Pros: Great tablet when it works. Pressure sensitivity is great and tracking is very smooth.
Cons: The drivers, they do not function properly. Seems like they need to be rebuilt from the ground up and tested extensively. So far one of the main issues is interference with other wireless pointing device drivers. Running in compatibility mode does nothing in my experience. I did get it work on my mac 10.6, after messing with it for a few hours. I was almost sure the tablet was defective until I disabled my Bluetooth drivers. Only then was I able to launch the tablet driver. The only way I could get it work alongside with my wireless keyboard was to unplug the tablet on startup/ let the keyboard connect/ reconnect the tablet/ disable the bluetooth drivers/ launch the tablet driver and then launch the bluetooth driver. I don’t even want to know what would happen if I tried to connect a wireless mouse. I have yet to try and get the tablet to work on my pc alongside with my Logitech driver (uninstalling and reinstalling drivers in different orders does not always work). It’s frustrating and I hope monoprice is looking into developing new drivers soon.
It’s a great product for the price but be prepared if it doesn’t function right out of the box.

Worth the hassle
|
Pros: Size Price Shipping time Shortcut buttons Pen to screen response
Cons: temperamental USB connection Battery powered pen limited choices for pen button Works for mac but does not have all the same extra features for mac.
The tablet for the size and functionality is an amazing deal compared to Wacom prices. I have a 12x9 active area for the cost of my old 6x4 Wacom. Shipment was cheap and got to me the next day. The assignment buttons (besides the pen itself) can be easily mapped out to any command you'd use on a keyboard. The pen however has presets that you can map it to which for me are useless because I do not like having the button as a double click short cut which are the only options. Works great for photoshop.
The tablet originally shipped to me had a faulty USB connection and would not work but the monoprice tech support were able to send me out a new one relatively quickly. The second tablet sent to me has to be plugged in when I turn on my computer or else it will give me a blinking green light and not function. This gets frustrating but in all honesty is worth it for the price and the fact that when it does work that it is very responsive.

Pros: Easy to use, prior reviews say to give your self time to get use too. This is true, BUT once you got it, you got it!!
Cons: Just a "little" larger than I imagined. BUT do-able!
I wish I had purchase this a few years ago. I do a lot of drawing and art work for my wife's and I Sunday School class. What a LIFE saver....

Cannot get it to work with OS X 10.8.3 or Win7
|
Pros: Great price for a large tablet. I like that the short cut buttons are at the top of the tablet. Making it nice for us left handed people.
Cons: I could not get the tablet to be recognized by iMac Mt. Lion 10.8.3. Monoprice sent me another one to test it (great customer support by the way), and still no luck. I even contacted UC-Logic and they gave me a driver that is newer than the one available on their web site. Still no luck. Still waiting to hear back from UC-Logic with any other tips.
Beware if you are running OS X Mt. Lion 10.8.3. I could not get mine to work which is a shame because it looks like a really nice tablet.

Splendid
|
Pros: Biggest bang and the best deal. This is a great thing to begin with. It has all the advantages of the tablet and none of the disadvantages of the competition. The prices of these things makes them affordable alternatives to the other brands.
Cons: Documentation is a bit sketchy at first. The user information was crucial for the first set-up. I found the drivers online at the manufacturers most helpful.
Go for it. Look around for some other great buys out there from these smart manufacturers who may be newer in the US markets. Thanks.

Windows drivers are crap
|
Pros: Works in Ubuntu 12.10 immediately, but no pressure sensitivity. This was how I verified that the hardware was functioning. Nice size, tablet unit itself seems decent.
Cons: Does not work with any version of windows, nor on Mac OSX. Pen is cheap and flimsy. Bought $10 replacement pen, quality is better, but the buttons are very difficult to find and use without looking at the pen closely.
Followed the instructions to the letter on Mac OSX, two Windows 8 64-bit machines, one Win7 64-bit machine, one Win7 32-bit machine, one windows XP 32-bit machine. Absolute abysmal failure in each case. That's six different computers. This means it just doesn't work, and the fact that the drivers were released in this condition is disgraceful. The best I got was on the Win7 32-bit machine where the cursor snaps to the upper left corner and stays there forever. VERY poor drivers, worst I have ever seen. The instructions, troubleshooting guide and downloaded UC-Logic drivers are all useless. Thus far I have found no workaround or method that will get the hardware to function. I guess I'll look into getting the pressure sensitivity to work in Ubuntu and put aside my thousands of dollars in windows adobe software. I live in canada so I paid almost as much for shipping and duties as I did for the tablet. Total loss, oh well.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Jon,
My apologies for the problems you ran into in getting the Graphic Tablet installed on any of the operating systems. I know you mentioned the guides were of no help, but I will email a Quick start guide that will hopefully help. Also I assume when installing the tablet you installed all drivers first and avoided all win 7 drivers as well that may try and install? I know if the tablet is connected first sometimes this conflicts with the overall setup of the tablet. You may also try running the tablet in compatibility mode to see if that results in any success. Again my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and I will send over the quick guide shortly.
Sincerely

by Jon Yes, I uninstalled all wacom drivers and followed the guides, I tried installing the tablet every way I can think possible and at this point I have spent upwards of 30 hours researching and trying anything to get it working short of formatting a computer. I have tried every possible combination of compatibility mode / run as administrator. I even disabled driver signing etc. If I force install the drivers manually it causes a system crash. Please note that the product wrapping itself clearly states to plug the tablet in first before installing drivers, so that's what I did in the first case. On subsequent machines I installed the drivers first. I am an experienced IT professional, if I can't get this tablet working I have no idea how anyone else is. What it boils down to is that the hardware is OK and the drivers are bad. This level of difficulty should not be experienced with any peripheral. Does Monoprice have any plans to fix the driver issues and / or get UC-Logic to release working ones?
by Monoprice Administrator Hi Jon,
Our Product Team has actually already pulled samples of the tablet to test and pin point the exact issue with the drivers so we can get the issue corrected as soon as possible. I'm waiting to hear back on the results as we speak. In the meantime if you like I can issue an RMA for a return on the tablet. Again my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Useless on 3 computers (2 Operating Systems)
|
Pros: None
Cons: Mouse stays in upper left hand corner of the screen in Windows 7 installations. Made sure to do the installs the recommended route. Then tried a million different fixes to no avail. Windows XP installation just straight up refuses to accept drivers. Soooo, useless.
I've worked as a computer tech for a while, so to come across something this difficult to install is ridiculous. In an age when things are very plug & play trying to get this to work reminds me of trying to get things to work in Windows 3.1x. It's clear others have it working fine so, perhaps, it's a slightly isolated case... but none the less it's lousy. Not to mention in several reviews I've read people are having drivers issues. It's hard to pinpoint anywhere on the internet any resolve for this issue, but if I don't find one soon, this thing's gunna be sent back. Incredibly disappointing to buy something, spend many hours trying to get it to work, and always resulting in absolutely zero progress.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Sorry for the trouble you have had in getting the graphic tablet setup. I have forward this to our Product Development Team to review and test for any potential issues. If you like and still are having issues with the tablet I can issue an RMA for a return. I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Beware if using Windows 8
|
Pros: 1. Looks great 2. Solid 3. Well... I've heard great things about it...
Cons: 1. May not work if you are using Windows 8 (and sometimes 7) 2. The wire is very short
I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this tablet looks and feels. It's heavy (not too heavy) and solid. The elevation devices are nice. Of course I'd give it a higher rating if it actually worked. I followed the (limited) instructions it came with to install the drivers and software. When I plugged it in- it didn't work. I retried it. Still nothing. I made sure too look online to see if other people were having the same problem and to make sure I really was doing it right. I eventually found and installed the "latest" drivers from http://www.uc-logic.com/en/index.php?ParentMenuID=4 Still didn't work. I finally got help from Monoprice's live chat service and they told me their developers are aware of the problem and are working on it. So if you have Windows 8, beware.

12X9 Tablet
|
Pros: Size Price
Cons: Can't get it to work properly. Cursor sticks to top left.
I would be endlessly grateful if someone could tell me how to make the cursor stop sticking in the top right corner. I just got this on Friday. I've removed old drivers. I've used the drivers from the disk. I followed the instructions line by line. I've removed them and used the UC-logic drivers. I've removed and installed and removed and reinstalled for the last day and a half. I've attempted the tips and tricks online. I've attempted to get Vista to stop installing it's own drivers. I have all service packs up to date. All updates up to date. The tablet is on, the green light goes on, the pen has a battery, but the cursor just sticks to the top left of the screen. If I press and hold it will right-click up there.
I was very excited about this tablet. I still am! :) I read reviews and I was willing to deal with the driver issues because of the great price. I know many people get it to work. Can someone help me?
by Monoprice Administrator Hi Aaron,
My apologies for the problems you encountered with the graphic tablet. From everything you described above sounds like it was installed properly and you may just have a faulty tablet. If you like I can issue an RMA for a replacement for you or if you no longer have a need for the item I can setup a return. Again my apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused.

by Hack Hello Tjayi,
Thanks for your response. I requested an RMA about 2 weeks ago. It was granted, I received a UPS label via email very quickly and I sent the item(s) back last Saturday (April 27th). Hopefully you will receive them soon if you haven't already.
I do believe this product is as good as people say. I just didn't want to spend another weekend trying to deal with stubborn drivers. It was very frustrating. At the risk of getting another faulty tablet and having to send it back again, I chose a refund over a replacement.
Thank you very much for following up. I still have great confidence in your products and I recommend Monoprice when given the chance.
Thanks again, Aaron

Piece of crap
|
Pros: None.
Cons: Manual written in Chinglish, detects pen before it even touches the screen, making drawing impossible, poorly made, terrible application programs, non-compatible with photoshop.
NEVER BUY this product under any circumstance. It is as useful as the box it comes in. You cannot draw with it because the pen somehow registers on the tablet before you even touch the nib to it, causing errant lines and jumpiness. Only works with MS Paint, and offers no practical uses. The manual is written in horrible English and is impossible to understand. Another perfect example of "Made in China" trash.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Joseph,
My apologies for the issues you having getting the tablet to work with Photoshop. From what you described does sound like a possible conflict rather it be drivers or other parameters. If I may ask when you installed the tablet did you connect it first or install the drivers first from the disc. It can be a little finicky and the drivers will need to be installed first before the tablet is connected the PC/Mac at all, avoiding any drivers Windows may try and install by default.
We've also had a few customers have issues with particular mouses they use (Intellipoint etc.) The mouse drivers over riding those of the tablet causing the random lines etc. A few remedies for this is one disconnect your mouse to see if that resolves the problem. Or also uninstall the drivers for the mouse and reinstall after the tablet has been installed correctly (This being this is the problem) Lastly which also worked for some is erasing the Photoshop settings files to reset the program. Here is a link that explains exactly how to go about this if you have trouble.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776
It does seem like your pen is working correctly but I would just double check the batteries and contacts just in case.
Again my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. If this doesn't seem to resolve your issues and you are still dissatisfied with the tablet I can issue an RMA for a return. I would just need an order number to get the process started.
Thank you

The tablet works great on my wife's iMac and on my Windows 7 computer. I used the drivers from the maker's web site. No real issues with the tablet, other than the size - you do need a large, clear surface to work with it.

What everyone else said and more!
|
Pros: Excellent size/performance for the cost. It's big, but I knew that ordering it. Just plan on clearing your desk area in front of your monitor. Speedy service directly from Monoprice. Well made except for...
Cons: ...the pen, which has been mentioned quite a bit. I did not order the optional pen because I wanted to see if the one that came with the tablet was as everyone described. It pretty much is. Lightweight plastic, a pain to get the battery positioned correctly in the cheap housing so that the tablet sees it, etc. That said, once I got it working, it works great. For my large hands it is just the right width. The AAA battery-added heft is just fine for me. I'll hold off getting a replacement until this one dies, but it works just fine.
First, I am new to digital art, but wanted to get something I could work on photos with without attempting to do so with a mouse. Second, I've always been interested in computer graphics and digital art in generaljust went through college a little before the career field became big. As such, I've wanted a tablet for a good while, but didn't want to spend a fortune not knowing how it would work out. I picked up Corel Painter 12 on a good deal, and that, coupled with CorelDraw Graphics Suite X6 should keep me plenty occupied. There are tons of online tutorials both at Corel and other sites to help learn digital drawing/painting basics and I think I may really get into this. Either way, for someone new to the field this is a great place to start. Thanks, Monoprice!

The 12 X 9 is an excellent tablet
|
Pros: Very sensitive High resolution Smooth writing service
Cons: Pen feels kind of cheap but works ok. Pen button functionality needs some work (new drivers?)
After using this tablet for a couple of months, I really do not see why my Wacom cost so bloody much. This is a great tablet sold with a cheap pen. If the pen buttons had the same functionality as left and right mouse buttons with some sort of simulated thumb wheel action for use in scrolling, this tablet would wipe the floor with much more expensive ones.

Exceptional device for the price!
|
Pros: Inexpensive, easy setup, short learning curve
Cons: Are there really any cons?
This device is perfect for beginner to intermediate users. Additional software needed for advanced user artwork. I use a combo of photoshop, paintshop, paint, and autodesk sketchbook pro for everything from sketches to finished designs.

Pros: Easy to use. Awesome product for little money. Huge drawing space.
Cons: Non.

Cannot be beat
|
Pros: -Sheer size, thing is massive, makes for an excellent drawing surface -Pressure sensitivity is beautiful. -Very few features lost when i transitioned from a Wacom tablet.
Cons: -Sheer size, be prepared to have the desk space for this bad boy. -Can't set the pen button to pan like i could with my Wacom. Not a big deal though. -Drivers keep acting up for some reason, but that might be an isolated issue. -No eraser. Again, not a big issue, but it would have been a nice touch.
After having a small Wacom Bamboo for years and looking to upgrade in size but have been scared off by the size, this was downright amazing. I'm generally used to drawing on paper and digitizing that, but since I bought this, i do all my art directly on the computer. If you're in the market for a large graphic tablet. This one is for you.

Great beginning!
|
Pros: Pre-sales chat was very helpful. Very fast service - received sooner than expected.
Just received it yesterday (2/6/13) and installed it in Windows 8 without any hitches. Worked exactly as advertised in Windows. Used it with ArtRage 2.6 (a freebie) and it worked great. Supplied pen is fine, but (See Cons.)
Cons: They need to fix the manual to change the installation procedure, i.e., basically change from "install driver then plug in tablet" to "plug in tablet and then install driver." This stated (more or less) on the protective wrap in the package.
The battery holder in the pen seems fragile, but it works. Also, the pen halves must be aligned before putting them back together. Again, not a biggy, but could be improved. I wouldn't drop it on a hard floor!
This is a nit, but I found myself accidentally clicking the pen buttons frequently during drawing. Maybe if they were harder to push, it would be less of a problem...another part of learning.
The plastic flap surface will take some getting used to for drawing. It is much slicker than paper (no surprise), so it is not an exact 1-to-1 move from a pencil to a tablet and will take some learning.
Included applications worked (or not) as stated on the Web site.
Basically, this tablet works great. I was skeptical and looked at it for a long time before buying, but now I am a believer. Hard to see why one needs to spend hundreds more, unless you make your living using a tablet and need the super reliability that the "big" brand would likely bring.

Pros: WOW these guys are great. My son wanted this particular Drawing Tablet and found it on this site. I ordered it in the December and received it less than a week later, Christmas rush, sent from USA to Australia in around a week, now thats service.
Cons: Postage is always an issue from the States' but reliable delivery is "worth its weight in gold". I just ensure the price is right.

This tablet is easy to swallow!
|
Pros: Easy to set up with a LOW learning curve. This tablet is SOLID and very easy to use. In have never used a digitizing tablet before, but the way this one works, especially at this price, I don't know why I didn't do this a LONG time ago. I HIGHLY recommend this tablet!
Cons: The surface refects the glare of the overhead light making the "hot buttons" difficult to see. (I got over that quickly!)
This is a great digitizing tablet! Although I am somewhat of a beginning graphic artist, this tablet has been so easy and fun to use I've already picked up my first "commissioned" project! There are other tablets out there that are SUPPOSED to be better, but I can't see HOW, and I don't know WHY I would need anything else!

Great for the price
|
Pros: Great size, looks good, great price, comes with 2 batteries and replacement nibs, good customer service
Cons: the drivers can be a nightmare to figure out/can be hard to get the tablet working. I'm not sure whether its my own technical incompetence or what, but i had a hard time getting it to work a second time!
I absolutely love it. i had a very hard time actually getting it to work, but with the help of livechat/customer service (they were ACTUALLY helpful, a nice surprise) where it took me 2 hours of me fiddling it took tech support 10 minutes to solve my problems. If you have a wacom as well, like me, be sure to uninstall those drivers first, and make sure to follow the directions exactly. Still a fantastic tablet, i'm looking to buy my brother a smaller one for christmas.

Good, but no reason it couldn't be great.
|
Pros: Price. For quality vs price, you're absolutely thrashing Wacom.
Cons: Fiddly and incomplete drivers. See Review.
When people talk about graphics tablets, they almost always mean wacom. And when they say Monoprice, people tend to cringe a little. It's considered the budget option. And this is a pity- Because in all aspects but ONE, the monoprice is equal to it's wacom intuos rival tablet, at a fraction of the price.
Where does the Monoprice fall down? It's the damn drivers! And the most infuriating part is that for less than a grand, you could probably fix all the issues- FOR EVERY TABLET YOU MAKE FROM NOW ON. And here they are- 1. Installing can be...fiddly. Windows likes to fight it, or interpret it as three mice, and various other issues. I reformatted my computer to make it work. 2. Pressure sensitivity is FIXED at the full range of the tablet, and makes no accounting for people with preferences to press harder or softer than the tablet likes- Now this one might sound a little odd if you've never fiddled with wacom drivers, but being able to tweak the range of pressures that the drivers interpret (obviously this is not a hardware change) makes the tablet that much more usable- fitting the device to the human rather than forcing the human to relearn his/her pressure preference.
PLEASE. Patch your drivers. I've trained myself to play the pressure game on your terms, Monoprice, but there's no real excuse not to fix this problem.

Great tablet for the money
|
Pros: HUGE! There's so much room to move around on this thing.
Cons: HUGE! Seriously, I was not expecting this to be as large as it is. I listed this as a pro and a con. The pen is a little awkward to hold as well and the button gets tapped accidentally more that I'd like.
This tablet is awesome for the money. I doesn't have quite the fit and finish as some of the Wacom offerings but for being a fraction of the cost of similar sized tablet it's a minor thing. The tablet will work out of the box without drivers on both Mac and PC but needs drivers for some of the extra functionality. The button on the pen can be a little awkward but it might be a learning curve. Overall this is an awesome starter tablet but if I we're recommending this to someone I might opt for the slightly smaller one.

Pros: Price! Ease of setup simple but complete software
Cons: Feels a little cheap worried that the pen might break after a few battery changes
This is the first drawing tablet I've owned. I had done a good amount of research before purchasing ans we on the verge of buying an intuos 5 Large. I'm glad I got this and saved myself $300+. The only thing I'm missing is the gestures although I prefer keyboard shortcuts and full back to the mouse as needed. After a few days of teaching myself to use the tablet I couldn't be happier with it's functionality. The surface feels good. The response is good and accurate. I have a 2 monitor setup that it handles perfectly. It's also simple to lock the tablet to just 1 monitor or part of a monitor. The learning curve is a but steep although I believe that would be true for any tablet. I have used it for photo retouching (lightroom) and some photoshop / illustrator work. So far I'm happy and am getting better daily.
Make sure you have a big work area as this thing is big. If you have a single monitor I would recommend a smaller tablet. 2 monitor setup, go with this one.
Shipping from Monoprice was fast and affordable as well. Ordered at 4pm Weds, was at my door by 11am Friday monring! RECOMMEND.

Pros: - Huge tablet! - Pen and tablet work very smoothly - Overall the function is basically the same and I find it pretty much indistinguishable from any brand name tablet!
Cons: - I don't like the light plastic layer over the tablet, but I have not had any real issues with it other than it bends easily. - The battery goes in the pen and it's a bit hard to put in, but works well otherwise. - There is no 'eraser' part on the pen.
You would think for being off brand that this would not fair against Wacom, but this is truly a steal and it's a wonderful tablet! On the contrary, just because it's brand name does not mean it's superior and the Monoprice tablet proves this. I highly recommend this for anyone on a budget who simply doesn't want to compromise in size because of price. I was low on money and was thinking I'd have to buy a very small Wacom tablet, which I honestly hated and I could hardly draw with. This thing is huge and honestly when I can afford more brand name products, I will still likely keep one of these on hand because they are so cheap! I would not be afraid to take this places/let people borrow it/have it as a backup. This is also a GREAT present for artists. A lot of people believe tablets must be expensive and something they work for... imagine getting this for someone's birthday or for Christmas and really surprising them. In an age where everything is digital, this would be a must have for them to get started in the world of digital art. Highly recommended guys!

Not very good, not total crap
|
Pros: I like the look of this tablet. I like the flip up fins on the back that allow you to prop the tablet up, great idea. I like that it's black.
Cons: The pen lags heavily as you move it across the screen. Sometimes it doesn't but then it suddenly will for no reason. The plastic writing shield began to scratch IMMEDIATELY. I have owned "another brand of tablet" for 10 years with no sign of damage to the writing shield. The pen only allows it's buttons to be mapped as mouse clicks (double click, right click, middle click) and does not allow for keyboard shortcuts.
I wanted to try this tablet as a replace for my Intuos 2 that is not usb compatible. I was very concerned about ordering from a company I have never heard of but for the price I took the risk. If you cannot spend any more money on a tablet than this then it might be an option for you, it would probably work well enough. I am however used to higher performance and this felt like a huge step down. Not to mention the product gave every impression that I should expect a lot of damage from general use. Sorry Monoprice, so far the return process has been simple and for that I will use you again. Your customer service has been wonderful.

Finally! A tablet...
|
Pros: Huge workspace, legs for adjustment are super sturdy, price(Of course), Decent configuration when you figure out the controls.
Cons: Yeah, the pen. I have trouble with accidentally hitting the buttons occasionally, or not hitting them when I need to. Changing the battery in the pen feels like you're about to break something. Still a keeper though, these are minor.
First off Really? you're complaining because the pen takes a BATTERY? How else is it supposed to get data to the computer? Little fairies on your tablet taking notes? Of COURSE it has a battery! Maybe you're complaining because it doesn't have a tiny, built in, non-replaceable battery? Yeah, we all see how well THAT idea works when our iPod's battery dies.
And for another poster, of course you need "professional" software, but it isn't the tablet's limitations here, it's MS Paint and other such apps that have no actual tools in them. 2 suggestions(and are free) are Art Rage, which is a painting specific program, and GIMP, which is an open source photo editing program that is used by many as a free alternative to Photoshop. Either of those will help your daughter.
The tablet is AWESOME. I am going to have to do some serious learning to make it work smoothly though. I am still accidentally clicking on and dragging things, but this is definitely going to be a dream. I'll be able to do more precise selections in Photoshop, and all kinds of other stuff once I get the hang of navigating this. Would like a little more configuration stuff, and a 'Check for Updates' on the driver control panel, but minor issues. I am going to be very happy with this.
And the best thing? Monoprice came through AGAIN! Ordered on Thursday night, paid standard shipping and got it Monday morning.

Very Satisfied
|
This tablet functions above my expectations. I have two 4:3 aspect ratio monitors set up as dual screen. I have tested this on both PC/Mac and have had no issues. You can't beat this price for what you get. The software enabled me to lock the use of the tablet to just one of the screens. My only wish is that they had a tablet for sale with the LCD screen built in, but now that I am used to drawing with this workflow, I am very content.

LOVE IT.

Pros: Size. Feel. lightweight. So much cheaper than other brands.
Cons: No 'eraser' on back of pen- BUT, have gotten used to selecting manually and no longer notice this issue.
I love it. Seriously. I haven't touched my Intuos this this guy arrived.
I work full time as a commission cartoonist, so I use this daily for 3-6 hours. Love love LOVE it. My work has improved because of it. I recommend this to everyone.

Pros: More than enough size Nice pressure sensitivity
Cons: Cheap pen design
So before buying this I was pretty skeptical. A nice size tablet with pretty standard pressure sensitivity under 100 bucks?! I figured for 80 some dollars I'd give it a try and I must say I am not at all let down by my purchase.
I am an aspiring comic artist and I must say for someone just starting off this is more than what's needed for fundamentals. Comparing it to the similar costing Bamboo from Wacom ( a professional grade tablet product ) is entirely too close considering the size of both.
If you're in the market looking for something cheap but also something you can hold onto while you build yourself as an artist, don't shy away from this.
Graphic designers ( Such as myself ) Intermediate Illustrators, artists and hobby drawers alike, do it! You won't regret it.

Pros: I love everything about this tablet! So simple to use!
Cons: The only con I've found with this tablet is that there isn't a delete key. I tried setting it up in one of the custom slots but it wouldn't allow me to do it. So you have to go to the keyboard or right click to delete. Kind of a hassle sometimes but not too bad. I could be missing something but the directions that came with it don't really tell you anything so you just have to figure it out on your own, which, for the most part, isn't hard at all to do!
This tablet is super easy to use. Basically just plug it in & you're ready to go! If you're looking for a great tablet with a huge working surface at a great price, this is it!! Easily comparable to the $200+ tablets!

Pros: It works on Mac or PC.
Cons: Ugly design, klunky, stylus has batteries (making ir heavy)
We have Wacom tablets at work. I thought this would be a good solution for working at home. It works on both PC and Mac, but at home I find myself using the Apple "magic mouse" instead. Maybe if I had moe desk space or my Photoshop use was moe dedicated like at work I would use it more. It's not a Mercedes but it does what it is advertised to do.

Pros: Easy to install. Accurate. Simple preferences to change.
Cons: Drawing surface.
Drawing surface can cause your hand to jutter. Can remove it, but probably not reattach if sticky tape is dirty. Smooth for drawing but not for hands. Everything is spot on and well worth the price. Would recommend highly.

Monoprice Graphic Drawing Tablet
|
Pros: Large format Good sensitivity On-tablet controls Ease of installation and turn-key operation
Cons: Lack of good documentation, tutorials, etc.
Since I have never used a tablet before and thus have no prior experience with which to make comparisons, I will give this a guarded endorsement hence, the rating of 8. I use it to perform photo restoration and retouching with Corel Photo Paint Shop X4 and it performs up to my expectations with regard to touch sensitivity and ease of use. I have not yet mastered the ability to derive different effects from tilting the tip but really haven't yet found that necessary in what I am doing. Also, I don't use the cursive-to-font capability but plan to at a later date. Would I recommend it? Yes.

Drawing Tablet Review

Pros: I thought I had made a mistake in buying such a large size, was I ever wrong. The large size screen is awesome, it makes it so easy to edit my pictures, and it is so easy to use. Very happy with my purchase.
Cons: None that I can see.
Price was very good, quality is above board, shipped very quickly, and was very well packaged to protect it. Definitely recommend it.

Great Alternative to the Wacom Bamboo!
|
Pros: -HUGE active area. Seriously, my 1st Gen med-sized Wacom Bamboo fit inside it! -Good drivers that work flawlessly with Vista and Windows 7 (If you follow the Quick Start Guide.) -Supports Dual Screen & 64bit OS -Works fantastic with Photoshop and Manga Studio EX 4 -5 Extra nibs & pen holder serves as a nib remover. COOL. -Requires more pressure to get a thicker line, which imitates a real pen or pencil more closely. -Slightly heavier and thicker pen than Wacom's, which makes it easier to control and is more comfortable in bigger hands. -My husband, who's hated using the Graphire and Bamboo tablets, LIKES THIS ONE. I bought this for him specifically. I can't ask for much higher praise than that. -The price! Oh, how wonderfully cheap!!!
Cons: -A really crummy cheap feeling pen that comes with an otherwise sturdy feeling tablet. It works, but I wonder for how long. Buy the spare pen found on this website for $10 and get a nicer quality pen & keep the default one for backup. Knocked a star off because the pen was so cheap. -Pen is a little heavier, fatter, and requires a bit more pressure to get thicker line. People coming from Wacom might find this annoying at first. -Don't install Dual Screen drivers if you hate having your tablet split between screens. -GIMP doesn't play nice with dual monitors, even when the drivers are set to "see" only one screen. (Fine with ONE monitor though.) -Monoprice seems pretty new the tablet market, so there's no way to know how long the tablets will last or how long Monoprice will support them.
I wrote a very detailed review of this tablet. It includes size comparisons of the tablet and the pens, as well as my first impression. Has lots of picturestoo: http://draw2much.blogspot.com/2012/04/welcome-to-my-review-of-monoprice-12-x.html
If the link above doesn't show up, Google for it. It's on my Blogspot and DeviantArt account (my name is Draw2much on both websites). :)
by Draw2much It's been months now and this tablet is still running strong. the drivers themselves are pretty solid, but I've discovered that Windows (7) does not always play nice. After a lot of research I've compiled a list of common Questions/Problems related to this tablet and some of the smaller ones. If you're having a problem with your tablet, please check it out: http://fav.me/d5nvdxq

Pros: Very large work area, customizable zones and buttons, clean, easy to use, easy to install...
Cons: The pen that comes with tablet doesn't have an "eraser" ... or if it does, I haven't figured out how to use it.
A very nice tablet. This is the first time I've ever used a tablet for PC input, so I was taking a leap of faith in buying it. I must say I am satisfied with my purchase.
When you first plug this tablet into the computer USB, with Windows 7 it should recognize it. I did this and it worked for moving the cursor around with clicking. The cursor moves around if you hover the pen over the surface, and will click when it physically touches the surface.
I was hoping for pressure sensitivity and customizable zones.. to make this work you have to install the extra drivers. They come on the CD that comes in the box. I installed the extra drivers and now I can set which zones recognize input, I can customize the pen button actions, the pressure sensitivity works and can be adjusted, and the shortcut buttons at the top of the tablet can all be customized. ...the software even offers a print option for printing custom labels for redefined shortcuts! :)
This is a very neat toy. I'm glad I bought it. It makes drawing on the computer so much easier.

AWESOME GRAPHICS TABLET
|
Pros: love the large size of the tablet, surface of tablet is perfect and has some resistance to it when you draw like paper has and does not feel like you are drawing on glass. i love the pressure feature of the tablet so draw a thin line with light pressure and a heavy line with more pressure. it is like having a paint brush when you are doing your drawings. i like the hot spots on the tablet that you can program to do extra features or run other programs. the pen feels great in your hand and was very easy to use and the buttons were well placed and easy to see. this is the best tablet i have owned and well worth more than the price they charge for it. i like it better than the wacom tablets. also the software was easy to setup including the drivers for the tablet. i love the hand writing recognition and how accurate it is. just buy the tablet and you will not be sorry. i also use this tablet on my other computer that runs linux mint and linux mint has universal drivers for a graphics tablet that worked well for me. if you use this on linux mint the windows drivers will not work with it.
Cons: none at all i can find it works perfect out of the box.

Amazing Long-Lasting Tablet
|
Pros: The large workspace, and I adore the pressure sensitivity. It's cheap, and ships FAST. Great deal.
Cons: Pressure sensitivity and hot keys don't work until Driver is installed. Not really a con. But it might help if you can't figure out why they aren't working.
I've had a tablet almost identical to this one for years. The only difference is my old one being white. When mine started to show some wear and tear I ordered this one. It works very similarly with a few upgrades to the software. I am an artist working my way through college. This tablet is great on the budget, and works for all my needs. There is not anything higher end tablets can do that this one can not. Once ordered, it got shipped same day, and I received it three days later. Fast shipping. Completely satisfied with my purchase, and look forward to buying from Monoprice in the future.

|
Pros: Price and size.
Cons: connectivity...too many cables to connect. In this day and age there has to be a better way to connect this to a computer.
For the price, this is a 9. It works and works well. But when you take everything into consideration it is a 7.5 or maybe a little better.

Excellent buy!
|
Pros: large surface, responsive, accurate, truly plug and play!
Cons: full functionality requires a "professional" software tool
I wasn't sure what to pick for my 14 year old daughter. I looked at the more expensive "professional" options, but couldn't justify the cost. She loves the tablet. It works great with all our drawing software from Photoshop to Microsoft Paint (except the functions on the top bar)! I would definitely recommend this product!

This is a BIG Tablet
|
Pros: Provides a large drawing surface as a canvas to create detailed drawings. Works exceptionally well. My daughter does not even use a mouse any more now that she is used to the pen as her input device. She especially likes the tilt feature. The included software allows work in a variety of applications and works very well with Windows XP.
Cons: Not really a con, but this tablet does take up a lot of real estate on your desk. Be sure you have enough space next to your keyboard.
I'm very happy with this purchase. You can spend a lot more on a tablet, but this one does everything we need it to do, and does it very well.

Best Quality Tablet for the price and then some. PERIOD! Monoprice does it again!!!
|
Pros: Large drawing area, well built quality product all around that performs well and is simple to setup. Last but not least super price for a super product.
Cons: Not really a con but stock pen is just ok, however again based on the overall value of this tablet this can easily be overlooked.
For anyone thinking of getting this tablet. JUST GET IT ALREADY!!! You can't beat the value for a quality 12x9 tablet such as this. I bought two of these tablets one for myself and another for my fellow designer. She loves it as do I. It works great in Photoshop and Illustrator so no complaints there.
I just discovered that replacement tips can be purchased as well as the better pen model of which I've just purchased and can't wait to test it out. I highly approve and recommend this product

Awesome graphics tablet
|
Pros: Works amazingly well, even for it's price. 10/10!
Cons: It would be nice if the grey border was black, but otherwise nothing.
I would love for the hot key names at the top of the tablet, to be little LED screens so when you change the preset, the corresponding name changes. But besides that, and there being no wireless option. I can find nothing wrong with this unit. This graphics tablet is awesome. Buy one you'll love it!

12x9 Inches Graphic Drawing Tablet
|
Pros: Excellent responsiveness, decent length of usb cable, easily installable software, good value for money.
Cons: Flimsy battery holder contacts in pen casing, pen stand is light-weight and falls over easily.
I am not a seasoned user of graphics tablets, and being my first one, I cannot objectively compare with other models. However, it is much cheaper than other tablets on the market and feels realistic when making light and heavy strokes. Just be aware that the dimensions of this one give it a large footprint on your desk, but then again, it is perfect for sitting on your knees. It was shipped very quickly with a tracking number and carefully packed. All in all I am very satisfied and would recommend it.

good for first time users
|
Pros: enjoy the cheap price, grate for first times , love the big size , easy instillation
Cons: after a few Month it will worn down , no good replacement for pen , pen will easily break , pen holder is very cheap and will fall just buy the weight of the pen
This is my very first drawing tablet , i wanted to improve more in my art work so i went for was cheap. Its very responsive when i first used and buy that i feel it was a good practice for on how to tablets and thats all. But after a total of 11 month i stared to have major with it first it was the pen and i had some trouble geting a new pen and waited to the point were i wanted to return the whole tablet . I was never harsh to my tablet or pen but it broke to easily . I did eventually get a new pen and drawing was fine since then , but now in the new year its just geting old and i when i draw the tablet lagging alot and sometimes unresponsive . So my conclusion is it an OK tablet, it wont last long and you should really save up for a more Superior tablet (more so wacom) . I enjoyed it , but it feels to cheap and i feel i paid more then what i though i got and seriously spend that $92.39 on something else

Not the best, but does the job!
|
Pros: Inexpensive. Pressure Sensitive. Large work area.
Cons: No stylus/pen tilt. Software has minor issues. Pen is a bit on the flimsy side.
This tablet is very inexpensive, which makes it a perfect starter tablet. The pressure sensitivity seems to be reasonably responsive, but this tablet lacks tilt, which is common in Wacom tablets. But again, it's very inexpensive. The pen seemed solid at first, but the rubber sleeve is getting loose, and the side button is VERY flimsy, and awkward. I can see replacement pens in my future, but it's still so inexpensive, it's worth it as a starter tablet.

Pros: Solid construction, very large drawing space, extremely good price for what you get.
Cons: None were reported to me.. :)
I finally got the tablet home for my daughter and she's totally blown away by it... :) She can't get over how huge an area she has for drawing now and litterally said to me "I feel like drawing the world!":D I also bought the extra pen and additional tips in advance. Just wanted to let everyone know that the replacement tips ARE in-fact available from this site! I don't know why no one's mentioned it here yet. Here's a link to the tips: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10841&cs_id=1084103&p_id=8701&seq=1&format=2
In case the link doesn't appear, just perform a search for "Replacement tips" :)

Great item for the price!
|
Pros: Great for the price. Large working area. Nice and solid. Easy to get up and running
Cons: Pen stand a bit unstable. Pen nibs wear out easily The button on the pen sometimes gets in the way while drawing on tablet
All I can say is WOW... Wish I had found this tablet years ago. I've been looking at buying the Wacom Intuos4 large tablet for years but just couldn't justify the cost, not knowing if I would like using a tablet in the first place. Decided this was a relatively inexpensive "science project" to see if a graphics tablet was for me before I dove in and paid the big bucks for the Wacom. Sure glad I did. I have been using this tablet for a couple of months now and LOVE IT. For years, I have been using a mouse to digitally paint and create graphics in Photoshop. I am now using my tablet with Corel Painter 11...works beautifully. The only suggestion I would make to a new buyer, is go ahead and cough up the extra $0.76 for the additional 10 nibs from monoprice. Wish I had seen that they were for sale on the site, a I can see I am going to need them. Other than that, I am very pleased and will be buying another one of these for a friend. I seriously doubt I will buy the Wacom now.

A Great Buy
|
Pros: Large strong tablet Simple to setup Pen has a good weight with AAA battery installed Adjustable height is nicely built in
Cons: May need to be installed as Administrator in certain situations under Windows 7
I purchased this tablet as a replacement for a small Wacom Bamboo. I needed something larger with same level of detail as the Wacom. This tablet definitely does the job. This tablet is simple and to the point. If you were to pay $400 for it then I would say it was lacking but for the money its ideal. I was curious who provided the hardware to Monoprice as they a reselling company. After some research I found it is the Taiwan based company UC-Logic (www.uc-logic.com). They have there parts manufactured in China. Here is the product page for this particular model. The nice thing is they have a support page for drivers and stuff in the event you lose the disc. I also discovered that they manufacture a mouse for this tablet although Monoprice doesn't seem to sell it. UC-Logic also seems to manufacture a lot of the other tablets Monoprice sells. One product I really wish Monoprice sold was the Tablet Monitor, I am not sure what the price is but if was reasonable I most definitely would look into purchasing. One problem I did run into was installing on Windows 7 64bit I had to run the installer as Administrator. This is something I have not had to do for any other application but this software needs it. I only discovered this after re-installing almost 10 times. After finally having a successful install and configuring my preferences this tablet is perfect.

We love this tablet. My son thinks it meets his every need and for the price, wow. What a relief! The pen, however, has already broken with one fall to the floor, about a month after he started using it. This of course is a disappointment and I'm going to have to figure out now how to order a new pen, but really, for the price, assuming we don't have lots of broken pens, what an excellent thing.

Ordering from the UK
|
Pros: Much cheaper than anything available in the UK. Great product.
Cons: None. Need to line up the arrow on pen to put the battery in straight.
Ordered from the UK. Arrived promptly, I had to pay £17 in import charges before delivery. Brilliant tablet, very pleased with it! Highly recommended. Good company to buy from.

Great Value
|
Pros: Low Cost Large Work Space Easy to Install Dual Monitor Support x64 compatible Works in Photoshop, ZBrush & ArtRage
Cons: Pen Short Cable
I picked this up because I've wanted to do digital sketching and inking for a long time but Wacom tablets are price prohibitive if you learned to draw traditionally and use flowing arm motions rather then small wrist movements. I had a small Graphire3 for a short while and hated the limited space.
When I saw the price on these tablets I was skeptical but the reviews were very positive and the price was right so I bit the bullet and bought the largest tablet available. The results did not disappoint.
The tablet is very accurate, the legs that prop the tablet up fit securely and the tablet itself has a nice heft to it. The drawing surface is HUGE and lends itself well to large images and sweeping arm motions for fluid lines. The shortcut pads are helpful though I still keep my keyboard at arms length for the hotkeys while inking. The software installs easily though the pack in applications are fairly useless on Windows 7 x64. The driver however and the tablet configuration software are easy to setup and configure the tablet for multiple monitors (I have 4 on my desk all with Monoprice mounts) or locking the tablet to 1 screen and setting the aspect ratio properly. Works very well on a 16:9 screen with little area loss.
The pen as mentioned previously does leave a bit to be desired, I'm contemplating the Monoprice replacement pen if I could get a definite answer it is compatible with this tablet. The buttons on mine are very loose and easily detach and are hard to press properly. Thankfully I don't use them much anyways. The battery for mine is snug however and I rarely have to adjust it's seating in the pen. One thing with the shortcut pads though, I have step backwards in CS5 set as a custom hotpad and when I tap it I do have to wait a short while before hitting it again or the pen seems to stop registering. I think I may have just gotten a chintzy pen.
Otherwise I have no complaints about this tablet at all. It's large, fast, accurate and a great way to start doing digital artwork without taking a 500+ dollar dive into the newest large size Wacom tablet. I would certainly buy another one and recommend them to friends.

Monoprice Drawing Tablet FTW
|
Pros: http://aping-punditry.blogspot.com/2011/06/monoprice-drawing-tablet-review.html
Cons: The white border needs to be black. Purely aesthetic. Otherwise, it's perfect.

Excellent Value
|
Pros: Excellent value, would buy again if I had to.
Cons: Pen's battery installation is kind of fragile.
This works great. The only *minor* downside is the pen AAA battery installation, it took a couple of tries for it to start working. The mechanism holding the battery is a little fragile, a kid will probably break it if not done with care. Not an issue if you are patient and have attention to details (as any artist should be).

BIG RIP OFF - BUY WACOM INSTEAD!!!
|
Pros: Functionality, Size, Price
Cons: NO REPLACEMENT TIPS AVAILABLE !!! It comes with 5 extra tips, but between two people who do graphics nearly daily we will go through the tips in a matter of a 6 months at most. Will be useless in a very short time.
DO NOT BUY ANY GRAPGICS TABLETS FROM HERE!!! NO REPLACEMENT TIPS AVAILABLE!!! Once the extras are used up your tablet is useless. BUY WACOM, you can get replacement tips for their pens!!!
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,

WELL WORTH THE MONEY
|
Pros: Size
Cons: Pen uses a battery, TERRIBLE!
I bought this for friend who is a graphics artist to replace Wacom tablet that I thought held him back because of its tiny size and the abominable prices for a SO-SAY, SO-CALLED one of the best on the market when this does everything it could do PLUS SOME!

Amazing Tablet at an Amazing Price
|
Pros: Everything. Price, quality, compatibility, and ease of use. Comfortable pen, works on my mac. Shipping was fast and it was well packaged. I have had this tablet for about a month now and it has already more than paid for itself. VERY GLAD I DIDN'T BUY A WACOM TABLET.
Cons: I have read some cons about the pen, but I have found it is nice and comfortable, I love that it is wireless, and the AAA battery hasn't wiggled loose on me. It would have been nice to have a battery monitor or led but otherwise the battery gives it a nice weight and I can't complain!
I am a Graphic Artist and Web Designer. This is the best bang for your buck at a quality that is unsurpassed at an amazingly low rate. If you have ever thought of getting a tablet, are looking at a wacom tablet now or think hey a tablet would really add to my services then quit looking and just buy this tablet it will be the best money you ever spent!

Graphic Drawing Tablet
|
Pros: Photoshop compatible Easy to install Lightweight Adjustable pressure Accurate even with high resolution Easy to use Pen fits larger hands, or ergonomically effective for those with problems grasping smaller pens.
Cons: No replacement tips available to order Pen is bulky for smaller hands
The quality of the Monoprice 12x9 inch Graphic Drawing Tablet is excellent. My husband is an artist and absolutely loves this tablet. He is not tech savvy, but he was creating amazing drawings within hours of opening this tool. Price was a consideration, but this tablet is an absolute value. I didn't honestly expect to be this impressed. Of course having dealt with Monoprice before, I did expect my money's worth. The sensitivity of the pen pressure is easy to adjust and Photoshop 12 recognized the tablet with no problems. The included software was simple to install.
The pen fits his hands perfectly, and because of a physical disability, I am actually able to hold it comfortably. I use it to hand write recipes as typing is difficult for my hands, and the handwriting recognition is wonderful. My daughter has tiny hands and it is not easy for her to draw with it. The one problem I have run into is that there were no replacement nibs for the pen and none of the staff that I contacted could resolve this problem. I was told that they are actively pursuing replacement pens as one solution. I would recommend posing the question before purchase, if it is not available after reading this. As long as this issue of replacement nibs is resolved, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. Forget that it is about 80% less expensive than the other leading selling tablet, it is a great drawing tool.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
If there weren't any extra nibs included in the package then we can ship some out to you, I would just need order/invoice number.
Thank you.
by Angel The extra 5 nibs included were not in the package, and a set of 5 were promptly shipped out. While a casual user might make these 6 total nibs last for the expected length of the tablet, a daily user could easily go through 6 in a year. Having extra nibs available to purchase is definitely an important resource, or at the very least the information necessary to buy them though a third party vendor.

Pros: Price-to-size ratio are unheard of. I have another tablet which cannot top this on either category. Response is excellent
Cons: Battery adapter is not so friendly, and I fear that over time, its flimsy construction may become a problem.
This tablet is really an unheard of powerhorse for its workable size and its low price. I can compare it to several other brands and find no significant difference. I wish the stylus could operate without a battery, (and would gladly pay for that premium,) but the dimensions alone are really unbeatable.

Unbeatable!
|
Pros: PRICE, price, and price. Huge surface area - matches up better with my dual 30" monitors than the smaller and 5 times as expensive Intuous products. Great customer service from Monoprice - I got my order expedited and shipping upgraded with...wait for it...a live human being!
Cons: none. nothing.
A 12 x 9 graphics tablet for $85? Yeah right...Yeah. Right! This thing is absolutely unbeatable for the price. I've shelled out the $500 for smaller Intuous tablets and guess what: No difference - none. In fact, I find this one easier to use than the Intuous since I don't use all the buttons on the Intuous. As a graphic designer that does a lot of artwork in addition to design, I can switch from mouse to the tablet just by picking up the pen, and I'm drawing - its that simple. Setup up is a breeze, just plug and play. The HUGE surface is great for detail work, and I love the hefty weight and feel of the pen. My productivity has increased immeasurably with this tablet - and that means more work in less time, and more money in my pocket: this tablet paid for itself in one job!

Very worth the money
|
Pros: The tablet is everything that the description claims. Very easy to use.
Cons: The pen is alittle sensitive.
I bought this pad for my daughter for christmas. It is well worth the price. She loves it. She uses the pad for her Manga art. I'm glad that I bought it for her. I highly recomend it.

Amazing Tablet!
|
Pros: It's huge, and some people might think that's a bag thing but the drawing space being so large is the best thing ever. This tablet is also far more sensitive than my wacom bamboo funn, which surprised me greatly! There's a lot of hotkeys across the top that I just a lot, they're very helpful, and this tablet has amazingly quick response when I do painting. All around I love this tablet.
Cons: The pen does need a AAA. And occasionally the AAA will either shake loose, or not supply power. When that happens I find shaking the pen to be the best solution. It's a momentary hiccup but doesn't change my love for this tablet. The USB cable also is fixed to the tablet andunlike wacom, canned by changed if there's a problem. The only other problem is that the nibs wear down rather fast and aren't readily available on the site (That I could see).
Over all, this tablet handles better than my wacom. The grip on the pen is great, unlike wacoms hard plastic, and the battery is fairly easy to change out. Not to mention that the pens' weight, because of the AAA, makes it feel like a real pen. The "light" setting to the pressure on this tablet is like the "Hard" setting on a wacom, so you have to do a bit of forceful drawing but I adapted in a day and it's the best thing ever. A small issue however is the portability of this tablet. It's much larger than the 9x12 drawing space, with it's boarder its actually 15x14. It also does not work on a dual screen system.
I highly recommend this tablet for professionals and beginners.
