It Works!
|
Pros: It works as advertised. The cables themselves are plenty long (for me), and the connectors seem to be good quality.
Cons: None.
I recently upgraded from an old tube TV to a plasma HDTV. Although the Wii does show its limits when viewed this way, I still wanted to have component video (instead of composite). Other places were selling the "official" version of these cables for an absurd price. Monoprice's price was so good, I bought two (seriously).

Cons: Wish it was 9' instead of 6'

wanted better looking netflix

Pros: excellent length. durable looking. easy to connect and disconnect.
I bought a nice TV on Black Friday but my Netflix looked better on my laptop than on my Wii. I thought maybe a hardware update would help and it totally did. My Netflix looks better on my TV than my laptop as it should.

Unreliable, low quality

I bought two of these as an upgrade for my Wii and my girlfriend's Wii. Only one works reliably the other one will randomly cut out with little warning, then come back just as suddenly. The connections aren't super-tight, but they don't seem to be the problem. I'm pretty sure it's where the connectors meet the wiring on the TV end. Order more than you need, in case one is faulty like this. We're using the one, and it does a great job, but I've had to switch the other Wii back down to the stock cables. Disappointing.

these cables are clean and exactly as advertised, as usual monoprice delivers! put it on my HDTV and the image quality improved a lot. there are some pixelated around the edges of some objects in games, but that's the wii's limitations, not the cables fault.

Cons: Size - a bit bulky
Bought this to help with a voice sync issue with my Vizio TV per an online forum recommendation. The cable works great and has minimized the sync issues (a problem with the TV not the cable or receiver). Only negative is the diameter size of the cable, but this also makes it feel more sturdy - so in my eye a good tradeoff.

Hard to beat this deal

Perfect length for my A/V setup
Provides a good signal between my TV and the Wii
Cons: Would prefer to have RCA plugs labeled in addition to being color coded.
Just installed this between my new LED TV and my trusty Wii console. Connections are all nice and snug and the fabric sleeve surrounding the cable is a nice touch. The signal between the Wii and the TV is great, so no complaints there. I did have a little trouble differentiating between the audio channel connectors and a couple of the video connectors at first, but I got it connected right on the first try. All In all I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Not shabby at all for under $3.00!

this allows you to go from standard def to hi def in 480 p using component connectors. Good quality cable for cheap and it did brighten up and clear up some fuzzyness to the games. I have a DLP TV and its not a big difference but I'm sure with a better hi def TV it would pop even more. I wonder if Wii will ever run on an HDMI cable? I guess this will have to do until then.

Pros: great quality. works great for the people who's TV does not support HDMI, because this will give you the highest resolution possible, perfect for the Wii U

Finally I can use my Wii U in HD. 1080i and 1080p both look awesome. Make sure to set the Wii U resolution settings to the right resolution.

The price is unbelievable.
The cable is very flexible.
Delivery was as advertised (i.e. quick)
Does what a $50 converter will do for you.
Cons: Absolutely none!
Its does't get any better than this. This cable works like a charm on my son's new Wii U. Just remember to read the Wii U instruction book to set up the tv correctly after connecting the 5689 to its component video ports.

Just bought a 47" LED HDTV for the game room and wanted to up-grade my Wii connections to take full advantage of the Wii console. Have bought cables from Monoprice in the past with nothing but good experiences so looked to see if I could get this cable here. Not only is this a better cable than I can get local but it costs 1/6 the price. Ordered the cables on Thursday evening and got them on Saturday afternoon. Can not be more pleased with this cable, works great!!

A Wii will never be truly high-definition, but the composite cable will make it as compatible with your HDTV as it is ever going to be. Set to HD and widescreen in the Wii menu and enjoy. The results are better with cartoonish content than the few Wii games that reach for a more realistic look. For example, Mario Galaxy looks fantastic, but Tiger Woods 2007 still suffers from grainy backgrounds and muddy colors. That's not the cable's fault, thoughthe games' graphic designers took different approaches to the Wii's limitations. TW2007 still benefits tremendously from switching to composite, but the above issues remain, plus it is still difficult to tell a 6 from an 8 in the too-small-for-analog font used in several places (such as the leaderboards).
As noted above, the one drawback I found with this cable was that the color coding between the 3 video and two audio cable ends was such that you had to be careful not to mix up the red audio cable and the red composite video cable. Some more clear distinction between the audio and video cables would have removed that potential problem.
The best feature was, of course, the price! The cable itself was less than the shipping, and the shipping was cheap!

Excellent value.
Cons: Cord is a bit stiff so it can be difficult to coil up the extra in a tight space.
The Wii doesn't do HD, but component video is a noticable improvement over the standard composite video cable. Well worth the price.

Pros: The price is right! The cable works like it is supposed to, fits the WII properly and far less expensive than ANY of the other options out there. Even if I have to pay for a replacement (which I shouldn't have to because of the lifetime warranty) it would take SEVERAL paid replacements to add up to the cost of an official Nintendo (or any of the other off-brand) cables.

Not much to say other than it is a cable. It works. The price is right.

Best Wii resolution you can get!

Looks great on my Sony Bravia 55" LCD. Really noticed it on the Lego-themed games - you can actually see the expressions on the characters faces. When connected to my smaller 26" inch LED - the clarity is even more amazing. Easily a 50% better resolution. Brighter colors and almost zero blur. No-brainer if you love Wii but hate blurry, fuzzy graphics. My 6 & 9 year olds noticed the difference right away.

I bought this we I could easily move the Wii between rooms. Have not had any problems with it and the quality is good.

Pros: Excellent quality cables, fast shipping.

Cable Works Fine

Pros: Cable works fine and came quickly.
Cons: Thought the increase to 480p would show a drastic difference. Thought wrong.
If you need a cable, monoprice is the place to go. Just know what to expect with this Wii Component cable. The picture quality is not a huge jump from the regular cable that comes with the console.

This cord is nice. My experience with mono price both times have been great shipping wise and quality wise. This cord performs just like more expensive cords may even perform better. Comes in a net jacket which makes it more durable.

These cables work fantastic. They came through on my TV as well as any set of component cables I've seen for the Wii. I played through The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword using these and I have zero complaints. Cable is sturdy and of good workmanship.

Better than the others
|
Pros: best image from Wii I've seen. Colors are spot on.
Cons: cord is a little stiff.
I own 3 Wii cables. The original VGA which is a blurry, pixelated image with mediorce colors. A component Wii cable I bought in 2007 which is better at colors and clarity than the VGA. And now my new Monoprice Wii Cable for my 2nd HDTV. The monoprice one is sharper with REALLY spot on colors and even seems more fluid in motion. Way worth the extra few dollars compared to a generic Wii component cable from amazon. This is as close as you're going to get with a Wii to HD. Not perfect, but it's noticable difference from my other cables - especially with Netflix and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The TV it's being used on is an Infinia LG LED series.

Beware if you have an AV system
|
Pros: Nice aesthetic, mesh coat, solid build
Cons: Terrible wiring lumped into a ball of plastic, cannot seperate audio/video cables by more than a couple inches
I bought this awhile ago and when I finally was able to upgrade to a real AV system, I found it wasn't possible. I'd seen designs like this before where, I suppose for convienance sake, the cables are bunched together by molds, but in this the wiring was just straight up balled into the mold so separating it just ruined it.
Really, really poor quality stuff.

Pros: Low cost, works as well as any other cable for 480p on Wii. Connectors and cabling appear to be of very high build quality.
Cons: (All of these problems are caused by the Wii's terrible GPU design choices, or by a mix of that and of the display device, not by the cable, or so according to what I've read and seen.)
Some TV's do not upscale 480p very well and introduce artifacts when using this. I've only used this cable for Skyward Sword so far, but have had lots of scanline-like artifacts on the main TV I use. (Sony KDL55EX500 bad TV for gaming anyways: poor scalar and analog processing, and annoying input lag even on gaming mode over 1080p HDMI great TV for watching though) On another TV I don't seem to get the problem due to a better scalar (and the fact that its 1366x768 instead of 1080p), but it's not always easy to tell which TV's manage component effectively. The main problem here is Nintendo's decision to not support any modern standards if HDMI/VGA support were introduced to the Wii, these problems wouldn't be there. (And nowadays, both standards are dirt cheap to support no excuse not to do so.)
In the end, 480p doesn't look very great anyways. It's a good step above 480i (a HUGE step on certain displays), but you'll still get a better picture from high quality over-the-air broadcasts. (Which is kind of sad IMO.)
Now, the only actual con about the cable is that it's a little stiff. It also lacks a composite connection which would make things more convenient and allow one to take the cable anywhere (to TV's that don't support component). However, these two issues are no big deal at all and certainly have no bearing on my decision to buy it.
Of course, as previously said, all problems mentioned above were mostly caused by the Wii, or a combination of the Wii and the display device. (Nothing to do with the cable itself.) I can say that I'm quite sure that the Monoprice cable is not causing any of the problems based on what I'm reading about the official Nintendo cable elsewhere.
In any case, despite all the problems, it's still well worth dropping a bit of money for the cable. That said, the Wii itself can only do so much. It's unfortunate because a game as amazing as Skyward Sword deserves much better hardware than the vastly outdated stuff on the Wii. However, this is the best that can be done now, and the game manages to maintain a nice artistic look despite the graphical issues.

Pros: High quality, thick, well made cable.
Cons: Cable is almost too heavy duty, more substantially built than anything else on the Wii.
If you have an HD monitor, and play the Wii, just get this. it's too cheap not to, and improves the video quality more than enough to justify it. Cable supports audio and video. Just REMEMBER TO SWITCH OVER THE SETTING IN THE WII, TO USE THE BETTER QUALITY CABLE, otherwise you won't notice any difference.

|
While the wii cant display True HD picture, the 480p component cables really help over the standard 480i cables. Colors are alot more vibrant and things are just ever so a tad smoother and less blocky. A good cheap component cable. For about $3 its hard to not recommend.

Picture Quality
|
Pros: Picture Improvement for pennies on the dollar. Why spend 50 bucks?
Cons: None so far.
I had to go to a buddy's house to see the huge difference this cable makes. I am one of those seeing is believing type of people. Just to make sure I took his cable and compared the huge difference on my own Samsung LCD.

This cable looks great. Nice jacket, feels durable. Connects just fine to my WII and television. I've had cable connector that are too tight, but this one is not. I didn't do any formal signal tests, but the picture from my WII looks great. And, you can't beat MonoPrice on price.

Perfect for connecting Wii to HDTV

Pros: Does what it says it does. That could be MonoPrice's motto.
Good build quality. Fits well, no weird bulges or cheap materials.
Very inexpensive compared to alternatives.
Cons: None so far.
Very good cable, much better picture through component than through the original composite cable.
Only downside is I guess over time as you compare to other consoles it becomes obvious that the Wii is non-HD, but that is hardly the cable's fault...

Wii Component Cable

Pros: Cable eventually worked.
Cons: Male RCA connectors, if that is what they are called, did not fit snugly on the female jacks of my TV. Required a fair amount of playing around to get a good picture from my Wii.
Seemed to have an issue with the connectors staying connected to each of my TV's jacks. They didn't connect over the TVs jacks securely. First couple of times I had to jiggle and wiggle to get a picture, and then even then, the color was off. I eventually squeezed all of the ends and reseated all of the cables and it works. Now I just need to make sure that none of the cables move.

strong connectors, good quality grip, quality is as good/better than what nintendo would have made. It really looks like it came out of the original manufacturers box!

I've bought another since this one, it works very well, and for less than the cost of lunch I've got a better image than ever before. I'm recommending this to anyone who doesn't have one already.

Great accessory to any Wii owners

Pros: It gives a clearer and more vibrant image for GameCube and Wii games.
Cons: Doesn't work if you don't have an HD tv.
I was searching for component cables for my Wii so that I can enjoy my games in a more detailed way. The different is so noticeable that it is almost mandatory to get this. If your a Wii owner and your looking to play your games in a whole new light then I would recommend using this.

Great cable, ups the Wii to 480p instead of 480i. It isn't a HUGE difference of the quality of the picture, but it is better enough that you can tell. The picture isn't so pixel-ly (I like to make up my own words for descriptions, heh) and your eyes don't have to focus as much on the picture. I would suggest these cables if you have a Wii and a HDTV. Great cables for an AMAZING price and unbelievably quick shipping, Thanks monoprice.com!!!!
