Absolutely Awesome!
Pros: Took 30 min from beginning to end
Template fit perfectly
Cost is SO LOW comparatively

Cons: Power Supply Plug is not low profile
Bottom Plate chord cone points down and not up so you can see down into the wall

Amazing addition to our set up. I've been looking around for something like this for some time. Monoprice! You've come through again!!!

Only things I would change are design aspects I've listed in the cons. Nothing major.

Love the product, love the provider, it's just perfect!

Good buy
Pros: Cheap
Easy to install

Cons: Plastic is a little fragile

I used this to run power behind a wall for a mounted TV. It works well but the plastic is a bit fragile so if you're not careful, you can break the clips off. Otherwise, it's very cheap and easy to install. Recommended.

Cons: Template for drywall cut out is to large, needs to be about an .5 inches smaller.

They come with romex on Amazon. Use Prime
Pros: It's a good Datacom Product.

Cons: On a do-it-yourself product like this, I'd expect the kit to be complete. Warning: you will need to buy wire from a hardware or electrical supply store to use this.

I'm not sure why Monoprice is selling more half-usable products at higher prices. Buy the complete kit, where it will save you the trouble of running to the hardware store.

Pros: Cant beat the price

Cons: none

Used this to connect the power behind my TV to the power filter in my media closet. Some peopple complain that there was no Romex...

What do you expect them to include a electrician too!

Simple install no issues, very professional look. Just with they made one without the open port for the additional wires.

Out of sight out of mind
Pros: Looks great...cause we cant see these boxes or the wires now.

Cons: You must purchase appropriate wire for inside the wall. I couldn't find a 3-4' strand of the appropriate wire so I would have had to buy a 25' spool for this project. Luckily I had a friend who does some electrical work and he had one just the right size.

The wall mount box tabs, which are plastic, are a bit too soft.

Not this products fault but I tried to install it as high as possible below my TV mount and I ended up losing the ability to adjust my TV from side to side. Check where your mounting brackets on the TV are located and check for possible interference BEFORE you start cutting into the wall.

Take your time and it will look great.

Have a 32" Samsung and Rocketfish tilt mount and there is plenty of room to mount lower...which I should have done.

Pros: nice finish, dont have to worry about running wires to a live outlet

Cons: Everhtyhing need to install not included. Bad lugs to secure on wall.

Not impressed with this. First, I had to go to local hardware store and pick up wire to connect the two outlets. Then when I was installing the boxes, the lugs would not stay and I wound up cracking the drywall around both boxes. Now I have drywall patch work to do.

Hello James,

Sorry for the issues you ran into with the Power kit. Unfortunately it doesn't include the romex and a few other little pieces that are needed to complete the installation. If this unit isn't going to quite work out for you I can issue an RMA for a return, I would just need an order number to get the process started. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely

Perfect for battery backp users
Pros: Easy to install
Everything you need except ROMEX in wall wire

Cons: None

I live in South Florida, so everything electronic I own is plugged into a battery backup. THis kit allows you to get the recessed receptical plus gives you the ability to plug into a surge protector or UPS. This kit is pretty awsome

Cannot beat price, Not recessed enough!
Pros: Price & quality

Cons: The inlet behind the tv is not recessed deep enough, my plug for the tv stuck out about 1/2 inch after mounting.

This would be perfect, but the inlet behind the tv needs to be deeper. Would like Monoprice to either offer a deeper angled recessed inlet or a small extension/adapter to allow the plug to be inserted sideways. It was easy to set up and took an inexperienced techie like me about 1hour. Will need to get some additional wiring from local hardware store,14/2 should do for most applications

Pros: Ideal solution for hiding cables.

Cons: Wish both connections were more recessed.

This is a perfect solution for hiding cables. In my case, I was running power to my all in one speaker above the tv with about a 1 inch gap - previously revealing the cables. With this device I was able to overcome that to a degree. The end which has the outlets is flat, and I had to buy a right angle power cord and jimmy the speaker a bit so it stuck out more so that there was enough space to plug that bad boy into. The connection that receives power is recessed, but again caused problems because the cord is rather large. I have an av mount that is directly against the wall that covered this, but the clearance of the mount wasn't enough and had to move the connection elsewhere, requiring a lot more work. Overall, it got the job done but with better recessed connections and a right angle plug it would be a 10. I'm sure I'm in the minority with this due to the low clearance I had.

Pretty Good
Pros: Well-thought out system for cable management and bringing power to that wall mounted flat screen.

Cons: Install only works in horizontal orientation. No 12/2 or 14/2 wire included.

Ordered this kit to give my wall mounted flat screen a clean "cable free" look. After cutting out the wall templates, I discovered that the space between studs was too small to install the inlets in a horizontal position - so I had to go vertical. This compresses the wiring at the inlet and outlet (hopefully this will cause any long term issues). Also, the kit shipped without an actual Romex cable. So after a quick trip to the local hardware store to pick up cable (additional $6.00) I was able to get power to my flat screen. Works like a charm. Deducted 1 star for the lack of a Romex cable in the package and 1 star because the packaging was pretty beat up. Other than that...great product that works as expected.

Decent
Pros: Hides well. Works for what it was intended for

Cons: Ears break off too easily. had to take the harder plastic ones off of some old work boxes to get to bite properly

Installed easily, did its function. Ears did break off easily, I just pulled some off of a couple of blue work boxes I have laying around, and they worked perfectly. Wiring was a snap. Make sure there are no fireblocks in the way before trying to install. Just use a studfinder.

Great solution but don't use the template provided...
Pros: Great way to hide wiring behind the wall
Relatively easy installation, if you double check a couple things (below)

Cons: Template provided is too big, could cause major problem

Easy enough to use and a very clean solution. I would make a few VERY big suggestions thoug:

1. go get yourself a couple single gang boxes from the hardware store. The ones provided are cheap and flimsy.
2. I didn't run into this but make sure you double check that there are no fireblocks in the wall between where you want the faceplates BEFORE you start cutting.
3. MOST IMPORTANT: use the new gang box and the actual faceplate to determine the size of the hole to cut. Easier to cut it bigger than the other way around. I used the template and it made the hole almost too big for the gang box provided which means there would have been nothing to hold it on the wall. I had just enough of the wallboard to secure it in place.

Good product, saves money
Pros: Easy to install, Clear instructions

Cons: Template too large(j-box hanging on just barely sometimes), 'ears' on main body of plates are a little flimsy(unlike the on the j-box)

I use this kit a lot in my install business(in fact it is designed for professionals) and I really like that I don't need an electrician for every TV mount. Just cut the template a little small(1/8" or so), and be really easy when you tighten the right hand screws as those 'ears' are very weak.

Easy to install still not cheap
Pros: Easy install, recessed outlets

Cons: Flimsy plastic, price

I recently purchased two of these for separate projects and I must say that they are easy to install and hook up. If you have ever replaced a light switch than you should be able to do this.

The plastic clips that are on the back of the plates are weak (the clips that you use to fix it to the drywall). Be very careful when screwing it down, don't screw it too tight you could break one of these clips off easily.

The outlets are recessed which is nice but the power plug that plugs into the outlet into the inlet on the plate is HUGE. Even though it is recessed it still sticks out from the wall probably 1.5". The openings that are supplied to run cables seem to be amble enough unless you have crazy amounts of cables going up the wall.

Also, please note that this setup does not work with the 2 gang mounting bracket.

Recessed Pro Power Kit a breeze to install
Pros: I got this kit to run power from a drop point behind my wall mounted tv to the nearest power outlet a good distance away from it. Most of the parts I needed to install were included and my setup looks really nice with the wires safely hidden away in the wall.

Cons: I did have to get one piece of wire from home depot, the instructions were clear on what to get but I didnt understand why they didnt include the cable in the box.
The instructions could also have been a bit clearer, instead of being stingy with the graphics, they should have 3 or 4 diagrams instead of 2 just so the steps are clearer and well demonstrated in the drawings.

Despite the two minor complaints, the system worked as advertised and I love how clean my setup looks now that the wires are neatly tucked away in the wall.

Pros: Price, easy to install

I was thinking about getting a powerbridge, then remembered monoprice, and oh my goodness did they come through good on this one. I already had some Romex so was good on that account, this took 20-30 minutes to install and works great. It's a great concept, and the cable pass thru takes three good sized HDMI cables, don't forget to get in wall rated cables like these [6076 - 10ft 24AWG CL2 High Speed HDMI® Cable With Ethernet w/ Net Jacket - Black].

Pros: Everything you need comes with

Cons: None

Cost really lesss than an electrician and a technician combined. This kit plus wall mount bracket and hdmi cables needed cost less than just the bracket at BB. it says it all

Cheap and easy
Pros: Cheaper than a professional install.

Cons: Plastic tabs are a bit fragile.

While this was easy enough to install, you do have to be careful. The plastic tabs that hold this in place are a bit fragile and one broke off when I screwed the wall mount in place.

Does the job
Pros: All in one solution (except for wire)
Clean tidy appearance
Recessed outlet

Cons: Small Box for Outlet
Plastic Support Tabs a little flimsy

The only real problem I had was one of the support tabs broke off. They're a cheap plastic and can get crossthreaded fairly easily. It was easy enough to swap out, though.

I was able to get 3 HDMI cables and 1 component video/sound (5 wire) cable through the pass-through. Tight fit however.

My TV has a 90° plug on its power cable, which was actually able to fit in the recessed socket. I was afraid it wouldn't!

Pros: Works and looks Great!

Cons: Does not come with a 6-8ft electrical cable (might just be because of regulations in different areas)

better solution
Pros: Neat, small, does not protrude.

Cons: Limited capability, not airtight, expensive.

I bought one of these and laid everything out to install it. I realized that it was not going to be enough. I had TV, satellite box, DVD, game system, and surveillance camera system to plug in. On the network side, I had cable from satellite, LAN to camera system, LAN from camera sys, and 6 camera cables. I ended up using a 2-outlet box and a hi-lo voltage divider. I have a dedicated outlet for the mess with its own CB. The cable, LAN, and camera cables go through the lo-voltage side of the box. Everything is airtight and behind the wall-mount. Cost $12 for box, divider, recepticle, cover, and LAN mod plugs.

Fouth unit I have used - still recommended
Pros: Easy install, does the job

Cons: Plug (female) adapter was bad - had to replace with one from Lowes.

The low voltage cable runs should be inverted on the bottom to allow for simpler routing.

The 'ears' that hold the plate in on the low voltage side are prone to breakage.

AC 'extension cord' adapter (FEMALE) that you connect to the lower plate male blades sticks out of wall 2-3" when done, making for a challenge if you are trying to put the furniture close to the wall - a 90 degree adapter would have been a nice touch.

Ths sis the fouth unit that I have installed and it is the 1st one where I had any issue. For this particluar install the female plug in the top plate was simply bad. There was no way to insert a TV's AC plug into the adapter no matter how hard I tried. I was able to separate the pins with a screwdriver (unplugged of course) but even then it was very difficult to plug the TV in.

For $5 I just replaced the plug with a new one from LOWES and we were back in business. I needed to get the install done this weekend or I would have RMAed the unit....

I WISH that someone in manufacturing / design would PLEASE reverse the bottom low voltage routing ports so that they face each other as opposed to both the same way as routing the wires can be a real PITA when you realize that you need another cable run AFTER it's installed.

I used the template this time and am sorry I did, the hole was just too big when I was done. The plate covers it but the tabs JUST catch on the walls. I would recommend that if you are going to use a drywall saw (as opposed to a razor blade) cut the template out just INSIDE the dashed lines and not ON the dashed lines. it makes a real difference - believe me.

Even the issue I had with the power adapter will not impact my recommendation to you to buy this from Monoprice.

Take your time, measure twice & cut once, understand that you need 14-2 ROMEX and CL-2 low voltage (HDMI/RCA) cables to stay within code and you'll be fine.

Recessed Pro Power Kit w/Straight Blade Inlet White
It may not matter to most, but the extension cord that comes with this is not black like it shows in the picture, but instead white. This made a difference for me since it will be on a bare wall that is dark in color. I wanted to run the cord over the baseboard and wanted black to so it would blend in with wall. When I called about this I was offered no solution (like a replacement cord), which was disappointing. Also, I later found the same kit at another on-line retailer for $42 with no shipping cost. I really like Monoprice because of their quality merchandise and great prices, so this was disapponting. So, to be fare, I have not yet installed the kit, and I am sure it will work great (just like everything else I have bought from Monoprice). The low rating is related to the color of the extension cord and my buying/customer service experience. Customer service was polite and professional, but offered no solution.

Worked well for me
Not sure about all of the previous reviews discussing the strength of the wall mount this is for hiding your cables in the wall and connecting the TV and other devices all to the same surge protector! This is a cheaper version of the powerbridge setup. Worked well for me, template was perfect, just traced, cut with a drywall knife, and was good to go.

Doesn't come with romex, wasn't a big deal for me because I already had plenty. A two outlet version might be nice if you have something else to power, like a sound bar or other device piggyback on the TV.

The only way to go!
Pros: easy to install
good instructions

Cons: didnt come with romex

i was able to fit 2 component cables-2 HDMI-1 RCA i still probably have room for 1 more hdmi or rca probably not another component. it is a tight fit but all went through. this was a pretty easy and straight forward project. make sure to leave your self a little extra romex at the bottom plug to be able to comfortably hook up to the bottom outlet. the plastic was sturdy and held against the wall perfect. this is the only way to do your set up and make it like professionally done. doing this and the wall mount (3725) took me a couple hours this past saturday 8/14. the only reason it took that long is because i am OCD and i measure and remeasure and then measure again- but in the end it was all worth it! popped me open a couple dos xx and got it done in no time- was watching movies that night! p.s i used 12/2 romex you can use 14/2 but i opted for the thicker gauge.

Best service no complaints
I've read about the speedy shipments and it was absolutely the quickest I've received any package. The mount itself holds the tv as it should and the tv looks great. I don't use the swivel much, only needed it to angle my TV (would like it a little easier & smoother of a swivel if I did) Worth the money and does its job for me!

Great solid mount. Easy to install. Very, very, very sturdy with my 32" Samsung on it. Shipped from California to Ontario is less than 24 hours!

After reading so much about how great monoprice.com was for items, I finally placed an order. This is a great easy product. I can't even get over how fast it shipped, or how solid it is. It looks so clean with my tv mounted on my new monoprice mount as well!!

Good Product, don't over tighten!
Pros: Looks good
Easy to Install

Cons: 'Old Work' drywall tabs a bit flimsy
Both Pass-Through inlets are facing down

This is overall a good product. It installed very quickly and looks great. I works perfectly for what I wanted (to be able to still surge protect my TV and still run the wires in the wall). I overtightened the 'drywall tabs' when installing it though and broke off one of the tabs. Also, the Pass Through inlet for both of the plates face the same way, which means that, unless you flip one plate upside down (and cross your video wires with the power wire), you will end up with the wires bending 'up' to make it into one of the slits.
Tip: Do not forget to run your wires FIRST through the wall cutout then install these. It makes the running of the wires much easier.

Works great
Pros: Looks great. Does the job.

Cons: It's a little difficult to run new cables once installed.

Overall, this worked very well for what I wanted. I have only a few cables running in the wall for it, so I haven't ran into any potential hole diameter issues.

One thing of note is that I installed the bottom plate upside down to better accommodate cable runs. This helps a little with being able to fish the cables out and also reduces the length of cable required to make the run slightly.

Pros: Works great! Good instructions.

Cons: Expensive! Price must be lowered.

I've used it to hook up subwoofer, HDTV,etc. (2 units at 2 locations in family room) and it works very well. Both connected to MonsterCenter for clean power located in another corner.

Great alternative to power bridge
Pros: -inexpensive
-easy to install
-works as advertised

Cons: none

I was considering the powerbridge but this power kit from Monoprice only required one cut to be made per outlet so it had a smaller foot print. It's also less expensive than powerbridge even considering you have to get your own Romex.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: The templates were a little small. Had to shave a bit more to get it to fit.

This install worked out well but took a little longer than I thought it would. The templates were a little smaller for making the holes in the wall so I had to shave the dry wall a bit at a time to get them to fit. Once installed, the plates made my wire run look very professional for a self install. I liked the design because it allowed me to put a power conditional in-line before the wall to protect my TV and was a big selling point for me. Plus the additional cable ports on the panel allowed me to run my HDMIs through the same holes.

Nice product
Pros: Nice product that allows you to add an in-line UPS or power strip to you wall mounted TV.

It was a no-brainer to install once I groked the directions.

Cons: The shaft for both the top and bottom inlet point down. It's hard to get wires started a little from the bottom one. Set up and use a pull cord. It seemed to work better pulling to the top.

I think you are supposed to have 6 inches extra wire in the termination box from the power that you run inside the wall. Because the bottom plug is recessed, room is really tight for this. I'm not sure how to make this better.

Looks great and is exactly what I thought I would get. The plastic is sturdy and fits in a space without having to hammer it into a stud. I ran a lot more cables through the recessed holes that I thought I could get.

Installation of PID 4652 Recessed Pro Power Kit
Pros: Installation is not hard to do and looks nice when complete.

Cons: When installing be AWARE that the Cable Chutes top and bottom do not line up as they are opposite from each other. The installation instruction sheet is in error and I did not notice it until I had kit installed. Be sure to note before you cut the hole in the dry wall you may have to offset one from the other if you want to be able to draw your cables behind that drywall with ease. At least the kit I received was constructed that way a left and right ?? anyway I worked it out just be AWARE.

Great product but low voltage holes will need to be redesigned
Pros: Great solution for those looking for a professional finish for mounting their TVs. The high-voltage male and female inlets can be removed to help with re-orientation.

Cons: The cost is a bit high for what Monoprice usually provides. I think Lowes and Home Depot offers similar products for about the same prices. Modular units I purchased 3 years ago cost about $15 more than what I'm paying now for the all-in-one (minus Romex cable) solution from Monoprice.

I wish this product would have been available from Monoprice 3-4 years ago when I was furiously looking for different parts to build my own powerbridge (solution was provided by some nice folks on AVS). I think in all, I paid about $15 more back then for all a hodge-podge solultion, which works extremely well. The Powerbridge kit sold back then went for something like $85 IIRC.

With HDMI cables playing a great role in today's devices, a single-gang low-voltage inlet/outlet should be sufficient. The inclusion of 2 old-house boxes is a great bonus.

I haven't installed the unit yet, but I'm going through my pre-installation paces to make sure things will turn out the way I envision them. I wish Monoprice would have heeded some of the customers' reviews that the low-voltage inlet-outlet needs to be redesigned, so that the bottom one points up and the top one points down. You can orient them this way, however, if they are on opposite sides, which risks crossing the Romex cable with all the low-voltage cables. I didn't want to do this, so I'll be cutting out the upper low-voltage outlet, so that I can pull the wires through with no problems.

Another very minor issue is that the upper female electrical inlet does not fit flush like the lower male counterpart. A positive (like some reviewers have mentioned) is that both can be unscrewed and re-oriented as desired. This is useful for orienting the low-voltage cable to the side of the TV that the inputs are located and the high-voltage power cord to the opposite side of the TV.

pretty good
Pros: Nice sleek finish, ease of use.

Cons: The screws used to tighten the box to the walls are very hard to move...I would suggest that prior to install, tighten all 4 screws to the max, then unscrew them. Would be nice if the box had a different way to secure the wire to the box, instead of a piece of plastic.

I liked it alot...make sure this is what you need, as it turns out all I needed was the recessed outlet, not the whole kit, would have saved myself 30.00 had I looked a bit more careful!

I got one of these kits to wire a 55" LED TV above my fireplace. After installation, I noticed that upon the slightest movement of the extension cord that plugs into the lower receptacle, the TV would turn off. It seems that the male receptacle in the lower wall plate had a lose connection. Eventually it got so bad the TV would just turn off by itself without anyone near the wall plate. I packaged the product back up and sent it back to Monoprice. In their defense, the RMA process was painless and a new one is on its way to me as I write this. I'm sure it was just a bad apple.

Well worth it
Pros: The template helped me cut perfectly into the drywall. Everything worked well immediately. The installation was flawless and looked very professional.

Cons: I had some trouble getting the faceplate to clamp to the drywall. I was working in a tight space and couldn't get a lot of leverage on the screwdriver. The screws were hard to turn.
You should bundle this with 15ft of Romex. That would save a trip to the hardware store.
Also, you should offer a different length for the extension plug. I needed a longer run.

I strongly recommend this product!

Perfect kit for a nice clean installation!
Pros: Recessed outlets, almost everything needed to do the job, extension cord included.

Cons: No romex cable for running behind the wall.

Even without the romex coming with the kit to really be a COMPLETE kit, I have to give this a 10. Everything you need is in the box short of that cable behind the wall. And a quick trip to your local home improvement store takes care of that for around $1. Thanks to this kit and wall mount from monoprice, I have my TV on the wall with not one visible wire.

Pros: Clean, professional look. Good instructions.

Cons: None

This product made wiring for our wall mount plasma wonderful. Very nice look when done. I really don't know what else to say. If you are wall mounting a TV and want the cords behind the wall (and to building code!), this is the perfect solution. You do have to purchase and wire your romex. Don't be scared basic wiring skills are all you need.

Important for incorporating surge protection to your Home Theatre
Pros: Everything included, very low price, assurance that your power is being supplied up to code.

Cons: None!

It is common for people installing a home theatre to cut corners - such as hiding an extension cord within a wall along with the HDMI or other video cables. Big mistake - not only not conforming to code, you run a real risk of causing a fire.

This unit is great - you can easily incorporate a surge protector by plugging in the cord 'in-line' to the surge unit (vs. me paying an electrician about $110 to wire an outlet up behind the LCD set, without surge protection). The supplied 'old work box' mounted perfectly in the holes I cut using the supplied template, and the larger two-gang unit fit perfectly on top of the single-gang work box.

The only thing not supplied with 14/2 or 12/2 romex, which I picked up for $7.50 for 15' at a local big-box store.

No regrets and am thinking about getting a second unit for the home office...

Nice kit
Pros: Decent price, good instructions, low-voltage chutes are large

Cons: You will need to buy electrical wire

This kit was exactly what I needed to mount my LCD TV. I elected to use this kit because there was not electical outlet below the TV and I didn't want to hire an electrican extend the electrical wire through the studs. I also wanted to use a surge protector and wouldn't have been able to if the TV plugged directly into an outlet in the wall behind the wall mount. Make sure that you measure and order sufficient lengths of HDMI and component wires from Monoprice for the job. I also went to the hardware store and bought a package of 14/2 wire to run between the plates. I cut the dry wall to the size of the stencil provided but found that I needed to extend it out slightly in order to fit the securing brackets into the wall and attach them to the "blue box". The low voltage chutes are large enought to hold two component or HDMI wires plus more if needed.

Pros: This kit made it a breeze to install a flat panel TV, hiding the A/C and also a way to fish the wall for audio & video cabling to complete the install. Great! This connection also gives you a way to hookup an surge suppressor, without trying to hide it behind the TV

Cons: Non, Just remember you need a piece of romex to fish between the upper & lower boxes to complete the electrical connection.

Pros: great concept. easy to install.

Cons: the design needs some work. the outlet for the TV is too recessed. my 58" Samsung has a thick wrap around the end of the plug. This prevented the plug from going into the outlet. I had to drill the bottom of the plate out just to get the plug flush with the wall.

Great...sorta
This item would work great if you're mounting your TV on a standard wall. I had the unfortunate time of trying to mount it on the outer wall of my house which is concrete block. So that left me with a very small gap between the drywall and the concrete. I ended up having to chop and modify the blade inlet and I couldnt even use the top portion. So I had to buy a separate non-recessed power plug for behind the TV. Also, it's pretty stupid that the bottom inlet is upside down. Like most other people on here I simple flipped it around but that leaves you with your low voltage crossing your Romex. Just make sure you have in-wall rated HDMIs that have the proper shielding.

Will save you HUNDREDS of $$$$$!
Pros: Great for concealing wires. No risk of electric shock. Easy to install.

Cons: Doesn't come with romex. Not a big deal will run you about $5-6 at Home Depot.

If you mount you flatscreen with a monoprice mount and use this kit to conceal all wires going to and from your set you will have saved HUNDREDS of $$ and will have a professional looking installation. I can't recommend this set enough. I used one to mount above my fireplace and one for a wall mount. I would recommend investing in a wire fishing tape from your local hardware store if doing a more complex mount (above the fireplace). These run $10-15 and will allow you to fish the romex wire from side to side.

Works great for LCD TV install
I've used a few of these to install Flat panel TVs. They are perfect to use for concealing wires. You simply need to get the Romex cable to make the connection to each outlet in the wall. It basically acts as a safe extension chord from the tv to a surge protector for the other components while keeping the wires concealed. Good quality. Have recommended them to friends as well.

Awesome and 1/2 the price of retail.
Installed in a an hour, looks very professional.
TIP: You can snap out the bottom AC "plug" and rotate 180 degrees so you can mount the low voltage opening facing "up" to match the down opening of the top plate.
Still need to purchase some NMD-90 for the AC between adapters, but no big deal...

exactly what I was looking for
When we moved into our new house, we purchased a flat panel plasma to mount over the fireplace (bought the TV mount at MonoPrice as well). After staring at the cables on the mantel for 9 months, I decided to run the cables through the wall. The only thing I went back and forth on was whether to run a long power cable through the wall, or to find a way to get power behind the TV. This product accomplished the second goal perfectly. It was a tossup as to whether to buy the single or double outlet. In the end, we went single and decided we could put a small power strip behind the TV if we ever needed a second outlet.

This was my 4th or 5th order from MonoPrice and shipping was super fast as usual. I have purchased from them since I ordered this kit and will buy from them again in the future.

Perfect Solution
This kit provides the perfect solution to power your wall mounted unit and still use a central surge protector/power management device for all of your components. Although not illustrated or mentioned in the description, the kit comes with two single gang retro J-boxes for the electrical side. Plenty of room in the single gang cable drop side for three (3) in-wall rated HDMI, one (1) in-wall rated Toslink, one (1) Cat6, one (1) digital coax, and one (1) ctr. channel speaker wire.

Super handy, looks great
Clients love how clean it looks. It installs easy and comes with everything you need, except the romex. Even the high-voltage retro boxes are included.

Two things to watch out for:

The scoop for the low-voltage wires is tall. If you're installing this in a thick wall, like a brick wall, you might not have enough clearance to get the wires out the top of the scoop, since the top edge of your hole will basically seal off the port. If you're not careful, you can damage a thick HDMI cable before you know it. Check the clearance before you tighten up, and trim the scoop if you need more room.

Also, the outlet is recessed, which is helpful, ... but only if your TV has a straight plug. Some displays (notably Samsung) come with a right-angle "low profile" plug, which won't fit into the recessed outlet. You might want to order a replacement cord for the display, or be prepared to use a short extension cord if your display cord is wired-in.

Slick product. However as people mentioned, this package should be a complete package. Sure they through in the outlet boxes finally compared to people who bought this kit originally. but the only piece missing is the romex type wire. Why buy a kit and then have to goto the local big box store to buy wire??

This maker sells a complete kit according to their online DIY video.

Great Kit
This is the perfect answer for anyone installing a wall mounted display. I used this to run power and input cables to my plasma display. Worked great even with my old plaster walls. I was able to run 2 HDMI (Monoprice of course), 1 Wii component video cable (also Monoprice) and a network cable through the low voltage drop side. I had purchased some extra 2 gang low voltage recessed plates but didn't even need to use them. I felt a sense of accomplishment doing this myself with a little help from my brother and having it look professional. Not counting some painting I need to do since cutting plaster can be a pain. If I had one complaint with this piece it's that they should have the "snout" for the low voltage cables reversed on the bottom side to make it easier to get cables through it. They would just drop right through instead of having to go down then come up. I was going to flip the plate around but didn't want the romex crossing over my input cables.

Highly recommended!

Worked as advertised and much cheaper than the more expensive (Powerbridge) solutions.

The only thing I would have changed is the orientation of the low-voltage vent thing as it points the wrong way for a up & down setup. But very minor..

My setup looks amazing now, Look 'ma no wires! :)

This is a great product. I had installation problems but they had nothing to do with the kit (I had pipes within wall where I cut hole). If I were to order again, I would not get the combined kit. I would buy a single power box to allow separation of the power and a/v cables.

Innovative Item
I originally was thinking about purchasing this for my own house, but I opted to install a surge protected outlet next to my fireplace instead. In my situation, the television is mounted on the fireplace above the mantle, and having a recessed outlet made little sense since it was going to be installed on the side of the brick facade. Anyway, I instead purchased this item for my sister's setup at her new house. This item works great, the only issue was the right side of the bracket requiring you to turn the screws until it tightened to the drywall. Unfortunately, this did not really happen, thus making it difficult to keep on the wall. Fortunately, for my situation, the item is behind the television, and once the wires are fished through the holes, there shouldn't be much movement behind the tv. Anyway, this provided a very clean look, hiding both the wires and giving the tv power (by code) through the wall. I recommend this product if you are trying to figure out an option to get power to your mounted flat screen tv.

Flip the passthrough inlet
This is a great product that could be better. When installing, you have to turn the bottom plate upside-down to allow easy movement for adjusting a/v cables after the install. The result is the power/passthrough is switched left and right from top to bottom. #1 Your a/v cables cross your NM cable although they run really close in parallel in any configuration it probably isn't desireable. #2 Asthetics, again not a big deal as the plates hopefully will be hidden anyways. #3 When running additional cables at a later date you'll run into hanging-up on the NM cable.
My recomendation to Datacom is to simply turn the bottom plate's passthrough inlet up instead of down.

This works very well. Probably took about a half hour from start to finish to install the power kit. Open the box and read the instructions the day before you plan on doing the project, because you will need to pick up some NM cable from the hardware store and two outlet boxes. Probably run you about $10.

If you want that clean look to your flat screen, either have an electrician come in and install an outlet where you will hang your TV or use this product. I've done it both ways and this kit was probably the least hassle. Very good product.

Worth the couple of extra buck you are paying. Expensive for Monoprice, but go try and find something comparable at BestBuy and see what you would have to pay. I'm sure Monster will have a version out sometime that will sell for $250.

great product with a great price. easy to install and makes mounting a TV on the wall very sleek looking. i like this setup better than a typical outlet behind the TV because i can have the TV plugged into a surge protector.

Work as advertised. Highly Recommended
The product is for my new flat screen tv installation. It was relatively easy to install - cut hole in wall, put in a 1 gang old work junction box on both ends, connect the romax, install and works. Highly recommended.

Great Product
This is the third power kit I've installed and it is an excellent product overall. The only reason for giving the product a "9" rating instead of a ten is that the opening for the cables could be improved by slanting the portion that protrudes into the wall.

Sometimes a cable connector will "hang" on the edge of the opening. This is especially evident when adding another cable to an existing installation that already has several cables in the opening.

Easy to install
This is a great product, and really easy to install - Took me about 20 minutes, plus some time to pull all of the cables for the TV. The plastic tabs which attach the cable side to the drywall are not all that durable, at least compared to new work construction boxes I've used before, so 3 of the 4 snapped off during the installation process using a hand screwdriver. That said, it's attached firmly to the wall, so it's not a major concern.

Nice additon to wall mount installation
Good quality, easy installation and look great when done. It would be nice if it came with the work boxes that are necessary to complete installation.

Works Perfect
This thing worked just as I had hoped. I didn't want to rip my wall open to run electrical, so this was the perfect solution. Easy to install as long as you have the tools.
Only complaint is that for the price you think they could include the 2 single Gang boxes you need and like 8' of 12/2 Electrical wire. It only ran me about $4-5 at Home Depot, but would have saved the trip and would be convenient to have everything you need in 1 box.
