Great Value!
|
Pros: Lightweight. It recharges my iPhone 5 and iPad G4 quickly.
Cons: Automatically shuts off once the power draw reaches a minimum level. This is also normally a pro to prevent needless self-discharge. On occasion, one would just assume that it stay on anyway without having to use a dummy load.
It was a lifesaver on a recent cruise in which the cabin had an extremely limited number of AC outlets in inconvenient locations. I was able to charge the battery pack from a 500ma USB charging port built-in to the cabin during the day, and then use the battery pack to recharge my iPhone 5 and iPad G4 at a high rate on the outlet-less bedside table each night. No outlet by the bed meant no clock near the bed other than my iPhone. Something has got to wake me up each morning for the excursions.
Another note: Monoprice has adopted the widespread industry practice of quoting the rated capacity of the internal Li-Po battery, which has an inherent nominal voltage of 3.7V. After the internal power supply boosts that to 5V, the effective capacity is at best 3700mAh less some percentage points of power supply inefficiency. Since everyone else quotes the somewhat irrelevant native Li-Po capacity (because it is the more marketable higher number), rather than the more useful Wh capacity (in this case 18.5Wh), one must compare Apples-to-Apples with the 5000mAh rating when comparing with other products with Li-Po batteries.

Very handy
|
Pros: Charges just about anything more than once. It's compact and easy to carry. You can use existing cables.
Cons: Takes a very long time to charge. Charger not included.
I have tried them all: hand cranks, solar powered, mini-chargers, but this one does what it says: it will charge your phone, tablet or game more than a couple of times. My wife and I chaperoned a 24-hour school field trip on a bus. I bought this device especially for that occasion (I also camp out on weekends). It charged my iPhone, wife's Android and son's Android and iPod on one charge, and then had enough to give my iPad a boost. No regrets.
I recommend charging it with a 2.1 amp charger as it will need a few hours to regain full charge.

good value but not for low-power devices
|
Pros: Cheap, also provides 2.1A output, 2 USB outputs
Cons: Doesn't work for low-current USB-powered devices without modification (see review), i.e., circuits that draw less than 100mA of current.
Haven't had it a long time, but appears to work fine to charge devices that draw a lot of current, but beware of devices that draw very little current. If it falls below about 100mA at any time, the auto-shutoff timer will start, and in 60 seconds it will turn off if a 100mA current isn't drawn from the battery again.
I found this out using my DVM and running some tests with some USB powered speakers, which only draw 15mA in a quiescent state. This was causing the pack to turn itself off within about 60 seconds, unless I adjusted the volume so that current draw peaked over 100mA at any time within a 60 second interval.
A 50 ohm (1W or higher) resistor in parallel with the +5V and ground of the USB power should draw the 100mA total in the circuit to keep the pack on. If you want to bypass the auto-shutoff altogether, you may have to use between 25 - 50 ohm resistor in the same way. 25 ohm should draw 200mA at 5V. Of course this will make the battery drain more quickly.

Good pack, but not 5000mAh
|
Pros: Works well and properly charges iPhone, iPad, iPodTouch, etc.
Cons: Using a computerized battery tester, this pack only supplied about 3500mAh of capacity. Take quite a while to charge as it only charges at a slow rate of 400-600mA.
Good pack, feels good, good capacity (but not quite the capacity as advertised)

Pros: Great device especially when traveling. I could have used this when I was at NYC as my phone died on me and had to go to a cafe to charge it. The light indicator makes it easy to determine when the device requires charging.
Cons: Does NOT stipulate anywhere on the instructions what methods of charging is feasible. I am not comfortable with using any power adapter to charge it therefore I use my laptop to charge it. However, I don't like to leave my computer on when it is not in use. The instructions should provide information as to charging options for the charger. Otherwise I would have provided 10 stars.
I would definitely recommend this charger. I'm glad it is also RoHS compliant. I bought 2 since the price is very reasonable. I have purchased severals items from Monoprice and have not been disappointed. I only ask that the instructions for these type of devices are stipulated.

Works Great!
|
Pros: - Long lasting. - Simple to operate. - Does what it says it will!
Cons: - None
I took one star away because the first device I received was defective. It charged my iPhone but I could never get all 4 LEDs to light up, only 3 of them. It would sit on the charger for 24+ hours and still nothing. Monoprice was AWESOME though and sent me a replacement without me having to ship my defective one back first. They provided a return label for the defective device and the new one worked perfectly. Thanks Monoprice!

Pros: Rugged
Compact
Reliable
Provides hours of backup power
Can power multiple devices at once
Cons: None
After looking at backup batteries three times the price, I am so glad I ordered this device. It charges fully in a matter of a couple of hours using a generic USB cord. It also provides hours of backup power for my Iphone, tablet, and laptop. Perfect, not just for the airport, but when commuting in my car. It is sturdy and compact-about the size of my IPhone-and fits conveniently in my purse. No bells or whistles it works exactly as advertised. I highly recommend this accessory.

2 out of 2 Not working.
|
Pros: reasonable price for the number of watt hours.
Cons: First one had a loose charging connector after 6 months. RMA was needed. Second one would not charge after 5 days of trying. - DOA Very expensive when you factor in the cost of RMA shipping a few times.
When working, it charges my phone faster than most wall chargers. With 2 tried and 2 died ( second one DOA), the probability of a bad product is high. With the second one charging for 5 days and just getting warmer without completing the charge cycle, I'm worried about fire hazard. - Not worth my money to pay for a return again. However - I still love monoprice's customer service, just not this battery.

Wow! Good stuff!
|
Good stuff! This is a great device and at a great price. I use it on my new Nexus 4, and it was able to charge the phone twice from under 10% to 100%, and then had some juice still left in it. I also used it on a long haul flight as a power source, and was able to power the phone for over 5 hours in total (ie. with screen on). Bear in mind however, that my usage pattern and phone's settings may have had influence on how the battery pack performed. Overall 5 hours is great, provided that the original battery in Nexus will not hold for 3 hours when screen is on. The only con is the size (the pack is almost as big as my Nexus 4), but I know you can't get around it. It's physics. But hey - what do you care if you're sitting on your behind on a 10-hour flight? You just slide the battery pack in your pocket, or into that newspaper compartment on the seat in front of you, and you don't even notice the size. To sum up: this battery pack is highly recommended. I paid $50 on Amazon for a replacement battery for my previous phone. I wish I had known about Monoprice then...

Great little device!
|
Pros: Lightweight. LED indicator. Elegant design. Simple one button operation. Two USB ports. Micro USB cable included.
Cons: None so far.
IF I had to nickpick, then 1) It takes a long while to recharge. 2) No clear instructions from the manual on recharging this unit, could have said it can be recharged from PC or from your cellphone charger.
I bought this when Monoprice had their customer appreciation sale, thus it was a great price point. I am really satisfied with its performance. This unit came charged, so I charged up my 10% battery life HTC Droid DNA, then use the rest on my first gen iPad. Both charged up nicely, with the iPad only getting topped up since it was only half drained. So far so good. I planned to get more when this go on sale again.

Awesome Charger!
|
Pros: Compact and holds a lot of power (with respect to a phone). You can charge two things at once. Although I haven't specifically counted, I'm sure I can get at least 3 full charges on my iPhone 5, and it charges the phone very fast. Now, as far as my iPad 4 is concerned, the iPad will suck this battery dry, but that isn't a complaint, just an observation. I love this charger and very highly recommend it to everyone.
Cons: Take a long time to charge this, but just set it up before you go to bed, and you will be fine in the morning. Not really a complaint, so much as an observation.

Ordered two, one was faulty
|
Pros: Solidly built, nice construction, nice design.
Cons: Ordered two, one was faulty.
I ordered two of these, one works great with no issues. The second one never completes charging. The fourth LED charging light never stops blinking even after 24 hours on the charger. It also seems to charge quite a bit slower than the working one. I saw at least one other report of this in the reviews, so if you see this, the unit is faulty and you should swap it out.
Other than that, I love this battery pack, can't beat it for the price, nice design, high capacity.

Safety net!!!
|
Pros: Fast charging Multiple devices at the same time Stops when full Lightweight
Cons: Doesn't charge connected devices when the battery pack is being charged. (makes sense)
My phone is required for my job. If I run out of juice, I stop getting paid. Some areas with poor reception will drain my phone battery rapidly, and this definitely saves the day. Even if I forget to charge my phone the night before, this will save me. This is an outstanding tool by all accounts. Just be aware that if you are charging the battery pack, you can't use the pack to charge another device at the same time. If you're a road warrior of some sort whose phone is mission critical, get this backup battery, the two port 3.1A car USB adapter 10071, and the appropriate USB cables for your devices so they're both charging at the same time when you're in the car.

Reliable, sturdy charger
|
Pros: Good footprint, can charge multiple items, long charge time.
Cons: It does not appear the 2.1A performs a full charge on android devices
Overall, I think this is a great item. It's useful for keeping my Nexus S and/or my Nexus 7 charged, or to recharge in a pinch. A simple, clean design, it's easy to fit in a pocket alongside a phone.
That said (and as I think others have noted), the 2.1A does _not_ seem to perform a full charge on android, but rather does a simple trickle charge. This can be readily demonstrated in android by plugging it in and navgating to Settings About Status. When plugged into the 1A port, the device will read "Charging (AC)". When using the 2.1A, it will read "Charging (USB)". The former, of course, is preferable, as USB is a much slower charge.
The device still does its job well enough on 1A, usually, but other reviewers are correct in their observation that the 2.1A port does not appear to keep a Nexus device charged, at least not if it is under heavy use.

Great Groomsmen Gifts
|
Pros: Charges my Samsung phone and Nexus 7 at the same time. Other devices in the family: Blackberry, iPhone 3, 4S, and 5. Charges ALL without missing a beat. Auto shut off when unplugged. Designed to prevent accidental turn and subsequent drain on as well.
Cons: None.
I carry two in my backpack, one for simultaneous charging of my android phone and Nexus 7 tablet to use scoring baseball games for my high school age son. I carry the other because parents around me are fascinated after seeing it and ask to borrow it when their young children want to play games on their iPhones and they can't find an outlet at the ball field. On a side note, I bought 7 of these for groomsmen gifts and everyone mentioned how this was the best and most practical groomsmen gift they had received.

Couldn't ask for a better Product!
|
Pros: Quick Recharges Amazing Capacity Soft Rubber Feel
Cons: You can't charge the backup and a connected device at the same time.
I bought this for a week long business trip I was going on, and I knew I would not have consistent access to an outlet or car charger.
I was amazed at the speed it recharged my device(iPhone 4S). I went from 25% to full charge in around 20 - 25 minutes.
Then I was impressed again by the crazy capacity of this thing. I got around 3 full charges and only drained the pack to about 50%!
This thing is well worth the small amount of money it costs!

Disposable Batteries are a Better Buy!
|
Pros: Works well for a few times
Can also be used as a really cool looking paperweight for your desk when it stops working
Cons: Stops Charging after about 5 or 6 cycles
I bought mine last fall to use as a battery back-up for my iPhone 4S. It worked well for about 5 or 6 charge/discharge cycles, and now it will no longer charge. It has been useless for the past couple of months. I have tried multiple micro USB cable, and several USB wall chargers to try to get the darn thing to charge, but it just sits there with its cool blue LEDS illuminated and refused to charge!
Let's calculate this out. I spent $30 on an external battery pack. It would charge my iPhone twice for each time I charged the battery pack. I got 5 or 6 power cycles out of the battery pack before it died, so that works out to about $2.50 to $3.00 for each charge of my iPhone.
At least it looks cool and hi-tech as it sits on my desk with it's blue LED's!

Excellent Value
|
Pros: Great capacity and operation for the price. Micro USB for charging the unit - no proprietary cord to lose. Easy to operate. Multiple outputs for phone and tablet
Cons: None
I searched for a back up charger for a while because I needed something to keep my phone alive during long days traveling. Late in the day, I was able to fully charge my GS3 and Kindle Fire HD so use on the plane ride home. Otherwise, I'd be stuck looking for an outlet at LGA, and that's like finding a needle in a swarm of ornery passengers. Highly recommended for travelers.

Cons: None that I've found yet.
This is one of the nicest "bail-out boxes" that I've gotten for anything. I do quite a bit of air travel and on a couple of occasions I've found myself, due to my own stupidity, with a nearly run-down iPhone and iPad. Now I don't have to worry. While watching a movie on a long flight or using in-flight internet I simply don't worry about losing power. The simplicity of the battery pack, with its status LEDs and single switch make this a "must-have" for travelers. I wish some of my friends in the Northeast part of the country had these during this February (2013) blizzard. I like it!

Does not work with Nexus 7
|
Pros: - Good size (about there size of a 2st gen iPod, external hard drive or a thicker iPhone 4 - Charges iPhone 5 well (1 amp output) - Good Monoprice price
Cons: - 2.1 amp output does not charge the Nexus 7. While watching a movie with the Nexus 7 plugged into the 2.1 amp outlet, the battery percentage was actually decreasing instead of charging.
I wish I read the reviews before purchasing. I bought the battery to use on long flights and it doesnt meet my expectations.

disappoint

Pros: price
Cons: it takes long time to be charged and only can charged a little bit
I bought it about two months ago. I didn't use it very often maybe one or two times a month and now I cannot stand any more. I charged like about two day to make the led light not flash and then I charged my iPad about 4 mins the four led became three led, when the charger became to the one led it only charged 30%... thats really weird I don't know if this is the only case.

full 1a charging with android
|
Pros: 1a output charges my android phone at 1a (AC). Mega plus.
Cons: the 2.1a port only charges at 500mah on my android device. I havent tested an android tablet, but considering they operate in the same way, i'd bet this port is pretty worthless to anything except an iPad.
also, nitpicking a little, but if the corners were rounded it would fit in my pocket better.
great little charger. i can get 2 full charges out of my Galaxy nexus. Since the 1a port charges at full 1a AC, it's like plugging it into the wall. the 2.1a (ipad) charger only charges at 500mah so it probably wont charge an android tablet any faster than plugging into a computer will.

NICE!
|
Pros: Charges phone just as fast as wall charger, if not a little faster. Nice finish to battery pack, good quality. Can be recharged via micro USB USB Cable is included Outputs power via USB, meaning you can use any cable with a USB on it.
Cons: I dislike the iphone-like button design it has, obviously this does not effect the function of the battery but just comes off as a bit tacky. If you own an iPad or iPhone I guess it goes nicely together.
Great product. I use it to recharge my Nexus 4, since it does not have a removable battery. Fits nicely in my jacket. I noticed that my phone charges just as quick as having it on the wall charger! Perfect when on the road too. I cant comment on how well it charges a tablet because I dont have one.

Great Device for the price
|
Pros: Great size matches iPhone 4s Compatible with standard cables Micro USB and USB Capable of multiple charges
Cons: Slightly better documentation on max input
I purchased this unit to be used while camping/backpacking and it proved very useful. The size is great as it matches my iPhone 4s and fits nicely in a pocket. I was able to get two full charges plus additional use time while hiking and using the navigation on my phone.
The device shows an input of 5V/800mA max. After contacting Monoprice Support, I was informed the unit will not be damaged and will only charge the battery backup faster if using a source that outputs 5V/1A which is the output of an iPhone power adapter. This information would be very helpful on the printed instructions. Other than that, this is a great product.

Surpassing quality product
|
Pros: Not enough good to be said about this spare battery pack that is shirt pocket portable. So simple to use, and what power with 5 Amp Hours to run, charge and /or idle my smart phone
Cons: Only concern is that I didn't buy one of these for all my friends and family for Christmas.
This product is an absolute must no matter how much battery life they promise you at the store, online or in the brochures. Yes, it cannot be made any better in my humble opinion.

|
Pros: Great packing size. Can charge up to two devices at once.
Cons: None as of yet.
Have had this product for about a month. Seems to work just fine. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. In fact it sometimes recharges my phone faster than some outlets I've used.

Great Product, works well
|
Pros: Small size Easy to hook up Works just as described
Cons: Long time to Charge Instruction sheet
Small size, yet can fully charge an iPod/iPhone easily. Haven't tried it on an iPad. Love being able to carry it around in a coat pocket. This thing saved so many people last year when I was at a location where the power went out and everybody's phone died. Those with USB chargers were sold on it!
A few concerns: Long time to fully charge (overnight), but I'm pretty good about remembering to plug it in. Also, like many Monoprice items, the instructions aren't all they could be. I ended up typing up on the computer, the basics of which USB slot to which in which case and taping that to the bottom of the charger. Works, but it would it be nice to have one made for the product that you could attach.
Overall I'd recommend it and buy again.

solid product
|
Pros: Does what it says it will. I get about two full iphone re-charges from one fully charged unit. Very easy to use, not too large and very reasonably priced. I bought one for myself and liked it so much I bought several for employees gifts this Christmas.
Cons: Would be nice if it shipped with an AC charging option. The included recharging cable is USB only so requires charging from your computer. However, I've also discovered that I can use the iphone AC cube when I want to charge it from an electrical outlet.
Overall great product. I've recommended it several times.

Disappointed
|
Pros: Small, portable.
This worked great for a few days, then it stopped taking a charge. I've tried to charge it using multiple devices and cords. It's a brick, which is disappointing since I've come to expect high quality items from Monoprice branded items in the past.

Pros: Price, quality, shipping, customer service (I should buy this stock)
Cons: None
Sleek, black battery charger for Iphone5 and the IPad, at a terrific price. The charger actually increases my IPhone battery while I am using it. It takes so little room, I don't have to worry about loss of my IPhone any more. Monoprice did everything they said they would: fast shipping, great price and good customer service.

Great battery pack!
|
Pros: USB port Compact 4 LEDs to show state of the battery
Cons: None
I bought this to replace my 2200mAh battery extender that I bought from Monoprice 3yrs and 2 mos ago. That one still holds a charge and works well enough to recharge my iPhone 4 almost 2 times a charge. Unfortunately, being a technogeek I expanded my toy collection to include an iPad, another iPod Touch, and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.2. The 3yo battery extender only plugs into 30-pin Apple devices. This one has a USB port, so I can recharge my non-Apple devices as well! It has more than 2x the power for a reasonable price (I bought several on sale, so was 1.8X the cost). I gifted this to several of my friends who were always borrowing my battery extender and they are loving it as well! Note: these all came fully charged.

Great Product
|
Pros: Sturdy construction Looks Great Easy to use Full charge to most devices
Cons: Irregular charging speed Battery storage amount decreases quickly over time Won't charge some usb devices like tablets
The product looks and feels like a great product. Sometimes the unit will charge my cell phone in 5 minutes and other times it will be on for an hour and raise it 5 percent. The unit itself doesn't take that long to charge, maybe 2 or 3 hours, but the longer I have it the more it tends to run out quicker. The product should come with a wall plug to charge it. Other than that It's a great product that does what it claims to.

5000 mAh batter pack
|
Pros: Size, finish, simplicity. LED indicators are SUPER helpful in determining charge level of the battery.
Cons: None that I've encountered.
It arrived today and it was fully charged, ready to provide a charge to my iPhone 4S. It's working perfectly. Another review said that the instructions weren't detailed enough - I disagree. They were perfectly understandable to me and I had NO problem getting it to work right away. I'm eager to use it on long airline flights! I ordered it while my iPad was down to about 30% on a flight 2 weeks ago. I like the size, look, and so far, the performance of the unit. It's GREAT insurance in a small package. Thanks, Monoprice!

Compact life saver for the whole day!
|
I bought this one and took it to an oversea trip. Worked great the whole trip and charged iphone twice like other have said with some juice left. I also used it to charge our MP3 player. I bought this one instead of the bulky 9531 9000mAh because it is much easier to carry around. The only complain I have is the 1amp ubs slot is a little difficult to get in. I don't know if mine is defect or not but I hardly use the 1amp usb at all.

Pros: Small Lightweight Portable Commuter Must have
I take the train to work everyday and this is a life saver, no more needing to worry to charge my phone before I leave work or the office with this device. My own portable re-charger. Long battery life, does exactly what it says and then some. Charges my iPhone twice 0% to 100% and then some juice left over for the iPad without having to give it a re-charge. Amazing.

Good stuff
|
Pros: Reasonably small form factor (it's about the size of my HTC EVO 4G in its case), 2.1A USB port for quick charging, LEDs offer a decent view as to what's going on, textured surface keeps it from slipping out of hands.
Cons: Holding the button down for a while to kick off the charging process isn't terribly intuitive (but not impossible to figure out), textured surface prevents it from slipping easily into or out of a little carry bag I have for it and the coiled-cord.
I have an old smartphone with a languishing battery and occasionally, I recognize a runaway app too late and am left with a low battery. Yay. I've purchased a few of these over the years and this one is my "daily" carry. I rarely have to charge it, but it works quickly and well and while there may be smaller ones out there, this once seemed to be a good $/mAh.

Pros: Long life. Quick charging of devices.
Cons: Maybe I am just using it wrong (not sure how) but it seems to have a habit of shutting off before device is fully charged. And by device, I mean e-cigarettes.
I bought this mainly to charge electronic cigarettes while I am camping and hiking. Does the job great. I bring two with me for a 3 day camp out and have yet to kill the charge on both of them while also charging my iPhone for 3 days as well. Going on a week long hike on the AT and will be ordering two more so I have 4.

Great price. Works fine so far
|
Pros: Good value compared to other batteries.
Cons: Instruction manual could be more detailed. You have to press the round button to deliver power and to start the charging process.
Works great so far, but only took it on one trip. I'll update if performance changes.
Question: Battery input is 5V (volts) /800mA (milliamp) max on the back of the battery, which indicates we should use a 5V/500mA USB 2.0 on a PC. But the iPhone and iPad wall chargers also have a USB connection, which deliver 1000mA and 2100mA respectively. Will this battery limit itself to 800 mA if we connect to these wall chargers? Or should we avoid connecting this battery to these wall chargers because it could damage the battery?

Great Backup Charger
|
Pros: Small and easy to carry, easy hookup, charges my iPhone well, just easy to use.
Cons: Not a clear instruction pack with the charger and that is the only reason for a 9 score instead of a 10. I was able to figure it out easily, but I can see how some could have problems and get confused.
Since I use my phone to work and have no way to keep the battery charged while using an app for two hours at a time, this battery pack is indispensable. I have had this charger for three months and I love it. So far, very dependable. I purchased one for myself and later for my husband. I have and do recommend this charger.

Excellent External Backup Power
|
Pros: Excellent little external power pack for my Android Bionic. It's the same width and about 1/4" shorter than the Bionic. It comes with a usb cable that can also be used with AC power plugs. I carry it in a plastic ziplock bag with my charger and a 1 ft power cord from Monoprice. The backup power and cable also easily fit in a small hip pack if you''re out for a walk. I timed a couple of charges and it took about 2 hours to go from 5% power to 90% but you can use your phone while it charges. It took about another 30 minutes to go from 90% to 100%. It still had enough power for a second charge.
Cons: none

Cons: Only lasted a month before it stopped holding a charge.
Worked as advertised, for about a month. Upon which it would claim to be fully charge, but only charge my device for about 30 seconds before being drained. Would not recommend unless you have very short-term needs.

Not sure if the battery pack is recharging
|
Pros: High current output
Cons: Documentation is sorely lacking. There is no information provided on how recharge the battery or what the status indicators mean.
I received the battery pack an immediately plugged it in to a wall USB charger to top the battery pack off. Three of the four LEDs were fully lit, and the 4th blinked, which I took to mean that it is charging. I let it charge all night (over 8 hours) and in the morning the 4th LED was still flashing. I contacted monoprice support (via chat, which is a very inefficient way of communicating. It took 5 minutes to get the question I asked answered. The rep answered three other questions that I didn't ask first before finally understanding what I was truly asking. A phone call could have had this answered in 30 seconds. Needless to say I am not happy with monoprice's support system) and was told that when all of the LEDs are lit and none are flashing the battery pack is fully charged. So I plugged it in to a wall charger (1.8A) overnight again and in the morning - the 4th LED is STILL flashing. In all I provided it over 28800 mAh of charge, which should have been enough to charge a 5000 mAh battery. This leads me to two possible conclusions:
1) the customer service rep doesn't know how this battery opperates and misinformed me on the operation of the LEDs during charging, or
2) my battery pack is misfunctioning and cannot fully charge.
I'm giving this a rating of 8/10 since the documentation is lacking. If it turns out that it doesn't work I'll come back to adjust my rating accordingly.

Pros: 2 USB ports.
Works great. I have used it several times. Charges iPad, iPods and cell phone. While on 4.5 hr roadtrip, I had the 2 kids both iPods in backseat with this plugged into both iPods and it kept the iPods at full charge. While travelling for work, I can keep iPad and cell phone fully charged throughout travel. Finding a free outlet or charging station in the airport is almost impossible. When I do I usually don't a close seat to it and have to watch my device closely. I don't have to do that anymore as I have this charger in my laptop backpack and just have the cables coming out on my case chargig my device while I am using it.

Problem with cable
|
Pros: Very good battery with lots of power
Cons: The cable has become unreliable and does not work consistently
Like the battery but it needs a shorter cable that works.

Pros: Sturdy, compact
Cons: Not intuitive
I purchased this to take on a vacation as a backup power source for iPods and smartphones. The lights help indicate the battery's charge level when the unit is charging.
The only issues I have with this is the length of time to charge the unit and that the website and the packaging do not indicate how to use the power button. I had to contact Monoprice tech support in a panic, as the item arrived shortly before my departure, and I couldn't seem to get the unit to charge a device. Once tech support advised me that one must connect the device to be charged and then to push and hold the power button until the lights come on, the device has worked well ever since.

|
Pros: Was able to charge my iPhone 3GS 4 times before it needed charged. Nice design. It was a great price.
Cons: I can't fing one thing wrong with it.
This charger is perfect for my bus ride to and from school, since my phone dies quickly.

Great Product!
|
Pros: Sturdy Construction, Great Battery Life, Looks Great, Works on most usb powered devices.
Cons: Doesn't work on my tablet, which is probably my fault. It does keep it running considerably longer, but you have to keep it plugged in the whole time.
This product is great and it charged the several different phones that I tried on it in a decent amount of time.

Pros: Cheap, holds enough for several phone charges, two ports is often useful, seems to have an auto-off
Cons: Takes forever to charge, UI is non-intuitive
Works pretty well, but after you plug it in you have to make sure it is charging the device, since with one button it's often unclear if it is "on" or not. Takes an eternity to charge but when providing power, can be completely drained in a fraction of the time.

Works as described
|
Pros: Small, uncomplicated, charges iPhone & iPad at the same time, charges iPhone 3-4 times before it needs charged itself.
Cons: Nothing really
I have found the charger extremely useful and I've had not problems with it. I always keep it in my laptop bag for the inevitable time my 4s runs out of battery late afternoonish. Works perfectly just as described. Great product.

Great Device
|
Pros: This device will charge your iPhone at least twice without recharging Portable, you can take it anywhere with you Fast charging for your phone
Cons: You have to provide your own cable Recharging the battery pack can take a while
This is a great device at a great price, i originally bought it for my long distance bike rides so I can have music at all times and now it's part of my everyday to go kit which i carry with me everyday.

Pros: Sleek black fingerprint-resistant case Large capacity Charges iPhone and iPad quickly.
Cons: Takes forever to charge battery pack unit.
No included cables to charge devices like other units on market Needs carrying case to keep charger protected from accidentally going on and to hold accessory cables
Description is accurate. I think my unit might be faulty since it takes over 24 hours to charge (light stops blinking). Micro-USB charge cable is a pain since most of my other devices use mini-USB
Accessory charging cables would be nice - cheaper unit on overstock has all cables same 5000mAh for a lower price

Nice little unit
|
Pros: Works
Cons: Micro USB charging reads max 5V @ 800 mA so using the small white iPhone charger that puts out 1000 mA may cause problems.
Press and hold the button to begin charging, seemed to have all 4 LEDs light out of the box and gave my iPad from 1/4 to 3/4 charge, a battery that is listed at 6930 mAh that's not bad. Monoprice needs to make a 6" USB to dock cable and I would have bought one with this, they make adapters but I'm worried about the durability, any extra size isn't needed.

Highest quality at the best price
|
Pros: Charges any device that charges with a USB cable. Charge at 1 Amp or 2.1 Amps. The iPhone will charge on either, it just charges faster at 2.1 Amps. Great for all-day bike trips using speedometer/mapping apps.
I bought this before going into the hospital for a heart procedure that would take almost a week. The thought of not being able to charge my iPhone was a problem I needed to solve. I heard about Monoprice from The MacCast podcast, and I couldn't be happier. It's small, light and simple to operate. If this external battery pack needs charging, you can plug in your iPhone and charge both at the same time. Another reason I bought this was to extend the iPhone's battery life using GPS tracking with Cyclemeter (my favorite Garmin-replacing bike app) on my bicycle. Now I can go all day with the screen on without worry (Hint: turn off Skype, Wi-Fi, and push notifications while out on the lonesome road.

Works great
|
Pros: - came charged (make sure you read instructions you have to turn it on to charge items) - shuts down when an item is charged to save it's batter and prevent damage to other battery - lasts a s-word long time I had my phone my itouch and my friends phone charge on it in one day off of the same charge. - plus 10 for style blue LEDs on black groovy - charge meter depleted evenly didn't all go in last 20 minutes.
Cons: - make sure you charge via a plug to recharge faster - after initial charge the length of charge seems to go down but not incredibly
all in all very good.

Excellent!! Great for the beach/park/the great outdoors!
|
Pros: Super lightweight!!
Roughly the same size as the iPhone 4S. It's basically the same height, but it's slightly thicker and wider. Still fits in a shirt pocket or back pocket with room to spare and is about the same weight as the 4.9 ounce iPhone 4S.
Cons: None
Charged BOTH my iPad and iPhone 4S from almost nothing to almost full! It's been a while so I can't remember specific percentage increases and I won't lie just to make something sound good when it already is good! I highly recommend this. I just ordered Product ID: 9531 which is a 9,000Mah battery back up AND smaller than this one. That's ridiculous! The only thing I see wrong with this one is the fact that it appears to be made to charge a single device as opposed to TWO devices! I'll post a review on 9531 in a week or two.

Pros: Less expensive than name brands lightweight and portable good capacity stays relatively cool to touch keeps charge well for many days
Cons: Inaccurate gauge yet another cable to carry (to charge)
Nice to have extra power for the phone or iPad - this certainly has enough "boost" to fully recharge an almost-dead iPad 2, even while using the iPad. Easily recharged two iPhones with some juice left over. The charge gauge seems to drop slowly, then very quickly at the end - charged two iPods and still indicated "half", but could only charge a third identical iPod to 20% on remaining charge. Would really appreciate either a built-in charging plug or an integrated cable for charging

Awesome!
|
Pros: Excellent price! Small size and weight.
Cons: Battery does take a while to charge up.
I am really happy with this purchase! The battery is about the same size as an iPhone. Excellent for traveling. Great price compared to similar batteries from other companies. It is realistic to get 2.5 - 3 full charges with my iPhone 4S. The battery can take a while to charge up, but not a big deal... I keep it fully charged so I can just grab-and-go. Thanks Monoprice!

Pros: Nice design, About the same size as the iPhone, easy to use.
Cons: None found
I purchased this to charge my iphone via solar panel /voltage regulating circuit l I made. The panel charges the batt during the day, and at night this unit charges my iPhone. Simply awsome! For two months now it has been keeping my phone charged. It works flawlessly.

Nice backup batter
|
Pros: Decently compact (not tiny though). Lots of battery life for my phone.
Cons: 2.1A port apple only?
The battery pack is a nice compact size. Not totally small, but there are limits if you want a lot of battery life, which this gives.
Supposedly, Apple does not properly follow USB charging specs. In turn, accessory makers tend to follow Apple because of pure numbers. Unfortunately, this means devices that do follow spec might not work. The 2.1A port does not work with my Nexus 7, but does w/ a couple of iPads I've tried. My EVO 3D charges as well. The 1A port works with everything. However, I can't tell if they are all at the proper rate or just defaulting to 500mah.
Despite that, I'd recommend this because dual ports wasn't a necessity, just neat to have. I don't carry two cables anyway.

Great portable battery
|
Pros: Large capacity, fast charge times, small form factor, great monoprice build quality (as usual), decent price
Cons: Remembering to pack a USB cable
I love this battery and I actually wish I had more reasons to use it. I only have two complaints: 1) It can take a while to charge it in my car, 2) having to carry around USB cables.
The first problem is likely just as much the fault of my cheap power inverter. The second problem is less annoying when your devices use the same type of USB connection the Battery uses to charge itself. My android phones use this connector, but my wife's iDevices do not (though I hear they are moving towards either micro or mini USB).
Another great product by Monoprice!

Why haven't you bought this yet?
|
Pros: 2.1a plug 5000mah Conveniently small Durable
Cons: Doesn't taste like bacon
This was purchased for a 10 day trip to the third world. With it, my iPhone (in airplane mode) and Kindle Keyboard stayed powered for an entire week without any form of grid power. iPhone usage was light, Kindle usage was heavy (wireless and light)...both required one charge from empty during the week. This battery indicated half full after charging both devices.
This battery also powered my Novatel MiFi 2200 nonstop for 12+ hours of heavy usage on a different trip. Quite a handy little thing to have!
This is a 500mah battery...the iPhone has a 1400mah battery. With charging overhead this battery should (and does) charge an iPhone twice from completely empty with a little juice to spare. In practice, you phone probably won't be completely dead when you charge it...it's realistic to expect three charges out of this thing.
This battery works perfectly and costs significantly less than comparable products. Monoprice, please make a 10,000+mah version of this! When you do, please ship one my way immediately!

Excellent
|
Pros: good price, size, and weight charges phones/tablets quickly quality seems good
Cons: -included USB cable is short -2.1A port wouldn't charge nexus 7, but the 1.1A would charge it
I have an Android phone with relatively poor battery life and this battery pack really comes in handy when travelling. It charges my phone quickly even when I continue to use the phone as it charges. My Nexus 7 tablet only seems to charge from the 1.1A port. The short cable can be annoying when charging the battery pack, but the length is good when charging the phone on-the-go. The battery pack is made of plastic with a soft-touch texturefor the price it's an excellent product.

Pros: Small, fits in a small bag. Charges android phones, iphone, ipad without any problems. Charges multiple devices at one time and quickly. Ordered 2 because I knew my husband would want one and sure enough he did. Great price.
Cons: None that I've found.
Great product especially for android phones that need an extra charge before the end of the day. Nice to have when you can't be near an outlet, but your gadgets need some juice for playing your favorite games or making calls.

Defective unit
|
Pros: This is a nice looking compact and light weight unit.
Cons: The 2.1a port is not working properly.
Can't tell if the unit is on or off?
The 2.1a port is not working properly. Someone else reviewed that this happened to them and it also happened to me. It won't charge my Blackberry Playbook tabelet or my Apple Ipod Nano. Seems to charge for about a minute then just stops.
Also, not able to tell when the unit is on or off
I need to return this unit.

Pros: Not to big Recharges any USB device I have, Ipods, Ipod touch, Andriod phones, usb lights, it's great. Charges devices multiple times. simple to use Cheap.
Cons: I ordered 3 and one was bad, only charged something for 2 minutes and then quit. But, the awesome Monoprice support sent a replacement in 2 days, and paid for the return of the defective one. New one works great.
I bought three of these to support the family on trips. They work great so for. I bought the 4 USB plug from Monoprice, product 8856. It charges all three at once. The batteries do everything they should.

Works well, charges fast
|
Pros: charges phones super fast, small(ish), all USB, comes with a microUSB cable
Cons: input is only 800mAh so it does take ~5+ hours to fully charge the battery on the charger. Would be nice if it came with a wall USB jack.
I'm extremely impressed with how well this works. I got it for my Wife's Galaxy SII, she seemed to kill the battery after a days use. She keeps this charger in her purse and when she gets the dreaded "connect your charger" it's not a problem. I haven't tried charging two devices at the same time with it yet.

Pros: Lightweight (I have the ZAGGsparq 2.0 and it's heavy!)
High Capacity
Cheap (comparable devices would be $100)
Great design
Cons: Takes time to recharge
Doesn't have a built-in plug. You'll need a separate charger (but that's why it's light! The ZAGGsparq 2.0 has a built-in charger but it's costly, bulky and heavy!)
I tried several options from Monoprice and other vendors. This is the best in terms of value+performance!
