Don't buy these...
Pros: Relatively simple to put together

Cons: You absolutely need THICKER cable to use these. They say 24 guage is fine, but I'm using a belkin 1000 ft solid strand roll of 24 awg and the little "knives" that cut the plastic sheathing are BARELY cutting through causing multiple problems.

I should have listened to the few that said don't get this - I thought I would be fine as the cable I have is the one recommended, but NONE of the 10 I ordered are making correct contact. Sigh.... Punch down is best!!

DO NOT USE. Seriously... DO NOT USE.
Pros: - Easy to follow colour codes

Cons: - Blades do not make contact with copper most of the time on ALL the connections.
- complete connections are not made most of the time.
- Very time intensive and a lot of fiddling around is required.
- If you do not have an electronic wire tester as I do which will tell you went contacts are not made and or mis-wires are going on... you will probably go bananas trying to figure out what the problem is.

MONOPRICE - _PLEASE_ do yourselves and us (the customers) a favour and pull this product. No I do not want a refund and I am VERY happy with you as a company. You are simply selling a crap product which causes frustration for end users.

For those looking to buy:
- Using these connectors take about 5 times longer to install due to the fiddling/fussing around you have to do to align the cables.
- Once you get the cables aligned you have to hope and pray that the blades make contact with the copper because if they don't... you have to pull the casing apart and start all over again including re-striping the wire.
- This is a horrible product. Do yourself a favour and get the regular punch down style. I have ordered/used these from Monoprice and they are great.
- The tool-less ones are garbage.

Not great
Pros: You don't need tools for it.

It seems that over half of the connections made I had to go back over to repunch down. I think I'll stick to the jacks that require tools.

I DO NOT recommand it
The price is good and color code is easy to follow and insert wires in the slots. However, when the lid is closed to make connection between wires and conductors (blade shape), the connections does not happen. The blade of conductors are not sharp enough to stripe the wire and to make connection. It is very hard to get connection with this device. Do not spend your time and energy with toolless keystone it is not worth it. Go with punch down ones.

Hello,

Sorry for the issues you encountered with getting the toolless keystone jacks to terminate properly. We do have punch down keystones as I'm sure you are aware. If you like and no longer have a real need for the toolless jacks I can issue an RMA for a return. I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Pros: Excellent quality
Very easy too install

Just receive them and i'm very satisfied with the product. Was a bit scare of the product when order but after receiving them, i'm very suprise of the quality and how easy they are to install. I install 16 of them in new house and all of them work on first shot.

One of the most difficult tool-less designs I've used
Pros: Price
Color Selection

Cons: Wire routing & piercing

Save yourself time, money and frustration, please buy punch-down jacks and use them with a punch-down tool.

The design of these modular jacks leads to incredible amounts of frustration in feeding the wire jacks, trimming individual conductors and painstakingly trying to clamp them down. The space is tight, the leverage required a fiddle extra piece of plastic (included) and it's nearly impossible to do every conductor in a single shot.

Crappiest Ever
Pros: NONE

Cons: Doesn't work correctly and zip ties are cheap and break if you tighten too much.

All jacks we wired with these do not work. We have standard 24AWG Cat 5e wire and the terminals on these connectors are not close enough together to pierce the wire and to make a connection...

Didn't work for me
Cons: Unreliable

I have experience using punchdown jacks, but I thought I'd give these tool-less jacks a try. I couldn't get them to work. After wiring them according to directions, a quick connectivity test showed that link couldn't be established. I tore them out and have never used them again.

Hi John, thanks for your reply. My solution to the problem was to switch to the punchdown jacks that require the 110 tool. As my review states, they work fabulously and I'm very satisfied with them.

You need proper tools/kit to create the in-wall connection to this jack. If you have those and you're somewhat electronically inclined, this is a great item for home networking. Works great for me!

Amazing, easy to use
Pros: Easy to use, fast, it works!

Cons: I don't like that the wires have to pop out a little, but that's not really a big deal

I am not a professional and I have never installed these kind of connectors in my life but I have to say that after installing 2 or 3 of these jacks I was almost doing it without looking. It is incredibly easy and totally recommended if you don't want to spend extra money on tools. Also, the prices and shipping is amazing.

Great Keystone Jacks
Pros: Phenomenal! Never had an issue with any cables that I put together with these jacks.

Cons: None

Did an install in a house and had to put in 20 outlets. These things worked wonderfully and are simple to work with. The units are color-coded which makes working with them very simple. They work perfectly with the Keystone Wallplates available on this site (even the one with six holes).

The perfect RJ-45 jack for cat5e
Pros: Very compact, ideal for use with crowded 6-way/8-way keystone wall plates.
Tool free installation.
Very sturdy once assembled with cable tie.

Cons: Included cable tie breaks easily regular 1/8" ties work fine though.
Tricky to assemble requires self-crimping of all 8 wires at once.

I've used a lot of keystone style RJ-45 jacks, and this specific model is my favourite.
Much less bulky than most others, so they fit into tight spaces better.

Highly Recommended, especially for use with 4-way / 6-way / 8-way wall plates.

Terrible for Stranded
Pros: None

Cons: quality

Used stranded cat 5e cable and could only get a bad signal from 2 out if about 50 pins used. Switched to a punch tool jack and everything worked! Save yourself some grief and buy a punch tool and the appropriate jacks. Stay away from this especially if you use stranded cable.

hmmmm not good
Pros: no tool needed to punch down

Cons: time consuming to connect, possible issues with the cut excess wires

Takes way to long to have to seperate all 8 wires before snapping the connection in place. Then if you do not cut the excess close enough you risk issues down the road with connectivity. I was very disappointed in the product :o(

Unhappy with product
Pros: The tool less design.
The ease of putting the keystone together with the three parts that come with it.

Cons: Does not work correctly most of the time from my experience. I've attempted ~10 of these.

I made one end a tool less keystone and the other end an RJ45 ethernet cable just for testing purposes instead of two tool less keystones leaving me scratching my head. I installed the tool less keystone and even looked up videos on Youtube to ensure there weren't any tricks and there weren't. This tool less design does not give a good punchdown and as a result will not work. Pay a little extra for the original keystone design and spend 10 bucks on the punchdown tool here at monoprice. Fixes all issues...

Thank you for your review. And I apologize for the inconvenience you've encountered with this keystone. Just to clarify, it is noted on the description that this is meant for solid cables. If you are using stranded it may not work well with these specific ones.

Thanks for the response.

I am using stranded cable so the product is likely not at fault. I am not sure how I overlooked that detail originally when purchasing (was it always bolded like it is now?) but it was a learning lesson. I will accept my faults and not return any items... especially since the time/hassle isn't worth the dollar or two received back.

Thanks again.

Junk
Pros: price

Cons: Bought two of these. Tried to use them on my cat5 SOLID cable. After about an hour one each I could not get pin 3 and 6 to work, on both. Tested with two different known good cables same result. Cable tested is known good. Something about the pin 3 and 6 that just wouldn't work. Not a huge deal I'd like to use the cat 6 sheilded cable I have and I noticed after these arrived that these are only for solid cable not stranded... I'll just have to buy some punch down types and use those. Not worth paying postage to send these back for $2.xx ...probably cost $1.00 to send back.

Pros: great price
pretty easy to work with (well, as far as fiddly little things go)

Cons: sometimes takes some fiddling to get all the lines punched in and working
for a lot of jacks, the tool version might be more surefire

Did a dozen or so of these in our house, and they seem to be working well. Took a few to get the hang of it. They snap in and out of Monoprice's keystone plates just fine. They don't come with a manual, or guide, or pictures of any sort, so be sure to check out the PDF on the Description page showing what's what.

There is definitely a trick to getting these to work properly. What I found to happen is I would get too excited with the black piece, using it as a punchdown tool to push the wire into the loading tray so it wouldn't come out. If I did that, the wire wouldn't make good contact with the metal when it closed because it was pushed in too far.

To solve this, I kept the wires pretty long, so that 2-3" stuck out the sides. Then I used a super cheap ethernet tester w/ remote to make sure they all worked. Any that didn't I'd use pliers and gently tug the excess wire towards the metal until it stabbed in better and made a good connection. Then I used Xcelite 170d *flush cutters* to trim the excess wire very close to the sides so none stuck out.

Sound like a lot of work, but that's because it is. Any wiring where you have 8 tiny wires in the space of your thumb is going to be fiddly. Speaker cables or even phone cable, it's not!

If I were doing it again I'd have gotten the tooled version so I could ensure good connections every time, and one more tool would not have added much to the cost. If you don't like fiddling with tiny wires or don't want to buy random tools, then I'd suggest sticking with pre-crimped wires and rj-45 female-female couplers and avoid the hassle altogether.

The old ones were better
Pros: Low price.

Cons: New design causes bad connection.

The old design (two-part) tooless jacks that monoprice sold were MUCH better than these. I'm not sure why they changed them. I've installed a lot of Cat5 jacks over they years and never had problems like I do with these. When following the directions and pressing everything to fit as the jack is designed, the insulation on the individual wires to not get consistently cut. The only way to make sure the connections get made properly is to cut the cable holding loop in the back and press the wires into the connections with a small screwdriver. This causes it not to be "tooless" and also not to snap closed, since the loop is cut.

Bad Contact
Pros: A few cents cheaper than tool jacks. Poor instructions.

Cons: 50% failure rate - even if you buy an expensive punchdown tool it will pay for itself on a larger job in time saved.

I purchased these jacks and wired a network with about 35 drops. I used Monoprice 1000 foot bulk cable which otherwise I've had no other issues with.

There really are no instructions that come with this product. There's a little diagram, but i have no idea what the black tool could be for, especially if these are tool-less jacks.

About 30-50% of the jacks I wired with these I had to re-do. Usually they would work fine by the 2nd or 3rd try. I wouldn't recommend these jacks. You get what you pay for: pay a few more cents for the tool jacks. You can get a cheap punchdown tool like the little yellow ones that come with patch panels, and a pair of sidecutters is all you need. I actually prefer that to using a quality spring loaded punchdown tool, I feel I get a little better results with the former.

John:

Per my review I have no final issues, but it simply takes too much labor having to terminate the cables multiple times until the tester shows no errors. When I re-do the cable I use the same RJ45.

I believe it will be counter-productive to remove these jacks and replace them when right now they are working fine.

Best regards,

David.

Okay jack
Pros: Cable tie included with jack allows cable to stay connected to jack without putting stress on conductors. Includes "lever" tool to give the required pressure to close the jack.

Cons: The jack is hinged putting angular pressure, as opposed to linear pressure, on the conductors into the contacts. It takes practice, but is still a little persnickety to get right every time.

I think "tooless" is a misnomer. I ended up using snips for the conductors and cable tie, and pliers to pull the wires down into the contacts solidly.

Poor Connectivity
Pros: Not punch down.

Cons: Wires don't need to be punched down is also the con.

Poor implementation. Having a jack where you have to punch down the individual wires means one is assured of good connectivity. But, with this system, there is no guarantee that the individual wires will actually come in contact with the connectors. The result: poor connectivity. Try to stream a high-definition video and see it stutter (I have a gigabit network). I even tried to re-do them over again but to no avail. I had purchased about 10 of these for my basement network. I will be replacing them with the punch-down variety. In the upper part of the house, I have Belkin punch-down jacks and never had any issues with HD video. For people who want their network working flawlessly, and those that want to stream HD videos from a home server, these are no good.

Works well. The black crimper that came with it helps somewhat. After installing the wires and trimming, they are still visible from the side but it'll be hidden under the wall plate.

Took 10 times the amount of time to use these versus the punch downs. Out of the 50 I had only 1 that verified the first time.

Good idea to avoid these (but Monoprice's standard jacks are fine!)
Pros: They don't look bad when you look at them, and seem solidly made... BUT...

Cons: Not only did these take MUCH longer to install than the standard punch-down jacks, I had LOTS of problems getting them to make all 8 connections reliably.

It's very difficult to line up all the wires, then close the clamp, and have all the wires stay in place. It can be done but it's terribly time-consuming. And then there's the problem mentioned above, that they often don't make reliable contact with the wires. The standard jacks are simply faster and actually easier to use (I have had ZERO problems with those and highly recommend them!).

junk - avoid at all costs
Pros: None

Cons: simply doesn't work

I've read the instructions, followed them to the letter, and not a single connector has worked. My cable tester typically shows that 4 or more wires have no connectivity at all. Very disappointed.

I have never had a single problem with any punch down connector, and I've wired thousands.

Avoid these if you value your time.
Pros: None

Cons: Didn't work didn't cut through cables right, after I pulled cable and wiggled sometimes I got some pairs to come up. If you have large hands forget about these. Avoid this product, returning it for a standard punch down type connector.

Don't buy this doesn't work well.

Difficult to get these to make contact
Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Difficult to crimp

I bought four of these for a cable run in my home with Cat5e bulk cable, and I had a very difficult time getting them to make good contact. With the wires in place, I could get the connector closed and snapped, but I couldn't get ethernet devices to connect over the cable runs. I tried squeezing the connectors closed with pliers to no avail. I eventually opened the connectors partially and forced each wire down into the contact teeth with a small screwdriver and snapped the door closed. After that, they all worked, but I spent at least an hour troubleshooting and fiddling with four connectors.

In the future, I'm going to stick to the tried-and-true 110-series punchdown connectors and spend $20 for a decent tool.

Get the punch-down type
Pros: Relative ease of use, but with serious caveats.

Cons: Ease of use is negated by poor design.

I ordered several of these with the intent of saving myself some money on a punch-down tool and any hassle involved with that process. I learned after attempting to terminate a few cables with these that there is a reason they are cheaper. Ideally the wires should be crimped and the insulation stripped enough when you close the "lid" that all contacts should touch the wires. Unfortunately this tool-less design doesn't result in a positive connection every time for all wires and so it is quite frustrating. I will be returning mine for the punch-down type jacks and buying a tool so I can be confident that my jacks will work reliably. I wish I would have read the reviews first!

New design is horrific
Pros: Nothing

Cons: You're supposed to stick the wire in the swiveling lid, but doing that makes it almost impossible to set the wires because it moves around. Plus, you don't have enough room to get all the wires in place. Then, if you finally do get them set, closing the lid tends to rip it out. It's terrible.

This is a terrible product. I've worked with many RJ45 jacks in the past and have never seen one so terrible. It usually takes me 2 minutes to get one in, but after wasting 15 minutes on it, I finally had to dig up some of the old kind and I can't use these. Just get the punch-down ones.

Garbage
Pros: Compared to other tooless jacks, nothing.

Cons: Poor design.

I had to fight so much with these jacks because they would not adequately splice the covering on the wires. I found a way to make them work, but it was a real pain. I wouldn't recommend these jacks. Since they are the only available tooless jacks on this site, I would go with the punch down jacks in instead.

I have never used a more consistently terrible product. Re-ran 2 cables and used 5 jacks and never once had a working signal. I thought it was the cable because I pulled the original one a bit hard through the wall but it was the jacks. Wires come loose after closing, teeth don't always grab the cable and some teeth don't even cut through the wire insulation. Steer clear of these.

Skip this and go with the TOOLED version
Pros: cheap

Cons: no directions
tough if you have big hands
not as reliable as the tooled version

I bought this by accident. I meant to buy the Tooled version. Unfortunately for me the two ends of this cable were three floors away from each other. Every time I tested and had 1 pair dark, I had to run up and down steps a few times! When I open the jack to try to fix the bad wire(s), All the wires get disconnected!! ahhh

I prefer the tooled version (which can be punched with a screwdriver for anyone who does not want to buy the punchdown tool). With the tooled version I get close to 100% success and you get that soothing "CLICK" when you know the wire is punched in correctly. With this tooless version I am about 70% or so. Thats a lot of wasted time.

"tooless" overstates this. This was hard enough to use without tools that I broke out my punch down tool, and eventually decided that name branded jacks were better. Since I had a lot more to do, I saved myself some time and threw these out.

ABSOLUTE WORST keystone jack I have ever used
I have punched down hundreds and possibly thousand(s) RJ45 keystone jacks in the past few years and I have to say these are the most frustratingly stupid design I have ever come across.

I understand the value of being 'tool-less' however having to line up each wire so delicately and then not having the 'teeth' inside the jack actually puncture the wire made using these exceedingly frustrating (not to mention non functioning)

STAY AWAY. Usually Monoprice's products are decent, but I guess in this case "you get what you pay for".

Not worth the hassle or frustration.

Tricky to get working
I bought 2 of these for a project. I was able to get both of them working properly, but not without having to terminate each one 2-3 times, and not without some finagling. The gigabit switch I have makes it easy to see if connections are using 100Mb or GB. At first I was having trouble getting GB connectivity. The connections would downgrade to 100Mb. I found that the problem was that the contacts were not cutting the wires in some instances. Hence the extra effort to get them working properly. I couldn't imaging using these to wire a whole house, having to test connectivity after wiring each keystone! If you don't have the proper tools, and if you want cheap, and if you're willing to put in some extra effort, and if you only have a couple boxes to wire, by all means get these. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Review of Toolless Cat5e Keystone jack
I found these jacks to work pretty well if you take care to get the wires positioned exactly right and close the cover properly. My first 4 or 5 had several bad connections until I learned the trick. Overall, with the additional effort to use them, I prefer the regular CAT 5e jacks to get a solid reliable connection.

Difficult to make connections
I found it very difficult to get these to make contact. I'm using standard CAT5e solid-conductor bulk cable for connections at 1Gb. I had to terminate, reterminate and finally almost crush the connector together with a pair of vise-grips to get them to work. They look like they're closed and crimped properly, but some of the conductors don't make contact. After a bunch of fiddling and one bent screwdriver from trying to force the wires onto the teeth, all of mine are working. I won't buy them again, though. I'll stick to 110 punchdown connectors.

Hard to use item
I initially had a lot of trouble using this supposedly tooless jack. I've terminated keystones similar to this in the past and had no problems using a punchdown tool.

On this unit, without using a tool, I had connectivity issues. The problem was worse when I tried using a punchdown tool. I had to manually pinch the metal connections onto each wire to get it to connect properly. I am still not happy with the connection, but at least it works (since the connection is behind a wall and sees little to no movement). In the future I will try to find a female to female keystone.

Go for the Tool Variant...
These jacks are much harder to use than the type 110 punch-down jacks. There is a little learning curve for these, and these are almost impossible if you have big hands. When I was using these jacks, I did have to push the wires down into the plastic grooves with a screwdriver, otherwise they'd fall straight out.

**These are good for situations when you're doing four or less jacks. If you want to do any more, it is well worth investing in a punch-down tool.

More difficult than a 'tooled' jack
This is the first 'tooless' jack that I use, so maybe it was my lack of skill, but I had one heck of a time installing these. It seems you have to position all of the cables at the same time before snapping down the cover. With a tooled jack, you just push down the cables one by one. Easy. I won't order 'tooless' jacks again. However they do work (that's why the rating is so high).

Didn't work at all
I purchased two of these, along with 100 feet of Cat5 cable. After running the cable from the first to the second floor of my house, I placed one of these connectors on each end. I couldn't get a connection. I tried many different things, including cutting the ends off of the cable, and re-crimping the connectors on. I was convinced that there was a problem with the cable, which was inside my walls, and couldn't be removed.

Finally, I tried removing these connectors, and crimping a standard RJ-45 (male) connector on each end, with a coupling. It worked. The problem all along was these keystone jacks. After some investigation, I found that they were not actually puncturing the insulation of the wires, so it was not making a connection.

These things are garbage. Next time, I guess I'll try the "punch-down" style, instead of the "toolless"

Tried unsuccessfully six times to get a good connection. The installation process was a pain and I'm not sure I ever had everything fully lined up when the cover finally snapped into place. It took way too much effort to close it in place as well.

I ended up using a Leviton connector I had originally purchased at a big box store but had planned to return after seeing how much cheaper Monoprice's connectors were. Maybe you get what you pay for, but the Leviton connector with a punch down tool was super simple to use and worked the first time.

I don't install these for a living, so maybe I'm just not doing something right.

Not worth it.
Yes, the are tool less, but

1) The don't come with even basic instructions.
2) If you have large hands, good luck with these.
3) It failed to properly cut the insulation on my wires, which means that I had to redo them.
4) when you open it back up, it pulls all the connections apart again.
5) They are incomparable with punchdown tools, so even if you want to use one to make sure it's seated, you can't.
6) One of them broke when I tried to close it.
7) After about 15-20 minutes messing around with one of these, my friend who runs network cables for a living went to his car, got his TOOLED one & punchdown and had it working in less than a minute.

Tooless Vs. Tool
Tooless jacks appear to be a perfect solution to the novice, the cautious or the frugal. However, they tend to be more difficult to line up and surprisingly tough to squeeze shut (despite the included lever). If you don't mind a very small learning curve regarding the punch down tool, you will find a cleaner, easier, and faster solution with tool jacks.

Works perfectly fine, but mind the width
I am tempted to rate this down a bit, but I hesitate as the problems I faced were of my own doing...

I bought several of these keystone jacks, in various colors, to help organize my office and move my networking/servers into the closet. The units themselves work perfectly. They seem to be made of quality parts, and unlike other wall jacks I have worked with, are constructed quite well.

The problem I had (or have, as the case may be) is that they are too wide to fit in the wall plates that have more than 3 ports, like the Leviton Decora 4-hole or 8-hole wall plates. They snap in just fine, but the body of the jack is so wide the neighboring jack does not clear it. Its mere centimeters off, mind you, but non-the-less these will not work.

For the rest of the house, at most I was putting in 3 or less connections in each, and these work perfectly fine for the 1, 2, and 3-hole plates, since the jack holes are spaced vertically as apposed to next to each other.

So, as long as you don't have the need to marry these into the same wall plate with 2 other jacks, you are in business.

Large, beware!
Ok, well these jacks I have to say are the easiest I have EVER used as far as getting the wires in there securely and quickly.

They have 1 major flaw though, and that is that the back side of the keystone jacks are about 2mm too wide on each side. In single gang applications where the keystone holes are the standard width apart, it is not an issue, HOWEVER. On a "decorator style" 4 or 6 quick port single gang wall plate, you CANNOT fit two network ports side by side.

Sticking to the basic 110 punch down from now on
I had this at each end of a pair of plenum cat5e cables to go through a garage firewall. 1 cable worked fine. The other ended up being a problem. Both connectors on that cable had problems and we finally gave up. I have used tool-less cat5e from Fry's and they worked flawlessly. I have been doing this for the last 10 years or so and always had a 100% success rate with 110 punch downs and I test every time. So it could be my old age or the connectors or just my luck with statistics.

This isn't the best keystone RJ45 jack with respect to installation. For some reason, you don't get the feeling that the latch is clicked all the way down. Not a big deal since the contacts are all made anyway and the jack works as expected. Other than that, works as expected. Installation time is 5 minutes.

Works surprisingly well, and highly recommend if you don't want/need to blow money on a punchdown tool. Of course, for someone like myself, I have big fingers and it was a bit of a pain to work the wires into place and it took longer than if I had used a punchdown version, which is the only reason I marked this down to an 8. Otherwise works as advertised and a great value for the price. Fits into the keystone wallplates perfectly and cable connections are flush.

If time is money, spend an extra 15 cents and avoid an annoying fight to terminate the wires, unless you want to hassle with an impact tool. The cap for the wires is flimsy and unreliable. They may be fine for the privacy of your own home, but I would never install them in someone else's.

Disappointed
Perhaps it is more of an indictment of myself but I was very disappointed with these jacks. It seemed like it would be efficient to simply 'snap down' od all wires at once and have a connection, but you need to have all wires in place at the right moment. If you don't get it right you need to start all over again. I ran out and bought the kind you have to punch down and the job was done a few minutes later.

Great product, easy to install
I purchased a number of these jacks to complete my home network installation. I found the installation of the first jack a little difficult (hard to tease apart the wires and get them to all stay in place long enough to snap the jack closed)...however, every jack after the first became easier to install. By the fifth one, it only took a couple of minutes to get everything hooked up! All of the jacks worked perfectly...I used them with the 1-hole wallplate (product #1097) and couldn't be happier! The jack is sturdy in the wallplate, no issues whatsoever.

The Cat5e cable needs to be cut to the right size and fit individual strands through the cover's opening.
Then line up all the strands and if all cables stay in place close it shut. Closing it clips the cable to the bottom board.
This process is supposed to save you from using a punch tool.
Mind that simple non-mechanical punch tools are relatively cheap and a must anyways. Trying to juggle the cables with this connector takes more time than it should. Once it's done you need to clip the cable endings that stick out of the connector preferably with a small cable plier.
If any of the connections is loose attempting to open the level would pull out all the cables and need to start all over again.
It's a good concept, but badly implemented. I would look elsewhere next time I need a keystone Cat5 connector.
The old design was much simpler and worked as well as more expensive ones but unfortunately, Monoprice does no longer carry those.

Waste of Money
These are the worst keystone jacks I have ever worked with. It is practically impossible to create good connection on all wires. Don't buy this as it is absolute waste of money.

It worked!
I usually don't write a review but I felt my review may help people in my situation: I was skeptical about these keystone jacks when I read some of the comments on this discussion board with low ratings as recent as this month, but I ordered them anyhow (all colors). I followed the direction on monoprice's website and all connections worked perfectly the first time on several pieces of a Cat 6 solid cable (these are not made for stranded cables as far as I know). I used the little black plastic lever to first push the wires in place in the template on the opposite side of the actual teeth. Then I used the same lever to push the two sides together until it snapped. The only tool I used was a wire cutter to cut the excess of wires coming out of the sides.

I agree with what others have said. Leaving the insulation on the wires leads to poor terminations. While stripping does work, good tooless jacks do not require this.
I also had to revisit several jacks in order to get them to work appropriately.

Don't bother buying these, spend the extra money and buy quality ones. I've spent a couple hours trying to get these to work with no luck. They don't seem to make good contact with the wires. Went out and bought some quality ones and they worked like a charm.

Great value
Fast and easy to install. Good price when compaired to other "home improvement" places. They want over $5 a connector. took about 5 minutes per jack. Great stuff.

Easy to install and work perfectly
These aren't quite toolless (you'll need wire cutters/strippers for your CAT5/5e/6), but they are super-easy to setup and install, and they have worked flawlessly.

I installed 8 of these in my home network with no networking experience and got the whole job done in less than 20 minutes. The connections in the back are secure and do include the zip-ties to secure the cable jacket directly to the keystone. The cable connection in the front fits nice and snug with the other cables I puchased from Monoprice.

If you're looking for a simple way to wire your home network, these will fit the bill perfectly.

Sounds like though these may be listed as not requiring tools, they are significantly easier to terminate with a punch down tool...

They work great
Ive installed roughly 40 of these at various locations and have had 0 issues with any of them. All the lines tested came back passed on the 1st try. These are an excellent product. Reading the negative reviews on them makes me think they werent using the proper tools to install these.

Im putting another order in right now for 50 more but figured Id stop here and toss in my $.02.

Cheap, easy connections
Had no problems installing or with any of the connections. Home is now completely wired for GigE, thanks Monoprice!

Wouldnt use again
I wouldnt use these again. I used cat5e solid with these and the connectors didnt pierce the insulation very well. None of my connections worked. I had to revisit each jack and push each stand down from the outside of the jack with a screwdriver.

Great Product!!! Easy To Use!!!
This is a great product and very easy to use. Once you understand the wiring diagram you can set them up in no time. I used 12 of them to wire my home. I used 6 different colors so I know where each jack goes. The first one took about 10 minutes to set up. Once I knew what I was doing it took about 5 minutes per jack. A small straight slot screwdriver will make it easier to set the wires in place. Also, a pair of wire cutters to trim the excess wire. You wont be disappointed.

Terrible
Im a big fan of Monorprice and the products they carry, but these are not very good. Ive been using the Leviton quickport jacks for years and these just dont measure up.

Not a single one worked the first time when installed. And yes, maybe my installation technique was lacking but Ive been doing networking for years and have never had a problem before.
Also, the plastic on these seems cheap and the finish is nowhere near the quality of the Leviton units.
I liken it to the difference between real Lego and Megablocks. Yah, the both work but the Lego is much better crafted and a higher quality.

Anyways.. these will work in a pinch, but I think Ill just spring for the brand name jacks next time.

Used 6 of these to wire a network in my new home. They are easy to use and work as advertised. Make sure to research how to use a tool less keystone jack first before trying to install one of these. One jack was defective and had to be replaced, luckily I ordered a spare.

First time installer. I had twisted pair CAT5E cable. Followed diagram for A scheme. Stripped outer insulation to expose twisted pairs. Used supplied tie strap to hold wire in place. Placed each individual wire into the correct double groves on the side opposite the teeth. That tool (if you call it that) wasnt too helpful. I used it along with a small pair of needle nose pliers. Once all 8 wires were in I slowly snapped the case closed. The teeth dig into the wire to make contact. No need to strip twisted pair wire. Worked great.
