Awesome buy!
|
You can't beat the price on this for what it does! Unlike the others I don't have a problem with the name on the case and I think the simple plain leather case lets the real jewel "your iPhone" shine all on its own. And having that extra battery life is such a relief for those who really use their iPhone! I love this and would recommend it to anyone... and have already!

iPhone portable battery a great buy
|
I'm giving this a 10 not because of the quality, but because of the price and it works great. You can't get any simpler and easier and cheaper. Anyone who uses an iPhone knows that you can use up the battery quite fast. This is great when traveling to extend your connection time.

Decent
|
This is good alternative to carry with you ..I usually carry the i-phone in separate leather case..so i have to put it in this cover to charge it. Works for me..might be little difficult for those who use it in separate cover. Its a decent solution and the cover is made well..so looks like a proper cover and ppl cant make out its ..extended battery.

Don't spend $80 on Mophie...
|
I spent $80 in the Apple store on a plastic battery case made by Mophie. It is fine but the leather case from Monoprice is superior. It has a larger battery and a cover over the screen. Only two downsides: 1) it won't sync while charging and 2) it makes the iPhone marginally larger. Neither of these are enough to worry about given the $60 price savings. And I am NOT an employee of Monoprice!

Gives iPhone Kick A$$ Battery Life
|
Received my case on Thursday. It charged up in ~ 1.5 hours as advertised.
Plugged the phone into the case and flipped the ON switch at 9AM on Friday. Used my phone heavily (browsing, texting, video, pix, games, WiFi/Bluetooth on) while skateboarding around SF all day.
I did not start tapping the internal battery until 10PM. Finally a power source that lets me use my iPhone the way it was meant to be used.

Awesome
|
I've had one of these for about a month. It makes using iphone so much more reliable as I always have a backup power supply. Plus its a nice protective case and I use it when I put my phone in a bag. Originally I bought this for my wife, but after borrowing it for a day never gave it back. Monoprice went out of stock, and had to wait until now to buy another one.

Great
|
This is the best case/charger there is and i have had about 7 of them. Its great!! May get another. No worry about a charge pack coming off. A tad bulkier than others but hey, it has to house a battery. Built like a German, make that a Russian tank!!!! Looks classy so it goes well when you are dressed up. No lights, charges w/o interruptions, Did i say it was great?

Perfect for when you are on the move
|
This case works great for my purposes, especially when I hike with my family most week-nights. I can typically get through a day on a single charge but topping the day off with Geocaching can be really iffy. In this scenario GPS & 3G data use can put me right into the red and or shutdown and I need to maintain access for work. This case allows me to fully recharge my phone while in use and still mobile. The only suggestion I would make is possibly make a belt attachable version with a more secure cover for hiking/climbing sometimes I need to free up my hands and not fill up my pockets.

Great Battery Case with Protective flap
|
Hesitent to get case at first since there were no reviews. Got it anyways as it was the only battery case with a protective flap for my new iphone 3gs.
Pros Battery doubles life of iphone 3Gs that drains faster water through a course seive. Just turn swith to ON to have case charge iphone when low. Leave switch to ON before connecting cable and you can charge both your iphone and the case. One piece case. Nothing to break or fall off or loose like those pretty battery case with a bottom and top At 20ish dollars it is like the battery is Free since more cases with flap without battery costs 20ish dollars anyway!
Cons Comes in Black, looks utilitarian and won't win any Design prices. Something you would show your friends how much you save instead of how cool it looks. Case can be more ergonomic and smaller if they wrapped the case more tightly around phone and remove the airspaces, especially the edges. A wider flap hinge could prevent the flap from sliding side to side easily (Hint hint for version 2.0!)

Well worth the price
|
Well worth the price, even a little more. Like some other reviewers have said there is room for improvement. A charge level indicator, no monoprice logo, and iphone syncing through the case would make it amazing. would be willing to pay $30 for that version. overall still great! and dont forget to order a couple of the matte screen protectors as well(great value and glare reduction!).

Excellent!
|
I gave it a 9 because it isn't perfect, but for the price, it's wonderful!
This case fits my iPhone with the Invisible Shield just fine - a little tight at first, but it's stretched to fit perfectly. I have had the other type of backup battery that just plugs into the bottom of the phone, but the problem with those is they are ALWAYS loosing connection to the phone! When I think I am going to need more than average battery life, I can just put this in this case and leave it. It makes the phone a little thick, but not unusable.
I also love the fact that this uses my iPod cable. Most other battery packs charge off a mini-USB cable, so that's one more cable that I have to carry. I honestly would have paid more for the device if it offered pass-through syncing (so that I could sync my iPhone without taking it out), but that's a minor complaint. If you leave the iPhone in the case, turn the battery off, and plug it into a charger, both will charge overnight with one plug and one cable - a wonderful plus for travelers!
I don't think I'd carry my iPhone in this every day, but it definately found a place in my kit bag. And there it will stay.

Hurrah!
|
This battery is so much more useful than batteries costing three times it's price. i originally purchased one of the almost $100 battery sleds, the Mili. I loved my Mili but it doesn't physically turn on and off with a switch. There is some built in intelligence that is supposed to control what is charged and when if the Mili has an iPhone in it when you plug in the charging cable. Unfortunately that intelligence never reliably worked and my expensive battery could suck my iPhone's power down to zero even when it was connect to the mains. This can happen with the Monprice battery but it almost never happens and can be easily avoided. Just by using the on/off switch for the battery everything is so much more low tech you can control when things are happening and by and large a human being still does that best. It works, it's cheap, it works better than the high priced competition. That's about all you can say. Not as colorful as the Morphie or the the Mili, but it works.

Great Service on Account!
|
Not only is this battery charger the least expensive I could find, it was shipped right away - no hassles! Although my first charger didn't work properly, the team at Monoprice quickly resolved the issue by sending a new one immediately, and providing easy to follow instructions and labels for the return on the malfunctioning unit. My new one arrived before I could mail out the old one (great turn around time) and it works perfectly. The product didn't come with instructions, or suggestions on charging which is the only thing I would recommend as improvement... otherwise, it's a great product and seems to be just what I needed! Thanks Monoprice!

Great price and product
|
The price is great and the product is great. I get about 1.5 charges out of this thing. A plus is that it uses the standard iPhone cable. Other brands have a special cable or a USB charge cable. This just means I only need one cable on my desk. The only thing missing is a battery strength meter. Other than that, the flip cover in a nice bonus. I've had 3 coworkers order then after they saw mine

Leather Case w/charger for iPhone
|
I purchased the leather cover case for my iPhone 3G because there was not only a cover case but an external battery. The unit is a very nice addition to anyone's iPhone. One problem I have with the unit is there are no instructions on the function of the battery charger. I believe I've figured it out but it would have been nice to have a short notice on where the on/off switch should be while charging, etc.

Great battery life, great price, protection just OK
|
I have used this on my iPhone3G. With the case on a full charge, it can charge my drained iPhone approx 1.5 times. Not being a fan of the lint-magnet properties of the silicone cases I appreciate the texture of the case. Also, the case isn't all that big considering there's a battery in there. The hole for the camera lens is a nice thought.
The front part flips over to protect the screen and secures with a magnet. This would be good, but it makes you want to hold the case by the sides and flip the case open to use your phone. The problem here is when the phone is docked inside the case it doesn't secure very well and will come flying out if you try this 'flip the cover open' maneuver. I learned that the hard way. Also, if you plan on using this in conjunction with a silicone or hard-plastic protective case, forget it. The phone/iPod has a snug fit when docked into this thing. Its a shame it is not snug enough to prevent it from flying out when you want to swing open the front protective flap. For me, that was almost a deal-breaker.
However, being such a great portable charger, I just keep this baby handy if I plan a long day of heavy use and don't want to have to worry about finding a charging station. If I have to go away for a couple of days, or for just worry-free geocaching, it makes for a great piece of mind.
I prefer to use the inexpensive hard-plastic cases for every-day protection. The bummer is to have to remove that case to use this one for charging, but again, this case is so cheap for the quality extra battery that it is worth it to me.

Great Product
|
I saw this charging case when I was finalizing the financing for a new vehicle. The person explained to me that with he was getting 4-6 hours out of his phone charge and 4-6 hours out of the charging case which was news to my ears!!
The charging capabilities are awesome on this product. I would prefer the case to be less bulky, but the design is great and it keeps the phone in place and does exactly what it is suppose to do. I took the charger and my 3GS on a hunting trip and with minimal use over the weekend it lasted almost the entire weekend.

decent

decent contruction. ergonomic. has spots cut out for all the needed spots and even has little microphone and sound redirection ports so it doesnt block it.
battery does work and charge. but does not seem to be as good as it should. i can a little over 1 complete charge with this. i use the iphone as my mp3 player on my motorcycle and this battery gives a huge increase in distance i can go before it goes dead.
for the price it is a good deal. its a good case and battery combination and would recommend it.
WARNING!! when you charge the battery in the case, disconnect the iphone from the case or else the wall charger heats up very hot and pops the little internal fuse inside the usb to wall attachment. then you have to unplug it and let it cool to use it again.
i wouldn't sync through it either although you can.

Pretty nice case all things considered
|
It's nothing life-changing, but it's actually a pretty nice case.
It adds about an inch to the total length of the device and just about doubles its thickness. It's remarkably solid and the connection flap seems pretty securely attached. As pictured, there is a hole so you can use the camera while the phone is in the case, but it's difficult due to the screen protecting flap needing to be open to use the screen (to snap the photo). There's no actual clear screen protector, only the leather flap that covers it when closed.
The battery plugs into the charger port as the phone slides into the case. I've run my iPhone 3gs down to 8% battery before turning on (via small toggle on bottom right of interior if case) the back up battery and it's been charged back to 100%. The device was even in use meaning this should more than double your battery
I've had it 2 weeks and it's in perfect shape. I recommend you purchase this for your iPhone!

Works with Ipod Touch if you can live without earbuds sometimes
|
My iPod Touch (2nd Gen 16GB) fits in just fine. Only problem is the headphone port on the Touch is on the bottom by the charging connection area, so the earbuds can't be plugged in while the Touch is in this case (The placement by Apple of the headphone input by the charging connection was stupid in my opinion - makes it hard to disconnect the charging cord when headphones are plugged in regardless of what you are using to charge it) . Overall, it still works for me okay because I can live with no sound or use the built in speaker for some apps while it's in the case and charging. I keep it in the case when I carry it around in my backpack, so it provides some protection. When I need the earbuds, I just take it out of the case. Battery life seems to be good and I would say it at least doubles my Touch's battery life.
For the price, it's a pretty decent protective case that also provides back-up battery power. I like it.

Key missing element - belt holder
|
After reading about this case on TUAW site, I was sure it was a winer. Seemed perfect - battery backup, protection for the iPhone, etc.
But disappointment has set in after it arived. It looks nice, seems well built, but someone forgot to mention that it doesn't have a was to put it on your belt. You have to carry now an extra large sized package either in your pocket or a bag, and not easily on your person.
Sure, you have a battery backup to recharge, but the phone is now awkward.
Also, the lether flap that protects the front of the one gets in the way of the camera lens when taking pictures unless you hold it off to the side.
This case may be used when I travel, but it isn't part of my daily routine now that I have actually seen and used it.
Disappointed and out $20.

Case is a 2 star, battery is 5 star.
|
I'd love to give this a 10 rating, but the case really is pretty poor. The phone clicks in ok, but the cover is pretty worthless. On my 3gs 16gb it doesn't go down far enough for the magnet to grab, and even if I push it down the magnet barely holds it closed. It really needs like a button down there or something to keep the flap over it. With the way the flap works if you drop it the corners will get beat all to pieces. I dropped mine in this case and now the iphone case has seperated slightly at the top right and I have to squeeze it to get the top button to work.
Also it needs a system on the back of it so that you can attach a clip for it to hang on your belt or pants. The case makes it large enough that it's a bit uncomfortable in a blue jean pocket, so being able to hang it outside the pants or on a belt would be awesome.
1. put a little dangling piece of leather down that attaches with a button on the bottom 2. Put a system for attaching a belt clip on the back. 3. Charge more for that model, I would pay it, and I'm sure a lot more people would too.
4 PS. on the inside flap I'd love to see a place to put a business card, or a few business cards.

Good protection but could be improved
|
This is a decent quality unit and provides good protection. But it makes the phone significantly larger and heavier, and there is no belt clip, so you have to carry it in your pocket. A belt clip would make it more practical. Also, the phone will not charge through the battery pack. You have to take the phone out of the unit to charge the phone itself.

So ugly it hurts
|
While yes it does extend the life of my iPhone significantly more than other battery packs this devices does it in two ways. First the 2200mAh battery is a real help. Second it will make your iPhone so flipping ugly you will never want to take it out in public therefor saving lots of battery life. I will charge up this case and leave it in my car/bag to use in emergencies, but no way am I leaving it on all the time.
