Hi, Great price. I'm sure the cable works, but the warning they give you (make sure your video card supports VGA or A/V out) make sure your card supports that. I'm holding on to the cable though, in case I can get it to work on my video card. Great sale, great price, great delivery time.

VGA to S-Video/RCA (Composite) Adapter Cable - Black
|
I bought this for my monitor to connect to my analog converter.. but I order the wrong one the OUt puts should be inputs.. I need that one where I can connect my vid. converter to my moniter has VGA.. but this has VGA out to RCA in.. which is not helping me.. I could`t send this because the return charges is more that my order price..

Doesn't Work with New Macs
|
This product doesn't work with the new Macs. They produce only a Digital signal. So you can't plug this into an old CRT or analog TV. That is a box that will change the Digital signal to Analog.

I have a quick queston for anyone who might know. My question is, shouldnt the RCA end be a male to fit into the back of the TV. Why is it female, im pretty sure you need a male end because the back of the TV has the female end. Am i wrong & if not, is there a work around? thanks for the help guys.

This is not meant for laptop to tv, read below for what you need.

To whom it may concern, in order to output your laptop to a tv, you need these 2 things. An svideo cable (M-M) and an 3.5mm x 2 RCA jacks. I have got 2 links for you. This is what you need.

I compleatly agree with Administrator who said, It will work with VGA cards that has TVOut function capability through the VGA connector. Check your Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TVOut function capability. If your computer is compatable, than im shure it will work great like most other MonoPrice products Ive purchased.

This adapter works great. I would have say to everyone here who wrote that it doesnt work, they have no idea what they are talking about. Its not a magic adapter. It does what it is designed to do. If you connected it to your computer and you didnt change your resolution and it doesnt work, then it is working exactly as it is designed to work. Most (about 95%) of CRT TVs only have a resolution of 640x480. If you tried to connect your laptop or PC to a TV and you have the resolution set higher than 640x480, it probably wont work. Even with a HD TV, you cant get a RES higher than that via SVIDEO or Composite video cable. I hate the way you guys bad mouth Monoprice because of your stupidity. If you want to convert a laptop signal to work on an HDTV or at a higher resolution you need a Video Convertor, not an adapter. They sell those too. Spend a little more money and stop being cheap. Instead of writing, It dont work (bad grammer intentional), it sucks, its bad, what a rip off, you should do your homework and you will eventually discover how dumb you are. Why not just email Monoprice first? They are more than happy to help. So there!

I just ordered this to test. One thing that some maybe overlooking is to lower your PC resolution to match the capability of your TV. If not done, then you will get a black or no signal screen. Most will accept 800x600, but once you get the signal to the TV, then you can play with higher settings.

Dear Sirs, just a technical question about cables vga to rca....do they send out signal from the vga end to a lcd of a computer, for example if i want to connect my x-box console to my lcd would it work????is this cable what i need for this task????

People complaining that you can no connect a laptop to a TV need to know that it is becasue you computer outputs in RGB and your TV needs NTSC. What I've heard about monoprice is true
|
I used monoprice because I heard they have amazing customer service, and it wasn't a lie. I bought a VGA to S Video cord. It didn't work. I emailed saying it didn't work, promptly it was responded to and I was sent a new cord.
Heard they have great service and they do!

Does not work with GeForce GTX260M
|
For those who wonder it does not work with the Nvidia GeForce GTX260M. Also tried it with an older ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 and did not work either. Great product though, nice add-on to my arsenal of adaptors and cables. I'm sure I'll find a use for it sooner or later.

The cable itself is great, and very affordable. However, it only works with certain graphics boards, so be sure to check your computer for compatibility. Monoprice has some info on this item's page, but you should really explore this issue.

Dont assume it will work with PC VO out nvidia or ati cards
|
quality fabulous for price, however
i assumed this would work with cards that had din still video out and VI/VO capilities, ATI and nvidia as well as MSI all informed me that they dont know what the cable is for, but it doesnt work with their pc cards.
im still unsure what types of products support composite over VGA, but standard nvidia, and ati, pci, agp or pci ex cards dont seem to. so good luck to if youre not 100% certain your stuff will work,

Works on some equipment
|
The adapter only worked on a computer that already had an S-Video out on the video card. When hooked up to any of our laptops, the adapter wasn't recognized. Laptops are running Windows XP and Vista. Upon discsussion with the manufacturers, it was the fact that the Laptops were not capable of the output required for adapter. They recomended going to a VGA to Composite adapter unit to solve the problem.

Works, bu tnot on my laptop
|
I got it for connecting my tablet PC to a TV, but i didnt really expect it to work, and it doesn't.
But it DOES work with my old video card that has no tv-out of its' own, so it's still quite worth the whole few bucks i paid for it.
The picture is fair on my older 22" television (via RCA - i assume Svideo will be more crisp)
The pictures Monoprice have are at odd angles. This thing is actually about 10 inches long.
The svideo cable is nice and thick, but the RCA cable is surprisingly thin. I expected equal gauges....
Still totally worth th emonehy and it beats payign $20+ for a comparable product anywhere else.

Good, but...

I would give it a 10, but this only works one way. I was hoping to connect my video camera S-Video out to a VGA switcher input with this cable. It didn't work because this cable only works one way. The flow is VGA to S-Video or VGA to Composite

Good product
|
I reviewed this product and ended up purchasing it. When it arrived it did exactly what it was supposed to do. However I thought the picture quality was not so great. I can barely read the print from things on the computer. I am using this product from my desktop to my 37" phillips ambialight. I would recomend to someone with a HIGH-DEF tv to spend a little more and go with a vga to hdmi conversion box. You can get one here on monoprice for a great deal.

Not exactly what we hoped
|
At no fault of monoprice ... we chose this VGA to Composite adapter hoping it was all we needed to be able to use a computer monitor as a replacement for a regular television. Our hope was to use this adapter, hook it up to a DVD player or cable box and it would would ... just work?
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way and you still need a TV tuner to be able to convert the signal from the DVD player or cable box to a signal that the computer monitor understands. We will need to buy a standalone external TV tuner to be able to do what we want.
In the end it only cost a couple dollars to find out this way so no regrets.

Well, I read the reviews here before purchasing this, and I was sure my video card supported TVOut, but it still did not work. I tried it on my desktop with an ATI graphics card and also on my laptop with an NVIDIA graphics card, but they both did not work. I did not get a blank image like some buyers have claimed instead, I could see some image (when I mean by some, it''s actually barely) but it was black & white and the image was like when you turn to a channel with really bad reception you know how sometimes you can make out what''s showing but most of it is static. Luckily, my laptop had S-video so I bought an S-video to composite adapter here and it worked great.

I verified that my desktop motherboard (Asus M2A-VM) supports TV-Out before buying this adapter, but when I connected it, I just got a dark screen. I tried it on other computers and always get the same result. I wish I could return it, but it''s just past the 21-day period. (

|
for $4 shipped was worth trying on 2 different laptops (dell m1210 with geforce 7400 and toshiba with intel 4 series). didn't work as the notes stated so not like it's monoprice's fault for not warning me :D

This product straight up did not work. I may not have had the correct settings on my computer or something but if that was the case then the product should have come with some documentation.
Anyways, it's not a cheap solution to a Scan Converter, just get a Scan Converter.

Thank you for your review. You need to verify that your videocard supports. As stated in the description.
Use it to connect the video card on your computer to a TV input. Your video card MUST be able to support s-Video or Composite out through it's VGA port. This is known as a TV out function. If you don't know if your video card can do this, then call the card manufacturer and ask them "Does my video card support S-Video or Composite Video out through its VGA port?" Cable did not work
|
VGA to S-video cable does not work. The s-video cable I already have works when connected to a laptop that has an s-video connector. However, my s-video cable will not work when connected to the VGA to S-Video adapter on either one of my laptops.
