MPI C4149A Remanufactured Laser Toner Cartridge for HP LaserJet 8500, 8550 Series printers Black

Question: The cartridge does not reset toner/drum indicator when put into the printer.
Answer: Typically, when a toner/drum indicator does not reset, it is due to the “toner seal” not being removed, or improper contact between the cartridge and the printer.

One step to try is running the printer through a cleaning cycle before printing. Run the printer through a a full cleaning cycle (consult your printer's manual if necessary).

Should that not work:

Step 1.) Turn the power off to the machine.
Step 2.) Remove the cartridge from the printer
Step 3.) Ensure that the “toner seal” has been removed (if so equipped)
Step 4.) Gently and firmly reinsert the cartridge into the machine. Try this two or three times to make sure it is sealed correctly in the machine.
Step 5.) Turn the power on to the machine and allow it to restart normally.

Question: There is streaking or spots on the printouts or quality of the printout is poor.
Answer: There could be particles that settle on the imaging unit during the manufacturing process or during transportation that causes occasional light streaking or spots. These issues typically clear up after a few printouts.

One step to try is running the printer through a cleaning cycle before printing. Run the printer through a a full cleaning cycle (consult your printer's manual if necessary).

Should that not work:

Step 1.) Turn the power off to the machine.
Step 2.) Remove the cartridge and gently turn the cartridge side to
side 2-3 times to evenly distribute the toner.
Step 3.) Turn the power on to the machine and allow it to restart normally.
Step 4.) Print out about 10-20 pages of text or images from the printer. The streaking and spots should clear up at that point.

Question: There is toner powder on the on the cartridge or in the bag when the cartridge is unpacked
Answer: Remanufactured cartridge toner reservoirs are generally filled to full capacity for greater value to the customer. It is possible that some of the powder has leaked out during transport. This should have no impact on the operation of the cartridge and printer.

How to Fix:

Step 1.) Gently remove the toner powder with a dry cloth or with an air canister. Avoid damaging or scratching the imaging unit.

Step 2.) Insert the cartridge into the printer and run a few sample prints to ensure normal operations.
