Easy enough to install if you know what you're doing
Pros: Binding posts take banana jacks easily. Backside isn't too hard to wire up.

Cons: Soldering in tight places isn't my specialty

So yeah, these are going to be much harder to install than the similar 8434 and other dual-ended binding post style connections, but these are a lot cheaper if you're able to use them.

One trick I found with installing these right away is when you go to attach wiring, after stripping the wire you should split the wire strands into two bundles, twist each bundle individually, then give them a short twist (less than 1/8") outside of your stripped wire. The backside of the binding post has a notch cut into it slide this notch into the "V" the twisted bundle pairs give you, then twist those bundle pairs tightly. Hit it with a little solder and you won't have to worry about losing the connection.

They're stubborn to solder.
Pros: I've done extensive soldering work with electronics. I found that when I attempted to solder wiring onto these posts, the solder would not bond properly to the post. I reccomend making a full loop with your speaker wiring, then solder the wire "to itself".

Pros: Great quality, looks very good.

Very easy to install, assuming you are OK with a little bit of soldering.

Works great!
Pros: Price, construction

Cons: Time to solder

I soldered my connections, and followed instructions as in other postings, and it all worked great!
I'm even using 14 gauge wire, and had no problems. You just have to have a little experience soldering, ensuring that the solder really melts into the wire and the post in the back of the jack. The simple trick is to get both the post and the wire really hot, so make sure you have a vise or vise grip pliers holding the jack while things get hot.

Frustrating but functional
Pros: Quality materials and ease of installation are the two high points for these devices. Once installed, I've had no problems with sound quality.

Cons: The solder post is horribly unfit for this type of application. The solder-only bit a very frustrating, but there is a fix for the problem (see my review).

After several hours of trying to solder my connections to the post, I figured out a better way to make this work. Partially unscrew the retaining nut from the back of the connection. Strip back about an inch of insulation from your speaker cable. Make a hook and thread it between the retaining nut and the plastic clip face. Tighten the retaining nut back down ensuring that a majority of the speaker wire is touching both the binding post and the nut. This works just as well as soldering without the headache. You should have no audible anomalies. If so, double-check your connections and adjust as necessary. For the 1/5th the price of a binding post as your big box store, I'll take these with a minor headache instead of an empty wallet.

Pros: It's a keystone banana insert. What can go wrong with it?

The back has a solder post. You will need a high-wattage soldering iron to attach a wire. It helps to remove the binding post so you don't melt the plastic.

A pain to solder
Pros: Fits well in keystone wall plates. Looks good.

Cons: Soldering a fat wire to a tiny post is very difficult, getting a good connection is even more difficult.

Solder connection on rear is a pain. Monoprice should really start carrying these with banana plug connections on front and rear. It took me 5 tries before I was able to figure out how to do these properly, making a good connection.

FYI, I'm an engineer and good with my hands, so if it's hard for me it will be hard for most people. They key is push the nut and plastic back over the wire, then wrap the speaker wire around the post, then bend it to exit the post area straight back. Then tin your soldering iron with solder and hold it against the parts for a LONG time, letting them get up to temperature, then slowly add more solder until it has soaked the bare wire and adheres to the back of the plug.

Just like everyone else...
Pros: None

Cons: Everything

I generally don't ever write reviews because I don't have much to add, and this is no exception.

I just ordered a bunch of other keystone connectors and I stupidly thought these would be the same with a matching connector on the back side.

NOPE.

I really don't care about the $5 I spent, it's just that whole installation has ground to a halt with equipment everywhere and my wife wondering how I could be so stupid.

I will agree with the other comments: these are pretty worthless.

Difficult to solder
The banana plug itself is high quality, but the post in back is very small and trying to solder a thick gauge wire to it was extremely difficult. It's well worth it to spend an extra $2-3 to get a keystone jack with a set-screw terminal or banana plug in the back for physically connecting the wire without the need to solder. Hopefully, Monoprice will start selling these soon.

B+ product which should be an A
Pros: Easily snaps into keystone wall plate. Looks nice. Keystone allows for flexible positioning.

Cons: Must solder bare wire to tiny posts on the rear rather than double sided terminals like found on other products.

This product is less expensive than similar products found elsewhere but the tiny posts on the rear don't offer much real estate to solder the bare wire. 12ga wire is difficult to solder on the posts smaller wire recommended if you aren't real good with a soldering iron. This product receives a B+ but really could have been a solid A if it didn't have stumpy posts to deal with.

Works fine
Like everyone else I am an idiot and didn't read the full description so I didn't realize these were solder only connectors on the back.

I am a soldering n00b but I managed to figure it out just fine and the connection seems to be solid. In order to solder you really have to take the jack out of the keystone which is a bit challenging and you have to remember to leave the jack and the lock nut on the wire so when you solder the wire onto the back you can just slide the keystone and the nut back in place and screw it down.

Overall I am very satisfied and the finished look is very clean and professional looking.
