor doodads you'd like to bring along. It feels very safe, though I would still avoid dropping it, I at least feel it will offer some protection if I ever do drop my bag.
Cons: The pocket dedicated to the laptop is a little too small for my msi gt780r laptop. I cannot use the strap to tie the laptop in but rather just put the laptop into the main part of the compartment

Great replacement for Swiss Gear Synergy Backpack
|
Pros: Very similar to Swiss Gear Synergy for a lot less. The strap between the shoulder straps is padded unlike in the Synergy. I do use this a lot.
Cons: I miss the small front pocket of the Synergy.
There is a buckle between the shoulder strap of the Synergy that is handy but not on this model.
The handle is hard plastic unlike the padded Synergy handle but I rarely use the handle.

Great Design/Price but Bag Fell Apart.
|
Pros: I love the price & the design of this bag. It has so many different compartments, it can hold everything I bring on the road with me + more.
Cons: Cheap materials on shoulder straps.
The material on the shoulder strap ripped 1 week into having the bag. I sat the bag on an airplane floor under the sat infront of me & somehow the material shredded & is now ripped open. I had to put tape on it (which is embarrasing). The bag will be rendered useless pretty soon, which sucks because I really do like the bag. Also, on of the plastic strap holders recently just broke & is starting to poke me which is annoying.

Mono Price Premium Laptop Backpack

Pros: It's a great bag! For the price you can't beat it! Already travelled with it and I am sure the bag should give years of service. Extra strong top handle which is a plus. Plenty of pockets and storage. Lap top easy to remove for airport security. I have spent over $100.00 for a computer back pack and in many ways this is better than the expensive backpack.
Cons: The zippers could be a little stronger. Some of the pockets could be a little larger.

Great value, Great product
|
Pros: Many compartments, but not so many that the compartments are too small. I carry a 17" MacBook Pro and and iPad, many accessories, and cables and adapters and still have room for some books and files. It is lightweight but the sturdies backpack I've ever owned. There is ample padding at the bottom and back.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
I highly recommend the backpack and very highly recommend purchasing from Monoprice. Prices are fair and service is great.

Pros: The bag seems well built structurally and I expect it to last. It will make a fine school backpack for my kids.
Cons: The pouches that were shown in the pictures on the website holding an iPhone and credit cards are actually about 1/2 inch to narrow to put a credit card in, the pouch in the middle is maybe big enough to hold a small pack of Wrigley's stick gum.
While the bag seems well built structurally and I expect it to last, the small items storage compartments in the front section are all unusable for what they were intended. The pouches that were shown in the pictures on the website holding an iPhone and credit cards are actually about 1/2 inch to narrow to put a credit card in, the pouch in the middle is maybe big enough to hold a small pack of Wrigley's stick gum. So it will go to one of my kids for their school stuff and I will have to find something else to take with me as I travel. However, I think it will make an excellent school backpack.

Pros: I love this thing back pack, unbelievable construction, totally functional, and the price is absolutely amazing!! Great job Monoprice, once again!
Cons: absolutely no cons!! Perfcect bag in every way!!
