Excellent cables
|
Pros: Gold ends, ferrite, interference chokes on each end
I bought 3 of these to wire up my Xbox and ps3 to my hdmi switching Yamaha receiver. Was immediately impressed with the quality when they were delivered. I installed two of them easily and then put the other away.
I noticed some digital artifacts on my tv that was connected with and older hdmi cable. I took the remaining monoprice cable and replaced that older hdmi cable and was amazed to see how much clearer the televisions picture was.
So much so I have just placed another order so that I can replace all of the existing hdmi cables on my home with these great quality and well shielded cables.

HDMI cable 'Mode not supported'
|
Cons: I bought these cables for use in with my MonoPrice 4 port HDMI switcher and I get "mode not supported" when trying to use them with my devices (an Apple TV, an Xbox, and a PS3) At first I thought the switcher was broken but I found an old HDMI cable to test and it worked fine with the switcher for all devices. Not worth sending them back...At least they were cheap...
They don't work.

Now if I may ask, have we tried the cable directly from the HDMI source to the TV (by passing the switch) and see if it works then? Has this been the case since you received it? Thanks Jonathan, I haven't tried that but your tech support thinks that the gauge of the HDMI cable is the issue. I ordered 24 AWG cables to try. Incidentally, the old HDMI cables I used to test (the one that works with the switcher) is also Monoprice brand and appears to be the same thickness as the new ones. I can't find anything on the cable itself that says the gauge of the cable. Not sure why 24 AWG will work better than 28 AWG when I'm only running 3 ft. of HDMI, but worth a shot.

Hello Phil,
Ahh I see.. well I should mention, 28AWG cables are perfect for short direct connection between source devices and the television. However, if you are using an HDMI switch or A/V receiver, we recommend using 24AWG. Switches tend to put a greater load on the signal passing through. This can lead to handshaking/signal strength issues. The thicker 24AWG lowers signal resistance and helps compensate for this. Hope this helps and keep us posted!

It's an HDMI cable. It does its job of passing along audio and video information and is novel only in the fact that it's not black.
A note for potential buyers: This cable will work just fine with HDMI switches, even if a switch recommends that you use 24AWG-grade cable or better. This cable connects my PC to a Monoprice HDMI switch (Product ID 5557) that is connected to my living room TV and I've had no issues at all.

Excellent quality and fun colors
|
Pros: Great color selection, variety of sizes, high quality and the price is right.

It's great having HDMI cables in different colors on a system with many different source appliances. Quality is great, I was able to select the exact right size and the price is very sharp. What's not to like?

Great, but I made a mistake
|
Pros: It works! I never had a problem with Monoprice. I have even gone to the box stores, and told customers to save their money and buy it online.
Cons: It was too short. That was my fault. I should've bought the longer cord.....which is what I ended up doing.

A safe buy
|
The cord is a tad short for our uses, but that's only because I underestimated the length I'd need. At first we thought the cable was broken, but then it turned out we didn't plug the thing in all the way.
If my TV had more HDMI inputs, I'd buy more cables for the other devices that use HDMI that I don't own. Even when you factor in shipping, the price can't be beat, and it's all digital data coming down the line, so cable build quality isn't such a big deal.
But let me tell you, I was shocked at how heavy this cable was. I was expecting something light and easy to break, but this thing felt like my dog could have been gnawing on it for a good while before I'd experience signal loss. Also, the fact that it's available in a very short length helps since there's less chance for attenuation, and it causes less cable tangling.

|

Nice Cable
|
I like the fact that the Ferrite Cores are back away from the connectors so they're not in the way when plugging in. The HDMI connector "casings" are at the maximum size allowable for my setup...anything larger and they wouldn't fit. Also, if the cable could be more flexible at the end jut as it exits the connector, this would be a plus as it would allow for easier routing of the cable away from the back of the TV panel. Otherwise, great quality!

Not recommended for use with XBOX 360 and HDMI Switchbox
|
This cable may work out well if it is being use to connect your device directly to your TV but I had problems when using it with one of the (4088) HDMI switches to share the connection. I have a couple of these 3' and it works fine with the cable box (sending out 1080i) but whenever I try using it with the XBOX 360 there is no display. After much troubleshooting and swapping cables (even swapped the HDMI switch) I confirmed that this cable would not let my XBOX 360 display 1080p through the HDMI switch. I ended up swapping this cable out with one of the 10' HDMI cables (part # 5136) without the Ferrite beads and it now works perfect. I don't know if there is something odd about this particular cable or if having the Ferrite beads actually screwed up the signal instead of helping when the HDMI switch was used.
This should probably work fine in most cases but if you are sharing an HDMI connection and are going to use an XBOX 360 then you should consider one of the other HDMI cables that MONOPRICE sells and avoid this one.

Works Well, I like them for the most part. One warning, those round tube things near each end, are about 1" in diameter. So that means large holes if your connecting components in a cabinet. That and it makes it difficult to manage cables with that bulk there.
Price is right though. :)

It's Monoprice ... it works perfectly (at a fraction of Monster prices) and even when compared to 'special priced' sales from competitors, the Monoprice cables are more pliable than the others. Spend your money wisely, buy Monoprice.

Nice cable, flexible enough to not strain connections and the ferrite blocks are far enough fro the end that you can bend the cable where it leaves the connector to fit in narrow spaces.

Never disappointed with Monoprice
|
Monoprice is the best place to purchase cabling. Many times I've been very surprised by the high quality for such a reasonable price. I have about a dozen of these cables in 3 and 6 foot lengths. I use them on a all 3 of my AV systems. I used to pay 20 times as much for monster, until I tried MP's cabling and experience no noticable difference in audio or video quality.
This is a no brainer folks....UNLESS....you use sophisticated measuring instrumentation to detect differences not seen by the human eye or heard by the human ear. If that's the case, you can find cabling for about $500 a foot from some Japanese esoteric audio dealers....knock yourself out!

great cable at a great price
|
Nice cable. I like that it's yellow, so I can see it in contrast against all the black cables in my setup.
3 ft is a nice length for components that stack on different shelves. I'd get the 1.5 ft if I had access to the back of the cabinet, but 3 ft is better since I have to pull out the boxes to plug things in.
