Frustrating Router
|
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Completely unreliable (frequent disconnects on wired or wireless connection)
This router is almost unusable in wireless-N mode, due to frequent disconnects. It also disconnects about every half hour in wireless-G mode (this is still better than it performs in N mode). Why do products like this exist? Because I am dumb enough to buy them? I wasted about 20 bucks trying to save money on a router.
by Monoprice Administrator Hi,
Sorry for the issues you ran into with the router performance. We do offer a 30 day return policy and if you like I can see about getting you setup for a return. I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

It works but needs software upgrades
|
Pros: *Many different configurations *You can use it as a repeater wirelessly and wired *It's small *Great range
Cons: *Awful built in software to set up the router for different configurations *Performing a full reset sometimes takes 2 or 3 times to reset it
The setup process needs a lot of improvement. I wanted to use it as a wireless repeater without an ethernet plugged into the WAN port. All I wanted was to bring in a wireless signal and output a wireless signal with a different network name. I spent an hour trying to figure this out and then finally called Monoprice. And the only way to accomplish what I wanted to do was to follow a guide, which the rep gave me a link to. The guide was very detailed and it did work like I wanted it to eventually. But there are like 30 steps to do it. I have an Airlink101 AP671W that can do the same thing in 5 minutes with the provided software in about 5 steps. Monoprice you should really take a look at their software and create something similar to it. I can't recommend this router if you have any kind of different setup. If you're just plugging in your modem to it then you might be ok.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Ben,
My apologies for the problems with getting the router setup as a wireless repeater. We do have a bridge mode guide that will aid you in setting the router wireless through the WAN port. I have pasted the link below and if it prompts you for a username and password. Please enter "customer" for both. Once in you can go to 8070 bridge.

If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.

At the end it works perfectly
|
Pros: Works very well
Cons: Setup to Bridge was complicated
Before I purchased it I read all reviews and thought that I can easily set it up. Following directions, I got to point where I had to reset the unit. Despite that there are no instructions how to reset the unit, online support help me out. After multiple trials and errors and resets, it started to work and it works since. No interruptions, no problems. I had a thought to set it up as a Repeater as well, but I am not going thru the setup again.

Not even worth the $20
|
Pros: Good price, but it doesn't always function. It does put out a strong signal.
Cons: Unreliable.
I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1 for the price. Randomly drops connection when 2 or more devices are connected. When computer is reconnecting it takes about 10 to 20 seconds for the internet data to start working, even though it's connected to the wifi signal. I should have not purchased this router.
The interface to get the router up and running is not as bad as other people said in the reviews. I found no problem setting it up.
Almost everything else that Monoprice makes is of excellent quality for an incredibly low price - this product just doesn't make the cut. I will be returning it if I can't get it working reliably by tomorrow.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Jason,
Sorry for the problems you are having with the lan adapter. If you like and are still having issues with unit and would like to return it, please let us know and we can get an RMA setup for you. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Don't Buy
|
Pros: None
Cons: Everything
Do yourself a favor and flush 15 dollars down the toilet and don't give mono price the reason to keep selling these.
It needs to be reset a couple times a week, is slow, and barely covers my one bedroom apartment.

by bertoman33 from the reviews i see posted, it appears that the unit itself is just flat out defective. there is no firmware to update and fix the litany of issues this product has against it. it's a complete piece of garbage and i'm embarrassed to have given this as a gift to someone who relies on its operation on an hourly basis, 24 hours a day. i will never purchase another monoprice branded product ever again and will warn others against it. i'm not even sure if it's worth the effort of putting the item in a box and sending it back as a return.. it's just that terrible. since when should a wifi router ever have an issue turning it's OWN wifi antenna on???

Doesn't always work.
|
Pros: Easy set up.
Cons: Drops the internet signal at least twice a say.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with my specific router, my internet provider, or both, but walking downstairs to restart the router is a pain, and getting DC'd in the middle of games sucks to.

Cons: I configured it as both in "Wireless ISP" and "Bridge" mode on a different instance. It worked for a few hours and then the status of the WLAN interface changed to scanning (disconnected). This product is not acceptable to me.

Wireless N Router Product ID 8071
|
Pros: Easy to install. Light weight.
Cons: This wireless N router needs to be reset every day, sometimes several times a day.
I would not recommend this router to anyone using OS products such as iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. I didn't read the reviews where others had problems with having to constantly reset the router, until months after I installed it. It was inexpensive as are all the products that Monoprice sells, but among the hundreds of products I purchased over the years, this didn't meet the quality standards I had come to expect from Monoprice.

You get what you pay for
|
I purchased this modem after chatting with one of the reps online, my exact questions were as follows
Q: "Is the UI for the modem easy to use?"
A: "Yes very easy"
Q: "Will I be able to use it to extend the range of my network"
A: "Yes you can"
So I have ordered two to extend my wireless network in areas of my house where I get poor connectivity. 7hrs later and after 3 chats with MonoPrice still no connectivity. I have read the crappy 1 page (multi fold) manual that came with it (Useless), searched all over the internet for an actual PDF manual found nothing (i'm actually not even sure what the model of this device is as it has on number on the device and a different listing in the manual). And I have read a PDF called 8070_bridge_111026.pdf several times and no success. The steps in this doc are for a PC but I was assured (by a Monoprice rep) that it would work for a Mac. So now after it has killed my current wireless network twice (which has taken over 45mins to re-configure each time). I'm going to be boxing this up and sending them back.
I have provided a video below that details my final attempt to set up the modem.

Needs Firmware Update
|
Pros: Inexpensive. When hard wired, the router it works for most of the time. Overall good transmit and receive rate. Haven't noticed any bogging down with multiple computers using it at the same time.
Cons: The manufacture that makes the device has not updated the firmware once. The wireless is difficult to setup. I haven't figured out how to keep the wireless configured. The wireless will stop working after a few days as if it were on a schedule while the settings did not have a default access schedule. The router will randomly quit, forcing a restart to clear the fault. Sometimes the computers on the network will need a new IP address or restart before the router will function. Not once has there been an update for the firmware of this device.
I bought this router several months ago. Overall the hard ware is good, but the company that manufactures the device isn't interested in updating the device firmware.

Works good when it works
|
Pros: Works nicely when it works
Cons: Has to be unplugged and rebooted every day or two or it won't connect to cell phone
Monoprice was great with shipping and billing, but the router is not reliable. It works well for the wired connections, but has to be rebooted every day or two to connect to cell phones which is the main reason we purchased them.

Doesn't really handle DHCP correctly
|
Pros: Easy setup, small size, good signal strength
Cons: Doesn't follow proper procedures for DHCP addressing Updates not easily available (at least according to Monoprice tech support)
"Overflows" the DHCP address list too quickly, doesn't resolve address conflicts on the network properly, doesn't renew addresses with connected devices. As a result, it is often necessary to hard reset (power cycle) the access point to allow connections. Good thing it was really cheap...

Pros: Nice finish, cheap price.
Cons: It doesn't work.
So I bought this router shortly after it had gone on clearance. It came in rather quick and I grabbed the package on my way out the door to work (in an IT & Networking role). On my lunch break, I configured it as a wireless bridge using the instructions on the knowledgebase page.
Now, I had bought this for my printer, but I had decided to test it on my work laptop when I got home instead. So, when I got home, I turned off WiFi on my laptop and plugged it into a LAN port as I would for a wireless bridge. I did not receive a DHCP address from my ASA, which it should be connected to by way of my WAP (Monoprice 8745, which runs flawlessly).
However, when I gave my laptop an IP in the subnet manually, I was able to at least ping this new router. Unfortunately, any attempts to access it in the web browser resulted in a timeout.
Thinking I may have missed a configuration step or mis-typed my SSID, I went to go hit the reset button. The instruction manual makes no mention of the reset button so I figured I'd do the standard "hold it ten seconds" and see what happens.
Now I can't ping it, and I'm not getting a DHCP address.
Maybe I didn't do it right. Hold it down for 30 seconds. Nothing. Hold it down for 10, unplug it, count to ten while still holding it and plug it in and hold for an additional ten seconds. Nothing. Repeat the last thing with 30 seconds. Nothing.
I don't know if this thing is dead, if the factory reset isn't working, or if I'm just not doing it right. But so far I'm pretty dissatisfied with this thing. I've tried multiple Cat5 cables, power cycled it countless times, even went as far as to capture packets on it to make sure it's not sending anything to my computer, which it isn't...but that light keeps on flashing, mocking me by letting me know it hears me and just refusing to cooperate.

by Frederick Pocai Wow, the RMA process with Monoprice is certainly A LOT smoother than many other online stores. I swear the replacement one came in faster than the first, and I was able to get it configured as a wireless bridge this weekend, and it is working fine! Monoprice even sent a return shipping label, so all I have to do is tape it to a package and place it in a dropbox. This was faster and easier than even Zappos, who is renowned for their return process.
John, thanks for your help. I would love to submit a revised review (or even just add on the last paragraph to the existing one, but I'm not sure where to do this on the site. Thanks again!

Working as Bridge
|
Pros: Great price. Easy to set up once instructions were located.
Cons: Instructions on how to set it up as a bridge weren't included in package, but are in the knowledge base tab.
This is a nice wireless N router for the price. I bought it because it would also be configured as a bridge to get a copier/printer on my work network that was in a room with no Ethernet wiring. The set up was a little challenging since no documentation was contained in the packaging on how to do this. However, the knowledge based tab on the item had a customer service response that walked through the steps and were easy to follow. The device is working great as a bridge giving another room connection to my network without running cables through walls and ceilings!

Review update.
|
The Router lets you go all the way up to Channel 13 (I had it set to AUTO). Channel 12 and 13 are not supported in North America (At least with older devices.) I set it to Channel 11 and now all my devices can see the wireless. This info should be in the Knowlodge Base. I have incresed the MonoPrice score.

Ok for the price
|
Pros: Cheap. Lots of features
Cons: Spotty Wifi Lack of Firmware upgrade No documentation
Some laptop and phones won't even see it broadcasting. Firmware desperately needs upgrading. I run 2 computers wired, 2 wireless laptops and 2 phones over wifi. This router is NOT able to handle all of that. It you have only a single Desktop and laptop this is a good deal. If your like me I would stay way from this model. I love monoprice but it seems they did not do there homework on this one or I didn't do mine in purchasing it.

For now, if possible, please try a couple of troubleshooting techniques with me to see if we can resolve your issue.

Please let me know if the problems still occur. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement or a return RMA to see if a replacement will work better. We do have a lifetime warranty on non-electronics and cables as well as a 1 year warranty for electronics. And obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. Works As Advertised
|
Pros: Fast, Small
Cons: Clumsy UI
It works great. Exactly what I needed it to do. In the small apartment that I use it for the signal strength is excellent. Perfect, economical solution for a fast, bare bones wireless router. I don't need it to be a media hub or to create a small network. It does everything I need, and a lot more that I don't. The web based set-up page is a little clumsy and didn't always do what I wanted. I had to re-set the router a few times on initial set-up. But after that, it worked perfectly. There are plenty of advanced options as well.

Poor product
|
Pros: The wired connection is quick and fast
Cons: The firmware sucks. The wireless sucks. There are no firmware updates, it uses a poor realtek chipset,
Changing settings any setting such as your login password can break things. I have RMA'd this device and it the replacement is not better. No matter what settings I use, the default ones are the only that work, although I can change the ssid ok. The username is case sensatitive. The lack of documentation and upgrades is not there.
The wired network is quick and fast. The wireless aspect is worthless, frustrating and for me, useless

Very Frustrated
|
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Set up instructions not very clear. Disconnects constantly.
I am so frustrated with this dang router. It is constantly disconnecting, so none of my devices connect to it. I have to re-start it at least every couple of hours, sometimes multiple times in the same hour. Tech support said to try a different channel, which I did- but I think it made the problem worse. It looks like several other people have had this problem with this device, so you'd think there would be an easy fix.... My other experiences with monoprice have been good- but it looks like I may need to go find another router at best buy....

Cheap router that is intermitten
|
Pros: Great compact router with alot of features and a great price
Cons: Both my wife's and my iphone have a hard time staying connected to this router. I have to unplug it and it will sync back up. Then when I go out of range and come back in sometimes it won't pick up the wifi signal and I have to rest again by unplugging it, very annoying. Be cautious if you buy this

Good router
|
Pros: great price, good performance
Cons: has trouble connecting to my idevices
Set up the 8071 as a wireless repeater at other end of the house from my dlink router. does a good job of repeating the signal. I upgraded the antenna to boost it's output. Only problems I have had is my ipad and iphone have trouble connecting to it. When I walk in the room the 8071 is in, the idevices will not automatically switch to the repeater signal, I have to manually make them connect and then they seem to take forever to connect. when they finally do, all is good. The idevices have no trouble connecting to the dlink router. Monoprice has given me some tips to try and I will try them to see if issue is resolved. Anyone else having problems with idevices and this router?

It's Alive!
|
Pros: It works and I love it. After working on it for an hour it just started (the reason it was an hour was our cable provider was also having issues)
Cons: If you are new to setting up a router you might have a little bit of difficulty doing this.
I had to call tech support for a simple fix that was starring me in the eye. I guess when I get a new toy I get so excited I forget some logical steps.

Excellent Device
|
Pros: Price Web interface
Cons: Bridge mode setup PDF not available on web site... should be under "knowledge base."
Bought one of these specifically to use as a wireless bridge. Got a new network AV receiver but it wasn't wireless. Figured for $19 how could I go wrong, when the next option available elsewhere was twice that price. Plus, you know, Monoprice quality.
After reading the reviews here I immediately emailed tech support for the bridge mode setup PDF (before it even shipped). Once I got the router, using the instructions I had it configured and working in bridge mode within 10 minutes, feeding an excellent wireless signal to both my laptops (8MB down, 1MB up at 35 feet through a wall).
The next day I hooked up my new receiver, HDTV and Blu-Ray player to the router. All got a signal instantaneously - PLUS, with a wired configuration I did not need to input my wifi password on each device! Using the remote control to do that is excruciating. Streamed TF3 in HD via Netflix with no lag.
It was small enough that I velcro'ed it to the back of my TV stand out of sight (WAF bonus points.) Thanks, Monoprice!

Great Router/Access Point
|
Pros: Works perfectly.
Cons: No real instructions to speak of. Would be nice to have a website dedicated to the firmware/software installed and feature set on this great piece of equipment.
I have one of these working with an older XBOX as a bridge in my friend's house and another working as a main access point in another friend's house. Both work as advertised once set up.

small price... BIG PUNCH!
|
Pros: Works as advertised.
Cons: Lack of documentation. Short power cord.
This works fine. I needed a cheap router to bridge out to my main network. Due to the lack of a user manual, and/or online knowledge base, many settings are a bit elusive making setup difficult. I can't seem to get the "Universal Repeater Mode" to actually be used as an actual "Universal Repeater Mode", the Logout button/link doesn't appear to do anything but make you feel good about yourself, and for some reason you need to do a hard reset after several changes that require a reboot. Listen, I'm sure with a proper user manual, firmware, and/or online knowledge base these issues might be totally solvable. (just don't hold your breath) In the end, it's extremely affordable, and performs well as a bridge over 802.11x.

Great Router for the Price
|
Pros: Low Maintenance after initial set up. Works great as client, no problem with VPN connection.
Cons: Not much documentation, pretty detailed if you don't know much about routers.
I got the router to extend my existing network into another room with no more ethernet. It's tricky to set up, but tech support is very helpful. I got a very detailed PDF explaining exactly how to set up the router in bridge mode. If you can I would suggest asking tech support for this, as the instructions in the box are not very detailed.

Great Little Device
|
Pros: TONS of functionality packed into a little unit. Flexibility and features included that aren't found in routers almost ten times the price. Small device with nice aesthetics and indicators that are not too bright.
Cons: Was a little difficult to setup
I'm really impressed with what this little box has to offer. QoS, multiple VLANs, WDS and universal repeater options, client bridge mode, .... many features you won't find in routers that are far more expensive. I simply bought it to use as an ethernet bridge, which was a tad tricky to setup, but works like a charm once you get it right. Tech support emailed me a document that walked me through the process and helped me find the couple steps I had missed on my own. I was up and running within a minute or so after I referenced that.
If I need to set up more a more complex network in the future I will certainly look to one of these or its 300gbps counterpart in the future.
Thanks again, Monoprice!

Pros: Great price. monoprice helpful tech support
Cons: documentation poor but thanks to monoprice prompt tech support was able to figure out how to set up the router how I needed
I wanted to use this router to extend the range of my dlink router. Monoprice tech support emailed me instructions on how to set up as wireless bridge, and I followed the instructions and had it set up in a matter of mins. but then I stumbled upon the universal repeater function. clicked on it and it then was repeating the dlink's signal to the rest of my house. However my iphone and ipad cannot seem to stay connected to the monoprice router. Will connect and work fine for a few mins. then will drop signal. Never had that problem with the dlink and the idevices. Maybe I have something set up wrong, but kind of disappointed right now my idevices are having trouble staying connected. Other than that the unit seems to be a good router for the price. This was first purchase from monprice and will most likely buy again from them.

Be Warned
|
Pros: Sometimes works Easy Set Up
Cons: Slow Slow Times Out Slow Requires Reboot
Be warned purchasing this product. Sure, some of the time it might operate and transmit data for you, but you might as well have it connected to an old 56kbps dial up modem.
I have to reset this thing at least once and hour for it to operate normally. The speeds are just atrocious.
When trying to access the router to see what the heck is going on, be prepared for a bunch of screens like this http://imgur.com/YzjjQ and http://imgur.com/lou1p . It times out all the time. All.... The....Time...
I saw the price and couldn't pass it up, so I ordered two. Only one came with a working power supply. Monoprice sent me a new one and a packaging label to send back the non-working one. Better keep your box just in case. The other unit is at my parents house, so I'm not sure what if they have problems with it or not.
Overall: I'm giving it a four - hey it's allowed me to access the internet to post this, so it has some operational value to it, but I would not recommend this to anyone nor would I order another.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review. And I am truly sorry to hear of your experience you have had with this product. We will be taking your review into consideration so we can look into the PID#. Thank you for your understanding and patience in the matter.

Trusty Little Unit
|
Pros: Compact Good Range Good Price
Cons: For casual users, this unit is not as intuitive to setup as some of the bestbuy models. But there are lots of features that make up for that.
Great unit. Bought one for myself about a year ago and it works great. Bought the new model for my parents, no complaints. Very happy with unit.

Nice Basic N Router
|
Pros: Easy to set up. No goofy interface to get in the way or cause errors. I had this router secure and online in less than 10 minutes.
Cons: Very Basic Router - No advanced firmware options and no ability to give priority to streaming apps.
This is a great little basic N router. I bought it for my mother in law, who lives in a little two bedroom condo. There is plenty of signal in the condo and the yard. It is not the fastest router I have ever used, and it only broadcasts on the 2.4 GHz band, but it works and it looks nice. Fantastic router for the price.

Great little router
|
Pros: Relatively easy to set-up. Good range. Works great with my wifes' tablet.
Cons: Included documentation is somewhat sparse. The automated set-up wizard is ok but I recommend a little study first, especially in wireless terminology.
As a previous reviewer suggested, I replaced the stock antenna with a 9DBi antenna and the signal strength at a given location increased by 50-60%. They are readily available on Ebay for $5-$6. I wish MonoPricewe sold them (hint).

Pros: Low price, good range, does what it's designed to do.
Cons: Need to be deliberate about changing settings. I found that it works best to save the settings each time you change something rather than making a bunch of changes and then saving. A minor nit...
I bought a few of these to enhance the wireless coverage in a building that had some dead spots. I didn't want to spend big money on industrial strength wireless devices as the situation just didn't call for it. These units were fairly easy to set up when I was deliberate about saving the settings and once set up they perform well. I can't speak to long term durability yet, but so far all is well. You can't ask for better performance at this price point.

Great, affordable router, but occasionally requires reboot
|
Pros: High speed, connects to many sources, affordable
Cons: Sometimes requires a reboot
This router is one of the newer ones that use 802.11N which is the high speed speed that you'll need for high speed gaming. I have my Xbox 360 and Blu-Ray player connected via Ethernet cables and they are solid connections. My wifi connects to two PC's in two different rooms, and my Macbook which uses wifi from various locations, and it picks it up pretty easily. However, on my Mac I need to go reboot the router (unplug it, plug it in) to get the connection to work. Other than that, I find this router to be fast enough for video gaming, downloads, etc and I love it - just wish at 11:00pm after a long day I could avoid climbing out of my bed to reboot it. This MAY be an issue with my internet connection, though. However, rebooting the router (not the modem) always fixes it.

Quick, Inexpensive Router/Bridge
|
Pros: - quick, easy setup, if you've got a little experience with similar devices - small footprint - small lights on the front which are not obnoxious
Cons: - little detail in the instructions for the novice
We moved into a new house and have had to redesign our home network. I needed two bridges for wired devices to connect them to our network in two different locations. These two routers fit the bill perfectly (in fact, they are practically identical in UI to a Rosewill router I'm using for the same purpose in yet a third location). I am seriously considering getting a couple more (or the 300Mbps model) to replace the other two routers I'm using.
Only a USB port for use as a print server or to attach storage directly to the router could improve it.

very affordable and high performance

Pros: Works well and reliable. Lot of options including internet bridge. Affordable. Good signal strength. Easy setup.
Cons: Minimal documentation. No obviously firmware updates.
Overall this is a simple setup, high performance, reliable router. This is not the "best router in the world" but I have not seen anything else in the same price range that offers the same functions.

Gets job done for 1 device.
|
Pros: Works for using 1-2 devices but not at the same time. Cheap price
Cons: Good luck to you using over 1-2 devices. Using a 360, and two computers through it. DHCP Range and a static IP to the xbox out of the range with ports opened to that specific xbox's IP. Every 15 minutes the box gets booted off. Tried multiple configurations to no avail. Tech support did not help.
Have bought multiple things from monoprice and this is by far the worst. Sorry to say it. I will continue to buy from them but this has disappointed me very badly. Absolutely cannot handle a device requesting a static IP and then taking constant traffic through it.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you've encountered with this wireless router. This router should support multiple devices fine even if there's constant traffic going through it. Have you made sure its in a well ventilated place free from dust accumulation? If possible, please try using it normally and see if it gets warm prior to the box getting booted normally.
Also please let me know if you are using this with as a main router or using it as bridge of some sort for the Xbox.
Have you tried using it without a static IP? Does it still exhibit the same symptom? Please let me know, thank you!
John Lingo Tech Support
by Anonymous Thanks for the response! Yes the router is sitting on a desktop. I've used it on auto-ip assign however that restricts my NAT type. In order to open ports to the box i have to assign them to a certain IP address in the router's settings. This is the only router after the cable modem, its setup as a gateway.
If the ip is not static it works. If there was a firmware update that allowed you to open ports across a range of ip's or on the entire router maybe this issue would not be happening. Like i said, I like you guys and your products. I'm about to order a wall mount and shelf from you, but this product underperformed for me.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your response. I will forward your information to our complaints dept for an update. And I will be the first to notify you if we obtain a firmware update. Thank you!

Pros: Works as a wireless bridge. Reliable once set up.
Cons: Not very good range when used as access point. Lacking manual. Could not get it to work as a wireless bridge and as an access point simultaneously.
If you just want to have short range wifi, or if you want a basic wireless bridge to connect to a desktop, this works well. Setting up as wireless bridge may take a while to figure out.

Cons: None that I have found.

Small, inexpensive and works well
|
Pros: Small Inexpensive Comes with detachable antenna, network cable and small (non brick) A/C adapter Boots relatively fast Works as Router, AP or
Cons: Less than satisfactory instruction manual
I have an old HP LaserJet MFP that I wanted to share via the LAN. Since cabling to the router was going to be rather difficult or expensive, I decided to try this $20 device. Thanks to Monoprice it was at my door in no time. Since the instructions were OK for a typical router or standard setup but not as comprehensive for my particular need, I had to spend an extra hour to figure this out and in the process I also learned many capabilities and features available in this small but amazing device. Once I was done with the configuration, the Multifunction printer was fully functional exceeding my expectations for the Monoprice Wireless 802.N Router.

Not impressed at all
|
Pros: Works most of the time.
Cons: Doesn't work all of the time.
I would not suggest buying this product. It doesn't work from time to time and the only way I have found to get it to work is to unplug the power supply and plug it back in. It's not any faster than my old G router. The range is way less than my old G router. Not too happy I bought this thing.

For range, I would also try moving the antennas around to see if that will increase reception. There is only one and moving it does not seem to help or hurt the range.
I will keep in mind the 1 year warranty and let you know in the future if I need to return or replace the product. I am only home 3 days a week and for the past couple of weeks, it has been working ok the 3 days a week that I am home. The other 4 days a week, I just have to assume it is working unless my wife tells me different. She has not told me different so either 1) It is working 2) She has figured out a way to fix it when it stops working without calling me or 3) She is just sick of dealing with it and isn't letting me know it's not working.

Pretty good for the price... but...
|
Pros: Cheap Smaill Size Can be easily mounted
Cons: Needs to be rebooted every few days Lack of firmware updates
I bought two of these guys when they were running the special and have them working as wireless AP's only. Each one provides wireless coverage for about half the house and the coverage is strong. However, about once per week, half the house won't be connected anymore and I will have to reboot the corresponding wireless ap.
I would love to see a firmware update to help take care of this.

Pros: Dang near plug and play. Small. Simple. PRICE.
Cons: Huh? What Cons?
Worked as or better than advertised. Simple set up in secure, non-broadcasting manner and I'm not network savvy either. I don't know why people are concerned about firmware. As well as this little thing works, why would you need firmware update? I never updated old router. I think the guy having to reboot every couple of days has other issue. I ran into problem with other router once trying to connect too many laptops and had to reboot it too. Set router to accept more devices and problem solved.

Cons: - No firmware upgrade - Have to reboot it once every couple of days for Wireless to work properly (maybe new firmware (unavailable) would solve it)

Cons: I'm not sure there are any, but I'm not very heavy into networking.
A wonderfully simple product to configure. For me at least, some of the menus seemed overly verbose, but I do like that in any product. While it was overly verbose, it was not overly complex. I used this product as a bridge for an existing network. Performing admirably as we speak.

Great router for the price
|
Pros: Fast, reliable, great range. Easy setup. CHEAP price. You cannot go wrong with this
Cons: Nothing so far
Picked this up since our Linksys at home kept dropping connection and the range wasn't very good.
It's fast, reliable, has pretty good range and is CHEAPER than other routers that do the same exact thing. Quick and easy setup
We're going to pick up another one for work

Pros: Every thing that I expected. Coverage with WPA-AES is equal to a five year old Linksys while using WEP (unit is located upstairs and tested in a downstairs basement with a "good" connection).
Small size, about 2 decks of cards side by side.
Cons: *Missing instructions. *Difficulties finding firmware updates. *Wished it had a stronger signal
