Pros: Good value for a optical fibre cable for a basic sound system.
Cons: None for that price.
A handy spare cable to have around.

Excellent quality and value

Pros: very durable and shorter length useful for desktop application
Cons: none
Wanted to take advantage of built in optical on my iMac especially when editing movies or audio, this is the perfect bridge to the USB powered micro DAC, then that connects to a headphone amp. The quality is astoundingly better, and makes work on the project faster and much more enjoyable. Also since the amp has multiple headphone outs I can easily share a work in progress and get input. win win win win.

Pros: Low price
Audio quality
This audio cable is cheaper than you will find anywhere else and works great even at 96 kHz / 24 bit. When I replaced my analog audio cables, I was surprised that I could actually hear the difference. The highs sound a lot crisper with digital audio.

Mac Mini Toslink
|
I use this cable to connect a Mac Mini to various audio devices. The Mac uses a mini Toslink and most everything else in the world uses a standard Toslink. Works great. Think I already reviewed it once when I bought it for the audio-out. Bought another for the audio-in.

I bought this to connect my apple airport express to my home theater system. I wasn't interested in buying the apple branded cables for 10x as much.
This cable is of high quality, works perfectly, and you certainly can't beat the price!

Works well for MAC Mini to Yamaha soundbar connection
|
Used this to connect the Mac mini to Yamaha YSP4000 soundbar. This is working well sending dolbly digial signal to Yamaha soundbar when playing DVDs. You do need to set the preferences in the DVD player software (Default Apple DVD Player or VLC Player) to be able to send the digital signal out. Works well and inexpensive. Please make sure the 3ft cable length is long enough for your connection.

MacBook Optical Cable
|
Monoprice was extremely quick in delivering this product. Their prices and selection for cables are the best I have ever encountered. The cable arrived and I plugged it into my MacBook and experienced Dolby Digital and DTS digital surround sound for the first time from my MacBook. For some reason I thought only the MacBook Pros had optical out but I was just browsing different forums and came across the fact that my laptop had it too. I recommend monoprice to all of my friends who need cables/interconnects/etc. . .

"Sound" investment
|
I never write reviews, but this site, and their products deserve it very much.
I needed this Tos to Mini for a digital audio out from Mac Mini to a HDMI A/V
receiver with optical input capability so I could achieve 5.1+ surround
for using PLEX exclusively, it works GREAT, not to mention the HDMI
cables (which I also purchased from Monoprice) make the picture better than the
MiniDVI to VGA. Adding the TOS to replace the basic RCA cables has eliminated
a humming noise over the speakers while using PLEX, and that made me very happy!
My only regret about this cable is that it's only 3 ft long, I could have used 4 to 5ft but
thats wholly my fault.

If you want to get digital audio from your Mac and send it to your home theater receiver this cable is a great solution. No need to buy a connection kit at nearly 20x the price of this single cable. This is a great deal!
