Rating: (10 out of 10)Reviewer: Daniel Ewing from Nashua, NH

Pros: Works as expected.
No signal loss even with an extra 6' usb cable added to each end to have over 60' of usb cable.

Cons: The size of the connector at the female end can it make it akward for some applications, I had to attach a short male - male cable to get a less bulky male connector at the female end.

This works better than I expected. I use this in conjuntion with a couple of:
6561 Keystone Jack - USB 2.0 A Female to A Female Coupler Adapter, Flush Type (White)
To run USB down the wall, across 35' of my basement ceiling, then back up the wall. In each room, there is an additional 6' of usb cable to connect device to wall and PC to wall. Overall it is 60' + of USB cable with no signal loss and full USB 2.0 speed.

Pros: Price, quality

Cons: None

I'm using this for PC gaming on my TV. At first I simply had a single wireless gamepad transmitter plugged in and it worked great, then I added a (powered) USB hub for additional connectivity and it still works flawlessly. Highly recommended.

Not a good solutiion
Pros: Would have been a nice clean simple solution for extending the RealFlight Interlink controller

Cons: It just didn't work well at all. Lots of USB communications error presented themselves as major delay in Interlink inputs being read by RealFlight

Don't use this product with RealFlight

Hello,

Thank you for your review. And I am truly sorry to hear of your experience you have had with this product. We will be taking your review into consideration so we can look into the PID#. Thank you for your understanding and patience in the matter.

For now, if possible, please try a couple of troubleshooting techniques with me to see if we can resolve your issue.

Have you tried this with a different USB port?

What about another device?

Did you try to use this cable with a powered hub?

Please let me know if the problems still occur. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement or a return RMA to see if a replacement will work better. We do have a lifetime warranty on non-electronics and cables as well as a 1 year warranty for electronics. And obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. If you want to continue with an RMA just please provide the order# and if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

Works
Pros: Works if on its own bus

Cons: Does not work if two cables on same bus.

I set up this cable along with the 10m cable both are connected to logi c270 webcams on a Linux Xubuntu system with Motion software and they work fine. But it did take some shuffling of the port to use. If both this cable and the 10m cable were on the same bus(USB ports right next to each other), then that was too much for the computer and they would not work. So on my computer that has 8 ports, the maximum number of these cables I could attach is probably three. Bottom line, don't plan on attaching one of these cables to every one of your open USB ports with webcams. If you are only doing a few, then you should be able to shuffle the ports used and get it to work.

used for xbox 360 kinect
Pros: Great quality

Cons: None

Ordered this cable to extend the length of my xbox 360 Kinect. You must have the USB adapter to use this just as the description says, I ran my cable through the ceiling to use with a projector, works flawless and no messy wires all over the place. Super fast shipping and excellent packaging.

Works, but Not in All Applications
Pros: A 10 in some applications but a 5 in others.

Well made like almost everything from Monoprice.com it will carry a USB NTSC SD signal from a USB frame grabber at 30fps. Used by itself and with a good connection at the device and PC (see below), this is a good cable. I would rate it a ten in some applications. Because of problems with maintaining good connections at my laptop, I rate it a 5.

Cons: For some mysterious reason the USB connector does not maintain a reliable connection with the USB ports on my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Can be daisy chained but not if it is the first extender.

I purchased this extender to carry signals from a SD NTSC cam mounted on a telescope, as well as the serial commands to control the mount. That requires either a two port cable, like http:// www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030312&p_id=8490&seq=1&format=2 or a hub at the mount.

This cable will work with the two-port cable above, only if the two-port cable is first in the chain at the PC. That negates the advantage of the two ports and requires a hum.

In summary, the cable seems well made, has problems with some USB jacks, and works in only some daisy chain configurations with other products. Daisy chaining two of these cables is also less than 100% reliable.

49' USB EXTENSION CABLE
Pros: works as stated

I had ordered a 30' USB extension for my kid's PS3 camera but it ended up about 3' short so I added a 6' extension on the end, but the eye would not work consistently and would often freeze up. I then ordered the 49' cable, hoping that it would solve the problem by going from PS3 to camera without any other cables. It turns out that the 49' USB has 2 repeaters built into it and it worked perfectly: now games play without glitches.

Works great, with low powered devices like a mouse or keyboard, you can even add a standard 10ft extension in front and behind this, giving you up to almost 70 ft and it will still work. For best signal or high powered devices, use just this cable however.

Pros: Works great for extending a mouse or keyboard

Cons: Didn't work for extending a 3G wireless modem or a USB barcode scanner.

Purchased for moving a 3G wireless modem closer to a outside wall for better signal. Would not give enough power to power the modem so it could be used to login.

Tried to re-use it to extend a USB barcode scanner, but couldn't power 3 different types of USB barccode scanners.

Hello Brian,

Thank you for your review. If you are using the active repeater for high powered devices such as your wireless modem. We do recommend using a powered hub in conjunction with the repeater. Something like this pID#, should suffice,

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10307&cs_id=1030702&p_id=5328&seq=1&format=2

Otherwise, this should work fine for lower powered devices. Thank you!

Extends signal perfectly
Pros: Easily powered a 4-port usb hub with mouse and a couple of thumb drives.

Cons: no light indicators like the other 2-port model here.

It was actually enough to also charge my phone (motorola droid x) though not 100% reliable (as expected). I plugged in an extra power to my usb hub (I had a powered hub but lost the power brick, so I got it from here (product id: 2220). With that, it happily charged my phone and powered my 100GB notebook external drive (tested reliable read/write over 30MB/s), and wireless mouse/keyboard.

Works with kinect
Pros: Great length. Works with the xbox Kinect flawlessly.

Cons: The cable came wound fairly tight. It will take a while to get the cable flat.

Over all a great cable, just wish it wasn't wound so tight.
