Great cable, great price.
|
Pros: A spool of 12 gauge at this price is very handy to have.
The wire lays nice and flat and out of view (I was wiring outdoor speakers in my screened-in porch).
Cons: There are no cons.
I should have bought 14 gauge, though, as 12 is hearty stuff made for super audiophiles or going long distances.
I'm trying to avoid products made in china, but MonoPrice makes it hard because their prices are so darn good and their products are really top notch.

Pros: excellent wire for the price. there are people who suggest it's too thick for the closed type banana plugs or rca's. with a little bit of diy like scraping a little of the shielding, it all works. i just wish monoprice had thicker wires for other purposes. the only hiccup was to my sub-woofer that is an SVS which is located 30 feet from my Bryston amp.. i doubled the wire for the + and - and it all works great. For what we pay for and what we get, it's a hell of a product!! good job monoprice.com!

Great Wire
|
Pros: Rating is 10. This speaker wire was the best speaker wire that I have ever used. It gives out great sound from my speakers for my home stereo system.
Cons: There are no cons for this speaker wire.
Great speaker wire for the price and does the job well. It gives out great sound from my speakers after I hooked up my speakers to my stereo using the speaker wire that I purchased.

Best bang for the buck wires out there.

Pros: Priced well, sturdy, easy to work with. Everything required out of a speaker wire.
Cons: None. If I had to nitpick I would say the insulation is thick so it can take a bit of strength to strip these. Maybe invest in a quality wire stripper.
Speaker conductors aren't rocket science. These Monoprice wires are low cost and will work just as well as any overpriced brand out there. There is a reason why these are the most recommended wires on websites like SomethingAwful forums and AVSForums. They work, they do their job, and they're priced right.

What's there to say....it's just good quality wire at a great price
|
Pros: Pliable, polarity marking is easy to see, easy to work with, lays flat, excellent value for the money.
Cons: None that I can think of.
I don't believe in voodoo wire. if I did, I suppose I would not be a Monoprice customer. :-) My use of 12g wire for my 3.1 music system is overkill to the extreme, but I treat it like audio jewelry something I purchase for appearance rather than any perceived performance advantage. I had a small quantity of Radio Shack 12g Mega Cable bought years ago, but they no longer sell it owning to their decision to get in bed with Monster. Thus, when I needed a bit more, I immediately went to MP, and was not disappointed.

Pros: Great price and arrived when it was supposed to.
Cons: The jacket is too thick for the closed banana plugs (JX-74043) that I ordered. Not a huge issue but I did not think that I would have to remove as much as I had to.
Great speaker wire. I needed another 100 feet to bi-wire and bi-amp my new 7.1 system that I using as 5.1. I will order more when I get the other two surround speakers.

Cons: Almost TOO THICK...
I had a hard time working with this cable. When I was stripping it, I could easily rip off half of the copper. It has a very thick plastic ring.
I would NOT recommend this for any setup that is under 100ft length. 12 gauge is overkill and if you are making custom cables, the thickness makes it hard to work with.
I would purchase the 14AWG next time for all of my custom cables

Why spend a cent more?
|
I first learned of Monoprice.com from Jim Salk (Salk Sound) a few months ago when I ordered a pair of his custom-made speakers and asked him what cable he used for auditioning and personal use. In addition to using this Monoprice cable for my Salks I will be replacing the cabling to the speakers for three other setups I have.
More recently I came across the following in Sam Grobart's 06/05/12 Gadgetwise column in the New York Times: "But if you’re seeking out cables, let me refer you to Monoprice.com, which is by far the best place to get any cables, cords, connectors and other synonyms that start with “c.” You can get HDMI cable for your antenna in all kinds of lengths, and Monoprice’s prices will make you rue the day you ever forked over double-digit dollars for cabling at a big-box store."
After purchasing Monoprice 'premium' RCA interconnects, digital coaxial and optical (TosLink) cables, I 'A-B'd them with BIG NAME ones that sold for gross multiples of the Monoprice ones. I could not tell any difference and am now using the Monoprice ones with my Salk setup.

Cons: Sending it underneath the carpet and around baseboard bends is a bit challenging, but that is my problem, not the cable's :-)
Excellent value, the cable is really thick, unlike some advertised on Amazon by other merchants as being 12 AWG, but is really like 15 with thicker insulation.

This is nice heavy duty wire. It was easy to strip and to separate the wires. It really made a difference for my rear speakers which are 40 feet from the receiver (I had some very light duty wire that seemed to limit the speakers). For a 40 foot run, this wire is sufficient. I have an Onkyo HT-RC180 receiver, Polk Audio Monitor 70s in front, Polk Audio Monitor 60s in the rear and a Polk Audio CS2 center channel speaker. I include this information since I am always wondering how products work for systems like the one I own. Monoprice shipped the wire promptlyy

Fantastic Wire

Pros: About the same price as 14 or 16 AWG at other retailers, which is nice

When I was setting up my home theater (LG 60PV450, Pioneer VSX-1021-K receiver, Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers, PS3) I wanted to make sure I was getting the best sound signal running to all of my speakers. I knew I wanted to have 12AWG or 14AWG wire, and the price of this 12AWG was actually a bit less than what I have seen 14AWG go for on other websites, so I went with the thicker wire for better signal. I am glad that I did. I have noticed no degradation of sound, and I often get compliments on my system, of which this wire is a key part.
One thing to keep in mind (and you probably already know this if you are looking at 12AWG wire) is that it is thicker than most wire you will find at your local electronics/home improvement store, which can be a cosmetic issue for some people (like my wife). I solved this problem by purchasing some wire molding (I live in an apartment, so buying in-wall rated wires and running them through the drywall was not an option) from my local home improvement store, and had no problem getting this wire to fit inside.
If you want a low gauge wire for the same price other retailers have their higher gauge wire without sacrificing quality (and probably improving quality), buy this wire.

Nice, thick, pure copper wire. Length of spool, though not strictly measured, seemed to be really close to the 100' mark. Wire appears to be pure copper, strips relatively easily, and is readily marked for ease of determining polarity. Great purchase.

12 AWG Copper wire for Home Theater

After looking all over the place, I stumbled upon Monoprice.com and saw some great reviews. I ordered 12 AWG 100 ft wire for my hometheater system (people say 12 AWG is not required as its too thick to hold up on walls but wanted the best anyway). Result is great sound and although its little thick, i could put them in on walls using raceways without any trouble, Raceways were detached couple of times but purchased a industrial strength double side tape and have no problems of falling off. Coming back to copper wire, its all same even if you buy a brand which costs lot more than monoprice. Why pay more for the same quality. I also bought all related items from here and its been a great experience. I would highly recommend buying from here. Do look around and compare prices and shipping. I am sure this will be the place you will end up finally.

Pros: very nice speaker wire and at a low cost. i read about this wire before purchasing and was told to go 1 gauge higher when buying from monoprice so instead of 14 awg i bought this 12 awg.
Cons: none, its heavy but that's speaker wire.
if you have a mid to high level surround sound system or even loudspeakers i would highly recommend this wire, why pay the high prices that monster charges for the same thing.

Great cable!
|
Pros: Great sound clarity, cuts and strips like a dream. Jacketing is easy to work with and paintable.
Cons: None that I can think of.
This cable provides the backbone for our home theater setup. Wonderful sound quality, andthough this wasn't specified in the item descriptionthe jacket paints quite well. SO, we've got it blending in nicely with our walls. Not as nice as an internal wiring solution, but when you rent your apartment, what can you do?

Cons: None so Far.
Great speaker wire. I was a little leary to give an off brand product a try for a high end home audio setup but I was hapily suprised to find it performs quite well. Monoprice seems to know what they are doing.

Possible improvements:
- Identifying blue stripe could be a bit wider, it is sometime not obvious.
- Identifying blue stripe could be moved to the side, so that it is not overly visible when cable is laid flat along a wall.
- Choice of colors

Pros: flexible. good strand weave and striation.
Cons: seam between the 2 cable shields is weak, and separates too easily. Obviously, one wants the cable to be able to part, however, not unintentionally.

Thank you for your rapid response to my review. Although I'm unsatisfied with the performance of the cable, I was in a situation (house currently under construction) where I needed to get some cable into the walls, so I had to use some of the cable reel. I don't want to tear the walls apart to return the product. I have a half-reel of unused cable, which I attempted to use for connection cables (individual cables are parting, hence my review remarks), but this is not a "returnable item" at this point, as I feel this would be unfair to you as the retailer.
My comments in the initial review were simply to help you as the retailer define product deficiencies, ultimately helping future customers (like myself).

|
Pros: $ 27.12 for 100 feet? try and beat that anywhere. i paid $ 75 for 100 feet of 16 gauge at home depot 10 years ago! i'm now running this 12 gauge on everything connected with banana plugs.

Pros: Best pricing I saw on the internet I mean stupid pricing. I got high quality cable for the price I would have had to pay for much lower quality in the store. Definitely recommend them and will take all my cabling business to monoprice.com
Cons: Just the fact is has to ship and can't get it at the store right now but this is the same as you buy anything online so not really a con if you purchase online.
Amazing cable that helped me put together my home theater system.

Sweet deal for good wire

We're talking about speaker wire here so it's not quantum mechanics. My highest recommendation is this is my second order of this wire. Using it to connect my Adcom 555 amps to my rear and surround speakers (Pardigm Studio 20's and Studio 10's.
For the price everyone should keep one of these around the house, If you ever have to buy speaker wire locally for any reason it's going to cost you at least 4x what it costs here for the same quality.

Pros: - Clear coating
- Heavy solid build
- Crisp sound over long distance not requiring any boost (I used 20-25 ft lengths)
- Price (very low for the quality of sound)
Cons: - None
I wasn't expecting a lot of quality with any of my cables that i bought here before, but i admit for 24 cents a foot, AND the fact that you don't lose quality, AND that it looks pretty cool, you can't go wrong with these cables. Thus I purchased another 100ft today to hook up my rear speakers.

Pros: price, reasonable flexibility indicates a high strand count, clearly marked jacketing

can't tell a difference in sound between this and some of the haggard old 18awg it replaced but I'm no sonic engineer. for the price i'm just happy to salve my OCD by having the components in my home where the wire is most visible wired with the same stuff.

Great speaker wire
|
I used the Monoprice 12AWG speaker wire to replace the Monster XP wire currently in my 5.1 home theater set up. I was skeptical about using this wire at first, but read many great reviews and I liked the price, so I decided to buy a 100ft spool. Just like other reviewers have mentioned, the difference was night and day. The sound was brighter and more precise. My wife even mentioned that music and movies sounded better.
For some reason, the Monster XP wire I was using had a some sort of plastic core with copper strands wrapped over it. This gave it the illusion of a thicker guage wire. The Monoprice wire was a bit thicker and was all copper. The thickness of the cable made it interesting fishing it through an insulated wall. Also had to shave the insulation to use the banana and speaker plugs sold on this site. All in all, great wire for a great price. I highly recommend over the overpriced alternative.
