Pros: great video quality, plug and play
Cons: you also need a sound cable but that is a mac thing and is in no way a bad mark on the adapter
i have purchased several item from monoprice, as with all others, this one is exactly what i was hoping for. i have used it several times and it is a must have if you want to connect your macbook to your tv. i also have the HDMI adapter for my other tv and it work just as good

Great to have in your laptop bag
|
Pros: Works exactly as advertised.
Cons: None.
I don't even use a VGA desktop monitor, but I got this adapter to be prepared. There are many times when I've been in a conference room and nobody can get the video projector to work with their laptops. This will work. Or you're at a family reunion and someone wants to see old photos on the projector. Same deal. Of course if you *do* have a desktop VGA display, this will work with your mini DP, including all the MacBooks and MacBook Pros that ship with the mini DP, both old and new.

Pros: Good construction Great price It works
Cons: Nothing
I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy this same product through Apple...for $29! This adapter works perfectly, no signal issues or noticeable degredation. The only thing that would make it better would be for Monoprice to give it away for free! If you need this adapter to connect your Mac to a VGA monitor or projector, don't think twice...get it from Monoprice!

Fantastic
|
The product it self is great, its a tab bit longer than the original mac hard ware, which I personally think is better. I have an original MAC mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and I cannot for the life of me remember why I decided to pay so much for the HDMI adapter.... I really should have gotten on monoprice. Comparing the two I feel the monoprice adapter, while is not as aesthetically appealing is studier and more resistant to scratches.

It works
|
The device converts mini-DVI to VGA simply and allows a VGA cable to output video to a monitor, TV or any device accepting a VGA input. Saves a lot of $ by buying from MonoPrice instead of Apple directly or most other stores.

I am very pleased with the products and service I receive through monoprice.com. I was originally referred to monoprice.com by an employee of Best Buy when I was looking for this adapter.

Just what I needed.
|
After fussing with software solutions to get my MacMini to display properly on my Vizio Monitor. I read somewhere about these adapters. Since I was using the vga port for a windows computer and the resolution was fantastic I decided to give this adapter a go. Once it arrived, sure enough !!! Just what I need it. I just wanted to have 1920 res out my mac mini. 1080p setting over hdmi was simply horrible for the fonts.

Mini DVI to VGA for Mac Mini
|
Little did I realize that the display port on my Mac Mini (running Leopard) works better with this VGA adapter than with the HDMI adaptor. It all has to do with native resolution of the HDTV. Mine, did not match the display resolutions available in the system preferences setting for "displays". The native resolution for the TV is 1360x768, nowhere to match in the preference display settings. So what happens then is the picture doesn't fit onto the screen from edge to edge. There is a 1 inch black border around the picture. If you select "overscan" from the options in display preferences, then the picture fills the screen but about 1 inch too large which means you lose the menu bar on top. Plus, the graphics and fonts were not perfect. That corrects itself with this adaptor. Now the graphics and fonts are perfect and the resolution matches so the screen is filled from edge to edge properly.

This item works perfectly. I bought these to work with ten Mac Minis that were donated to a local community center. The Minis do not have the standard vga plug-in and no one knew who to connect the Minis to the vga monitors. I've used MonoPrice for my personal computers and knew they would have the answers and they did. Oh yeah, the price was low and the product is top quality.

I like it better than the Apple one I had before this. It feels a little bit more reliable. The general design of the port is not the greatest, hence the improvement on the new macbooks. But definitely worth the GREAT price!

Great Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, and almost 4 times cheaper than the one at the Apple store. I got it two days after ordering it, plugged in one end into my monitor's VGA cable, plugged in the other end to my MacBook, booted up, and that was it! I highly recommend the product and Monoprice.com!

This is a great adapter, it solved the problem that i was having with my new monitor not switching resolutions. Now it works great. It seems fairly well-built and durable. And with monoprice, you can always expect to get what you want at a ridiculously low price that you cannot find anywhere else. It is shipped super fast and without a ton of packaging. Hooray for this adapter and Hooray for monoprice!!

Adapter works great
|
Using adapter with a Mac mini, going from Mini-DVI to VGA, connecting to TV on other side of room via VGA wall plates and 75 foot SVGA cable. Computer display on TV is outstanding. No quality or resolution issues whatsoever. Very good product and price!

Good Picture. Some issues

Bought for 2009 Mac-mini. Currently used for primary monitor. Picture is good.
Great price.
When mac goes into sleep the monitor sees it as a lost cable connection so doesn't go into standby.
Does it even if I switch monitors. Don't have this issue with the Display port version.

I haven't had this adapter for long, but so far it is working great. What I really want, though, is a Mini-DVI to VGA cable, not an adaptor. Hopefully monoprice will make such available for purchase.

I finally found the right adapter for my macbook and love it! I have it hooked up to my lcd tv also with the sound cord and the picture is great, the sound needs to be turned up pretty though. The connection will come lose if the laptop is moved while the cord is plugged in, but I am satisfied with the quality and fast shipping.

Decent quality, incredible value
|
I got this to replace my misplaced Apple-branded VGA adapter for my 13 MacBook Core Duo machine. The build quality is not as good as the Apple part, but the VGA picture is perfect even at 1920 x 1080 and you can NOT beat the price! Ill be careful with it and I think it will serve all my presentation needs.

Feels Cheap...does the job
|
The cable itself is pretty flimsy. Every time I connect it to my macbook I hear a cracking/crackling sound coming from the cable pins on the mini-dvi port. Overall, the cable is physically poor quality. However, even with the odd metal cracking sound I hear, the cable continues to perform. I was pleasantly surprised to get a decent picture from the cable on my 24 monitor. For under $9 when everyone else sells for $20-25, the cable works.
It got a poor score for the feeling of it. The cable is NOT going to last me more than a year or so.
